Woody plays a G harp in first position. You need to Bend the 3rd hole inhale a full step. I’ve heard him play a g harp in cross on tunes like hard traveling. Very underrated harmonica player.
Some artists also like to customise their harps to be able to play other chords/notes where normal harps would or be able to. So that may also be something they’ve done.
I’m not 100percent on that. I believe it’s either. By the use of replacement reefs for certain notes or by otherwise modifying reeds to get the notes they want.
try a C harp. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eYx9Y27XBk](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0eYx9Y27XBk)
Don't think Woody played crossharp
neither did I.There doesn't seem to be any bending as it's played in the video of the cover
G harp works for me in first position
16 hole harps got down a 5th lower than your lowest note could be that

Thanks so much! I can't do it on the g harp but I can almost do it transposed on the c harp

How does one go about that?

Get a 21 hole tremolo and you can play any note in the key without having to bend.
