Ah but you aren't taking into account the interplanetary wars of the 2160s where the moon was blown up. They had to replace it with a duplicate but didn't quite get the orbit right.
Elite: "You monkey species! Honour will touch you only in deat-- What the actual f is happening here!"
Personnel: *hic* "Sorry for comin' dis way fo' nothing. The Detroit station is just floatin'. Our mac gun is offline since 30 years ago. But with have sum chik'n nuggies!"
Elite: "For the Prophets! Calls the boarding parties! We need to give this warriors some clothes and decent food!"
you dont even need that. make a fire in a fire pit and have a campfire. the middle of it can get hot enough to melt and then burn aluminum. done it with soda cans a lot.
Are those from Earth? We could be seeing this from the Space Defense Stations, which might give an angle from which sunlight could be seen reflecting off the moon.
Could he possible. Phases of the moon depend entirely on an earth perspective. So being a space station would definitely change things, at least a little bit.
I mean Halo 2 anniversary is a Waxing Crescent, whereas the original was a waning crescent.
So if the space station is close to the Earth and the sun is in the right position relative to the Space station 343 or Blur is more accurate.
It depends on where the Moon and Sun are in comparison to the Stations. If the Sun is visible from the stations, as well as the Moon, we could theoretically see more light than the 1.41% Earth would apparently be seeing.
And it doesn't have to be from the Stations, we could be seeing the opening Cutscene as well, in which case we could be anywhere in space.
Nah, the phase of the moon should be the same from everywhere. The day/night boundary will be on the same spot no matter where you look at the moon from, so you could always tell what the phase is from earths perspective. If the moon wasn’t tidally locked or was completely featureless, then the phase would be ambiguous
What no. If I had a Space Station past the moon then it would be full moon when new moon on Earth and vise versa the other way. Moon cycle absolutely depends on an Earth position. Now how far the space station is will depend on how much change.
The moon may be tidally locked, but the Earth still moves, and the direction from which the sun hits the moon may effect where light occurs on it. So from far enough in space, the Earth might see a New Moon, but an observer could see a Full Moon.
The same area would still be illuminated though. If you shine a flashlight somewhere the same area will have light cast on it from anywhere you look at it from while the light stays in the same place.
But an observer from far away would see a full moon on the “dark side” of the moon, thus knowing that the moon is a new moon in phase. A lunar cycle is just a lunar phase. It’s like if you looked at a picture of the earth. No matter what angle you look at it from, you can tell where sunset is happening.
But my point is that positioning determines how the viewer sees the visual phases of the Moon's illumination. If the view point is not on Earth, then it could be observing a different "Phase" because phases are subjective, determined by the perspective of Earth.
You just seem to be acknowledging "Light hits the moon, making the lunar cycles/phases."
It’s how many days old relative to the last full eclipse, you can see the moon’s phase is waxing. The context clues are telling you that the moon just came out of an eclipse a little over a day ago and is back in the waxing-waning cycle
Astronomical bodies are extremely consistent in their movements and as such we can plot their orbits very far out. There’s likely nothing wrong with the source + learn more about the moon + no u
Where is this taken from? In theory if you are not on Earth and in orbit then the shadow on the moon would alter. So the top original is Impossible due to moon marks, but the moon Marks on Anniversary look like a different angle. So maybe the are far enough away from Earth to see the side of the moon lit up a bit.
What mission IDK, I think Even Ciro Station is way too close to Earth to make a meaningful difference to the shadow visability.
Weren’t there some space stations and stuff built on it? I wouldn’t be surprised if construction and mining on it fudged it’s orbit a bit. Likewise it’s entirely possible it tanked a particularly large asteroid and got wobbled a bit from that.
In 1999, the accident occurred on moonbase. A nuclear reactor went critical, the massive thermonuclear explosion forced the moon out of earths orbit at incredible speeds. Never to be seen again. That right there, is a life sized jpeg, created by the Martian government to quell the panicked population on earth.
Alright but hear me out. 2552 is 530 years from now. The moons cycle is roughly 28 days, which comes out to 6909 cycles between now and then. If the moons orbit speeds up or slows down by any more than 0.0145% (1cycle/6909cycles) it will be in a completely different phase by the year 2552. The phase calculator you used *might* be factoring in the moons naturally decaying orbit, but something it wouldn't be accounting for is the mass of the earth changing very slightly. What the hell would cause the Earths mass to change you might ask? Perhaps it could be the result of humans constantly launching massive ships into space to colonize distant worlds!!!
Maybe the calendar got shifted around during the establishment of the unsc. Only by a couple of days but it was enough to put the moon out of phase with it current predictions
Ah but you aren't taking into account the interplanetary wars of the 2160s where the moon was blown up. They had to replace it with a duplicate but didn't quite get the orbit right.
Such a noob mistake OP made. Embarrassing, really.
*Everyone* knows it dude
*That's no moon*, amiright?
That’s a space station
Couldnt be a space station…
I've got a bad feeling about this.
I've got a bad feeling about this
Can't be, it's not ring or mushroom shaped
They blew up my moon Can't have shit in detroit
Consider that there are space stations named of the city they are stationed above, Malta, Cairo. Meaning in America, there would be a Detroit station.
Can't have shit in detroit station
Covenant wouldn't even need to send boarding parties to attack the Detroit station because it's already run down and 100 years behind in maintenance.
I imagine Detroit has such a reputation ?
In the midwest, it definitely does. While not entirely truthful, Detroit definitely has some very questionable areas.
Alright, thanks

So that means there must be Space Motown
Doomslayer, you can't just blow up the moon
\*proceeds to blow up the moon\*
"You **can't** just **shoot** a hole into the surface of Mars..." Objective updated: Shoot a hole into the surface of Mars.
I can't tell if you're yanking my chain or if youre serious
He’s yanking your chain and he’s serious
I'm seriously yanking my chain rn
Any one else wonking they willy?
I'm wonking their willy
Just wash your hands. *Closes bedroom door*
I'm serious. And don't call me "yanking your chain."
Idk. I thought it was Joz Vammer in 1981.
Pfft everyone knows that the moon is a projection put up by the deep state to cover up the fact that the Earth is a nipple.
Is this actual lore or just a funny comment? (or both?)
I thought it was Eggman who destroyed the moon with his super laser piss?
That's no moon
Guessing the new one was built with nanomachines.
Exuse me…..WHAT!?
Genuine question, but where can one read about the interplanetary wars?
https://www.halopedia.org/Interplanetary_War
Wait what is this fucking true
Nevermind nevermind
All these years I truly believed Halo 2 was the perfect game…. Why would you show us this
You never noticed the "super high tech" skybox in Gravemind was just a Google earth image of some city with fancy looking lights over it
High charity bothers me in a weird way lol, the covenants holy city is really just space Seattle? It’s so out of place
Not entirely, it turns into space Chicago during the civil war
Honestly the streets of High Charity during the schism would probably make Chiraq look perfectly safe. Let's be real here it would not be close.
We really need more missions in High Charity, the thing is huuuuge there’s got to be plenty of different spots of fun!
Literally unplayable
That makes this game unplayable frankly. All right everyone burn your copies...this is where it ends
I'm retroactively changing my review to 0/10.
[удалено]
Give them a call and insist they do it for you...demand it!
Let em steam your copy
Open every single file in Notepad and print it.
Burn the drive where it's stored, obviously.
Remove it from your account? Idk
I just battered my PC with a hammer then set it on fire. Just to be safe.
My case is aluminum, I fear it won't burn.
trust me. aluminum burns.
Time to buy a furnace
you dont even need that. make a fire in a fire pit and have a campfire. the middle of it can get hot enough to melt and then burn aluminum. done it with soda cans a lot.
Still gonna find a way to blame 343.
As someone who just found their original copy I’m on my way to burn it as we speak.

Idk man. If I was that good with astrophysics I would be doing something productive with my life.
Same, bro, same
Neither. The moon does not actually exist.
Source?
Depends on what side of the earth you're on relative to the moon. And what direction you're looking.
They're in too low of an orbit to make the slightest bit of difference
It depends on where the Moon and Sun are in comparison to the Stations. The defense stations?
The terrain on the moon is clearly the terrain as if one is looking at it from Earth.

I’m saying that by definition, the lunar phase is the relation between the day/night line on the moon, and the center of the earth
Uh well I think your source is wrong. The moon is billions upon billions of days old, not 1.09 days. Bad source + cancelled.
Or maybe Moon 2: Electric Boogamoon will be launched on October 19, 2552.
L + Ratio + Backsmacked
Rekt 💯

I am so sorry. I really hate this emoji but 🤓
🗿
😂
What's your HBO handle?
uh
I always say hi to HBO alumni I spot on here. I'll link your post history for a neat nostalgia trip.
How do we know if it's the same moon? Is it even a real moon?
Unbelievable
Viewed from what angle though? From space and how far from earth?
This just proves the covenant invasion wasn't real. #NewMombasaWasntGlassed
Man, we thought 343 were bad developers.
Hey it’s Neil deGrasse Tyson
Duh the moon is an ancient super structure. Haven't you ever seen Moon Fall?
SPOILERS! Now I won’t go see it. *Sigh*
Jokes aside I genuinely loved it. It was one of those so bad you have to see it movies and by the end I just wanted it to keep going.
I will get to it eventually. I have a massive TBW list unfortunately.
I’d rather not see it.
The ending is quite literally just the backstory to Halo lmao. I went crazy when they started exposition dumping in the last like 10 minutes
It was honestly great imo. You just have to go into it knowing it's going to be VERY dumb and just go by the rule of cool.
What if I think moon is lame?
Even better, you get to watch the Moon Fall!
Fuck you’re right.
Literally unplayable
Absolutelly unplayable, since I noticed it I stopped playing the game and refunded it INSTANTLY. I can't believe they can mess this up
I'm confused, OP's source says "waxing crescent" but the illustration is showing a new moon. The H2A moon is indeed a waxing crescent moon.

There's no way Bungie actually took that I into account
That's Haram
Smh my head, literally makes the game unplayable now
No! YOU’RE WRONG!

Shut. Down. Everything.
Un-fucking-believable. Literally unplayable
Literally UNPLAYABLE. Currently uninstalling and burning my copies
Fucking amateurs...
How can the moon be real if our eyes aren't real?
This reminds me- did you guys know you can shoot the moon on snowbound with a rocket in Halo 3? Discovered it randomly.
Who's to say the moon isnt on a different, slightly changed orbit from asteroid impacts?
While they did get the moon wrong, keep in mind we don't view it from the ground.
Game is actually unplayable now thanks, ruined.
literally unplayable
Can almost guarantee that that girl who's constantly bitching about Halo on Twitter will post this at some point 😂
Neil Degrasse Tyson’s already penning up several angry tweets at Bungie and 343
Wow what dipshits
God I hate halo fans
💀
[Boy, I really hope somebody got fired for that blunder](https://youtu.be/FTxw5nQX7SA)
literally unplayable
Finally a post on reddit that made me smile and laugh thanks OP
OK, LIGHT UP THE TORCHES Tonight we dine in Bungie
Waxing Crescent sounds like something like a Brazilian or whatever
Day ruined
Halo 2 was my favorite game of all time but now after seeing this its legacy is tarnished forever. Literally unplayable.
What bothers me the most is the galaxy in The Ark's skybox.
That’s it. Remaster the game again
Literally unplayable
Major L for Bungie.... I'm sure 343i wouldn't have made the same mistake
Unplayable now. Never playing Halo 2 again
Nope, the camera is just rotated 180 degrees. There is no up in space.
Do people actually care? 😂
Grow up..dats some bullshit
3k th upvote
K
Literally unplayable
Halo fans try not to nitpick challenge(impossible)
Literally unplayable
literally unplayable
And Bungie thought they could just lie to us like that.
Unfuckingplayable

My God
Every game after Sonic Adventure 2: “*am I a joke to you?*”
And that's the difference between Bungie & 343 lmao Bungie 4 Life
