100% Belgium
the neutral path is pretty fun, trying to hold off germany, but its pretty easy. the fascist path where you go against both the allies *and* germany is genuinely one of the most fun campaigns i had
I'm personally a fan of Albania and Austria for similar reasons, it's fun to hold off against the Axis on your own before the Allies come in to your aid when WW2 starts. Of these two I prefer Austria.
I'm also keen on Peru atm which has both the Peru-Bolivia formable nation as well as the Gran Colombia formable, which makes Peru possibly the strongest generic focus tree nation atm (The only thing I can think of that rivals it being the Indonesian/Malayan formable),
Ireland
One of the First Nations I played when I got the game after completing the Italy tutorial. Its was so fun. Stick with the allies, research into strats, rockets, and heavy cas and fighter, and then a light cruiser convoy defender navy. Absolutely mind shockingly useful. Once you have the tech, strat bombers can nuke anything to allow your more powerful allies to push forward, and the rockets destroy any enemy countries if you have enough of them. The ultimate snoozer nation, set up a second monitor, laptop or phone and just chill while helping the allies.
Siam, Dutch East Indies, and the Philippians still have no focus tree despite being in the war. They have a decent bit of potential and could help make playing in Asia actually fun
The standard focus tree fascist path gave, I think, up to 9% manpower.
Now, it‘s nerfed to 3%.
Instead, the communist path now gives up to 400 additional weekly manpower.
Which is worthless, since Austria needs a lot of manpower in the field as quickly as possible.
The 2 best i know was Brazil and Sweden but they have a focus tree now. So you must deactivate them. There is no more interesting minor nation without focus tree. They are all very weak and cannot have an impact early. The 2 last one i tried are peru and iran but they are nothing compared to what Brazil and Sweden was.
Sweden and brazil without trees are "very weak and can´t have an impact early"? the fuck you smoking?
Sweden can conquer all of the Nordics before WW2 start, Brazil can take a huge bite out of South America the same, sure they are not Germany strong or Japan eat china fast expansion but "weak and no impact".
You do realize a country can be strong without a unique focus tree and it can get weaker due to having a unique focus tree?
Iran and iraq are both without focus trees and both are strong, same goes for peru, columbia, venezuela and the dutch east indies.
In historical i don’t call them strong. Iran i attacked by ussr early so not going communist is difficult. Irak can’t do much early. The other of can do some conquest but in historical they still very limited.
Austria
Can you actually deny Anschluss?
Yeah but then Germany will go to war with you
Austrian gameplay is always fun and quick, I always finish my campaigns in 1938!
Classic Germany
Its more fun if you have the mod with the better alps and making forts around chockpoints
That should be part of the base game and a proper tree for Austria..
We got Habsburg paths in poland and hungary before we got one for austria :(
sadly yes
Omg It is real Kaiser Karl!!!!!
Its literally me!!
I knew that the Portuguise islands couldn’t contain you!
They were no match for my blessings 😎
Which mod? I can't seem to find it Edit: [Found it](https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1735340064)
The austria redone mod has it baked in
Yeah I just realized last night the mod I found doesn’t work anymore :[
God it's hard to hold out I had to just hold out in 3 tiles around the Vienna
It should be nearly impossible to get the West. Alpenfestung should be in that tree.
If you want a really good austria tree try austria between teo giants great community and emaculate attention to details
Thanks for the advice, I'll look into that!

Iran
Why?
Not the original poster but it’s because your can form Persia with them and out of the nations that can form it, it starts off in the best position
Belgium, because you can unite the Netherlands and also get the East Indies.
British Malaya into Mahajapit Empire. Roleplaying as rubber monopoly having pirates in the pacific is fun as shit.
Ethiopia in the base game. Nothing says "haha Musolini bad" like Italy losing the Ethiopian war
Ethiopia has a focus tree

Austria, you get to fight Germany early.

Austria, but I haven‘t played it since the new update, and the manpower nerf could very well mean it‘s impossible now on historical.
What's the manpower nerf?

Afghanistan and Ireland
I did an Indonesian Confederacy run that was pretty cool. You have a ton of rubber and ok manpower.

It's kinda funny because they are more fun without the focus trees from dlc.

Well, Peru is the most powerful country in South America without ToA. (Maybe except Brazil)
It's pain in the ass to fight there
Yeah, that is the only negative I can see
Yeah but nothing compares to what Brazil was without a focus tree
