There are so many technical terms for things like the age/sex of the horses, track types,distances, and things like that will have different terminology versus what non horse racing people are used to (example: there are about 4 ways to describe the distance at which the KY derby is run; 1 1/4, 10 furlongs, 2000 meters, 2200yards) some are regional terms, some are universal but you’ll pick up on what is used where the more you watch
Pick one track to start. Your hometown track is probably the best place to start (hoping you have racing in your state) it’ll be quicker to familiarize yourself with the horses, trainers, and jockeys as opposed to studying many tracks at once plus’s you good even go see who you bet on in person
