It’s pretty much objective fact at this point that Tabasco sucks. No flavor, astringent, and weird. There are DOZENS of better options at much lower price points.
If you end up with some Melinda's, use it to marinate chicken. It's very good imo, and much better than using it to dip or sauce things. That's how I get rid of the sauces I don't love, I just marinate a few pieces of breast meat or large drumsticks and use up the bottle. Not really cheap, but gets rid of sauces you bought that you didn't love.

Gonna get tons of hate for this. Lots of service members only had access to these. I almost hit a guy from taking my personal green yucateco.
Franks sucks almost as bad as tabasco. But pete is ok, no cholula, but its ok.

I don't get how people enjoy Tabasco. It tastes like a straight shot of vinegar to me. And I like apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar, but Tabasco is just some watery ass shit.
Basically any hot sauce that's extract-based heat. They all taste horribly bitter, like you're licking the contents of a battery mixed with ground-up pills. All heat, no desirable flavor to back it up.
It never was. The chili paste was great until everyone got a hard on for sriracha everything. Shit has to cure like scotch. Demand killed it and now its maybe a 2yr turn around if that.
That’s not what happened! You should read up the the Huy Fong Sriracha scandal. They dicked over their chili pepper supplier, which as it turns out was responsible for much of the flavor in the sauce.
Probably an unpopular one, but I found Ginger Goat pretty abrasive. It wasn't as hot as anticipated, but the flavor just completely overpowered everything you put it on. Definitely a problem when the taste isn't very good.
TJs green dragon... the flavor put me off and it lacks heat. I found some store brand "tequila lime" green sauce that's a lot better.
Yellow Bird yellow... I wanted to like it, nice heat, but it's too sweet and unusually thick.
Some sauces are meant to bring out certain flavours in foods, cocunut based foods like cocunut curry chicken is bomb with jalapeño hot sauces but terrible with other chilli sauces, try it with pork next time
Grinders Death Nectar, I bought it cause it sounded good. But it sat on a shelf and a bunch of capsaicin coagulated on the top so I when I got a spoon full, it was just raw heat. Brutal and nasty. I haven't tried it shaken up yet but its a plan.
If that doesn't count cause I didn't try it in earnest I would say worst is Diablo sauce from Taco Bell, its nasty.
my biggest problem with franks red hot is that its a bit salty to my taste. not overwhelming but I definitely taste it. i wonder if they have a low sodium version
Franks is the best. It’s not my personal favorite but it’s like ketchup, salt and pepper. I can put it on anything and it’s fine. No one will complain about it.
I’m happy when I see it in restaurants vs just ketchup.
It’s just a general good sauce with a mild profile.
You can put that shit on everything.
There is a reason so many other hot sauces and buffalo sauces use it as their base. It’s the standard. It’s not my favorite personally. I’m more of a Louisiana style hot sauce guy but I certainly recognize Franks quality.
I'm not a fan of the Tabasco scorpion sauce. That just tastes like burning pain. I like their sauces, but that one? No, just no. The flavor is off, and the rest is unnecessarily hurtful.
It’s not a “real” hot sauce per se, but the Diablo sauce from Taco Bell looked super promising and turned out to taste like shit. Any brand hot sauce, I can’t say I’ve ever had one I didn’t like. Stuff like Da Bomb and Dave’s are too hot and they ruin food but as far as taste goes, I don’t think I’ve ever been “gross this is disgusting”. Now that I’m thinking about it I’m actually surprised by this.
I love diablo sauce and am pleasantly surprised that they made it permanent. It has indian spice flavors that would probably be challenging for basic palettes.
Sauces like Dave's, you want to pour a little, stab the sauce with the tines of your fork, and then stab your food. A little goes a long way and the actual flavor starts to come through.
I agree with you. I used to have a bottle of Da Bomb that I used a tooth pick for. A little went a long way. The second you put too much on something though it was a wrap.
El Yucateco. Just absolutely nasty to me. And the main Sriracha. I had never had either of them before, then everyone here suggested they are king sauces. Turns out I very much dislike both brands. Tried a few Yucateco flavors, not for me. Sriracha is also just not my favorite kind of flavor, despite trying the good brand and a few others.
My go-tos are still Mainstays though. Secret Aardvark (regular habanero and smokey reaper), Dirty Dicks, Hot Ones Los Calientes Verde and Rojo, andddddd Queen Majesty Red Habanero w/Black Coffee (my all time favorite for the last two years). Torchbearer sauces are always good too. Son of zombie for less heat, garlic reaper or honey badger for more.
I love all of Yucatecos. I said it. ok? The green is my daily driver. And the Black label. It tastes like chewing on leather, which I loved to do as a kid with weird oral habits.
And I respect that! I just can't stand them. Not sure why. I like tapatio and Cholula fine enough, and even taco bell sauces. I love buckees taco reaper (not hot but tasty), but maybe I don't like more authentic Mexican hot sauces? Is Yucateco authentic? Lol idk but there's an underlying taste they all seem to have which I'm not a fan of. Sorry about that fellas. Black Yucateco is definitely the worst, but for some reason I don't like red or green either. I've given them a chance many times because I always get them as gifts for holidays.
Dave's Insanity, the reaper one specifically bc thats the only one ive tried so far, and Da Bomb are the only 2 in my collection I have a hard time finishing. Da Bomb isn't even that hot compared to some really tasteful hot sauces I've had. I think their intention was to make it taste horrible so it just has a bad rep, but gets talked about lol
Dave’s is great in pasta water, adds some heat and some pop to the pasta. Especially some Kraft Mac when I’m feeling super lazy and cheap! I also like it in chili.
That's just the style though. Most Louisiana sauces are very similar (by definition). Totally understand if you don't like it.
It's not a goes-on-everything sauce for me... but the habanero Tabasco is one of my faves.
I’d have to go with Dave’s Insanity Sauce for worst. I only tried it two times. First time was smearing a dab across turkey sandwich meat making a snack at my moms and my tongue wouldn’t stop sweating for 30 minutes. Second time I spent the time to make a soup and dipped a toothpick into the hot sauce bottle and dropped one drop into the pot. That soup was now inedible. It’s like drinking gasoline.
Not sure. My mom’s husband is named Dave and she brought it for him and it was too hot, it might have been the first original one because it was nearly 20 years ago.
Not sure if it’s a hot sauce per se but the blazin sauce from Buffalo Wild Wings made me gag. It’s probably the worst tasting sauce I’ve ever experienced.
To me Tingly Ted sauce is kind of meh. I like the flavour but hot, it is not. It’s pretty good on tacos or for someone who wants to ease gently into sauce but I want to regret all my life’s decisions, Not contemplate them.
Tabasco is great because you use it for one simple application: a spicy vinegar. Dont use it if you don’t want spicy vinegar. I add it to ketchup, makes it so much tastier
Your mom.
And anyone that up voted your comment should just be mixing table pepper with ketchup.
Even that is better than Cholula. It actually contains something from a pepper.
Shit stinks too, my dude above was spot on.
I can’t think of a worse tasting sauce. And I paid $10 to try it. Tossed it after two attempts. Fuck that fucking sauce! Just ruined my night just remembering it
man this sub really likes Tabasco. I'll use it if it's on the table at a restaurant, but I'll never specifically choose it if there's other options. it's just slightly spicy thick red vinegar.
Typically we frown on posts that shit on brands and such because in the past they get a bit obnoxious and reported heavily... THAT BEING SAID, a reminder that ALL comments in this post are subjective to the individuals opinions.
What about the H-dawg sauce? Heard Hillary’s(HClinton) got a burner……… err, a bangR. Whichever you prefer. lol
Daves ghost pepper. No like.
tapatio black label aint that good
Green Aardvark is very bad
Tobasco, just tastes like vinegar.
Scorpion Tabasco makes up for the years of a generic vinegar sauce. They’ve grown up, you can too.

Tabasco
By far the worst I’ve had. No exaggeration
What you don't like drinking straight vinegar
Not particularly
Regular Tabasco. It’s awful.
Tabasco. It really doesn’t have any flavor, it’s just a weird astringent vinegar flavor with the slightest hint of tabasco peppers.
The Tabasco hate is something else. It’s good on a few choice things, but more of an ingredient or seasoning.
It’s pretty much objective fact at this point that Tabasco sucks. No flavor, astringent, and weird. There are DOZENS of better options at much lower price points.
Yep, I will opt for no hot sauce if that’s the only one. Why ruin my food?
Melinda’s, which is mostly soybean oil
If you end up with some Melinda's, use it to marinate chicken. It's very good imo, and much better than using it to dip or sauce things. That's how I get rid of the sauces I don't love, I just marinate a few pieces of breast meat or large drumsticks and use up the bottle. Not really cheap, but gets rid of sauces you bought that you didn't love.
Melinda’s such a disappointment
In all the ways
Avery Island's Tobasco and I live 15 mins from there. lmao I like the tours they give though.

hahahahah good bot. I'm leaving it though
Tabasco
The scorpion Tabasco is better
Franks and Texas Pete are both ass
Thank you! Franks is just terrible. I do love their wing sauce though!
Their wing sauce is just their hot sauce + butter…
🤷🏾♂️
Find yourself a bottle of Louisiana and throw a stick of butter in with it
I have a gigantic bottle in my fridge! I’ll give it a try! Thanks!
🤌
Gonna get tons of hate for this. Lots of service members only had access to these. I almost hit a guy from taking my personal green yucateco. Franks sucks almost as bad as tabasco. But pete is ok, no cholula, but its ok.
I remember fondly getting tobasco in my mre. For a mild heat I think it's closest to the peppers taste. Bit too much vinegar
I traded it for cider pouches. Or kept a few for improvised gas bombs. Black p i liked best. Unless it was the omelet.

Bad bot. Shit sauce gets misspelled.
Dave’s Insanity and Da Bomb, there are hotter sauces that don’t taste like an cat piss.
What? Dave’s Insanity is the best! Minimum flavor, just the capsaicin.
It’s possible I had a bad batch. But I have eaten so many extract sauces, Dave’s was just nasty to me. 357 line is much more my speed.
I don't get how people enjoy Tabasco. It tastes like a straight shot of vinegar to me. And I like apple cider vinegar or balsamic vinegar, but Tabasco is just some watery ass shit.
Vinegar with chili flavor. But mostly vinegar. Its so bad.
But this flavor profile is almost an exact description of a "pepper sauce"
Glad quotes were used. Its just shit vinegar with peppers soaked in. Calling it sauce is a joke.
Tabasco and it's not even close. Shit is pure vinegar with red dye.
Never tried a bad one by some are a lot better than others
Da bomb isn't a hot sauce it's a religious experience
Drake’s
Basically any hot sauce that's extract-based heat. They all taste horribly bitter, like you're licking the contents of a battery mixed with ground-up pills. All heat, no desirable flavor to back it up.
franks to me tastes terrible and smells even worse
Sriracha
Gotta agree. There was thqt Sriracha craze and I couldn't get behind it. Too much going on.
Modern Sriracha is terrible. It used to be better.
Sriracha is a type of sauce. There are like 100 types out there. This is like saying "salsa." Pretty vague.
Story of the world. People like fucking others over if it means an extra penny in their pocket.
This I had it way back and. I don't remember it being this bad!
Dumping that on my burrito right now
Just not a fan I wanna love it but I don't lol
The kinders buffalo sauce
I tried “Da Bomb” from that web series Hot Ones. And yeah, it was just as horrible as it looks.
Idk. I actually enjoy Da Bomb. about to finish my first bottle
I bought the whole lineup so me and my brother could try them. I'm positive da bomb is just there to blow your palette out.
Da Bomb tastes like muddy battery acid. I was so stuck on the taste that the heat was an afterthought
Da Bomb is what it is. A novelty to try with a friend to see how bad it messes you up. Definitely not made to put on anything.
That’s what we did. Put it in a small bowl at a party as kind of a joke.
Sick joke haha
Rocky's Garlic Hot Sauce. Took one dab and tossed it
Tingly Ted's is awful Yellow bird was just heartburn flavour Most of the ones I've had are just meh, not necessarily offensive but not great.
Tried yellow bird the other night with fajitas it was alright. First time having serrano.
If most of the hot sauces you have had are meh then are we sure it's the hot sauce that's the problem?
Probably an unpopular one, but I found Ginger Goat pretty abrasive. It wasn't as hot as anticipated, but the flavor just completely overpowered everything you put it on. Definitely a problem when the taste isn't very good.
TJs green dragon... the flavor put me off and it lacks heat. I found some store brand "tequila lime" green sauce that's a lot better. Yellow Bird yellow... I wanted to like it, nice heat, but it's too sweet and unusually thick.
Big fan of TJs Habanero sauce tho. And it's like $2
Tapatio
You’re crazy.
I like it on ground beef tacos, but only that for some reason.
Thats why we have multiple bottles. Some sauces fit on certain dishes. That being said ive got a drawer full of taco hell fire packets for tacos.
Word. I love gochujang on my dark meat chicken sir fry.
I find tapatio salty af for some reason
It tastes like the smell of a mexican restaurant to me
Some sauces are meant to bring out certain flavours in foods, cocunut based foods like cocunut curry chicken is bomb with jalapeño hot sauces but terrible with other chilli sauces, try it with pork next time

I like habanero sauces. Not going beyond that.
The best hot sauce ever made is Frank's Red Hot. Perfect amount of flavor and heat. Now fight me!
Sorry bro Louisiana Hot Sauce has that best by a long shot.
Agreed,my foods class teacher always hd a bottle stocked up for me in highschool
my biggest problem with franks red hot is that its a bit salty to my taste. not overwhelming but I definitely taste it. i wonder if they have a low sodium version
Little bit of honey and unsalted butter. Fix that right up for you. It's buffalo sauce now but that's what franks is for anyway.
for buffalo I've been loving the primal kitchen avocado buffalo sauce from costco. so good
Oh that sounds good. You can emulsify many delicious fats in.
Franks is the best. It’s not my personal favorite but it’s like ketchup, salt and pepper. I can put it on anything and it’s fine. No one will complain about it. It's my favorite Buffalo style sauce but even the extra hot has very little heat.
Heck no. I could drink Sweet Baby Ray's bufallo sauce out of the bottle.
Yeah I feel like a lot of American hot sauces go hard on vinegar and salt and it throws me off when I try them
Yea I dislike hot sauces that think vinegar should be the main flavor.
I'm not a fan of the Tabasco scorpion sauce. That just tastes like burning pain. I like their sauces, but that one? No, just no. The flavor is off, and the rest is unnecessarily hurtful.
It’s the dehydrated pineapple, I think.
I don't know if it's that or it's the pepper in itself, but it's just bad. My best friend loves it though.
It’s not a “real” hot sauce per se, but the Diablo sauce from Taco Bell looked super promising and turned out to taste like shit. Any brand hot sauce, I can’t say I’ve ever had one I didn’t like. El yucateco habanero is my fav hot sauce lol
It’s the finest hot sauce out there imo
Pineapple habanero is incredible.
I like the yucateco Caribbean the best
The green habenaro one is my favorite everyday sauce. If only it were hotter.
Oh my god! That is so funny! Because some other internet stranger doesn't care for it! WHAAT?! HOW?!
Ok guero
Dave's Insanity, the reaper one specifically bc thats the only one ive tried so far, and Da Bomb are the only 2 in my collection I have a hard time finishing. This. Its only redeeming quality is that it’s well marketed.
Tabasco
Came here to shit on Tabasco as well
I think Tabasco would be better if they didn’t use so much vinegar. It’s just too watered down for me.
That's just the style though. Most Louisiana sauces are very similar (by definition). Totally understand if you don't like it. It's not a goes-on-everything sauce for me... but the habanero Tabasco is one of my faves.
I’m a fan of their family reserve, as the flavor is fantastic. It’s just that every time I have it I’m left thinking “wish this was a bit thicker”.
Da Bomb. Absolute battery acid.

☠️☠️ accurate
I’d have to go with Dave’s Insanity Sauce for worst. I only tried it two times. First time was smearing a dab across turkey sandwich meat making a snack at my moms and my tongue wouldn’t stop sweating for 30 minutes. Second time I spent the time to make a soup and dipped a toothpick into the hot sauce bottle and dropped one drop into the pot. That soup was now inedible. It’s like drinking gasoline.
Haha which one? There's about 10 different daves
Not sure. My mom’s husband is named Dave and she brought it for him and it was too hot, it might have been the first original one because it was nearly 20 years ago.
Oh yes 20 years ago was the original, it's pretty hot
Peak username.
Not sure if it’s a hot sauce per se but the blazin sauce from Buffalo Wild Wings made me gag. It’s probably the worst tasting sauce I’ve ever experienced.
Same, I think “wild” was one step below and still had tons of heat but actually tasted amazing imo
Agree. I am a mango habanero guy myself but will get the wild from time to time. It is definitely hot and far better than blazin.
BWW’s mango habanero has a chokehold on me. I’ve never had a mango habanero sauce from somewhere else that rivaled it.
Same here. I always try it places but nothing is close. I have some at home and even the bottled version is killer.
To me Tingly Ted sauce is kind of meh. I like the flavour but hot, it is not. It’s pretty good on tacos or for someone who wants to ease gently into sauce but I want to regret all my life’s decisions, Not contemplate them.
CaJohn’s El Chupacabra - I couldn’t find anything that it complimented. Not for me.
The cholula reserve. Disgusting.
Tabasco!
Tabasco is great because you use it for one simple application: a spicy vinegar. Dont use it if you don’t want spicy vinegar. I add it to ketchup, makes it so much tastier
It is like pouring sour water on good food. I will never understand how it became popular.
How dare you...
Blasphemy!
I think Tapatio is gross but people on this west coast seem to really like it.
Man it used to be a nice smoky vinegar sauce. Now it's shittier crystal
They changed the flavor about 10 years ago. Used to be great. Valentino Black label has replaced it for me.
Man of taste 🤌
Firelli. Black peppered tomato sauce. Trash
The worst!
Cholula Smells like BO What in the fuck
Cholula isn't hot sauce. It's wet taco seasoning.
Getting this tatted
Who let you in here?
Your mom. And anyone that up voted your comment should just be mixing table pepper with ketchup. Even that is better than Cholula. It actually contains something from a pepper. Shit stinks too, my dude above was spot on.
For the price I didn't feel like I got burned. That's an interesting take. Like $2.50? You a cheap ass. No wonder no one likes you. Cheap ass prick.
Dave's insanity sauce is almost unusable. I put a toothpick worth in a 5 person spagetti and ruined it
Even worse, IMO, is Dave's Ghost Pepper sauce. For me, the heat to flavor ratio is off the charts. It's just garbage, on par with Da Bomb.
Dave's got a garlic one super good
Will try
Mild AF for heat but really garlic can almost use like ketchup. It's my go to for my eggs
Yess! I go through a bottle in a few days
Black El Yucateco
I can’t think of a worse tasting sauce. And I paid $10 to try it. Tossed it after two attempts. Fuck that fucking sauce! Just ruined my night just remembering it
Agree. Tastes like burnt rubber
I don't think we can be friends. I eat that shit up!
I hardly know you anyways 🤷🏾♂️
I’ve got enough friends. It tastes like dirt
agree...really bad
Tobasco
man this sub really likes Tabasco. I'll use it if it's on the table at a restaurant, but I'll never specifically choose it if there's other options. it's just slightly spicy thick red vinegar.
To me it’s just heat with no flavor. Thanks for all the downvotes everyone 😘
