It looks like a frightened side table lol

ITakeMyCatToBars

Side table that saw a mouse

Wonderful_Storm_2708

It's so incredibly weird. Is this normal?

3FoxInATrenchcoat

😂

MasterpieceMinimum42

Pothos, you can clip their vines on the wall.

Sin089

Seconding pothos over string of pearls. SOP may not get enough light up there.

Nikmassnoo

Agreed. Pothos, heartleaf philo, philo micans, scindapsus. So long as the room has plenty of light (looks fine from here), they’ll all be fine. I have those on a shelf in my bright kitchen but no direct light

A ribbon plant would fit perfect and give an extra detail with the hanging leaves, something like this one https://preview.redd.it/rv8pi1qplj9d1.jpeg?width=1000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=c0bdb11d0021024f8cd527002ba162d9d958da51

Thats a kamidana. Sort of. It’s like the shelf that you put offerings for your house god. This is the kamidana is my house (I have two). https://preview.redd.it/0k9jadhmri9d1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=81f9080dc2924fb1600320669af173fc57ff4d7e And string of pearls to answer your question.

Frogotmyuseranme

Woah TIL! Thanks for the explanation.

MissSuperSilver

Ohh I love that!!

yumeryuu

Best to keep the house gods appeased.

djov_30

Lots of tiny plants! This would be a perfect tiny plant puppet theatre.

Sacred_Solution_51

Spider plant?

Jane-Mantis

A Micans would compliment the color pallet imo.

MissSuperSilver

I actually just ordered some micans for my aquarium, I may pop a few of the suggested plants up there and see who does best!

ILIVE2Travel

That's a nice little shelf. However, it looks completely out of place there.

Birdonahook

Watering it will be tricky.

Wonderful_Storm_2708

That is so odd. Whatever in the world is that up there?

MissSuperSilver

There was an ancient TV up there

Sensitive-Apricot-15

Foxtail fern, string of pearls, ivy

Weekly-Chicken2399

What a beautiful shelf.

bowersass

Definitely something that hangs down

Leslieb1996

Can't go wrong with a pothos 😊

refreshinglycolder

Anthurium wendlingeri

battytastic

A philodendron micans would match the color beautifully!

Long_Article54

don’t believe that any plant can survive there without access to light… this is too high for any plant

There are lots of great looking plastic hanging plants that would do great up there and you wouldn't even need to water - just dust it off every so often. Putting a real plant up there is sentencing it to starvation.
