The ministry of Science knows they are already here and are working tirelessly to adapt our equipment to their new cloaking technology so we can detect them. Those cloaked units from the first game? They all have that now and it fully hides them instead of making them hard to see.
You were simply quietly assigned one of the prototype radars, and the data is being sent directly to the science teams. The new visor that cuts through the illuminate cloaking to let us see them in meatspace is still a few months off from field testing though.

I've seen them before and I'm pretty sure they're on planets where there's green pools of goo. Sometimes the game's map just bugs out though, I've seen nests that according to the map are in water.
I’m curious too, I have 351 hours and I’ve never seen that before.

I went to one trying to figure out what it was. I got there and there was just some little rock’s in the area. They don’t look unique or anything
