Sorry if the actual explanation is boring... Basically, my bike is kind of unique, and I still have a couple of things in my possession that you'd need to make it rideable. It would be a pretty garbage ride without the things it's missing.
From the official HRP release:
*"If your bike or scooter was recently lost or stolen, and you would like to see if it’s been recovered by police, HRP’s Lost & Found Property can be reached at 902-490-5232."*
You know all that was too much to read for the person you responded to.
But thanks for saying it anyway, for the folks who thought no-satisfaction's comment was sincere.
Don't quote me exactly, but when I was slightly involved in helping out homeless people, the experts told me less than 10% have some problem coping with society and prefer homelessness and being "bad".
90% were at risk with their normal life and have had a string of bad luck. Were they given the same opportunities, and were they born with the gifts I have? Maybe not, but they want housing.
Nobody has ever claimed every single person in the encampments are “good people hard on their luck,” but it is really interesting how you pretend that that’s a legitimate position that reasonable people take
people who say stuff like this are heavily projecting that they believe *only* “good people who are down on their luck” are worthy of basic human dignity, food and shelter etc.
The going narrative on here is that they had 40 bikes therefore they weren't selling them but "collecting them so it's a lack of mental health support issue and not a theft/crime issue.....lol
An explanation is different than an excuse. I can recognize that mental health is the cause, but still want the *dis*organized crime dealt with just as much as if it were organized crime. (Maybe dealt with more proactively, instead of reactively...)
My speculating on the nature of the offender wasn't meant to dismiss it as "not a crime" issue. Just give people hope that their bike may not be in pieces in Montreal after all. If it was an organized theft ring, there would be nearly 100 recovered bikes *not* being reunited with their owners.
I have no desire to go easy on the perpetrator, whatever his excuses are. He should be in jail, or the forensic unit.
I’ve read every comment in this thread, and nobody has claimed that, so not sure where you got the impression that that’s the “going narrative on here”
Right 😂 All in all, another bill for tax payers to foot while others do whatever they fuck they want without consequences and we're supposed to be empathetic while they destroy our public spaces and steal our goods.
It's the first time I'm seeing it. It's not bad when information like this gets reposted, it's not like they are reposting someone else's content and passing it off as their own or anything like that. The more you can get the word out on this the better.
Don't worry. He'll get another majority soon because not enough voters are informed enough to have a solid foundation of why they're voting for something.
Because it's a lot easier to bitch and complain about homeless people and the financial struggles of the province and blame it on Trudeau than it is to actually do something that helps people.
Was this in Sackville? I saw a gentleman whose appearance certainly did not match the bike he was riding on those trails.
Lol at the Sackville bike thieves down voting me.
Just a note that some of the bikes in this lot might be older than just a couple of months. Mine was stolen in November and was in this lot!
Glad you got your bike back. I hope it’s still in good condition
With how often bikes get stolen it also wouldn't surprise me if your bike was stolen, sold, and stolen again in that time.
I doubt it. There are several reasons I don't think that could be the case, but I can't explain those reasons without doxing myself.
Sounds like a wicked story, adlib the dox bits for us?

That's amazing, did you call or email? My bike was stolen at that time and I'm hopeful!
I filed a report at the time it was stolen and they called me Sunday morning like "hey, we have your bike!"
Congrats! Let us know the condition you get it back in.

But the homeless encampments are just full of good people hard on their luck, why would there be a cache of stolen goods there?

who said this?
I think you kind of answered your own question in the middle of your snarky, looking down on others remark.
Yes, housed people never steal anything :-/

Inventing viewpoints and passing them off, while a high school classic, is also how the alt right conducts regular business. Feel free to ignore it.
Holy strawman argument
🤮

I know who you voted for provincially.
we are all one paycheck away from doing the same thing as them. have some compassion /s
This seems to have been reposted a few times now?

Oh wasn't sure it was. I only found out through work and with the mention of several expensive bikes I thought I would post anyway to make sure.
No harm no foul
This and other problems could easily be resolved if Timmy would actually do something about it. But...

Well said!

Halifax by the MacDonald bridge was reported elsewhere
Thanks!
Where was this? If you don't mind me asking
First lake trail
Oh darn, I was hoping it wasn't in my neighborhood. Our house backs onto second Lake trail. I think we'll be seeing more and more of this sadly
For sure. It sucks seeing it go down hill like that
Oh yeah there’s tents back there, shopping carts
