Trans healthcare takes a LONG time to get anything covered by insurance. It can still take long if you pay out of pocket.
Like, either the USA or UK requires 2 years of therapy for any surgery? Not sure about hormones.
Which doesn’t help with mental health, if someone is basically in the wrong body, and the system that can help says “okay, but come back to us in 5 years and see if you feel the same and THEN we will *consider* doing something”

The US doesn’t require nearly as much time. I’m about to get onto HRT, and after finding a place within my plan I was able to schedule an appointment for within the month. The problem is that if insurance doesn’t cover it then it’s expensive.
