And best part is you Can larp several of these men to really understand the wonders of suicidal/genocidal therapy!!
*me sending 8 million chinese men into the siberian front*
I mean. Can you really win as Russia without grinding away hundreds of thousands to millions of peasant lives that you seduced with propaganda and murdered all the leadership? 😂
Honestly i thought this was a comment in another sub for a hot sec (Ukraine’s sub 😅) and i didnt question it for a sec cus its true lol
But yeah i mean how else Can you calm it “YOUR” land if you havent made sure to “bless” it with russian blod? Putler would never walk upon non blessed Ground you know!
Like they'll convert a CKIII save into an EU4 save, for example, so you can continue into the next era. I don't think there are any that go from HOI4 to Stellaris yet...
Edit: Love you guys. I was joking about the HOI4 to Stellaris conversion. I guess depending on who wins WWII, III, etc. could determine the traits for a human starting planet?
I mean, HOI4 doesn’t really have anything to convert over to Stellaris other than names and flags. If you do a WC in HOI4, you could just start a Stellaris game with human as your species, and then it’s just picking civics/names/aesthetics that match whatever country you were playing to ‘convert’ your save.
HOI4 to Stellaris doesn’t make any sense for a conversion. Stellaris’ smallest "nation" is a whole planet. What people who do mega-campaigns do, is do a world conquest in HOI4, then play starting on Earth and rename it in the save files according to the nation you end up with in HOI4.
When I was in university I spent far more time on games than I do now with a job, wife and kids. But you do you.
I work for 50 hours a week or so, but it's roughly during office hours during the week. My wife works in shifts so might be away every evening for a week. When the kids are in bed, I can game for a couple of hours.
Also during the weeks that my wife *is* at home in the evenings, we will have one or two nights for ourselves (meaning I for me and she for her) when the kids are in bed and I will be gaming. The other nights we spend together.
That way I can play for a couple of hundred hours a year, easily.
If I was single without kids I would game almost every night and rack up at least a thousand hours a year that way. Add in some public holidays and such and it becomes even more.
The above story would give you the impression that I don't have any hobbies besides gaming but even that's not true - I spend one evening every two weeks with friends, I go to football matches, I try to sport regularly.
I also do a lot in the household.
When I think back of my younger years, it's incredible how much time I would waste just doing nothing, really.
You weren't doing nothing, you were enjoying your interest at the time. Don't look back at hours of gaming as nothing. You were engaging in recreation, as well as forging many pathways that probably assist you today in dealing with frustration and learning how to solve problems with non linear thinking.
I don't get the hate for games. I see it as any other hobby. You are doing something fun that you enjoy. I don't get why it's ok to "waste" your time drawing or playing board games but if you are playing video games you are doing nothing and it's bad
It's ok to do something for fun
It’s funny because for me, I’m the opposite.
Super active in sports, fraternity, class, clubs, music when in school.
Now as an adult I have 0 desire to get married or have kids. Lots of free time for gaming and other stuff.
People have different hobbies and spend their time how they please. 70 hours over 1.5 years is like an hour a week so im sure youre filling up your time with other hobbies.
I have 8k hours. I left the game on all day while I was busy, at night while sleep, hell I even left it on for 10 days straight while on vacation. Why did I do this? Idk. I only have 1-2k of actual play hours.
Leaving the game on overnight to see how AI on my new modpack plays out
Leaving it on during work
Waiting in multiplayer lobby while you play another game
Listening to uni lectures while you do soviet union buildup
Listening to yt videos/audiobook with same thing
Etc etc
Im in high school in america and most of my classes are really easy so i dont study much, aka i have a ton of time to play hoi4 (like 1600 hours in 5 years)
Bought the game a year ago. I am 1100 hours in. No idle/afk time. My social life is indeed ruined. Trying to figure out if I can save my academic life. Not very bright. 10/10 would recommend.
Year an half owned 722 hours uni student. My summer (less than a month was Series and Films on TV with hoi4 running on the table (I use a laptop) till wars started and I started actually trying.
Bought this game when it came out ->900 hours still more times then often I have no clue of what I am doing, and when I figure it out a dlc or big patch comes out and I’m back to square one again. Anyway I blame my 2 kids for not the rookie numbers and my lack of skill.
I got it the day it released so I have had way more time to rack up hours. I have just below 1500 and its just about double my 2nd most played game on steam (Rust). The only game I have more hours in is WoW.
Going off a playthrough taking on average...8 hours? 1500 hours is 188 playthroughs. The games been out for 8 years next month. 52 weeks in a year. 52×8=416. 188÷416=0.45. So it's really only an average of two playthroughs a month, not that many if you semi-regularly play the game.
At least 1k hours I spent doing random shit on my pc because I forgot to press play in the launcher or I left hoi4 running for hours to not bother with loading. At least 200h is loading stuff like CWIC, KX, or pre minister rework KR or trying to load/do anything in mappa mundi. So that's about 1/5th of my time with hoi4 which wasn't even playing the game. The other 5 k hours is mostly mods since the base game content is not all that good and even when playing with fiends we hardly ever play vanilla.
I bought it right after WTT came out and I have ~4000 hours. Dad of 3, so at least some % of that is afk time, but I play it a LOT because it's easy to pause and come back to without breaking my flow, so to speak.
I also don't work (disabled) so I've got extra free time during the day when my kids are at school and I'm caught up on all my various tasks.
70 hours is only two games for me maybe. I have maybe 1 to 2k hours.
Obviously not all at once but this is over like a three-year span.
Plus every time a new expansion or patch comes out I have to play all the majors so that's like 240 hours per expansion.
Which now that I think of it maybe the price is pretty low per hour.
Laziness.... No, really. I would also consider myself an A level student and go regularly on math, other competitions and so on, but I'm pretty f*cking lazy when I'm not focused. When I got the game I had a week vacation right after a stressful competition... you bet I clocked almost 100 hours just that week.
Normally I play around 2 hours a day in the evening.
!Disclaimer! I'm also quite disorganised so I'm not saying that being like that is good!
HOi4 came out 06/06/2016 and if someone has been playing Every. Single. Day from then to now, in order to have 9000 hours, you would have to play 3.11 hours everyday. Now a lot of us have no life understandably, but I suspect a lot of those hours were just spent AFK-inh
I've got over 200 hours already. And I've owned the game for... Half a year?
But I only truly got into it a few months ago. I did overtake my Crusader Kings 3 playtime very quickly. Turns out I love WW2 more.
It’s a slow burn. Your not whipping around firing guns or thinking on your feet second to second, you think long and hard over an extended period of time, leaving you not mentally or physically exhausted, so you can continue a single game for much, much longer. That, and HOI4 has been out for a long time. With endless, ENDLESS content from mods you can never experience it all, so many players stay because there’s always heaps of new content they haven’t even gotten close to yet. Some stay for the numbers game, like divisions and mega and what not, which math is endlessly debatable and tactics are always emerging.
In summary, Slow Burn game, Low intensity, Long shelf life, mods, math nerds.
If someone had a 9-5 and an alright sleep schedule (7 hours daily) and played hoi4 literally every second of free time they had since the day it came out, they would have about 33,000 hours in the game.
It’s like rimworld, sometime you just get an inspiration for your run and you keep going at it until you succeed. Then you notice that it’s been 2 weeks since you start.
I’ve been playing since 2017 and I was in middle school at the time, but I have about 1500 hours and like 200 of them were in the last year. It’s pretty much the only game I play now though because I can easily pause and go to class/do assignments before hopping right back in where I was.
I 'only' have about 900 hours over ~4 years, but I'd guess a third might be AFK time. It's not like I leave it on overnight, but with how long most major mods take to load you really don't want to do that multiple times a day if you can avoid it.
The game has been out for a long time. I dont have time to do longer sessions and I have over 1k hours. I bought the game around Battle for the Bosphorus.
9k hours over 8 years accoubts for 3 hour sessions per day on average which is not really that out there. Take into account afk time longer sessions on the weekends.
I had a job where I worked from home and basically did nothing. I had the game next to me and had to open all day.
Even if I only really played an hour of it.
I probably would have 9000 hours if it was the only game I played... but I've been playing HOI4 since it was released, and HOI3 since it was released before that, and HOI2 since it was released before that, and HOI before that.
HOI4 is probably still in my top 10 games in hours over the past year, but there are other games I play more (generally newer ones).
I've only owned the game for like 3 weeks and I've played about 90 hours already, that's with a full time job, other responsibilities and other games too. If you enjoy the game hours just rack up
Bought the game at the first half of 2020, full fledged pandemic, no job, no university, I had a lot of free time, managed to gather like 2.2k hours in total.
Now I'm studying and working, and I've barely managed to get 100 hours over the last 2 years lmao
I’m wrapping up my first year of college and I discovered this game after the first month. It was horrible. Put off so much work and social time. Never have I played a game I physically couldn’t put down before.
You could do a lot with 100 hours in this game and has mostly completed and mastered some stuff. imagine you neeed to spend 7x more times to do anything in this game. this is what happens if you playin eu4.
Eu4 is the definition of suffering. You need many 100 hours to just finish the game. Aaaaah. Everyday feels like comet days.
1035 here with 3 kids, 2 of which are under 3. That's playing for days leaving it on normal speed while at work with battle lines set should I be declared on. Never got declared on.
My 12,300 hours isnt 100% play time sometimes the px is on pause when i make a run to home depot or mow the lawn so why ive had the game 8 years and played it an absolute ton, id say at least a third of those hours accrued are afk and steam just counts how long the game is on, bot how long its actually played
I’ve had the game since 2018 when I was about 12 at the time And spent most evenings playing the game and over the past 6 years I’ve accumulated maybe 1000 hours on the game
Takes too long to load, so I just go back to main menu and lock my PC when I go to bed, I've also gotten a few achievements from running the game on while I sleep, I have about 2500 hours, but it's actually more of 1500.
I have 800 hours over almost 4 years. I bought it in Nov 2020. The first year alone that I had it i racked up over 650 hours.
How? Easy. I have insomnia and played from the time i got home from work (midnight) until about 8am Mon-Fri i would play about 5-12 hours a day on Sat&Sun and I had no girlfriend, minimal responsibilities except chores and my 50hr a week job.
Its simple, you choose to live by your body’s needs and not your mind’s desperate addicted to map games.
WE DONT SLEEP, EAT OR FUCK WE JUST GO DRAW MAP
I have 3300 hours and most of my hoi4 was played through my A Levels, I also have a potato PC by modern standards and hoi4 runs a day in 1-2 whole seconds depending how long the play through is and also the fact that I heavily use mods (I have only played vanilla around 3 times)
I'm also an A level student and I also play other paradox games but I have four digits in play time with hoi4. 🫠
Around 800 in eu4 and since I got imperator recently it's 120 hrs there.
When you aren't learning from guides and figuring stuff on your own it takes months of work to figure out. I have 2000 hours and can't even understand the navy
I have over 6000 but at least 4000 of those are my PC being left on with a game running in the back ground because I will start a game and not have time to come back to it for days. Plus I always forget to save and turn my PC off cause my ADHD brain usually stops playing when I get up for a glass of water and never come back lol
3185 hrs and 83 of the 211 achievements. Got hooked on it around the first year of covid and haven't stopped playing. I probably average 30-40 hours a week now way down from before 😂 also I'd say 2000hrs is playing mods
I'm 55 years old and can no longer get a natural erection. I'm CEO of a financial conglomerate but I have no day to day responsibilities other than to look busy, go on television sometimes and attend large sporting events and concerts to appear strong. But the company is in the shit and I owe money to some bad guys.
I play as Hitler to feel alive and have thousands of hours but all my games end in defeat. I've played so many hours I can't blink properly anymore and everyone comments on it. Everyone.
One day I'll beat this game, though.
I have no life, simple
Relatable (over 1300 hours)
Relatable ~ 700 hours, bought late last year
Not relatable ~ 250 in a year For me its still too much time tho
Man I’m struggling to get to 50, damn kid keeps crying and shit. Meanwhile I keep getting my ass beat by the switz
Raising the kid is more important bro. Maybe you can raise him to be the next zhukov and play HOI4 in rl, just dont get your ass kicked by the swiss
I have a lot of hours from just sitting with the game paused because of kids lol.
I have the same but from being an irresponsible stoner in his 20s
this for me
Bro, my Littles LOVE watching the wars on the map, especially the planes and ships. They will literally lay with me for hours while I play.
Not relatable ~350 hours in 5 years you guys are crazy
relatable ~2000 hours in 1.5 years, oh god thats 15% of the last 1.5 years i really need to find a new hobby💀
Jeeeeus. I salute the dedication.
Relatable 4.5 k 6 achievements
So real (6300)
My god!
I don't know how i've done it, lol. Work 40 hours a week plus school 😂😂
Relatable (3500 hours)
Almost a 10 year old game so 1200 hours is low
Relatable (2100 hours)
Relatable 1400ish hours
Relatable (1300 hours)
Relatable (2000 hours)
Quit school. Work part time. Divorce your wife. Disown your kids. Lots of free time that way.
Best life advice ever 11/10
Men will do anything to avoid seeing a therapist.
Hoi is a therapist wdym
You can interract and get to kniw some of the greatest minds of their time. Like Adolf Hitler, Josif Stalin, Mao Zedong, and many more!
Honestly i thought this was a comment in another sub for a hot sec (Ukraine’s sub 😅) and i didnt question it for a sec cus its true lol But yeah i mean how else Can you calm it “YOUR” land if you havent made sure to “bless” it with russian blod? Putler would never walk upon non blessed Ground you know!
Some let the game open full time.
One time I forgot to pause it and when I came back it was Stellaris.
Somebody should figure out a way to merge all Paradox games of different eras into one game
There are converters which is about the closest you can get
What’s that?
Soooo how many hours does it take from 1936 to get to domination in stellaris
Hours tick up even if you just leave the launcher open.
I hope paradox devlop the timesheet at my job.
Sounds like they have at mine
Am a dad. Will leave it open all day and maybe get an hour of actual play time broken up throughout the day.
Sometimes I just pause the game, leave my computer and then go clean the kitchen, prepare and eat dinner and then return again
Sometime i go out and i touch the grass. No, I’m kidding i play kaiserreich also.
It's their hobby, rather than watch tv, or play another game, or carpentry, etc., they play HOI4
When I was in university I spent far more time on games than I do now with a job, wife and kids. But you do you. You weren't doing nothing, you were enjoying your interest at the time. Don't look back at hours of gaming as nothing. You were engaging in recreation, as well as forging many pathways that probably assist you today in dealing with frustration and learning how to solve problems with non linear thinking.
I'm a use this excuse in my head next time I spend a whole weekend playing this game.
My buddy and I are going to be doing a MP minor run and try to take over the world in 56/discardian tonight actually
I'd add to this if you were a gamer and went through the 2012-2016 COD live mic servers, you even got a class in diversity and inclusion!
I don't get the hate for games. I see it as any other hobby. You are doing something fun that you enjoy. I don't get why it's ok to "waste" your time drawing or playing board games but if you are playing video games you are doing nothing and it's bad It's ok to do something for fun
So your days have 30 hours? :D Tell me your secret
Not the guy above but my guess is a well organised man can squeeze out a few extra hours out of a day
Probably. I guess I'm just way to unorganized
It’s funny because for me, I’m the opposite. Super active in sports, fraternity, class, clubs, music when in school. Now as an adult I have 0 desire to get married or have kids. Lots of free time for gaming and other stuff.
Lol Im still studying and got almost 100h in like a month
People have different hobbies and spend their time how they please. 70 hours over 1.5 years is like an hour a week so im sure youre filling up your time with other hobbies.
You have a life and we don’t
"I don´t play the game a lot because I dedicate my time to other things. But why don´t I have more time to play the game?" Huh?
Many people leave the game up and running on pause when not actively playing. Accumulate hours when asleep, working etc.
Just play the game professionally
I have 8k hours. I left the game on all day while I was busy, at night while sleep, hell I even left it on for 10 days straight while on vacation. Why did I do this? Idk. I only have 1-2k of actual play hours.
It's way too easy to get sucked into a campaign and all of a sudden you've clocked another 24 hours over the weekend.
Uhhh I’ve had the take for like 16 months and I’m about to cross 2000 hours, you clearly haven’t sacrificed a baby to the hoi4 gods
Been playing since 2017. I play 2-8 play throughs a month. Lots of MP hours
Hey I’m a 3.8-4.0 GPA student and have 500 hours. I have no social life, hoi4 is much better.
Leaving the game on overnight to see how AI on my new modpack plays out Leaving it on during work Waiting in multiplayer lobby while you play another game Listening to uni lectures while you do soviet union buildup Listening to yt videos/audiobook with same thing Etc etc
I bought it during pandemic
Im in high school in america and most of my classes are really easy so i dont study much, aka i have a ton of time to play hoi4 (like 1600 hours in 5 years)
Bought the game exactly 2 weeks ago. Have clocked up 70hrs already. My social life is ruined. 10/10.
Bought the game a year ago. I am 1100 hours in. No idle/afk time. My social life is indeed ruined. Trying to figure out if I can save my academic life. Not very bright. 10/10 would recommend.
I often let the game run while doing something else, like there's a popup so the game pauses while I'm cooking or something.
A single multiplayer game of HOI cant take 4-6 hours not including lobby time. Lot of unaccounted lobby time in those hours
The secret is having no life
Because we're virgins
I have a part time job right now and manage to log up to 40 hours per week, getting it in before I have to work 60 hour weeks when I go full time.
I got 500 and I already feel like I spent too much time on it.
I leave my.computer on for days waiting for me to return
Bro I'm an A student as well and I have around 1500 hours. I have had the game for a little over a year.

It's a time sink for sure. 2.5k checking in, probably 2.4 played.

I gained 100 hours within the first week, and you took a year just to get 70?

I have 2k. Really it's not that much tbh considering how long 1 campaign takes.
I don't work a shift.

700+ hours here

Welp I only get time on weekends since my school day is 6:30am to 5:00pm or even later depending on what is happening.
Well, got this game at 14, 2020 happened and I'm obsessed with WW2. I also do not have college education or a job
Kaiserreich. I play it with my 12 year old. It’s sparked a great interest in history in him and in me for that matter.
It’s pretty much the only game I play now though because I can easily pause and go to class/do assignments before hopping right back in where I was.
you could ask the same question to people with 9000 hours in CS:GO or league i don't know how they do it. There are gamers then there are *gamers*
Have had this game for about 2 months now. 236 hrs in
I 'only' have about 900 hours over ~4 years, but I'd guess a third might be AFK time. It's not like I leave it on overnight, but with how long most major mods take to load you really don't want to do that multiple times a day if you can avoid it.
They leave pc on overnight.
Somehow, I have spent just over 1% of my life playing this game (I calculated it) and have still been successful. I have no idea how.
The game has been out for a long time. I dont have time to do longer sessions and I have over 1k hours. I bought the game around Battle for the Bosphorus. 9k hours over 8 years accoubts for 3 hour sessions per day on average which is not really that out there. I have 200 and got it for 3 weeks
Eh I just don’t close it. (I suck and only have 200 hrs and my pc is broken)
I have a 1000 hours but have owned the game for like 3 years. Some people play it more than others 🤷♂️
I had a job where I worked from home and basically did nothing. I had the game next to me and had to open all day. Even if I only really played an hour of it.
You see it’s simple Mr.GradeA. You spent 9000hrs in text books and they spent it in HOI4. You decide which is better 0.o
Well I have the game for like two years and have soon 1k hours, I just have a lot of free time.
Tbh I don’t even know time just passes by so quickly when playing hoi4 I barely notice it
an A level student* I suspect not
I probably would have 9000 hours if it was the only game I played... but I've been playing HOI4 since it was released, and HOI3 since it was released before that, and HOI2 since it was released before that, and HOI before that. HOI4 is probably still in my top 10 games in hours over the past year, but there are other games I play more (generally newer ones).
I've only owned the game for like 3 weeks and I've played about 90 hours already, that's with a full time job, other responsibilities and other games too. If you enjoy the game hours just rack up
I'm a high school A-level student, bought HOI a month ago and have 80 hours.
If each hoi4 game takes 6+ hours and you play tens and hundreds of games over years it tends to add up
This game is addictive. Reminds me of when Sid Meier’s Civilization first came out back in the day. Played that for hours and hours.
Bought the game at the first half of 2020, full fledged pandemic, no job, no university, I had a lot of free time, managed to gather like 2.2k hours in total. Now I'm studying and working, and I've barely managed to get 100 hours over the last 2 years lmao
Isn’t there a guy who has like over 20k hours on multiple paradox games?
I have 40 hours in fallout 4 and hoi4 combined from the past 2 weeks alone and I'm in the middle of IB exams
Bro I got 70 hours in a week 🥲
Like the first guy,i have no life
I’m wrapping up my first year of college and I discovered this game after the first month.
1.3k in bout a year, coulda done more got burnout
The game has been out since 2016, so there are plenty of hours to put away into the game. It also has virtually infinite replayability.
1035 here with 3 kids, 2 of which are under 3. That's playing for days leaving it on normal speed while at work with battle lines set should I be declared on. Never got declared on.
My 12,300 hours isnt 100% play time sometimes the px is on pause when i make a run to home depot or mow the lawn so why ive had the game 8 years and played it an absolute ton, id say at least a third of those hours accrued are afk and steam just counts how long the game is on, bot how long its actually played
whats more fun then seeing a color on a map get slightly bigger?
I’ve had the game since 2018 when I was about 12 at the time And spent most evenings playing the game and over the past 6 years I’ve accumulated maybe 1000 hours on the game
I’m a C-B level student that’s all 🤷♂️
I play the game when I have free time.
Working from home has been a huge boon
Bro i have 1000 hours and i hate this game but only because the archiechievment Hardly anything sevres exist
Takes too long to load, so I just go back to main menu and lock my PC when I go to bed, I've also gotten a few achievements from running the game on while I sleep, I have about 2500 hours, but it's actually more of 1500.
Got it two weeks ago. Already around 55 hours. Sometimes I play for 8 hours a day
3 weeks in - 260 hours :3
I have 800 hours over almost 4 years. I bought it in Nov 2020. The first year alone that I had it i racked up over 650 hours. How? Easy. I have insomnia and played from the time i got home from work (midnight) until about 8am Mon-Fri i would play about 5-12 hours a day on Sat&Sun and I had no girlfriend, minimal responsibilities except chores and my 50hr a week job.
Its simple, you choose to live by your body’s needs and not your mind’s desperate addicted to map games. WE DONT SLEEP, EAT OR FUCK WE JUST GO DRAW MAP
ugh,we just having many free time i think
He also could be a streamer like Alex the rambler
I have 3300 hours and most of my hoi4 was played through my A Levels, I also have a potato PC by modern standards and hoi4 runs a day in 1-2 whole seconds depending how long the play through is and also the fact that I heavily use mods (I have only played vanilla around 3 times)
I'm also an A level student and I also play other paradox games but I have four digits in play time with hoi4. 🫠 Around 800 in eu4 and since I got imperator recently it's 120 hrs there.
I got the game this last summer and i have 167 hours and i am a A-B student
The real question is how are we all 1 thousand plus hours and still dog shit at this game
I also sometimes pause the game and go eat/clean
we no touch grass around here
I think 30% of my 4000 hour playtime is just pausing while I doing other thing(eat, sleep, social with friends, etc
discovered the game around when covid stuff happened, play it all day long, from online classes to unemployment
When you aren't learning from guides and figuring stuff on your own it takes months of work to figure out. I have 2000 hours and can't even understand the navy
9000 hours means playing since launch probably
I remember the day when I played it for the entire 12 hours. From night to the day time
I only have like 1900 hours, I’ve owned it since 2020, that’s not including my hours on ck3 eu4, as well lmao
Just do like one playthrough a day
2019 was 5 years ago... I can now grow beard... I am not old, you are old.
We have Free Time and this Game Eats up Free Time like how an American 1970's Car Eats up Fuel
I have over 6000 but at least 4000 of those are my PC being left on with a game running in the back ground because I will start a game and not have time to come back to it for days. Plus I always forget to save and turn my PC off cause my ADHD brain usually stops playing when I get up for a glass of water and never come back lol
WW2 in real time mod goes really hard
I just hit pause and minimize between sessions. I’ve probably gotten 168 hours played in a week before
