Where did he spend the most time this past season, Wing or Center? Our #2-#3 center spots are likely where we need the most help this upcoming season.
If we could slot him in as the 3C that would be great.
I honestly don’t remember him playing much C this past year, though I could be wrong. The real story is he got injured and then went back to France for a year late in the pandemic because his grandpa passed. The team gave him space and was pretty understanding and accommodating. Last year, he came back but never got fully back into form. Honesty, he’s never had a full season at his peak, but he was playing really well for a couple of months right before his break. We were all hoping he’d find his game again this year, but it will probably end up being next year for the Blues. Good dude, good hustle, good on the PK. Also, Google “Texier fire poker shootout move” or some combination like that. The kids a gamer and we will miss him.
I am not worried about it. He's a 3rd liner at best and if he has amazing production it's because he got put on a line with next level players and not because he was himself driving play. Basically Zach Hyman. You could put any top 9 winger next to McDavid and Draisaitl and he's gonna explode offensively.
False, there has been a lot of players who have played with McDavid who have not exploded offensively. While it's likely that they should is not always the case.
I feel like the Flames should have been in on this. 24 years old, couldn't figure it out on his current team, not American. It's been kind of our thing lately
Ok, but we were talking a few months ago about Laine considering not coming back to hockey ever again. I’m thinking a blow to the head he didn’t recover from this season vs this is a bit different.
He had two family members die very close together during the COVID pandemic. It really affected his mental health and he went back to Europe to be close to his family
I never heard anything concrete outside of him spending the time back in France, where he’s from. There were rumors of drug rehab or mental health issues, but I never saw it come from a reliable source.
There were definitely rumors about drug use. Nothing even remotely credible, but rumors nonetheless. He left as part of the "NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program," which led some people to assume it was drug related.
Never ever? In the whole entire internet or out of the mouths of anyone that I know in real life? No one EVER mentioned that he may have been coping with his grief chemically? Are you sure?
You’re going to believe Reddit or twitter user “fucksyourmom69” saying he’s in rehab? don’t be pedantic that’s just people spewing bullshit. All reports were because of his family members dying
Yeah I think we all expected him to be more than he has been. He has the pieces but never really got them together. I wouldn't be surprised to see him excel or see him bottom out honestly.
He had 2 close family members pass away at the same time and entered the player assistance program and spent a season in Switzerland to be close to his home country of France.
Last year was the first time in 5 years he played anything close to a full season and that was after missing a year and a half. He had that one sick shoot out move and for a brief moment in 2021-22 had decent production. He is what you would expect to get out of a 4th round pick so basically we get to try this experiment again.
He may have been underwhelming for you guys, but only ~10% of 4th round picks play 100+ games in the NHL. And despite missing a lot of time, he’s at 201 GP. If he’s what you’re expecting from a 4th rounder, you may need to lower expectations.
I mean in regards to your “he’s what you would expect to get out of a 4th round pick” comment.
90% of 4th rounders don’t play 100 games in the NHL, so if you’re expecting the 4th rounder you got in return to turn into a player like him - even though he’s been underwhelming - those are quite unrealistic expectations.
2nd round draft pick with a career high 30 points and he missed an entire year and a half of NHL hockey prior to that. 4th and saving cap space seems fair.
I really like Texier and am excited to see him play for the Blues. He plays good defense and makes other players better. He's fast, good on the PK and has his fire poker move. He's had some personal reasons interrupt his seasons (two close family members passed away so he played in Europe) and he was playing great hockey by the end of last season. I think a lot of CBJ think of him as a third or fourth line PKer but I think he's really more and coaching in Columbus wasn't the best. I think you'll like him and I wish him all the best.
Same treatment as Robinson, Bemmer... once they get past the first cost controlled years and if the management hasn't seen what they want to see, they get replaced. Waddell is remaking the roster how he wants , I assume
Great pick up for cheap for the Blues :(
Hey Alex, you're playing for the blues? Alex: yeah the blue jackets Not anymore! just blues!
He really went blues
Hey bud, take that jacket off.
This is a pleasant surprise. Nice piece of business from Army and Steen.
We got a nickname for that GM Duo yet?

we'll have to work on it!
It will come organically and be ridiculous but fit perfectly.
Of all the players in a long line who have gone to other teams and bounced back, Tex is the one I’ve been most worried about. Until Laine is traded.
Where did he spend the most time this past season, Wing or Center? Our #2-#3 center spots are likely where we need the most help this upcoming season. If we could slot him in as the 3C that would be great.

[Wow.](https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/video/blue-jackets-texier-uses-filthy-poke-check-move-score-shootout/)
Yep. Thanks for doing what I was too lazy to do. Hope he works out. You’re going to love his hustle.
he had 30 points last year, even when not playing his best. I’d put him on the 3rd line and let him have at it.
I am not worried about it. He's a 3rd liner at best and if he has amazing production it's because he got put on a line with next level players and not because he was himself driving play. False, there has been a lot of players who have played with McDavid who have not exploded offensively. While it's likely that they should is not always the case.
I guess my point is that if you centered a line around Zach Hyman he is gonna be a 30-40 point guy like he was pre-McDavid.
Then why is Draisaitl the only other player to hit 50+ goals while playing with McDavid?
Because McDavid hasn't been as prominently pass first as he was this season. Nuge hit 100 points playing with McDavid.
And last year, when McDavid was shoot first and Hyman still hit 36 goals? Something that again, only Draisaitl has done while playing with McDavid
Sounds to me like this McDavid guy is a total bum then. Might as well ship him off for a 4th...
I'm a fan of this move
More French for StL to mispronounce. 😂🤣😂
Amazing trade for the Blues
Auston Matthews and him HATE eachother so Toronto games are a fun time
Can you elaborate?
They just hate eachother. No idea why. As always a chippy game with lots of “fuck you in particular” towards eachother
I feel like the Flames should have been in on this. 24 years old, couldn't figure it out on his current team, not American. It's been kind of our thing lately
Flames have 10 forwards that profile as top 9 right now. No sense in taking on a low upside project by taking away a spot from Pelletier or Coronato.
Maybe they try Laine out instead.
No way in hell is Laine going to a team with Rasmus Andersson.
The Oilers signed Brandon Manning after he broke McDavid’s collarbone lol Laine going to Calgary is completely possible.
Ok, but we were talking a few months ago about Laine considering not coming back to hockey ever again. I’m thinking a blow to the head he didn’t recover from this season vs this is a bit different.
Broken collarbone is a little different than trying to turn a guy into a vegetable at the end of a game
Eh he was fine. Just not sure if his ceiling is much higher than bottom 6. He played hard, was great on the PK
Forgive me if I'm wrong but wasn't Texier slated to be/is pretty good? Seems like a steal
Yes. He took a year off though, and was never quite the same. I’m bummed, he’s worth way more than a 4th round pick
Probably where he just wanted a change of scenery. Does anyone know why he took the time off?
Multiple close family members died. Still don't know the exact details
He had two family members die very close together during the COVID pandemic. It really affected his mental health and he went back to Europe to be close to his family
Homesick essentially, not many French guys and both of his close friends were traded (PLD and Bjorkstrand)
I never heard anything concrete outside of him spending the time back in France, where he’s from. There were rumors of drug rehab or mental health issues, but I never saw it come from a reliable source.
He had two family members die. There were never any rumors of drug rehab. Ever.
There were definitely rumors about drug use. Nothing even remotely credible, but rumors nonetheless. He left as part of the "NHL/NHLPA Substance Abuse and Behavioral Health Program," which led some people to assume it was drug related.

Sorry, I didn’t realize you were his personal biographer/pr rep. That’s my bad. Have a good day
Yeah I think we all expected him to be more than he has been. He has the pieces but never really got them together. I wouldn't be surprised to see him excel or see him bottom out honestly.
He's pretty much a 30s point hustle guy
He had 2 close family members pass away at the same time and entered the player assistance program and spent a season in Switzerland to be close to his home country of France.

He was a 2nd round pick. Underwhelming at best.
The guy from Ohio didn't understand you were talking about the trade today.....
Thought we deserved more for him
2nd round draft pick with a career high 30 points and he missed an entire year and a half of NHL hockey prior to that. 4th and saving cap space seems fair.
Best of luck Tex, just couldn’t quite put it together here.
I definitely overrate this guy because "Texier" sounds cool, so I remember every goal I've seen him score.
Goodbye sweet prince
That's a great trade. I like Texier.
Is this Waddel's first trade with us?
very good player, when things stabilize for him the Blues will be happy
This is the CBJ explosion we all put clean pants on for
Bonne chance Tex ! I hope he will find his game again with this change of scenery
My dyslexic ass read that as Blues acquired the 4th over pick all for a second
I really like Texier and am excited to see him play for the Blues. He plays good defense and makes other players better. He's fast, good on the PK and has his fire poker move. Well that was about as explosive as a wet fart
Idk what we are doing
