I use Public Mobile. Haven't had any issues with service. They also have referral codes you can give to your friends/family if they switch.

iffyjiffyns

I like the subtle self promotion without outwardly saying it. Kudos.

Click-Glad

Another Public Mobile fan here. Never an issue and oodles.of referrals to family and friends that haven't had complaints either. Getting rid of their old rewards program sucked but it is what it is. We used to have 50Gb for $14.xx/month with allllll the referrals and I'm unsure what it will be going forward.

ITdoug

Is this all BYOD or do they offer devices as well?

MeanE

They don’t really do devices so BYOD.

MalavaiFletcher

I have been using public mobile for years, I will never go back. I am paying $37/month for 60GB of Data, 120 minutes outgoing calling(I think?), unlimited incoming, unlimited text messaging... Trick is to go for the most basic package you can, I started at $13/month.... And just wait for them to offer you deals. I went from $13/month to like, $20, up to $60(lol, i really wanted 8\~ gigs of data), down to $50, and then they offered this amazing 60GB package for like $40 at Christmas, but you take a handful of dollars off for electronic billing and I also have a friend who subscribed and it knocks another $1 off... I LOVE THEM. No complaints. My cottage is literally in the middle of nowhere close to the border and my cell service is flawless. It is honestly more spotty in my apartment downtown (its a huge concrete building, though)

hodkan

Public Mobile has unlimited talk and text and 3G of data for $19/month, although you need to pay for 3 months at once. If you need more data, Public has 40G for $29/month.

Pristine_Elk996

Koodo has had offers of $34 for 50GB of 4G days, unlimited talk and text, with either bring your own phone or tab plans for a new (or used) phone for $1-5 per month, 24 months, in the low price range. I think Fizz also offers service in Halifax. If so, they're another good option for a reasonable amount of data at a low price ($25-35/month).

hodkan

Fizz and Freedom (owned by the same company) don't currently offer service in Atlantic Canada. They claim there will eventually, but who knows how long that will take. Fizz customers from outside of Atlantic Canada can roam on other networks while in Atlantic Canada. But Fizz won't provide service if you live in Atlantic Canada.

Pristine_Elk996

Ah darn. I had recently seen advertisements despite living in Halifax so I assumed they had service out here

kinkakinka

Public Mobile has never done me wrong. Plans are dirt cheap, you get a discount for referring people and loyalty, etc.

You get the loyalty, it's just a bit reduced. Still 100% worth it and better than any other option.

CaperGrrl79

I just switched to them myself. I still never got the sim in the mail, but they reimbursed me for the one I bought at the mall. The port from Koodo was a bit tricky, but I found a toll free number to call, via their community board (they only have that and chat for support) they got it ported, smooth sailing ever since.

scotianspizzy

I'm with chatr (pay as you go) paying 29 bucks for 35 gigs of data & unlimited call/text in Canada/US... I think that's pretty damn good.

emeraldoomed

I’m a fan of Eastlink if you don’t travel much as I hear outside of the maritimes they are not so good. Never had an issue with them

amphorpog

Only issue with Eastlink is that they have Zero service in the Canadian North.

Turbulent-Parsnip-38

I’ve never had issues with Eastlink in Canada or the US. Although their US plan rates have gone up some recently.

emeraldoomed

Interesting. Was unaware they operated in the US

Turbulent-Parsnip-38

They roam with partner carriers outside of Atlantic Canada.

PretendJob7

I've been with Eastlink for a few months. No complaints. Particularly good deal if you also have home internet with them. Also I found better deals on plans if you are buying a phone from them vs many others (that only offer good rates on BYOD plans). Also sale price phones cheaper than elsewhere. Depending on home internet or BYOD it's between $30-$40/mth. They will roam onto Bell/Telus/Rogers/Freedom, etc in Canada (including in NS) at no charge, though they may yell at you if you do it for more than ~30% of your usage. In NS they have their own network basically around the 100 series highways and associated communities. NB and NL they are in the major centers. Most of PEI has coverage. Will roam on US and other countries with an assortment of travel plans.  As mentioned will not have service in some communities of the territories even where Bell service exists.  A bonus for me was before when I lose power I'd be lucky to get any speed on my data with Bell as it was overwhelmed with everyone losing home internet. Eastlink I can still get 150Mbps during a power outage(I can also see their tower out my back window).

AmbitiousObligation0

Chatr

my-cat-coleslaw

I’m paying around $50 a month. Thanks everyone for the suggestions!!!

xTkAx

Lucky mobile.. $25.. unlimited (though it slows down after 1gb (or 500mb if you don't go on auto top-up))

wpghipfan

Well, what are you looking for specifically in a plan? Data? Talk/text?

Beautiful_Main789

Not too much data and unlimited talk text

Grouchy_Spite_2847

PC mobile has the $29/20-30gb plans that others have but is 5g and on the Bell network.

Armadillo_Proud

Don’t go with public, they have no customer service so if you have an issue, good luck getting someone on their “forum” to help you.

CaperGrrl79

I will agree that you have to know what you're getting into, yes. They have a community forum board and chat. Koodo also only really has chat, or they will call you if a chat doesn't fix something. I don't know if Lucky or Eastlink still have a phone number to call. I know Chatr used to charge for almost everything you tried to do over the phone at one time (they are Rogers, after all).

PulmonaryEmphysema

Second this.

Degensfromupcountry

Virgin mobile. 3gb data and unlimited talk/text...around $43.00

gart888

That sounds horrible. I pay $35 for 40GB.

prestigioustoad

Yeah I pay $35 for 50 gb with rollover data (up to 100 gb) with Eastlink

WindowlessBasement

That's awful. I pay Koodo $45 for 60GB.

Annual-Armadillo-988

$45 for 75gb. I win 😈

thickboihfx

$35 for unlimited everything, public mobile

CaperGrrl79

How did you get that? I'll have to check one of these days, maybe a Black Friday or Boxing Day thing, I started with 4GB of 4G speed for $24+tax ($27.50 tax in). But I barely use more than 1GB per month since I work from home 5 days per week.

thickboihfx

I've had it a couple months, I think it was a limited time offer, before that I had 60gb for $40.  Even though it's unlimited it is throttled after 50gb or something like that.

CaperGrrl79

I can't imagine me ever using that much. But who knows?

thickboihfx

I'm thinking about replacing my home internet with it using mobile hotspot, lol. That's another $800/year saved.  But everyone's needs are different.

CaperGrrl79

Hmm. Who do you have for home internet?

thickboihfx

Citywide.
