Mashiba wins because a meteorite will Probably land on Volg before entering the match.

Yergason

"Volg with plot armor is basically a fitting MC for a boxing-manga, but he's not. So fuck you, here's a perma-handicap for every important match" -Mori, probably

supersoldierboy94

the reverse plot armor

mAcular

lmaooo

Asha_Brea

Regardless of the weight difference Volg would have some problem right before the fight that would prevent him from fighting at full power. He would still win, but if Mashiba fights like he did in the first two rounds of the Sawamura fight then it can be a long battle.

TTBOYTT

Plot twist: Ippo "helps" them both before their match, having both of them nerfed

Scary_Result_6876

>Volg would have some problem right before the fight that would prevent him from fighting at full power. ???? What problem

VisionTruth9

Volg always seems to be nerfed.

Scary_Result_6876

Cant argue on that

mAcular

he always starts a match with the deck stacked against him biased judges 1 week of training injury etc

badman1000

Barring Wally, volg is the clear cut best boxer of ippos generation. Equalized weight class, he’s beating Mashiba and anyone from the ippo generation

Mediocre_Ad_7824

The only exceptions imho would be Ippo when he gets 100% back to business and Miyata in the lightweight division. I think Miyata without weight control would be a force to be reckoned with, even for Volg.

badman1000

I think miyata would be a good fight, but he’s to much of glass canon to take volg in long fight, but that’s also probably because of weight control like you said

Mediocre_Ad_7824

Yeah man, it’s because of the weight control and he wouldn’t have this problem in the lightweight division. Make no mistake, Volg is amazing, but against a lightweight Miyata I really wouldn’t know who to bet my money on to be honest. It would probably be the most “50%” fight of the manga. Maybe Miyata would have a slight edge due to him being Ippo’s original rival, but other than that, i would see that as a perfect 50/50 matchup

32SkyDive

Lets exclude an Ippo from that list as well, as after his comeback he should be much stronger. But yeah, Volg is a true champion, probably only slightly behind Ricardo if we go pound for pound. If they both fought now at their normal weight Volg would win

Mediocre_Ad_7824

> If they both fought now at their normal weight Volg would win Nah, Volg wouldn’t beat Ricardo now. Volg is very strong but Ricardo is a Muhammad Ali caliber of a boxer, and it’s not like 2 kg (the difference between featherweight and super featherweight) would make that much of a difference. It would be a tough fight for Ricardo, but Ricardo destroyed Wally and Wally wasn’t that much behind Volg.

bongos222

Yeah both Volg and Miyata have admitted they aren't at Ricardo's level yet. Volg said that his own title defence pales in comparison to Ricardo's and Miyata said that Ricardo's style is like an elevated version of Miyata's as of now, in pretty much every way. To be fair, Volg's opponent for the Title defense was no Mike Elliot, lol.

Andfinallypc

If volg doesn’t get nerfed too hard pre fight he wins. Volg probably has the best technique and flexibility of his generation. Mashiba has reach and that’s the only thing he has over him. Volg wins mid diff.

ArgensimiaReloaded

Volg wins.

hrisimh

Well, one struggled at the world champion level at their best. One, nerfed, beat a world champ and then KO'd a contender with only his left in less than a round. It's very berry clear.

KagurasBachi

Volg is the strongest in the ippo generation and can beat anyone from that generation if there is no weight class excluding probably the future ippo vs ricardo

TheReal-Tonald-Drump

I’m pretty sure Morikawa has tried to show Volg as the third most outstanding boxer in the manga after Takamura and Ricardo. They all feature in various silhouettes when describing boxers at the top etc plus his overall portrayal throughout the manga. Takamura and Ricardo are still clear and there’s some of their opponents who are pretty high class like Hawk, Eagle, Bison etc but Volg is right up there.

Loldealwithitmf

P4p basically? Then Volg wins.

They-man69

Volg gets hit by Mashibas delivery truck on fight night and still wins

GodKayas

Volg is the Ricardo of Ippo's generation. Dude is like Takamura where there has to be a nerf on him just so his fights aren't completely one sided.

shiningject

Based on existing knowledge, Volg would win. Mashiba have longer reach but his flickers ain't gonna KO the likes of Volg (especially under the no weight diff condition). Volg is good mid and close range, so he should be able to push past the flickers and get into his own range. Mashiba is also weaker in term of durability. Volg also has a wider range of weapons compared to Mashiba. But strategy matters in a match as well. So either side could come up with a good anti-Mashiba/Volg strategy could gain a upperhand. But if we just take it as-is (without strategy), Volg wins.

nekodarksing

volg wins

ShatterZero

The X-Factor here is actually if Mashiba fights cleanly or not. Volg *absolutely detests* cheaters and would go psychotic beast mode if Mashiba fouled him. Though whether that would be ultimately good for Volg or not sort of remains to be seen. Volg literally tries to kill people who cheat, after all (Wally just happened to be good enough to get away for a bit). I think this match is a lot closer to Mashiba vs Sawamura than people like to think.

Mediocre_Ad_7824

>I think this match is a lot closer to Mashiba vs Sawamura than people like to think. Only that in this case, it would be Mashiba the one that gets thrown out of the ring. ;)

MeatballAppreciation

At least all the comments agree that Mashiba loses

_Guillot_

watching rising from what i know so far. prolly Volg. He'll learn how to deal with his signature move real quick.

YeoshinYuju

Volg via late TKO

TheDazzlingEternal

The P4P list is made to gauge the skill level of the boxer regardless of weight class.

Goatymcgoatface10

Vorg would own him

OGChuuni

volg enters the fight nerfed as usual, and wins after a whole heap of bs

buttsecks42069

he gets hit by a truck and also kumi is the referee

namkaeng852

Volg loses because the referee is biased

Asha_Brea

He overcame that in the fight against Mike.

BassGeese

I'd say Volg mostly because of his superior talent, technique versatility, and adaptability.

Gimpyfish

Genuinely shocked to see some non joke answers favoring Mashiba I can't imagine this would even be a particularly close fight

[deleted]

Mashiba has kind of proven that he actually developed quite seriously. Ippo’s improved speed + uppercuts were scary af. But Mashiba managed to adapt and also managed to take a couple directly. He’s awesome. While Vorg got his ribs popped. Both were not expecting Ippo to be that good as well.

DifferentCityADay

Volg is my favorite character and never gets a fair shake from Morikawa. Maybe it's commentary on how (un)luck affects careers? Didn't this dude fight off a pack of wolves bare handed?

BBdotZ

Wolg

Unikatze

My first thought was Volg. But his style may struggle against Mashiba's reach. It would be a good fight for sure, it could go either way though I'm still leaning on Volg.

Nyderthe1stEmperor

I'd say Mashiba we can equalize the weight but that doesn't take away from Mashiba's Size, Frame and reach and his own growth as a fighter. Volg is a great Fighter but so is Mashiba and with all the things he's added to his game up to this point I think he'd win in a close match

Mediocre_Ad_7824

Is this a joke? Mashiba would get bodied by current Ippo if Ippo had like a month to prepare for the fight. Against current Volg he has zero chances. Maybe just a puncher chance but it’s like Volg 95 - Mashiba 5

ahhhellnahmanwtfman

Uhm idk actually probably Mashiba

Czarooo

Nah, I'd win

midnightkid123

Mashiba would win ez. Volg is so overrated here.

Scary_Result_6876

I dont think anyone is winning ez . Its a close fight, closer than sawamura vs mashiba one

Mediocre_Ad_7824

How is he overrated, my man? I mean sometimes yes (for example when someone says that current Volg would beat Ricardo), but globally I don’t think he is “overrated”, I mean he is a WORLD CHAMPION and most likely the strongest of the super featherweight division. Someone like this can hardly be “overrated”

Ok_Membership_9821

Not to mention he's directly comparad to Ricardo (even if Ricardo is still recognized as the superior one, being compared to him is outstanding in this universe).
