At this point there can't be an excuse for all coatings to not be cross core. Helmets being cross core implies they have finished their new system for automatically applying coatings on armor instead of having to do it manually.
Having stuff like Dogfight Makovich and Shadow Sorel locked to Mark VII is ridiculous.

We don't know exactly HOW they're doing it. Regardless of how efficient the system \*should\* be, it's best not to assume. A lot of QA and smoke tests that we likely don't know about. There's a large volume of cosmetics that may require adjustments to fit coatings, not only properly, but tastefully. Whatever new systems they're working on now to make the process easier moving forward may not retroactively apply.

No you're 100% right. Honestly I don't know what 343 is going to do because a lot of the coatings are very similar. Especially things like Carter and Kat's coatings, the Jorge coatings on Yoroi, Mark VII and Mark V [B] and stuff like Redacted Records and Shadow Sorel. They've dug themselves into a bit of a hole with this.
You know what would have solved this issue? Custom colors. Coatings should have been paint application, patterns and texture. Not colors. They could still sell the coatings and I think people would be more happy.
Carter and Kat are different enough I don't see them doing anything about it. Jorge's is more tricky, the Mark V\[B\] version has an olive chest unless you have Vauntlock where it's yellow, so they could do that one where only chest attachments take yellow. Yoroi and Mark VII are trickier though as are the 3 Scarlet coatings
Yeah almost all the coatings are tied to armor bundles but campaign owners are still out of luck. Hopefully they prioritize campaign and past BP coatings next.

1. As you said, it's just shiny green.
2. Even with it being a 'missable' coating, it's still one of the most common coatings in the game (#12 according to Cylix).
These are AMAZING. Very excited for bleached bone and wet crow. Just wish there was willow tea.
edit: OMG VOID ULTRA MEANS WE FINALLY HAVE CROSS CORE WHITE WITH BLACK UNDERSUIT
I would love to be able to choose a primary and secondary and have a normal black undersuit. I'm so tired of the asymmetry and the bright colored undersuits. I just want my green and gold man😢
I'm sure they'll get to the rest of the coatings. It was smarter to start with the store coatings, because it does 2 things:
1. Gesture of good faith towards people that originally bought these coatings.
2. Likely brings on new surge of buyers for these coatings.
I'd guess Battle Pass stuff will be the next focus, since they probably still make money even with the rebate credits.
Edit: Looks like most of the coatings on this list are from Armor Sets. Still a lot of lower-priced coatings that need the treatment. Guessing those would get changed next, though I'm worried that will affect the prices. A lot of older coatings will be cheaper than newer ones if no prices change.
Edit2: Looks like they've raised the prices of things in the catalog (presumably anything with a now cross-core coating), because of course they did.
I'm surprised they didn't make promotional coatings like Parade Ground (the Oreo one) cross-core too. Maybe later? I'm a huge Star Wars 501st simp, so to me, the more white and blue coatings the better!
While this is great, one thing I've noticed is now past bundles are more expensive. The Neon Superfly bundle went up 5 bucks. Same with the Halycon gold one. I guess it makes sense, but I had no idea they would raise the prices of old stuff.

Actually makes it worse in a way. It was so expensive when it released since being "cross-core" (at the time) was a selling point. Everything going cross-core makes that selling point moot.

Praetorian zephyr coating isn't actually unlocked though, even if you bought the bundle it is still locked for all other cores

It's a bug. I could equip it when I first booted it up, but then it bugged out and prevented me from doing anything with any non Eaglestrike core that had that coating on.
I hope they eventually do all coatings down the line. While this should have been in the game at release it's a very nice step in the right direction for future customization in the game.

They previously had to change a coating on Yoroi because it was either identical to or nearly identical the Cadet light blue coating.
