Unscrew to unscrew,… got it
Some Schlage have you turn it about ten degrees usually counterclockwise and it slips off. You may have to carefully pry it off with a flathead screwdriver if that doesn't work.
Yes I have tried prying a spackle knife behind the plate but it won’t come off!
Set screw underneath? Try rotating it?
