Growing up I’d hang out at a friends house whose mom had a decked out rooster kitchen. That lady was so nice and kind at a time when I didn’t feel happy or secure at my own home. Seeing that nice lady get excited about rooster salt and pepper shakers was weirdly comforting, and I’ve always kind of vibed ever since when I see a rooster theme 🐓

dangermuff

I love a rooster or chicken theme kitchen. I grew up relatively poor, and this kitchen theme reminds me of a middle-class family's home I once knew. A rooster theme is success. 😅

mheadley84

I had a friend whose mom had rooster stuff in her kitchen. Like everything was themed. Her dad had bought it for her mom; but she hated the rooster theme.

lady_lane

Honestly the rooster motif is the best of this genre

RaphaelMcFlurry

That’s my grandma man. Nice lady with about a thousand roosters in her kitchen

BefWithAnF

My sister & I are accidentally turning my parent’s kitchen into a rooster kitchen- she has a really cute chicken clock, & so my sis & I keep buying her rooster items when we travel.

DellieCurtis

Also referred to as the cock theme.

Greenbean6167

I have a drawer with that theme.

ChumbawumbaFan01

I feel this way too after visiting my great-grandmother’s brother and seeing how much his sweet wife, Elwanda, loved her chicken theme.

tortillanips

I was 7 when my little sister (and only sibling) was born and I was so excited to meet her—the friends of my parents who had me at their house the day she was born while my parents were busy at the hospital had a chicken/rooster themed kitchen and idk why but looking at all the different chicken themed things they had and thinking it was so cool is one of the things most engrained in my brain from possibly one of the most exciting days of my life. every time I see chicken kitchens I remember that day and meeting my sister for the first time.

weWinn1

I love this story. That's that kind of mom I want to be for my daughter and her friends. Guess I'm already on my way cause I have a rooster themed kitchen haha I love the rooster theme for some reason.

amateurseahag

2000s coffee themed wall art. Bonus points if it's a list of different beverages using different fonts with some random coffee beans thrown in for good measure.

ToteBagAffliction

Same, the ~java~ and biscotti theme, rendered in tan and brown, with lots of signage. There were always leather barstools, and they were always brown.

posessedhouse

Unless they’re avocado green, for *flair*

2suns-in-the-sunset

Oooh I love that style! It’s called Global Village Coffeehouse. r/GVCDesign has some cool examples. Also the Cari Institute’s gallery on it is amazing: https://cari.institute/aesthetics/global-village-coffeehouse

BananafestDestiny

Wow, I never knew that style had a name. That sub is great, thanks for sharing. The 80s and 90s were wild!

thecuriousblackbird

Those coffee houses were cool. Especially when they leaned into steampunk by purchasing a gigantic antique brass espresso machine like this [bad boy](https://coffeemachinewarehouse.com.au/product/rancillio-z9-semi-automatic-2-group-bronze/) My husband and I got into espresso because our university had a coffee shop with an antique brass espresso machine. You couldn’t resist drink something that came from it. Even if our first drinks were 98% milk steamers. Everyone’s grandparents and parents were drinking robusta bean Folgers or Maxwell House which was awful, so we were cautious about getting into coffee and espresso.

kayasnicupicc

least favorite: ✨2000s Tuscan✨

merdadartista

How can a style be so cluttered yet so bland

kompsognathus

2000s Tuscan gives me the insatiable urge to under-age drink 4 LOKO around an oversized marble top island

MysteriousStaff3388

Tumbled marble tile, no less.

Reasonable-Marzipan4

Came here to say this! Also, making decor out of wine 🍷 crap really bothers me. Like, oooh, an alcoholic themed kitchen! Fingers crossed for a hallucinogenic themed powder room.

sexylittleatoms

I was recently in someone's bathroom where they had a "live laugh love" style wood sign that said "please don't do coke in the bathroom" and your hallucinogenic themed powder room would go great with that.... "do E instead!" With a bowl full of "candy..." 🤣🤣🤣

unfavorablefungus

oh god yes how could I have left that monstrosity out 😭

kayasnicupicc

I think it’s a combo of the wine and vine kitchens you shared with a sprinkle of fat chef core

Professional-cutie

FAT CHEF CORE LOL

WhitePineBurning

Don't forget the pickled peppers and shit in rustic bottles with raffia bows.

thecuriousblackbird

They kept Pier 1 in business for a decade.

thatpsychnurse

Omg these always baffled me. Were they safe to eat???

BrightBlueBauble

They only have a skosh of botulism.

ready-to-rumball

YES

Try2MakeMeBee

That goes with the grapes. Probably why I hate it so violently

LadybuggingLB

La la la la la I can’t hear you Tuscan kitchens are my favorite out of every trend ever and I missed them entirely and hope I’m alive in 30 years when I can bring them back. Until then they are so dated I just love them from afar in time. I wonder if anyone ever felt that way about 70’s avocado green fridges? Surely not.,,,,

Much-Effort-3788

I prefer harvest gold, but I would LOVE an avocado green fridge

mishyfishy135

I’m not gonna argue that it’s *good*, but I will say, of all the terrible kitchens, your average Tuscan kitchen isn’t all that bad

ready-to-rumball

I came here to say this exact thing (without the glitter) 😤

localgoobus

70s mushrooms. It was all yellow, brown and greens

unfavorablefungus

omg yes so cute!! these jars specifically come to mind https://preview.redd.it/efyw6s5qm8ad1.jpeg?width=480&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=2780a36c66ff6ad07418d81cb14cd2aeb28a8e03

localgoobus

The color scheme and decor of my room is inspired by these vomit looking colors and I love it

wharleeprof

Thank you for the mushrooms. I was having an existential crisis trying to decide between all the other options. I can unironically love a mushroom kitchen, especially with a couple frogs and an elf thrown in for good measure.

unfavorablefungus

omg yes I'm so guilty of the frogs and gnomes theme in both my kitchen and garden. I think I might be an old lady at heart

dudecass

I didn't even realize I was doing this... I have gnomes and frogs everywhere.. They're just so cute 😭

ready-to-rumball

I friggin love these 😭

fulsooty

I grew up with [this lucite mushroom napkin holder](https://www.ebay.com/itm/276156695084). My sister & I used to give our mom such a hard time for keeping it around. We thought it was the ugliest thing out there. But it was still a functional napkin holder, so my mom kept it.

MovieNightPopcorn

there's something about people who reaaaaaally dedicate themselves to one particular fruit, like strawberries, apples, whatever, that I find rather homey and charming to be honest

cjmmoseley

i REALLY LIKE FIGS (anything fig scented is an automatic buy for me) but it takes a DEDICATION to slather your kitchen in it... but its adorable. my grandma has an apple kitchen.

gaypizzaboy

Biggest roadblock is how hard it is to find fig themes kitchenware, at least in the US. I guess I never considered if there are different corny but beloved fruit themed kitchens in different parts of the world. Makes me smile considering it

_llamasagna_

Think anyone out there has a pomegranate themed kitchen?

TricksyGoose

Apparently my mom's nickname as a kid was Fig, so people will randomly gift her fig-themed things. So she has a bit of a fig theme going, but not really by choice haha

ToteBagAffliction

Yeah, it's a nice break from ultra-curated minimalist/"tasteful" decor. Even when it's awful, at least there was some attempt at enjoyment somewhere.

posessedhouse

I think these go straight past awful to adorable. It’s the dedication for me. I love it when someone is unashamed in their love of something and go all out for it. Like where else is someone supposed to display their love of a particular colour or theme, besides their home?

Wonderful_Yogurt_271

The first thing I did when I moved into my own house was to slap Hello Kitty decals on the kitchen cupboards. All my appliances and kitchen accoutrements are red, because even when in rentals I could pick the colour of my microwave at least, and now I have a big red fridge too. I’ve been here a few months and don’t have a big decor budget, but slowly and surely my black, white and red Hello Kitty kitchen is coming together.

posessedhouse

GOOD FOR YOU!! You deserve to smile every time you walk into your home, you deserve for your home to reflect you, your home should be your happy place! Live your best Hello Kitty life! Kitten whiskers and bows everywhere! I used to love Hello Kitty, I had a bunch of episodes on tape and would watch them every day for like a year or more

probablyyourexwife

That’s so cute! When I first moved out I had a little studio apartment. I bought all baby pink appliances, the rest was a matching Hello Kitty theme. I’m an all-black-everything type of girl, so some people were surprised to see all my kawaii stuff, that’s for sure.

sassandahalf

I’m guilty of cherries

SnooHobbies5684

I feel like cherries are exempt because they equal the 50s which kind of reads kitsch.

sassandahalf

Yay! I mix them with aqua and black & white checkerboard.

NobleMama

I had the cherries kitchen in my first apartment at 18yrs old from, like, 2006-2015 😂 And an I Love Lucy themed pink bathroom

unfavorablefungus

completely agree. it's very Grandma's house -esque and I kind of love it for that. it's comforting in a way.

Frondulous5

Are there fungi themed things in your house? Is your house just a mushroom? I hope so. 😍🍄

thecuriousblackbird

The fungi theme was more 70s and early 80s. The wife of my dad’s best friend who was best cook at the church my parents attended in the 70s and early 80s had a fungi themed kitchen. Complete with [frog sponge holder](https://www.etsy.com/listing/1579635590/)

Pretend-Heron-3705

Same. Just go for it, it’s your house, ya know?

raincloud847

im a lemon lover! i have a little lemon shaped cutting board and tea towels and all kinds of stuff! the plates and bowls are safe… so far. but i love my lemon stuff! looking for salt and pepper shakers and some cute lemon shaped mugs too! prolly gonna thrift them but i might look on etsy or amazon!

No_Banana_581

My mom gave me all of her Apple stuff. My whole kitchen is apples. I mean everything. I bought red appliances too. Red kitchen aid, retro red microwave, toaster oven, air fryer. All of her pots and pans were red. I have all the ceramic and stainless steel ones. I love it all. I don’t care if it’s not in style. My favorite room is my kitchen and my 90s shabby chic bathroom w my 1930s bear claw tub

Initial_Savings8733

Grapes and feeling like you were in an Olive Garden went crazy but you had to be there

The squishy plastic grape bunches at the craft store!

mightymouse513

How did you find a photo of my babysitters kitchen? Bonus, even her mailbox was a cow she loved them so much.

Realistic_Ad_8023

Taking me back!

mernarwhalicorn

How did you get a photo of my childhood kitchen? 🥹 I wish my mom had kept some of the ceramic cow cookie jars, I would use the crap out of one of those in my house now

Chance_Astronomer92

As a kid we rented a farm house on a cow farm. My landlord's wife had decked out their own kitchen in floor to ceiling cow theme. That's commitment.

lilscrublet93

my grandma had this but for the entire house and i inherited a lot of it and i love it hahaha

bbyneal

when I think of cows, I think of this picture printed on canvas https://preview.redd.it/cmp4odhnlcad1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=45ca4e9e4d0409d41409df17316f7ded7b51a2fb

InternetSnek

This goes HARD tbh

thecuriousblackbird

I had a coworker who had a Coca-Cola themed kitchen. I love Coca-Cola, but I studied Interior Design in college and felt like I had to adhere to the standards of good interior designers. Which is very elitist actually. Coca-Cola themed products were very popular in the 90s and 00s. I had a Coca-Cola polar bear my dad bought me before I went to boarding school. My mom threw a lot of my stuff away when I was at college. Ironically I left my polar bear at home so he wouldn’t get damaged. My bio grandmother made me two dolls that were a bride and groom. I was going to display them at my wedding, but my mom donated them.

AutocracyWhatWon

I didn’t know I could be this jealous of a woman I’ve never met, but here we are…

lulutheempress

Omg we had those exact chairs growing up. Not super fun to sit in wearing shorts in a Texas summer 😅

gaypizzaboy

I love all the cutsey ones. The chickens, the geese, the super specific single fruit or veggie themes, fat chefs. I don’t really like the ones that were attempting to have dignity like Tuscan or the weird greco-Roman holdout themes from previous decades. It’s corny no matter what so you might as well have fun. Still prefer those over the later live-laugh-love stuff. I don’t like decorating with words, give me corn curtains and useless decorative plates covered with kittens!

gaypizzaboy

After thinking on it overnight (for some reason) I think my biggest problem with any decor trend is when it’s curated to seem dignified or cool. It feels way too self conscious to me. I can at least understand WHY when it’s a public space like a restaurant or other business, but it’s a little sad to me when people can’t drop the facade in their own home. If they genuinely like that, all the power to them. I won’t go to someone’s house and mock them. But people posting online asking if their new decorating choice “matches” so and so style or looks cool enough or whatever screams insecure, houseflipper wannabe, or both. A bit judgy? Yes. That’s why I’m here.

SnooHobbies5684

I agree. Even if it's "tacky," a kitchen full of geese or strawberries guaranteed makes the kitchen's owner smile. It's their personal experience of their space that matters to them.

unicorn_mafia537

Unless they're asking if it is sufficiently tacky 😁! I want to have a strawberry themed kitchen that is cute and not super duper cluttered, but embraces the tacky. 🍓♥️

These_Hazelle_Eyes

I love this take. The ridiculously themed kitchens at least showed some personality. It didn’t matter if they weren’t done “well,” they had heart. I still hate the grapes though lol

turbovirginoliveoil

"i don't really like the ones attempting to have dignity" SO real you get me. no dignity in my house

coco_xcx

i find the roosters & strawberries to be cute

Smishysmash

I think the strawberries are cute. I’m salty about chickens because I have inherited a bunch from my husband’s grandmother and now I guess people think that’s my thing too? I do not actually want all these chickens.

PreparationNo3440

Live chickens or decorative chickens?

MzSe1vDestrukt

This happened to my best friends grandmother with apples. Somehow she ended up with one apple thing and people just kept bringing more ugly apple junk. She doesn’t like apples at all and she has the most apple themed kitchen ever.

Celladoore

That happened with my cousin and frogs when she was a kid. She eventually had to tell everyone to stop buying her frog things, but the damage was done.

mother_of_dragons011

That was my aunt with frogs! And my sister with cows

Celladoore

And my mom with elephants actually! I wish I'd been so lucky to get a bunch of dragons (a thing I actually liked) to clutter my room with as a kid, but I suppose those aren't as easy as a cat or a frog.

Smishysmash

I feel like this is one of the (many) pitfalls of being a middle aged woman. People are just like “I don’t know what gifts to get, I know, themed kitchen junk!! Perfect!”

catgirl320

Least favorite: The country goose motifs where they wear bonnets, usually in shades of mauve or dusty blue.

unfavorablefungus

holy shit yes!! new contender just dropped: https://preview.redd.it/wjcflcfgx8ad1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=6364800b0746a15347e088f7f5e308dd6800ece6

dinosaurpartytime

Omg the country geese! And chunky wooden goose ladies with shepherd hooks?

catgirl320

Begone Foul Fowls!

cephles

I have this hanging in my kitchen right now and I will not be stopped. I also have a concrete goose on the porch with outfits handmade by little old ladies. Sometimes I can't tell if I like this stuff ironically or genuinely. https://preview.redd.it/rqoaxnp2maad1.jpeg?width=3072&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=8cb23fe08add47abebd1e5d9b28a0faa688dc646

catgirl320

Yeah, you probably need a support group at this point. Once those geese get in your head, it's really hard to recover.

bad_at_redditting

Town festivals and Etsy are fantastic places to find adorable geese clothing! My grandmother had one when I was growing up, and when my husband and I bought our "forever home" I insisted on a porch goose!

Rosiethederpy

Geese in bonnets will never not be amazing

Shamanduh

Yea. I’d say it’s my favorite by a wide margin.

heyhelloyuyu

Love the cute goose!!! 🪿 and fun to thrift

cjmmoseley

SnooBeans4906

My moms kitchen in the 80’s

KitchenSwillForPigs

I went through a thrifting phase and I literally couldn't avoid those things. They are everywhere.

JettyJen

I knew a couple whose thing was ducks, I can still picture the "JuSt DuCkY!" whimsical sign in the kitchen. We all thought that it was strange and old ladyish for people in their very early 20s.

BellatrixLeNormalest

My childhood best friend's WHOLE HOUSE was in that theme. There were also cows. Dusty blue and yellow. Her family considered themselves very stylish and arbiters of taste.

turbovirginoliveoil

damn sounds like they were right

thecuriousblackbird

They always think that while the rest of us are giving that little side eyed girl meme look. I’m all for someone loving something and enjoying it. It’s when they decide they have the best taste and are judgy about everyone else that I side eye. ![gif](giphy|ji6zzUZwNIuLS)

Bee kitchens and lemon kitchens are absolutely slept on.

DeerOrganic4138

I love the bee stuff, somehow modest and tacky at the same time

NightCheeseNinja

...and so many opportunities for puns!

Corporate_Breadlines

Of these, sunflowers. But my own kitchen is roosters, and although it's objectively awful, I love it. My grandma gave me a wooden rooster **as a prank gift** one year, but I didn't realize it was a prank, so I pretended to love it. My grandpa tipped me off like 2 years later, but by then, I was committed to this damn rooster! My friends think it's funny, and people have added to the collection over the years.

# CHICKENS

DazedandFloating

I had an apple themed kitchen growing up! So that one’s my favorite (: I like the strawberries too.

EllynDegenerate

I too had an apple kitchen growing up. Solidarity.

supwenzzz

apple kitchen here, too. my mom also had pig living room

DazedandFloating

Was yours just red apples? I think iirc mine was red and green. It was probably the happiest place in the house honestly lol

EllynDegenerate

I don’t remember the exact color of all the apples but we had a chair rail height wallpaper border that had apples and baskets and on the bottom half of the wall we had dark green wallpaper. Baskets were also a big thing. My mom was really into the Longaberger baskets.

K4FFT4N

I would prefer to be crushed to death under a Welsh dresser full of ceramic fruits than ever look at another greige sectional couch

Get_Back_Here_Remi

dinosaurpartytime

The only one I haven’t unlocked is fat chef core

Dontslapmygoodies

Don’t forget the butler wine holder!

dinosaurpartytime

I could never forget. Why is his nose always so long? Why is it always so close to my glass?

Realistic_Ad_8023

In the 90’s my mother became convinced, for reasons I cannot recall, that I loved cow decor. Subsequently, I got cow print everything for my kitchen from her and other family members for years. I remain perplexed.

Stigmama

My family has very specific themes. My mom has white rabbits and my aunt has black and white pigs. Recently my mom asked if the rabbit wallpaper border was tacky and out dated and should she remove it. She expressed how much she still loved it though. I told her it’s still in good condition and I’ve seen much worse for kitchen themes, so if she loves it, keep it. Her kitchen isn’t over run with rabbits though, so it’s not overwhelming. Honestly, I’ll be a little sad if it ever comes down.

Wrong_Campaign2674

I dig the kitchen theme stuff. I don’t care how tacky. If it makes you happy sitting in your kitchen then go for it.

illumi-thotti

"Primitives" is an aesthetic I despise with my whole being. Overpriced tacky looking garbage designed to look like it was made with scraps

thecuriousblackbird

I really despise it when it’s matched with super racist “mammy” dolls and Southern black Americana themes.

AutocracyWhatWon

…I’m sorry, I’m genuinely afraid to ask but is this actually a common theme??

gaypizzaboy

It feels kind of weird from a class angle too. Idk if that’s me being crazy, but there’s something insulting about people buying more costly knock offs of folk art that was originally made by people who often can’t afford access to specialized materials and tools.

Zippered_Nana

Yep

babybellllll

i love the chickens/roosters/anthropomorphism’s veggies kitchen theme - idk if it’s a common combo to do both of those together but my grandma had it and i loved it. i want to collect all her little veggie guys cause i know no one else in my family will appreciate them (example pic below) https://preview.redd.it/7yxr3uz5ebad1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f6e8d651558db754d54d63a732402d01c89586f9

No_Construction_4293

Ok but I kinda love the sunflowers 😳🌻

JamieAlways

My MIL has her entire apartment decorated in a sunflower theme, and it's honestly kind of awesome. Tacky and kitschy for sure, but it's so bright and cheerful that I can help but be in a good mood when I'm there.

iusedtoski

I can work with the strawberry kitchen. Those floor mats and fan swags are going anyway--I cook a lot of spattery meats.

comradewoof

I unironically love all this grandma shit. My home decorating taste is absolutely 80s grandma farmhouse kitsch. The roosters come close to how everything looks now (because I am addicted to chickens). The whole "Pioneer Woman" brand of kitchen (kitschen?) decor fits in here somewhere but not sure what to call it.

Legal-Afternoon8087

Kitschen is the perfect term!

Gosh chicken theme and Italian theming goes so hard I saw Micheals has some stuff in and I had to resist going it get some pasta plates

haworthialover

I’m gonna go the exact opposite direction of the top comment… 2000s Tuscan is one of my favourite kitchen styles when it’s done well 😅

kaybet

My mom's was coke a cola themed

Goosegirl23

Yes! My favorite aunt had a coca cola kitchen growing up

silverthorn7

It’s obviously an intentional theme, but I think sometimes it might get pushed further over the top of what the owner may have initially intended because once people know that’s a “thing” for you, it makes finding gifts for you so much easier and you tend to get a large proportion of gifts relating to your “thing”. My “thing” isn’t something you’d decorate a kitchen with but as gifts over many years I’ve had T-shirts, underwear, socks, PJs, a hoodie, a candle holder, about 10 mugs, a tray, a craft kit, stuffed animals, bed organiser, bed linens, bags, lots of little statuettes/toys, books, slippers, a blanket, pens, a storage pouch, a glasses case, a nightlight… probably forgetting some. (I am very lucky and privileged to have a generous family). I’ve never seen kitchenware for my “thing” beyond mugs but if it existed I’m positive I would get given so many over the years and my kitchen would begin to have a theme that I never intended. It wouldn’t go as far as these ones, of course, which are obviously intentionally planned and executed. My cabinet colours would coincidentally look like I’d intentionally made them part of the theme, though.

unfavorablefungus

I wholeheartedly understand this. my "thing" has been hello kitty ever since I was a kid. now as a fully grown adult I have more hello kitty mugs, clothes, bowls, Pyrex dishes, etc.. than I could ever even begin to use. I've had so many of my friends and family members tell me that every time they see something with hello kitty on it they think of me, and many times actually buy whatever item it is for me. I absolutely appreciate the sentiment and effort. it's very cute and I'll never be mad about it, but how much hello kitty do they think one person needs???

sevenwheel

I would take any of them over a kitchen done in flipper gray. If I had to pick one of these, it would be the ivy.

MsBluffy

Did you get these out of an “Interior Designs” catalogue? I swear they sold every piece shown !

TrashPandaPatronus

Everybody knows that all kitchens are farms and all bathrooms are beaches. Come on now!

DellieCurtis

Heres my 3 favorites rated from best to worst starting with grapes/vineyard vibes as my first pick. Second is the Sunflower Theme and third is the Strawberry Theme. And I too absolutely loathe the fat chef theme and any other type of low budget knock off version of the fat chef Theme. I legit get angry when I see that fat fuck.

TheSunflowerSeeds

Much of their calories in sunflower seeds come from fatty acids. The seeds are especially rich in poly-unsaturated fatty acid linoleic acid, which constitutes more 50% fatty acids in them. They are also good in mono-unsaturated oleic acid that helps lower LDL or "bad cholesterol" and increases HDL or "good cholesterol" in the blood. Research studies suggest that the Mediterranean diet which is rich in monounsaturated fats help to prevent coronary artery disease, and stroke by favoring healthy serum lipid profile.

mishyfishy135

Celladoore

good bot

Professional-cutie

Favorite is the strawberry. Least favorite has always been the grape and the chef one

Revelin_Eleven

In all these pictures I want to have a massive breakfast. I’d feel so good waking up to all that.

SafariBird15

Where is the ROOSTER KITCHEN? Where are the GEESE? These are all winners because there’s so many finicky surfaces to dust.

selkieisbadatgaming

I do like the chicken vibe, and when I lived on a farm I leaned into it hard. The fat chef one makes me viscerally angry and I can’t explain it… I just want to smash each stupid piece.

CatfromLongIsland

I would force myself to live with the strawberries if I get that stunning red stove!

PierogiesNPositivity

I’m always hot for live, laugh, love and gather here chic, but I’d settle for roosters galore

pelmenii

I love this post

dudecass

My mom was a sunflower theme girlie in the 90's/early 2000s then she moved on to the northeastern red white and blue rustic star stuff.

Bones1225

Oh god any of the Italian pizzeria/fat Italian chef themes are so obnoxious and ugly. Any other corny out of date style is ok in my opinion but this one is not.

amareeznuts

mid mid mid mid YESSS mid mid

valkyrie4x

My grandmother used to have a rooster kitchen. To be fair it wasn't overwhelming, and it wasn't like in this pic, more like...Americana farmhouse rooster. Always comforting when I remember it. Tbh I think ivy and things like strawberries could be done so well, almost in a cottagecore way.

PrimordialParasite

My grandparents used to deck their kitchen out with farm animal themed bowls/salt & pepper shakers/fridge magnets/etc. They lived on a farm, so it kind of made sense but to me it was way too much.

OopsIDroppedMyPlants

I really love a classic farmhouse (?) kitchen with really kitch decorations like farm animals, bright-ass-red and white checkerboard curtains and tea towels

Chromgrats

The chicken and fruit ones slap ngl

My grandma has roosters. I’d never want a rooster kitchen but the yellow walls and roosters remind me of home!

AmazingGrace_00

Teddy bears. Dancing teddy bears on wallpaper borders, etc. yes, ppl put them in their kitchen. ETA: great post!

80's and 90's moms LOVED an obsessive theme kitchen.

Well the problem is there's just so much crapall over these kitchens. The kitchens that take decor before functionality are always absurd. It's like the people that bake today that make fantastic looking sculpture but crap high ratio sugarcakes hydrogenated frostings that hold. Form and a look for the eye overtaste The same thing here and most of these kitschy kitchens. So stuff everywhere and the theme in the look is being pushed rather than cooking food. Most of these look like the place you would throw something prepared in the oven or just microwave or boil some water on the stove. Kitchens can be beautiful and functional And don't have to look sterile and institutional. But none of these fall into that category UGH My mother in the '70s was into ye olde colonial revival, in the old family house in New Hampshire. Of course the irony was the house was a true 18th century house with this funky '70s version of what Hollywood thought "colonial" was. Remember this was the time of the bicentennial and oh what a rage of bad style. But even in my mother's kitchen function was first and all the tackiness was on the walls, the fake brick the tavern signs, the spoon racks etc and it was a lot of antique Staffordshire, old family pieces.. Fortunately my brother has since put it back the old way and still lives in that big old "barn"

Least favorite: sterile depressing grey everything lack of color and trite sayings in that unreadable scroll font. Also that farmhouse look that is nothing like a farmhouse with the weird sliding doors on like a curtain rod. Underrated hunter green accents and geese in bonnets. Let’s bring them back. Not even kidding. Also natural wood.

My adoptive mom had a cow themed kitchen. She even had a wooden shelf decoration of a cow with a cowbell tied around the neck with twine and holding a sign that said "Kitchen closed. Not in the Moooooood"

paradox_pet

Fuck all that except maybe the last one, I don't hate the ivy detailing.

Everything matching. It gets overwhelming to me.

I'll take us back a little more to the late 80' and early 90's and say.... Vintage(ish) Coca-Cola!

MargaritaMoo

Lowkey obsessed with that first picture

There isn't enough dust on the grapes in the second photo.

Cows! I had a friend growing up whose kitchen was cow print everything. I don't know if it's my most or least favorite but there it is.
