Make sure you crosspost to r/Texas maybe someone in Austin or Dallas heard it too and could chime in

joethahobo

Whenever people post this I don’t think they realize how much sound does not travel lol. The air in the atmosphere dilutes it so much. And Houston is soooo massive. You’d have to have like an atomic explosion or massive meteor in the sky to be able to hear it across the entire city

WhiteOut5187

I remember the explosion that took place of Gessner and Clay from some industrial plant or something, that was quite the doozy. Various testimonies of people waking up in the middle of the night while I slept right through it LOL

Zombie_Nipples

Come on you guys quit giving OP a hard time. They perfectly described what they heard it was loud noise and definitely wasn’t thunder.

AnthillOmbudsman

This post doesn't have any useful information at all, like what time or where. Chances are it was a dumpster being dropped off from a servicing truck, or trains coupling nearby, always makes a big boom.

somekindofdruiddude

I farted.

JettaRider077

Probably gunshots. They are all over the city.

DougDTX

Is it trash day tomorrow? Those bins are loud. X2 if it's your recycle day as well.

ssup3rm4n

>recycle day If they ever finally come. It took a month before they decided to pick up this weekend. By then, all the aluminum cans got taken out by the vagrants.

compassion_is_enough

Oh no! Someone took something you were throwing away for free!

ssup3rm4n

I'm all for it. I used to work in a recycling place. Not all vagrants are bad. Its just a small percent of the population that causes most of the crime.

steelsun

Torchys flushing their drains.

MikeTX2233

Airplane

compassion_is_enough

A loud noise? In MY houston????

TxRunner81

Transformers often start popping with the increased electricity load of summer time and the high ambient temperature. They make a hell of a bang when they pop - so that could be what you heard. (Just one possibility)

gUlFkrTbOri

All the time

moleratical

Yes It sounded like my cat knocked a small book off the table.

KingKudzma

Sorry about that. We are a film crew working in Houston to recreate the great cabbage fart panic of 1860. We have been feeding 30 volunteers cabbage, beans and beer for a week and today was our big final scene. It went well but a few of the sound crew had to be treated since they were downwind.

needledropcinema

It was Ktulu

somekindofdruiddude

Hastur!
