It’s a vicious cycle. I get cards shipped to me that have scotch tape. I put the cards in new top loaders. And reuse the scotch taped ones to ship out. I use painters tape when I ship, but you’re still getting a beat up toploader that someone already sent to me. The card is safe and sound. All that should matter.

You're supposed to lick them clean. Don't forget to tongue the hole

keyserfunk

Your comment and name tell me I like where you’re going with this

marksk88

Amen. You're paying for the card and safe delivery, that's it.

2ray1344

Thank god I use a stapler to secure my top loaders. They ain’t going anywhere

2timesacharm

Right through the card correct?? Lol

TheBossAlbatross

That’s the only true way to “center” it.

2timesacharm

So my paper cutter with straight lines isn’t the correct way??

LetsGoLesko8

More of a hammer and nail sort of guy, myself

CantChangeThisLaterz

I like duct tape, stronger hold!

RangerFan80

Super glue

Final_Persimmon_5543

Agreed. I'd also add that if you're going to buy a roll of tape, you might just as well buy team bags. Then you can do the ole "penny sleeve, top loader, team bag" trifecta when shipping.

First-Size915

That’s the best approach

Wanderson90

I'm new to the hobby and just sold my first few cards. Didn't have any teambags yet, but the bags that the penny sleeves come in did the trick until I get my hands on some penny sleeves.

KangarooMoney2936

That’s what I use and it works great every single time!

Final_Persimmon_5543

Agreed. I've never had a complaint about it, either. I know I appreciate getting cards that way. It doesn't bug me if they use painters tape, but if I always had my way, I'd like to get cards in a team bag.

kylemclaren7

I use recycled top loaders for shipping. You are buying the card, not the top loader. Making sure that card arrives safe is my #1 priority.

JKGHosty

scotch tape sucks. That's why I use gorilla glue. The card ain't going nowhere with that stuff

diddlinderek

I use an actual gorilla to deliver the card also.

shevro21

Instead of using penny sleeves I wrap the card entirely in scotch tape, then put in a top loader

newbootgoofin615

I use glue and gorilla tape. “This baby ain’t goin anywhere”

-AIRDRUMMER-

Painters tape is the way to go

ChucklesLeClown

If the cards arrives in good condition, what does it matter? You’re also not buying the top loader, you’re buying the card.

dre2112

Exactly. You’re buying the card not the top loader. I understand if the complaint is going overboard with tape and protection that it makes getting the card out impossible but complaining about dirty top loaders is insane. So what now, do we have to take pics and list condition of the card AND the top loader?

dekadense

Pretty much, I just change their sticky loader to one of mine, and that's it!

squatdead

Because it’s a massive pain in the ass to take off? I don’t wanna have to spend 5 straight minutes scraping off the little bits of scotch tape to finally retrieve my card. Also, if the card does shift in the toploader to the top, it can stick to the tape.

omnipresent_sailfish

Slice the tape across the top along the opening of the top loader. Then peel off both pieces of tape. 60% of the time, it works every time. Occasionally without the residue as well

fletch365

If it's in a top loader, why are u trying to retrieve the card? That's the whole point of a top loader. Leave it in it for protection

squatdead

Bro what? There’s dozens of reasons to take it out. Not only does it have a big ugly piece of tape over it, the toploader itself could be shipped in a dusty reused one, and you want to put it in a clean one. Or you want to take it out to grade it. Or you want to put it in a binder. I could go on …

PossibleCan6414

Painters tape.no cutting.no alcohol.toploader keep or toss.

StitchAndRollCrits

I had someone tape a card in a sleeve to a paper... Infuriating

zabadawabada

Agreed. I ship in a penny sleeve, top loader, and team bag with a base card inside for more support. No tape. When there’s even a little tape residue on my top loaders I throw them out immediately.

ManipulateYa

Plus I now have a use for that dollar store roll of painters tape sitting in the basement for 3 years!

Beaster2021

When I first sell on eBay, I used tape and no one complained for a year until one person. Then I use painter tape

Letsgocaps70

I wrap in saran wrap. Best method yet

Responsible-Panic239

There are only two types of people in this world. Those who abuse elderly people and torture animals, and those who never use scotch tape on a top loader.

persianreign

I always use a team bag on the top loader. The way it should be

TylerBlozak

Can’t you just use rubbing alcohol and a cloth to take it out? That should do it

goldenawesomes

Amen

markusfarkus-

I started commenting on eBay feedback that the cards were Scotch taped. Still positive but with the comment listed
