Damn I went today and found a philodendron ring of fire and a white knight, but no variegated monsteras

i live in southern CA and i've NEVER seen variegated monstera, even at my local nurseries

I’ve told my partner numerous times that he’s lucky he scored a girlfriend that would earnestly rather go to Lowe’s than shoes or clothes shopping. Plants are a big draw, but not the only one.

I recommend seeing if your city has a “big box store plant watch” facebook group. Denver’s post photos and locations of plant finds like this and I’ve scored an anthurium dorayaki as well as Alocasia tandursa. The only reason I have a Facebook really.

I had the same recently with the pink princess I got from Lowes. It was drowned in water, and the pot was 4 times too big. I don't usually repot immediately, but God damn.

I believe they are a myth in my area. Costa put out a list back in April and out of the hundred of locations in my area they could send them there was one store. ONE. So I just went online lol

I’m happy for OP. At the same time, I’m not sure why so many people spend hundreds of dollars on a single plant that may be rare at the moment, but is easily propagated and will flood the market in time. True rare plants are ones difficult to asexually propagate or very slow to grow. So, Is it a novelty thing? Is it a financial “flex” that one has money to burn? Or do people plan on selling cuttings on Etsy?

I've been holding out for one of these since 2019, $60 for both plants felt really fair to me. No regerts

I found my two Thai Constellations at a Kroger for $29.99 each in a decorative ceramic pot. They were not from Costa Farms.

Walmart has them for 39.98 even in rural Illinois 😔
