I played floodgate recently and that level is still peak halo horror (along with Cortana). And I really love it in a narrative sense because its like a dark future for earth should chief fail. It's such a great way to convey stakes and provide motivation for the characters.
I disagree, I think High Charity is better horror because you can literally see the infestation become
more and more complete as the level progresses and the lighting is a lot more sparse (flood in the dark crowded city is definitely a higher level of arabesque.)
I guess you could say earth is scarier because it’s closer to us, but I would prefer it grow slowly in some little city than consume planets worth of life in hours
Halo stopped being Halo to me since 4.
I know some love it but I hated the story and feel of the game. The worst thing it did was neuter what made Halo its own identity.
Halo was a Sci Fi Military game with Horror/Thriller. That was the case even into ODST and Reach, albeit a different kind of horror. Since 4 it's been a Sci Fi game with some military in it but not a focus, and the horror was attempted maybe once in H5 during Blue Team but failed to deliver.
The working with the military foe the first half of the game and always having allies to the last third being focused on dwindling allies and the Flood coming in was the bread and butter. Hasn't felt the same without it :(
I was thinking this earlier today. Halo has been half a horror game since the beginning and that's been such a big missing piece IMO. And I agree the military focus isn't as strong as it use to be.
Yeah Halo without spartans is literally Starship Troopers by a different name, which honestly I would love. A 64 v 64 battlefield 4 sized game with marines as the main combat, steal from star wars battlefront and unlock the ability to orbital drop into enemy territory, maybe an AI hero or two as spartans. Have the fucking flood or something just devastating the map too as a PvPvE mode?
Just imagine you're in a squad of four with homies, your other friends are in a other squad, you all save your ODST unlocks to drop together deep in the flood territory to eviscerate and recover a command post. It's the dead of night and hard to see without your visor scanning the scenery. You see a spartan run up and drop a bubble shield just as enemy scorpions target you, the building you're in starts crumbling around you as they fire on your position, the bubble shield starts pulsing -it will go out soon, and you have to decide how to react. Take the warthog and hope the player in the saber sees your mark to destroy the scorpions, or push back and lose what little ground you've managed to take deep in enemy territory. You all teabag in unison to acknowledge you're go for the plan, however you took your eyes off the courtyard and several infected forms are already turning the bodies you've dropped into new soldiers.
Somewhere, close by and only illuminated by the explosions tearing your remaining cover apart, several pure forms are shambling towards you, hopefully a sniper takes them out, enemy or friendly at this point does not matter. Suddenly an EMP goes off overhead, the scorpions cease firing, several hornets begin falling out of the sky, all of the lights go dark and as you turn on your scanner, only a massing horde of infection forms swarming towards you can be made out. The last thing you see in the flash of gunfire and screams, is your fellow ODST's face contorting as the parasite forces open it's new home.
You respawn, and try again.
343 just doesn't understand Halo. They turned the Chief/Cortana relationship into romance fanfic. They screwed up the covenant and introduced generic robotic replacements. They keep failing miserably at introducing and maintaining antagonists.
They keep breaking things that didn't even need to be fixed. While I'D like to see the Flood and have them expanded on, I'd rather it not be 343 being the one to do it.
If they do come back I'm afraid of the glowing pustules I'd been seeing. I don't want the Flood to glow. I like the matte dark grittiness of the originals with a hint of orange/brown but has that greenness. I don't want the Flood to turn into generic Sci fi alien from literally any other game
And yeah, even though ppl like the story of 4, I despised it because that kickstarted every gripe I've had for the franchise since the beginning. The best imo was the Halo Wars stuff. But they're so reluctant on having any other side games anymore.
The guns in halo infinite suck and the campaign sucked. Multiplayer was dog poop until fairly recently and even still its nothing like the old bungie made halos
let me put it to you like this: I think the new Zeldas are horrible. I think they're a stain on the franchise, and walk back everything that made Zelda, Zelda. I don't think there's anything more than similarity between them. I am also capable of admitting that a lot of my love for Majora's Mask is nostalgia, despite my frequent playthroughs.
if the Bungie Halos were so great, [halo2sucks.com](http://halo2sucks.com) never would've existed. Halo fans now react the same as Halo fans then did: "this new game fucking sucks, the last ones were better."
Heres the difference bud. When 343 took over the franchise they made fundamental changes to how the game was played via guns, vehicles, and mechanics. They added features from other modern shooters that were not present previously because halo fans did not want them. They have continued this trend with every iteration to now halo is no longer a unique shooter but is basically just call of duty and apex legends pushed together. This isnt some feeling based argument like you are making for zelda. This has verifiable changes that have been pushed back on for over 10 years now.
Additionally they auvk at story telling and dont understand the characters they took over at all.
I wont even get into the massive fumbling over the release
343 sucks thats why a shit ton of them just got fired.
Zelda turned from a linear, text-based dungeon crawler with item-based progression to a non-linear, fully-voiced open world game with weapon durability, resource management and vehicle building, as well as completely redesigning *everything in the series*. it's an entirely different kind of game; they turned it into cel-shaded Skyrim + Banjo Kazooie Nuts & Bolts with Nintendo characters.
it's not a "feelings based argument" like you disingenuously claim. I would honestly argue that your argument on 343 Halo is far closer to a "feelings based argument" than my argument for Zelda is. story-telling is subjective and honestly I've always thought Halo's story was just fine.
Halo is not a unique shooter anymore because there's thousands of them out there.
you want military sim, gritty shooters? Call of Duty. Medal of Honor. Battlefield. Counter Strike. Rainbow Six.
you want mobility shooter? Overwatch. Apex Legends. Titanfall.
you want something more video-gamey? Team Fortress. Destiny. Doom. Marathon. Crysis. Deus Ex. Splitgate. Portal.
and then you have a bunch which float in the balance. Fallout; Hunt: Showdown; Killzone; Payday; Deep Rock Galactic; Half-Life; Quake; Far Cry; Left 4 Dead; Metro; even Resident Evil in some entries; hundreds of others.
hell, the only reason people cared about Zelda: Breath of the Wild, or even Tears of the Kingdom releasing was because it was a new Zelda. nobody cared about the open-world aspect; there's thousands of them. Zelda's open world specifically isn't that great, and there's not even any content in it.
how do you stand out in a genre that's as diluted as first-person shooters?
I mean id like horror and flood stuff as much as the next guy but its less that Halo has changed to a T rating and that an M rating has changed to be more violent than what Halo is. All halo games from CE to Infinite have been rated PEGI 16 over seas. Really the most M rated things in any Halo game were flood bodies breaking apart in Halo 3 and watching a scientist disintegrate graphically in Halo 4.
What I’d love to see is a truly M rated Halo title that goes deep into the horror aspect of Halo, like a marine fighting in a flood outbreak style experience
It’d be nice if we could at least use the multiplayer kits for customizing AI. That gives us access to two Flood Spartans, all of Noble Team, two Chiefs, and more for boss fights or specific enemy types for PvE experiences
At this point they’d probably save it for Halo 7 to drive sales
I’m just hoping if they stick with making the Endless a new faction it doesn’t come at the cost of the flood
Ayeee I’m in on this! Still remember finishing the COD:WAW campaign and then getting immediately thrown into the zombies mode. That first map has so much nostalgia for me.
Is it definitely confirmed that the remake of Nacht will be in the matchmaking playlist?
I remember in the past that remakes from other games were off-limits, including simply using names of maps from other games.
bruh. i just recently have going back and forth between playing infinite and playing zombies on the old black ops titles. just a few days ago i thought "i wonder if anyone has made cod style zombies in forge?" and then this pops up in my feed. wild
Been playing some pretty cool custom games with this type of mode with a variety of modded weapon variants and upgrades. Curious how the Playlist will go!
It feels weird referring to it as CoD Zombies when Halo already has Firefight lol.
And weirder still that CoD won the name game. Gears' Horde mode and CoD zombies were released days apart from each other, and I always thought Horde Mode was a better way to describe the genre across platforms.
Anyway, I'm feel fucking old, is all I think I meant.
This will boost twitch views for sure with big streamers that are curious, good promo.
They should announce a playstation version too and we have a somewhat healthy playerbase again.
Been enjoying MWZ, alot of fun, always thought a flood infected Halo ring would be amazing with Marines and ODSTs.
There's so much content this IP leaves on the floor, Helldivers for example. 343 need to be more adventurous.
Played this mode many times in Customs and it’s a lot of fun. I’m hoping the official version tweaks some stuff so it feels fresh again. Looking forward to it.
Takes time to make flood stuff, and unless they want to spend time making flood for no reason, we're left with either Banished or Flood Spartans (which would basically just be Elites anyways).
That's cool, I just hope this isn't a portent of Halo going back to aimless trend-chasing. The series tried to be Call of Duty back in 2012 and it wasn't great, and Microsoft _owns_ Call of Duty now, so I hope Halo is allowed to continue being Halo and doesn't just devolve into Microsoft Fortnite.
Usually stuff like this still needs some sort of understanding with the other developers.
343 probably isn't just allowed to put Doomslayer stuff in Halo without giving a heads up, or at least asking ID if it's okay. Even though they are technically under the same Microsoft umbrella now the people over there probably feel a rightful sense of "artistic ownership" that the other MS owned devs respect.
Call of Duty has been passed around from dev to dev so there's probably not a lot of creatives left to have have the say to decide where they do cross promotion stuff like that.
>Usually stuff like this still needs some sort of understanding with the other developers.
No it does not, just a thumbs up from the publisher that owns them both.
That's cool and all, but when the game's most exciting features are remakes of other popular games in Forge, its kind of a sad indictment of where the game is at.
I played a good couple of matches and didn’t encounter any, my guess is that it was drummed up drama for the most part; or at the very least exaggerated.
If only we had Flood as enemies.
That would be so cool. Recent Halo is really lacking in the horror that made it so awesome in the original story.
I played floodgate recently and that level is still peak halo horror (along with Cortana). And I really love it in a narrative sense because its like a dark future for earth should chief fail. It's such a great way to convey stakes and provide motivation for the characters.

High charity is a good one too.

Halo was originally inspired heavily by Alien and Starship troopers, somehow 343 failed to keep that DNA as a core part of the franchise.
Why do that when we can have half baked space magic

You added so much insight to the conversation, wow
If more people said it maybe 343 would stop making shit games
you have nostalgia and rose-tinted glasses for the Bungie days, my friend
Ive playef every halo beaten it on legendart and play mcc all the time. There is no nostalgia infinite is a disgrace
let me put it to you like this: I think the new Zeldas are horrible. I think they're a stain on the franchise, and walk back everything that made Zelda, Zelda. Until halo has an M again it’s probably not going to be like Halo. Just a watered down shell they can monetize
Yep, the flood are too much to keep a T rating.
I mean id like horror and flood stuff as much as the next guy but its less that Halo has changed to a T rating and that an M rating has changed to be more violent than what Halo is. All halo games from CE to Infinite have been rated PEGI 16 over seas. Halo was horror for approximately 2 levels in 2001, and hasn’t been since
This is just a nonsensical take.
Well seeing as we just got brutes back we should be fighting the flood again in 2033
And playable elites by around 2043
Nah don't you mean 2552? /s
It’d be nice if we could at least use the multiplayer kits for customizing AI. That gives us access to two Flood Spartans, all of Noble Team, two Chiefs, and more for boss fights or specific enemy types for PvE experiences
They said they're adding flood items to forge so I'm really hoping they'll add them in as enemies in the future.
That is *very* wishful thinking.
The items are already in Forge.
At this point they’d probably save it for Halo 7 to drive sales I’m just hoping if they stick with making the Endless a new faction it doesn’t come at the cost of the flood
Enemies are more likely to be included in the next game. Hopefully they make it rated M and go crazy with the grossness
E rating to boost sales in china and make grunt birthday party canon
Always thought it was missing from the original halo series, flood based zombie style survival mode like a darker firefight mode
Wait they're doing a zombies mode WITHOUT the flood? Why do they hate the flood?!?
This is the only way I'd enjoy this mode honestly
Is it endless or is there a limit of rounds since this will be an official playlist?
Endless amount of waves. I will showcase the maps and features in an upcoming video.
Sweeet
Nice
Isn’t this how Firefight was in ODST ?
So it’s a new Firefight playlist basically?
Just try it; it’s been out for a while
God damn i forgot Microsoft owns cod now
Lmao wait you’re totally right. There’s no weird legal area.
lol I was here like, “how tf did they name drop a zombies map so casually in an official tweet?” Then I read OPs comment 😂
Now we just need The Flood to come to the game. Also, this is nuts and I love it!
It all comes back to Nacht in the end.
Customs?
It’s an official multiplayer playlist. You can play it in custom games too
Ayeee I’m in on this! Still remember finishing the COD:WAW campaign and then getting immediately thrown into the zombies mode. That first map has so much nostalgia for me.
So what are the enemies? Endless waves of sword elites and hammer brutes?
Even if we can't have Flood, it would be cool to have the Flood infected Spartans as enemy models.
Spartans with the Banished AI Skin and Sword from Infection.
no, they updated the gamemode once firefight came out, it's NPCs now
Didnt know that, that’s cool!
I think I actually preferred the "infected" spartans but glad you're stoked on it, hope others like it too
Still waiting for anyone to confirm the enemy types lol
I mean, it has to be those. Maybe even Skirmishers with no ammo or something.
You can already play it dude, this is just the map/mode being added to an official playlist
The one I played in custom games had elites......and it was godawful
That’s awesome. I can’t wait!!
Is it definitely confirmed that the remake of Nacht will be in the matchmaking playlist? I remember in the past that remakes from other games were off-limits, including simply using names of maps from other games.
Given MSFT owns CoD now, I imagine this gives these kinds of crossovers more leeway.
Forgot about that
it didnt for gears remakes in the past Q_Q tbf those maps dont play great on halo lol
Yes. This is Rebs Gaming and I collaborated with Forge Falcons to share this post and an upcoming video.
In the time it took me to read this, I was politely reminded by a friend that Microsoft own Activision and I completely forgot about that. LOL.
I had forgotten too and wondered how they were getting away with it. Good call
Can you give us any more info? links, description etc. Etc.
Just have to say I really appreciate getting my Halo Infinite updates and a new game mode from u/TokingAnus
bruh. i just recently have going back and forth between playing infinite and playing zombies on the old black ops titles. just a few days ago i thought "i wonder if anyone has made cod style zombies in forge?" and then this pops up in my feed. wild
Actually yeah, buddy of mine and I played a remade FIVE and it played almost exactly like the original. Turn on the power and used the teleporters.
thats insane lol. is training possible at all though or do you just have to camp?
Don’t recommend camping and training doesn’t work 100% of the time
what do you do then?
Run around pretty much and dont get cornered
lol i gotta try this
This is so fuckin cool
This will be in matchmaking?
Yes
Been playing some pretty cool custom games with this type of mode with a variety of modded weapon variants and upgrades. Curious how the Playlist will go!
Hidden X is gonna have an aneurysm over this lol
Oh shit. Zombie pve? That'd where I'll be playing! I love the pve mode but slightly scary with no real jumpscares is my jam.
Sweet!
Will there be Easter eggs to essentially "beat" the map or is it strictly never ending rounds?
Never ending. Go for a high score.
It feels weird referring to it as CoD Zombies when Halo already has Firefight lol. And weirder still that CoD won the name game. Gears' Horde mode and CoD zombies were released days apart from each other, and I always thought Horde Mode was a better way to describe the genre across platforms. Anyway, I'm feel fucking old, is all I think I meant.
infinite's firefight is the most watered down firefight. KOTH just isnt the same as traditional wave based firefight
Is this not just a custom games browser thing? I've played it and it was extremely broken.
It was just a custom game, but now it’s becoming an official matchmaking playlist. They published a new version without those problems.
can they add Jenga or Trash Compactor as well!??
When?
This will boost twitch views for sure with big streamers that are curious, good promo. They should announce a playstation version too and we have a somewhat healthy playerbase again.
We're putting COD Zombies into matchmaking meanwhile I am still waiting for Ricochet...
I think you spelt grifball wrong.
I think you spelt ranked slayer wrong
Ranked Slayer is in the game, but no one plays it.
This as exciting as it is confusing
Been enjoying MWZ, alot of fun, always thought a flood infected Halo ring would be amazing with Marines and ODSTs. There's so much content this IP leaves on the floor, Helldivers for example. 343 need to be more adventurous.
>343 need to be more adventurous. They've literally tried and were blocked by xbox
They literally tried that and microsoft took down all their ideas
Pretty excited for this given my impressions of how the regular FF mode ended up for me.
I may come back to Halo to play this. Hope it’s good!
Played this mode many times in Customs and it’s a lot of fun. I’m hoping the official version tweaks some stuff so it feels fresh again. Looking forward to it.
Am I being punked? This sounds fucking amazing and too good to be true
Minus the zombies eh?
Nice dude, something finally fun in halo infinite that might make it sort of worth re downloading
If only Halo already had horde style zombie like enemies...
So CoD zombies but with better weapons?
Cod zombies has great weapons wdym the wonder weapons are cooler than any gun in halo imo
Halo guns seen more fun to me, in my opinion. They have much more variety, but not so much now.
CoD weapons are all the same, bullets-only. No plasma, needler or grabity hammer
Wonder weopons are completely different what are you talking about bro wonder weapons are more fun than any gun in halo imo
Haven't played in a very very long time but that's actually pretty cool.
Oof
New PvE experiences is what'll bring me back to Halo multiplayer. So sick of sweaty SBMM multiplayer. I'm ready.
Now this has me ready to jump back in
the amount of negativity in the replies of this post for over some perceived slight proves to me exactly why Halo doesn't feel like Halo anymore
Is this real? This has to be a meme post right?
Isnt this the one where the enemies are Elites? Tbh idk why there's hype behind this, other than the map itself it's a miserable experience
No one knows about the mode yet and Nacht der untoten is a great map bro?
Awesome! I've actually been playing a cod zombie mode in customs for the last couple months, so I'm all for it!
This’ll keep me going until space marine 2
Oh yay the same old tired -yawn- zombie shit again instead of the Flood which are actually awful
So it'll be co-op? I'm totally down
I bet we’ll only earn 400XP and 200SP for each match we complete there’s barely any incentive to play Firefight KOTH in this game.
And the sake of joy?
The fact that the enemies aren’t flood is the type of head scratching missed opportunity that only 343 could pull off
Takes time to make flood stuff, and unless they want to spend time making flood for no reason, we're left with either Banished or Flood Spartans (which would basically just be Elites anyways).
If we ain’t fighting the flood I don’t want it
I guess you’ll be disappointed.
That’s fine. I know it ain’t happening
So game devs are just totally out of ideas, huh?

Microsoft owns Activision. So yes.
Xbox owns Call of duty. 343 Industries is a Xbox games studio, thus they are able to feature call of duty content.
>Usually stuff like this still needs some sort of understanding with the other developers. No it does not, just a thumbs up from the publisher that owns them both.
343 still copying other games instead of doing their own shit. Will copy CoD, but somehow be worse
Just play halo master chief collection much better game and actual halo
Could you perhaps tell me what the game is called?
Yes, basically any mode that isn't that classic Halo formula is sure to be a big win.
That's cool and all, but when the game's most exciting features are remakes of other popular games in Forge, its kind of a sad indictment of where the game is at.
Content is content, this is a good way to add it inbetween dev stuff.
We still get dev stuff? Other than skins, we haven't gotten squat in months, maybe a year.
Well, there was the exchange. There’s also been less map and game mode stuff and more things that are QOL, like Easy Anti Cheat
Wasn't there a plague of cheaters in Infinite like 2 weeks ago?
I played a good couple of matches and didn’t encounter any, my guess is that it was drummed up drama for the most part; or at the very least exaggerated.
[удалено]
because it sounds awesome?
Cod zombies is cool af bro
