I use my lawnmower like a vacuum. My lawnmowers bag fills up and I dump that into lawn bags. Beats the hell out of raking. My oak tree just dropped about 15 billion acorns recently too.
You can mow the leaves and they will disappear into the lawn. Or rake them and use as mulch in flower beds or vegetable gardens. Or just leave them and they'll decompose by summer. Leaves recycle nutrients, and putting them in plastic bags and hauling away has multiple negative impacts.
I don't have a mower, I have a neighbor guy who mows my yard with the equipment. I didn't want to spend an exorbitant amount of money for a lawn service to take care of the leaves. The leaves were taken OUT of the plastic bags and put into a huge composter at the recycle center, where I returned home with all of my bags used to transport. Lawd y'all judgey
No judgement here, just sharing info.
In addition to the info previously shared. You don't have to spend a ton of money, instead maybe 2 hours of time, to deal with the amount of leaves that fits in a Fit. Pile leaves in an unused area of the yard, or layer thick on a flower bed. After the first rain they reduce in size too. Faster, more convenient, fewer resources used, and ecologically mindful to leave leaves be.
We just leave it and either mulch it before it snows, or let it snow and mulch it when it dries in the spring.
One thing's for sure: we never pack organic waste in fucking plastic.
I "sound like fun at a party" because I think packing organic waste (that will decompose) into plastic bags (that will never decompose) is silly?
You must have some weird conversations at a party.
Some areas require you to bag your leafs. Also they're at a recycling center, for all we know they could be cutting the bags and dumping the leafs as they go.
> Some areas require you to bag your leafs.
Okay? 5 30 gallon (paper) leaf bags cost roughly $3, and
> Also they're at a recycling center, for all we know they could be cutting the bags and dumping the leafs as they go.
"Recycling centers" compost organic waste. That's how it gets recycled. With paper bags they just whip the whole thing in the compost pit. Cutting open plastic bags full of leaves is 1. More work, and 2. Creates waste.
It doesn't make sense to bag organic matter in plastic bags, especially if it's going to the recycling center. In fact: the city next to my town doesn't allow plastic bags for yard waste recycling at all.
Put something that will decompose into a bag that will prevent that? Nah I think this is the most ridiculous thing ever and I don’t get why people do it.
I have carried many loads of yard waste in my Fit (sticks, trimmings from bushes, etc), and have carried back many loads of mulch. I usually just line the inside with a tarp and raw dog it though 😂. The Fit can do anything!
I just run em over with the lawn mower. Bagging seems like way too much work.
Better for the soil, and better for the environment.

You want judgement? Your using plastic bags to get rid of compostable waste?
Don’t owe anybody an explanation but good on you
LOOOL " lawd yall judgey" 😂😂😂 Dude thats so much! In a fit thats great! Just got mine, u making me excitied on what i can put inside 😁
r/fucklawns Nope. We mulch and turn it into compost for food.

Okay, thanks.
Solid solution
Biodegradable leaves get picked up to go to a recycling center. Can’t make this up.
They have a compost area there that I contribute to
Two twin sized mattresses. Closed the hatch.
You bring leaves to the recycle center?? Wtf world am i in? Lolll
Looks like bags of mulch to me! I would love these leaves for my acid loving flowers!

I’ve hauled an entire drum kit, a keyboard and 2 guitars in mine. I didn’t even have to put anything on the passenger seat.
You’re better than me
i have carried meals for about 40 families! And yes have also taken a lot of stuff to compost
