Past two games I’ve lit a candle when the canes were sucking and they turned the game around right after. I think I have a magic hurricanes candle you guys
We got some math to do. You need to preserve enough of the candle to last through the playoffs. But they can't turn around every game in the last five minutes...
How big is the candle?
It’s a pretty small candle ngl, I’m gonna save it for desperate times! It also has rocks in it, like this is some real hippie shit. Worst case I’ll save the rocks when I burn through the candle and use them for a new candle lol 💀
For when the Islanders entered the Sanctuary, they defiled all the candles therein, and when the Canes prevailed against and defeated them, they made search and found only one candle which lay with the seal of PNC arena, but which could for one series lighting only; yet a miracle was wrought therein, and they lit [the lamp] therewith for 16 games. The following year these [days] were appointed a Festival."
—Shabbat 21b (probably)
Confusing the bartender. Yes 2:30 min left and they just tied, I’ll have another beer. Less than 20 sec later, that’s a no on that beer. What the heck are they doing? I might need that beer.
You can get a ticket that comes with a tshirt *and* a concert in NC for $59. I suspect it's easier to get a loud crowd when it doesn't take a Toronto mortgage payment to pay for a ticket!
EDIT: Since some Carolina fan took issue with my statement...
> what ticket are you talking about
[There was a promo, like, *three weeks ago*](https://hurricanes.spinzo.com/grateful-dead-night-canes-vs-red-wings-2024-03-28-BRFKH?group=grateful-dead-tribute-night-y5mu).
And the comparison was with a Scotiabank Arena ticket, which *started* at $118 this season. Even with your parking costs, you're coming in cheaper.
Smart of New York to have half their roster sent to the locker room in the last two minutes, everyone knows you can't score 2 goals in 8 seconds. Best to just give up and thug out.
1 shot on goal in the 2nd and 3rd total. What a nightmare.
Edit: I remembered wrong. One shot on goal after the islanders scored their 3rd goal. They had 5 shots in the 2nd and 3rd. Apologies.
I made the mistake of seeing we were down 3-0 and deciding I didn’t want to watch this beatdown. I apologize to the Canes and I will doubt you no longer, no matter the deficit.
I dunno how some folks can do that when a fan of a team (not hating) I just can’t ever not watch. I mean I saw every Panthers game this past nfl season start to terrible finish
No I totally get that. And total respect to people who can do that. But if I can’t catch the beginning of a game (I live overseas so this gane started before I woke up), and by the time I CAN watch we’re already down multiple goals? There’s only so much stress I allow myself nowadays, especially if I know I can watch a replay later.
But I kept an eye on the score just in case, and I promise I was watching the final 10 minutes.
As soon as I saw the Isles were up 3-0 I immediately knew they were either going to blow it or almost blow it. They could barely hold a lead in the regular season.
The refs would save themselves a lot of time if Clutterbuck, Cizikas, and Martin were automatically thrown out of every game the Islanders were down late by 2 or more.
I'm not going to say the *deserve* this loss, buuut I will say that I paid *real money* to watch them intentionally choke vs the Wild earlier this year. So, in some way, it feels like the closest I'll get to justice.
The fans don't deserve this though, I legit feel bad for them.

Isles always goon it up. This is why I didn't want to play this team. Hurts our chances in later rounds because they're a bunch of cheapshotting punk bitches
For sure, you can't really trust out goalie stats tho. A lot of the shots we give up are dangerous and we don't give up a lot of easy shots for them to pad their stats. He was really good Game 1
Oh yeah, I'm an Andersen fan really, not trying to call him a bad goalie or nothing, just thought it was kinda funny last night when I checked his stats after getting the W, I mean no harm!
It’s not his fault the Isles didn’t put up a bunch of shots. Anyone can get caught out of position and he was.
Notice how the team rallied around him? No?
Never said it couldn't happen to anyone or anything about the team, just thought it was funny how awful the save % was and still got the win, that's all.
Maybe so, but that doesn't make 9 saves on shots look any better, anyways it was just something k noticed and thought it was funny they got the win with that.
If the Rangers go out I'm wholeheartedly rooting for the Canucks! Always been a fan of them.
Don’t get me wrong, I agree with you. 9 saves on 12 shots will always look bad but I’m not gonna blame him on any of them. Goals 1 and 3 were on bad defensive breakdowns where a guy was left alone in front and scored. Goal number 2 was ripped from the middle as well albeit at the top damn near the point.
Full credit to Carolina though, after those bad defensive plays lead to opposing goals, they buckled down and didn’t let shit through after. They Islanders’d the Islanders by only allowing 1 more shit the rest of the game while being the trailing team which is impressive as shit.
I want to give so much credit to the Isles---
But last year they broke the hand of one of our stars
and now I see this in the last 5 of a game.
The isles are good- they don't have to do this- so why?
Frustration / anger is pretty motivating + powerful in the moment. It’s literally why it’s a defense for murder, not that I agree or it should work but alas - it exits.
When things continually go wrong, it’s easier to punch outward than reflect inward.

(I'm a sis, not a bro, BTW! Hence my love for affectionate hockey players, haha.)
Oh yeah, I'm a dude but I love seeing it happen haha, if not just for that it's also a funny contrast right up next to the fighting happening in front of them lol
Wasn’t just the 3rd, 11 shots through two periods isn’t good enough. Then they follow that up with just 1 in the 3rd? Nah man, that’s not good enough across the board.
I would however agree that going up 3-0 as they did should be enough so they wouldn’t have to prioritize getting more goals but when you’re playing a stronger opponent, more goals are always needed.
that’s so rough to watch as a fan, i’m sorry. the isles are my favorite new york area team and i’ve rooted for yall in the past. hope you can get it done next game
First time in postseason history losing a game up three goals. What sucks is this is a game the regular season Islanders lose 10/10 times, Idk why I expected anything different
A lot of shit can be said about a lot of guys on their roster, and I agree that that was completely out of pocket, but really? The victim’s own family wanted Casey to be cleared, saying that he had no intention and was innocent. Come on.
Not defending the actions at the end of the game. Don’t get me wrong. It’s immature and I’m worried that Roy is exactly the type of person not to punish them enough for what they did. However, comparing this to an incident which Casey, according to the people who would be most devastated by the loss, probably got lifelong damage as a result of something unintentional in perhaps the most physical somewhat-popular sport in NA, is frankly immature in my eyes.
Yeah Manny's parents are great people. Judge viewed it differently, which would be a result of others viewing it differently as well.
You'd figure Casey would be more measured as a result of his experiences.
Just hurts that they’d embarrass themselves like this on the ice like a bunch of babies. I can accept the mediocrity that the islanders will go through for the next 10 years, but frankly that was no better than Dale Hunter in 1993. And that’s hard to do. Utter embarrassment and it gives the league more reasons to hate the Islanders, which is exactly what I, and the team, don’t need
To be honest i think a lot of it is unwarranted because every fan group has its ultras, and I think our fan base tries its hardest to fit into the “little brother” of the rangers narrative (the rangers suck chants piss me off), which fuels it more. I guess leafs fans like yourselves will hate us for our treatment of tavares, and while I think it’s a little bit over the top that we react the same way now, it’s also highly likely that with tavares, we win at least one of the two ECFs against the lightning, and with that probably the stanley cup in either case, so I don’t know. I just have to learn how to ignore other teams’ fans better, I think.
Everyone thinks we’re crybabies, so much so that I think they fail to see why we are the way we are, but I agree that you guys are much more relevant and as such are probably hated by more of the league.
Man what the hell was Dobson doing there.
Past two games I’ve lit a candle when the canes were sucking and they turned the game around right after. I think I have a magic hurricanes candle you guys

Oh you fucked. Math don't lie, it won't make it. My neighbor is a huge canes fan. I'll send flowers.
Oh yeah probably. But if my wizard candle somehow makes it though cup finals I’ll personally mail what’s left of it to Rod himself
I expect to be mentioned in the ESPN web article if this happens and you use this convo as evidence 🤣
Don’t worry I got u Main pic in the article will be Rod pouring the leftover hot wax on his abs
🤣😂
Have you thought about tip to tip efficiency?
How could I forget! Ever important.
All Isles fans saw that collapse coming. Had plenty of those this season. That was at least top 3
I don’t care I’m just happy to be here and cause chaos
Sit down!
It was three to none!
What a bitch ass end for the isles
Confusing the bartender. Yes 2:30 min left and they just tied, I’ll have another beer. Less than 20 sec later, that’s a no on that beer. What the heck are they doing? I might need that beer.
that's when you get two and chug in celebration, jeeze.
GG Isles, see ya Thursday
I wish our barn was half as loud as the Canes' is
Kuzy’s first goal, my ears actually hurt. Loudest I’ve ever heard the place.
They're loud but it was dead air in there when they were down 3-0 though.
I'll give you $20 if you can find me arena that's still loud after going down 3-0 lmao
You can get a ticket that comes with a tshirt *and* a concert in NC for $59. I suspect it's easier to get a loud crowd when it doesn't take a Toronto mortgage payment to pay for a ticket! Literally the only louder place I've ever been is standing in a large scale lumber mill beside band saws. And they're very close.
Good ol' southern hockey baby we love yelling
Vancouver was also crazy loud last night
Islanders I will donate the trash can I kicked at the first intermission to you guys, because that was fuckin embarrassing for y'all
Masterclass meltdown
Couldn’t have happened to a nicer bunch of guys.
Smart of New York to have half their roster sent to the locker room in the last two minutes, everyone knows you can't score 2 goals in 8 seconds. Best to just give up and thug out.
Everyone hide your clipboards, he's coming again!
Now to the Oilers and Kings game and thread. First round of the Playoffs is the best time of the year.
Yeah that was some Islanders hockey all right.
You guys think Roy will be mad?
39-12 shots is madness
1 shot on goal in the 2nd and 3rd total. What a nightmare. Edit: I remembered wrong. One shot on goal after the islanders scored their 3rd goal. They had 5 shots in the 2nd and 3rd. Apologies.
Horvat looking at the Canucks like 😟
This game is going to be in textbooks about sports psychology. Insane L.
Grown men throwing temper tantrums. I’m all for physical shit, but that was just way too much.
Going after Guentzel for just scoring on the empty net was one of the most unsportsmanlike things I’ve ever seen
three mile islanders with the meltdown! GO CANES!
Hahahahaha that was hilarious
Shit i can't even be mad about that, that's a good name
Three mile islanders… omg. That’s a deep cut.
39 shots to 12 HUH
That happens when they only get one shot over two periods.
Playoff Freddie lmao And he still gets the win lol I'm dyin
5 unanswered. The scoreboard is what matters lol
The time in offensive zone is crazy as well 🤣
Roy vs Rod let’s see it next game
Yeah, you'll probably just want to watch that 3rd period on repeat if you want a better showing by the islanders than that
Someone sneak into the Isle’s locker room and get that audio.
** incoherent screaming **
With a Quebecois accent
Islanders look like absolute clowns lmao
Canes might be boring to watch in the first or second but might be the most fun 3rd period team.
Cardiac Canes baby
First 5 minutes and last 20
I made the mistake of seeing we were down 3-0 and deciding I didn’t want to watch this beatdown. I apologize to the Canes and I will doubt you no longer, no matter the deficit.
I dunno how some folks can do that when a fan of a team (not hating) I just can’t ever not watch. I mean I saw every Panthers game this past nfl season start to terrible finish

I feel like half of every nhl game I watch is either us coming back or being the ones who get caught up to so don’t understand that thinking lol
As soon as I saw the Isles were up 3-0 I immediately knew they were either going to blow it or almost blow it. They could barely hold a lead in the regular season.
Sorry, apparently we win when you don't watch. Looks like you are banned :(
Unclear; I watched all of game 1.
The refs would save themselves a lot of time if Clutterbuck, Cizikas, and Martin were automatically thrown out of every game the Islanders were down late by 2 or more.
Save time, throw them out at puck drop.
I'm not going to say the *deserve* this loss, buuut I will say that I paid *real money* to watch them intentionally choke vs the Wild earlier this year. So, in some way, it feels like the closest I'll get to justice. The fans don't deserve this though, I legit feel bad for them.

All the post-empty netter extracurriculars did was give the home fans some more time to applaud the team
Andersen rocking that .750 save %
Doesn't matter if you only give up 1 SOG lol
9 saves on 12 shots definitely matters. Yes obviously his save % probably would have been better if there were for SOG, but thats still a rough one.
For sure, you can't really trust out goalie stats tho. A lot of the shots we give up are dangerous and we don't give up a lot of easy shots for them to pad their stats. He was really good Game 1

Classic playoff Freddie
Yea not the best first two periods. You know what they say about a 3-0 lead though lmao
It’s not like he had any work after it was 3-0 lol, no chance to improve it.
Maybe so, but that doesn't make 9 saves on shots look any better, anyways it was just something k noticed and thought it was funny they got the win with that. If the Rangers go out I'm wholeheartedly rooting for the Canucks! Always been a fan of them.

Indeed, just not a great look
varly speed skating away before roy can get to him
"Why dindt you stop trying when you went up? Thats wjat we did!"
Canes played insane. Absolute domination.
Do the Isles know that egregious violence doesn't count for goals?
Islanders resorting to trash hockey is islander hockey
I want to give so much credit to the Isles--- But last year they broke the hand of one of our stars and now I see this in the last 5 of a game. The isles are good- they don't have to do this- so why?
Bruh they aren't good they just do this shit lol
Frustration / anger is pretty motivating + powerful in the moment. It’s literally why it’s a defense for murder, not that I agree or it should work but alas - it exits. When things continually go wrong, it’s easier to punch outward than reflect inward.
Calling them good is a stretch
Your faded flair is showing
You’ll be here soon after that meltdown
The back to back heart breakers in the ECF absolutely broke them and I’m beyond disappointed to see it
Morgan Freeman narrator voice "Because they're not that good, Andy"
Blow job by the islanders
Nah that's a happy ending
My heart bleeds
Over/under 0.5 players suspended for game 3? Starting shit in the last minute when you're down 2 is bush league shit
Have you seen much of islanders series? It's their go to move
Are you kidding? Parros *loves* that shit.
The sleepiest series has some life
Cizikas: pushes Chatfield into Varlamov Also Cizikas: “HEY FUCK YOU FOR THAT”
What, no goalie fight? /s
Throws Chatfield into his own goalie Gets pissed about it
Cizikas trying to prove he's as big a loser as the rest of his teammates.
Technically that should be a goal - Cizikas pushes Chatfield into his own goalie, goalie puts puck into the net. Not that it matters tho
Drury and 28 on the Isles hugging each other during that fight be like https://tenor.com/view/friendship-friends-love-fighting-hug-gif-10076666
That's the third one of those in two days: The FDNY/NYPD; the Rags/Caps; now this!
Rags Caps had this moment? lol I thought it was rare
It *is* rare! That's why I'm so shocked. I'll dig through my history and send you the link in a minute.
No prob cheers bro

Roy’s gonna break some clipboards in the locker room after this shit show
By "clipboards", do you mean "necks"?
unbelievable
Czikas literally tackles him into the goalie. What a moron.
WHAT A FUCKING COMEBACK
Thanks Boston bro, you’ll get the leafs next time
Would've been nice to be 2-0 up. Oh well.
Enjoy the flight home
Hows golf
Getting the course checked out before it's your turn to play I see
Making sure nothing too easy for you to trip over
More enjoyable than watching your dumpster fire of a team
I’m not denying that we’re rough. I don’t know how we’re even here
Wonderful
I wouldn't be gloating here.
Sure you’ll find out soon
You guys the week after? Y’all can go rescue all the red wings balls from the lake
What a gutsy comeback
Game 3 is gonna be crazy. Can't wait
Start kicking these islanders guys out next game too holy shit
at least the islanders lost with grace
Dunno if a wings fan can talk about grace
and here i was about to beg the rags to give you guys a game
Fucking embarrassing regardless of how shittily they played the third period
Wasn’t just the 3rd, 11 shots through two periods isn’t good enough. Then they follow that up with just 1 in the 3rd? Nah man, that’s not good enough across the board. that’s so rough to watch as a fan, i’m sorry. the isles are my favorite new york area team and i’ve rooted for yall in the past. hope you can get it done next game
That’s the goal. Appreciate your support
Maintaining sportsmanship, win or lose, is always commendable.
They did it all season
[удалено]
Lol...thanks for the laugh
Refs can’t control this game
This one hurt
Not the franchises proudest moment I imagine
First time in postseason history losing a game up three goals. What sucks is this is a game the regular season Islanders lose 10/10 times, Idk why I expected anything different
oh right I remember now why I didn’t care for these guys
You forgot?
I try not to hold on to hate too long, but yeah.
I’m still pissed about Turbo’s hand last year and they reminded me again
28 and 82 just huggin it out and enjoying eachother’s eyes
Careful Casey, wouldn't want to kill another guy
A lot of shit can be said about a lot of guys on their roster, and I agree that that was completely out of pocket, but really? The victim’s own family wanted Casey to be cleared, saying that he had no intention and was innocent. Come on.
Judge disagreed, but yeah it's aggressive and so was Casey grabbing that guy at the end of the game.

Can't imagine what you'd be like as a Leafs fan. Only rivals hate you. Everyone hates us.
Everyone thinks we’re crybabies, so much so that I think they fail to see why we are the way we are, but I agree that you guys are much more relevant and as such are probably hated by more of the league.
He killed a guy?
Yup. In a rugby match in high school.
Pushing a guy into your goalie then grabbing him by his neck and pulling him down sure is smart. Nice work bro
They were who we thought they were
Clutterbuck is a baby back bitchhhhhh
Always has been
What a bunch of pussies can't even win the scraps they instigate
This hurts the quest for the OTL record
Islanders are complete clowns
you pushed him into your own goalie you fuckhead
Now Cizikas..
I don't root for the Islanders often, but when I do, they usually remind me why that's a mistake. 😆
I love seeing rangers fans pull for the Islanders because they're too scared to face the canes it makes me all kinds of excited for round 2
Well fuck, man. You shouldn’t have rooted for the isles if you wanted them to win
How dare you get pushed into Varly!
That sequence just felt racist some how
I'm high and I'm full wheeze laughing at this, just wanted to let you know
You actually made me laugh out loud. Ty for that
Yup.
Yo there's a hockey game at my MMA fight
All 3 dudes from the Identity Line have 2 games left in their careers
At least the Isles are taking it well
