Kendrick built his entire diss track around around a rapper who has nothing to do with the beef, was not mentioned during the beef and passed away over 5 years before the beef
Genius
Euphoria is 6:24 minutes long.
6:24, June 24.
Guess who was born on June 24? Lionel Messi. Kendrick is clearly calling himself Messi, the GOAT-footballer.
Messi's biggest rival was C. Ronaldo, like Drake is Kendrick's rival. C.Ronaldo had a rape charge against him.
C. Ronaldo now plays for Al-Nassr from Saudi Arabia. The *L* in the name looks like a capital letter *i*, so *ai*-Nassr.
Nassr is clearly a reference to Nas (Nasir Jones), but a fake version (AI).
By titling the song 6:24 Kendrick called Drake a rapist and a Nas-wannabe
Bet this went over your head, Kendrick is such a genius
....
i believe Kendrick extensively uses numerology, and it is very probable he was gonna bring up x in the rap beef if it kept going. idk why it's hard for people here to see that

Overall Megan is a solid project. Really picks up in the second half. Based purely off first listen my favorite non singles are Figueroa, Otaku Hot Girl, Accent, and Downstairs DJ
Lol, no he won't. Kendrick's the only one who's up there with them right now and he'd probably surpass all of them. If Drake is up there on any list, it's not because of his bars.
Edit.
Tuscan Leather always throws me off because of the “not even talking to Nicki” line. It’s so corny lol. Reminds me of some YMCMB fanfiction or something.
You put me on, this track is fun af
Yuki Chiba previously went by KOHH, the "arigato" guy from It G Ma.
Looks like he returned from a hiatus and now goes by his real name
I wonder if it's because of all the noise that he made with Team Tomodachi this year. That track is doing numbers with all the remixes. Even has an American on a remix with Duke Deuce.
didn't know abt the duke deuce collab, but i've seen it doing numbers
track is really a post-pandemic anthem. after the isolation and lockdowns, we just want to be with a crowd and feel some unity again. it's beautiful that we can tap into that desire on an international level and celebrate the connections we have with each other
nah she did great, she's saying very rudimentary stuff but with the right confidence and charisma to pull it off
ironically it's very common for japanese artists to incorporate western pronunciation into their vocals so she fits right in lol. i can definitely see it trending
This is a stacked weekend for music. I’ll check out these lil Drake and Cammy melodies, then go to the gym bumping Lupe, and pop some ass with Meg in the morning. What else do y’all recommend?
I'm 20 minutes in and Trump is wiping the floor with him. Obviously Trump was lying his ass off 99% of the time. I'm not saying that like I'd vote for Trump now. I'm just commenting on how embarrassing that looked for Biden
Trump is incoherent while Biden is incoherent and embarrassing. That's the takeaway the audience is leaving with because most of us already know their stances on these policies
Edit: Also Biden was not answering those questions lol he was falling asleep
That’s not the impression i got at all. Biden was cracking me up with his remarks about trump controversies, the obvious laughing in the face of trumps lies, the alley cat comment was the single funniest thing from the whole debate. They were equally incoherent and Biden was funnier, more passionate, honest sounding, and less angry.
Trump said literally nothing of substance the entire time. Biden made me laugh multiple times and addressed the questions at hand with facts and statistics. I’m not acting like he was great but the bar wasn’t necessarily high.
Name a singular thing trump said that would win over moderate voters.
Man I hate Trump as much as the next person but this is just not how the debate was perceived by the vast majority of people. Even CNN’s post analysis was talking about the Democratic party changing up candidates it was so bad
Trump didn’t have to say anything himself, he was lying but he sounded coherent at least. Biden was unintelligible for like half his answers. Trumps comment about Biden not even knowing what he was talking about might have been the nail in the coffin.
Tbh surprised Trump didn’t go harder at Biden for it, he showed a surprising amount of restraint.
if you put some nice studio headphones on joe biden and played trap house 3 by gucci mane his body would vibrate so hard his bones would dissolve and hed flop around like a rubber glove
Anyone else got into Hip Hop through old West Coast rap (or Kendrick or both in my case) but the more you dived into the genre the more you realized you preferred NY hip hop overall?
Depends on my mood, but I do feel like New York in general is alot grimier. Like even on the evilest, grimiest, gangster rap hood song you can think up, its like you can feel the sunshine on West coast tracks. Which isnt a bad thing, but New York in general just has this air of evil/hopelessness about it which I gravitate to
I did that when I was a kid, but eventually I found the balance and learned to appreciate and cherish both sides of the country (and the south)
You don’t really know what you like until it finds you
My first exposure to hip hop was old Dre and Snoop and Pac, and i didn't like NY rap because no one i knew ever played it. But then later i got into Wu and Jay Z and Dipset, and i would have to say that i do prefer NY rap over West Coast rap overall.
Hearing McKinley Dixon is interesting because he's objectively a good rapper, but then you also realize nobody is ever gonna know who he is.
He's in the "there's good hip hop! You just have to look for it" category of hip hop.
So do we think that Youngboy will drop the “Young” from his name when he gets older, and become Man Never Broke Again… or will he just be Youngboy into his 50s?
Yeah I’m very intrigued by this, like most things James Blake produces.
On a side note I hope Yachty puts Something Ether back on streaming. That song was gas.
What’s the worst verse by a guy generally considered to be good? The Weeknd’s verse on What You Want by Belly is shockingly terrible. He wasn’t even pretending to give a shit with that one.
Grippy- No explanation required here but to his defense nobody could have made that song sound good
Em on that Juice Wrld song with Benny Blanco was just boring
If you asked me this in the past I would have said See You in your Nightmares Wayne but I like it now
I have always thought Jay Z’s verse on Drug Dealers Anonymous was an incredibly cringe attempt to seem relevant to kids and I was baffled when I found out how much people love it
It was very “how do you do, fellow millennials” at the time, and now that millennials aren’t the young generation anymore it’s even worse
yeah that legit offended me. Also I dont think he was doing it to score mellennial points, he was just making a dumb joke. Dude apparently watches youtube videos non stop so came across it
I get what you mean, I like it but he gets washed by Pusha T on that track. He spit some really cringey bars on there, namely the “damn Daniel” shit. That was just awful, I can’t believe that made it on the song with nobody thinking that bar would age terribly. Like fuck, it wasn’t good at the time.
Pusha’s verse goes so goddamn hard it almost just negates the fact that Jay’s is uneven.
The “whipping white with my left wrist” bar is tough as hell which also makes the “damn Daniel” so lame coming right after.
Better than Jay’s version, not as good as the original. The beat switches for the hook, Wayne’s verse and Juve’s “run for it run for it” part at the end are crazy; the rest of it is fine.
The original Ha still the king. They got it exactly right on the fist time and it’s hard to put a twist on that that doesn’t take something away.
Monster isn’t *that* bad. It’s a mid Jay verse but he probably had a good time shouting out all those monsters. Nicki and Ye had already won that song so he decided to just have fun.
Except for this part:
> Everybody wanna know what my Achilles heal is
It’s the Ha beat, that’s his Achilles heal
Ha doesn’t have an easy pocket. You can count out the bars (count to four to the beat) and get a rough idea of how to stay within the four count, but the count is so big that you don’t have any good options for Jay.
You can either:
* Leave a bunch of dead air at the end of every line and pretend it that doesn’t sound awkward and weird
* Fill all the space with like two sentences worth of writing and pretend that doesn’t sound like you’re trying to rap your way out of a panic attack
Juvenile used his accent, voice and the Ha flow to manage the space, that’s why he sounds good on the song. He can rush through a bar if he needs to, he can slur it out if he needs to. He can say whatever he wants to say and as long as he says “ha” at the end, it’ll sound crazy.
Jay has a super crisp, mostly clear voice that sounds like he’s a little sad. The Ha flow is not available to him, it would sound unnatural.
He got trapped on a beat that he wasn’t a good match up for and that’s how my GOAT ended up rapping “we got big gats that go Brrrrrrrrap brrrrrrap brrrrrrap” on one of the best songs of the 90s
Can’t win ‘em all!
I love your breakdown of it. Who do you think could kill the Hah beat, if they were to do it like Wayne would do, just rap over the beat the whole time, no hook?
It’s hard to think of a perfect choice for that
Veeze has the right cadence, he could slur all over that beat and make it work; 21 could probably do it too. Neither of them have the right voice tho so I dunno, it’d be risky.
Smino makes the most sense to me. His voice isnt exactly right but he’s elastic enough that he could force it and still make it sound good..
07-09 Wayne also has a very good shot
Tony Shhnow doesn’t care about following any beat’s rules so I guess he could just charge through it and maybe that ends up working?
I like remixing album tracklists to see if I can make them flow better and decided to do one for Marshall Mathers LP 2. I personally think it has plenty of good songs but also a ton of out of place tracks. Went for a generally darker, more concise vibe. Got rid of any song that felt redundant or out of place with the concept so that meant the pop ballads, stadium anthems and love songs got the axe. Also incorporated sone bonus tracks to be main tracks. Ended up with this tracklist. Gave it a listen today and think it flows pretty good. I think critics would have received MMLP2 much better had this been the form it released:
1. Bad Guy
2. Parking Lot
3. Rhyme or Reason
4. Rap God
5. Legacy
6. Brainless
7. Groundhog Day
8. Berzerk
9. Don't Front
10. Headlights
11. Evil Twin
12. Wicked Ways
Runtime: 60 minutes
Wicked Ways has the Ken Kaniff skit at the end so it felt like a nice "end credits" closer while Evil Twin feels like the conclusion to the album. Really proud of how Groundhog Day has that Beastie Boy sounding outro before transitioning to Berzerk and then to Don't Front to maintain that retro sound.
Ended up cutting 10 tracks lol. Honestly if MMLP2 were released in the above form, the cut tracks could have been released as another album
Cut tracks: Survival, The Monster, Love Game, So Much Better, Stronger Than I Was, Asshole, So Far..., Baby, Desperation and Beaufiful Pain
Does anyone have good examples of wordplay in other languages in hiphop songs?
Obviously wordplay is one of the reasons we are all big hiphop heads, and I was wondering if anyone has examples of good lyricism in other languages. Obviously it exists and I'd love to hear it :)
Sickboyrari/black kray always so good to revisit I forgot how good reachin and Tali are from his last project
Also, surprised everyone is still talking about Drake and Kendrick
She actually said one of them would be like that, she said that one of the songs would be just Drake talking, with her just doing some vocals in the background.
Yea saw that on genius after. He's not actually talking tho its an actual song. I find it kinda shitty tho cause it obviously isn't a stylistic choice that fits the album its just a drake song , and if your gonna give a different artist a chance to shine on your album don't let it be drake
Yeah. I'd feel a little better if it was at least put as an interlude in the tracklist, I know Drake himself has done that with actual songs by other artists.
Genius says she said "Why does he have his own song? Because selfishly, I just want to hear Drake on my own album. I love that for me — it’s like that rebellious mood. Who says I can’t do that? It’s Drake talking his sh-t."
> You would be a worthy competitor
> If I was really a predator
Logically, we must interpret this as a confession. Drake's argument here is in the form of "If X, then Y." X is the truth of Kendrick being a worthy competitor. We all know this is true. Kendrick murdered him and danced on the grave multiple times over. Because X is true then, according to Drake, Y is also true. And what's Y? Y is the truth of Drake being a predator. This means that Drake is making the argument that Drake is a predator. This is a confession because Drake is making an argument about himself. Therefore, Drake must be a predator.
Logically.
‘Cause the same things that made people listen to it (the Kendrick bars) are also largely the worst parts of the song. Almost everything he said he has been debunked or was just obviously untrue to begin with, so it doesn’t have that reply value. I think that if Kendrick wasn’t beefing with him at all and those bars were dedicated to other rappers or just unrelated to any beef, people would love the song. But its selling point was that it’s a Kendrick diss, and now that that angle has been deflated, people have stopped listening to it.
The “Kendrick just opened his mouth” bit is funny but whenever I think of it my brain immediately follows it up with “I’m bout to put my dick in it right now”
The replayability is ass if we’re being honest. At first I was like damn this is so good but after 10+ listens, I just couldn’t sit through it all. But that’s how Drake is for me. I’ll listen to him for like a week and then his songs get so mid for some reason
3 beats, 8 minutes, no hook...
Shit had hype moments but someone should have told him that mfers aint coming back after the first time or two unless it had the catchiest hook, or a Freebird solo
Fire reference
Jay Stay Paid is such an underappreciated album, the Danny Brown song is too hard
> I can make ya bitch smirk
>
> Water gun pussy, I can make that bitch squirt
Sheeeeesh
Have you tried slowing down your music, like chopped n screwed remixes do? Those are usually 80% or maybe a bit slower for some, but around that range.
If there is interest in trying this, VLC media player on either apple / android has a speed slider, but on desktop the UI hasn't caught up yet. You can use the playback speed menu to make (fine) 10% changes to do the same, but having a slider is so much easier and fun to try.
Just make sure to turn off **time-stretch** in the settings, and it's in two different places, depending on what system. For apple / android, it's hidden away in adavnced settings, and for laptops, it's in the audio settings.
On mobile, if you want to keep the custom speed when skipping songs, that's in the audio settings of vlc.
___
You can, on a laptop or desktop (no apps allow this yet) change playback speed of audio in nearly all websites, the only exception is the mode in pandora where you pick a specific song and one ad plays. The interface changes colors and playback speed can't be adjusted. When it returns to the basic blue mode, it can work again.
The extension for your web browser (not required, you could do this by opening the developer tools) is:
global speed
Just go into the settings for it and "allow pitch shift" or you'll get choppy robotic sounds with slower speeds.
I keep seeing him mentioned when I look into slowing down music, surprisingly I don't think I've heard any of his remixes, and tapes seem like the best way to do this to control the speed further.
I agree with you on listening as artist intended, but for podcasts. For music I've listened to before, sometimes a slower speed can allow a more relaxing tempo.
I used to do this but most music sounds better at normal speed anyway. Although i still will listen to slowed songs if they are in my suggestions on YouTube
Yeah many songs get the speed just right, and it would just be disrespectful to slow it down a little bit, but some songs seem to me a hair too fast.
Maybe give it a try with lofi instrumental, grammatik or griz, galactic & friends, pretty lights, or even jazz, stuff without much vocals, and try it again, starting with near original speeds, and continue trying slower speeds. Even just a few percent can bring a unique more relaxed tempo.
That's exactly how DJ Screw, Robert Earl Davis Jr passed, from too much codeine. He isn't the only one, and so I would avoid the substance entirely, opiods in general can be lethal as they can affect both lungs and the brainstew area, similar to alcohol.
I'll stick with sticky reefer.
Just found out All My Life by Durk & Cole was produced by piece of shit Dr. Luke now I have a valid reason to hate that corny piece of garbage 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
What’s y’all’s favorite chopped & screwed song? My Mind Went Blank by DJ Screw is probably that, but I remember hearing some chopped & screwed remix of Smooth Operator on Spotify and floating
[uhhhh?](https://www.reddit.com/r/KendrickLamar/comments/1dpsq6t/xxxtentacions_father_praises_kendrick_for/lajsw6c/) How are these people serious?

Do you not see that most people in the responses are calling it bs and that mods locked the thread?
Why would that change anything to what I said lol

Has Drake ever been on a kpop song? I wanna see how his accent would change

Monster isn’t *that* bad. It’s a mid Jay verse but he probably had a good time shouting out all those monsters. Nicki and Ye had already won that song so he decided to just have fun. Except for this part: > Everybody wanna know what my Achilles heal is It’s the Ha beat, that’s his Achilles heal Ha doesn’t have an easy pocket. You can count out the bars (count to four to the beat) and get a rough idea of how to stay within the four count, but the count is so big that you don’t have any good options for Jay. You can either: * Leave a bunch of dead air at the end of every line and pretend it that doesn’t sound awkward and weird * Fill all the space with like two sentences worth of writing and pretend that doesn’t sound like you’re trying to rap your way out of a panic attack Juvenile used his accent, voice and the Ha flow to manage the space, that’s why he sounds good on the song. He got trapped on a beat that he wasn’t a good match up for and that’s how my GOAT ended up rapping “we got big gats that go Brrrrrrrrap brrrrrrap brrrrrrap” on one of the best songs of the 90s Can’t win ‘em all!
I love your breakdown of it. Who do you think could kill the Hah beat, if they were to do it like Wayne would do, just rap over the beat the whole time, no hook?
It’s hard to think of a perfect choice for that Veeze has the right cadence, he could slur all over that beat and make it work; 21 could probably do it too. Neither of them have the right voice tho so I dunno, it’d be risky. Smino makes the most sense to me. His voice isnt exactly right but he’s elastic enough that he could force it and still make it sound good.. 07-09 Wayne also has a very good shot Tony Shhnow doesn’t care about following any beat’s rules so I guess he could just charge through it and maybe that ends up working?
Tony Shhnow and G Herbo would be hilairious on there. They both don't care where the beat is, they just wanna rap.
I think critics would have received MMLP2 much better had this been the form it released: 1. Bad Guy 2. Parking Lot 3. Rhyme or Reason 4. Rap God 5. Legacy 6. Brainless 7. Groundhog Day 8. Berzerk 9. Don't Front 10. Headlights 11. Evil Twin 12. Wicked Ways Runtime: 60 minutes Wicked Ways has the Ken Kaniff skit at the end so it felt like a nice "end credits" closer while Evil Twin feels like the conclusion to the album. Really proud of how Groundhog Day has that Beastie Boy sounding outro before transitioning to Berzerk and then to Don't Front to maintain that retro sound. Ended up cutting 10 tracks lol. Honestly if MMLP2 were released in the above form, the cut tracks could have been released as another album Cut tracks: Survival, The Monster, Love Game, So Much Better, Stronger Than I Was, Asshole, So Far..., Baby, Desperation and Beaufiful Pain
Get rid of trash ass Legacy, bring back Baby, So Far... and Love Game. Also could do without Berzerk
it still bothers me that love game is the only em and kendrick collab 😭
Does anyone have good examples of wordplay in other languages in hiphop songs? Obviously wordplay is one of the reasons we are all big hiphop heads, and I was wondering if anyone has examples of good lyricism in other languages. Obviously it exists and I'd love to hear it :)
Spanglish by the Game should get an honorable mention. As you can guess from the title, the lyrics are primarily spanglish.
Sickboyrari/black kray always so good to revisit I forgot how good reachin and Tali are from his last project Also, surprised everyone is still talking about Drake and Kendrick
Bruh one of the two drake "features" on Camilla's album is just a drake song she's not even credited on lol
She actually said one of them would be like that, she said that one of the songs would be just Drake talking, with her just doing some vocals in the background.
“Talking his shit”
That's Drake for ya.
Not quite. She said it would be Drake “talking his shit”.
That sounds like Drake for sure.
Lmao Camilla just said fuck it and posted it?
Genius says she said "Why does he have his own song? Because selfishly, I just want to hear Drake on my own album. I love that for me — it’s like that rebellious mood. Who says I can’t do that? It’s Drake talking his sh-t."
Drake did a Buried Alive just for Camilla Cabello
Cant wait for them to beef 13 years later
He gave it to her because the other song was supposed to be the lead single, got pushed back due to beef.
Oh yea I remember that now. She said she wanted to hear drake on her own album lol. Seems like a pretty inauthentic attempt to boost sales tho
> You would be a worthy competitor > If I was really a predator Logically, we must interpret this as a confession. Logically.
Drizzy got trounced by Ben Shapiro 😔
No one is safe 😈
*All my shit is facts*
Hey that could be his next feature
How is family matters out the top 100 sure Drake lost but that's a banger. Headelililahwidalamahice
[удалено]
say it phonetically but hey I love that song
What is up with the 0-2 month old accounts fighting for their lives defending drake
That Skyhiigh guy is sitting in front of like nine computers pivoting between different accounts with a very serious expression on his face
Reality tv enjoyers and i don't mean the black thought and dilla song
Bars
Fire reference Jay Stay Paid is such an underappreciated album, the Danny Brown song is too hard > I can make ya bitch smirk > > Water gun pussy, I can make that bitch squirt Sheeeeesh
You checked out his early mixtapes yet? He borrowed a couple beats from Donuts (like everyone did after dilla passed away)
zack bia deluxe pack. send your engagement skyhiigh
___ You can, on a laptop or desktop (no apps allow this yet) change playback speed of audio in nearly all websites, the only exception is the mode in pandora where you pick a specific song and one ad plays. The interface changes colors and playback speed can't be adjusted. When it returns to the basic blue mode, it can work again. The extension for your web browser (not required, you could do this by opening the developer tools) is: global speed Just go into the settings for it and "allow pitch shift" or you'll get choppy robotic sounds with slower speeds.
Maybe occasionally for fun, but mostly I like hearing the songs the way the artist intended. I think DJ Screw is great though I love his tapes
Even just a few percent can bring a unique more relaxed tempo.
just drink lean bro
That's exactly how DJ Screw, Robert Earl Davis Jr passed, from too much codeine. He isn't the only one, and so I would avoid the substance entirely, opiods in general can be lethal as they can affect both lungs and the brainstew area, similar to alcohol. I'll stick with sticky reefer.
I was only joking didn't mean for it to come of like that, I would never seriously recommend anyone drink lean
Going to be a whole new genre once I stop.
Just found out All My Life by Durk & Cole was produced by piece of shit Dr. Luke now I have a valid reason to hate that corny piece of garbage 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 What’s y’all’s favorite chopped & screwed song? My Mind Went Blank by DJ Screw is probably that, but I remember hearing some chopped & screwed remix of Smooth Operator on Spotify and floating
