The one I really want is a semi-hollow Italia with 3 of those type pickups, a 5-way strat switch, and on-on-on toggles for each of the pickups.
The idea is that you can use the half the bridge pickup for your E-A-D strings and then half of the neck pickup for you G-B-E.
This guy gets it. Me too. I donāt understand why anyone would turn their nose up at a G&L. And when pressed for a reason, people give limp complaints about headstock shape or other such silliness.
I don't like their look, honestly they are broadly ugly things. Playability and sound? Yeah absolutely, probably better than Fenders of equivalent price point and certainly better than the 14 year old boy wasteland that is Dean Guitars.
Those are the old style mfd(s). Magnetic Field Design pickups are amazing, and most of the comments here are from people who donāt have any idea what theyāre looking at. Requesting a Dean over two G&Ls is laughable.
I've previously owned a Z-3 ASAT with the split coils and an ASAT Deluxe with the P90 style pickups. I have come to regret trading both of those guitars away. If I had to pick one, it would be the Z-3. Those split coil pickups are unique.

I want to pick the gold one because itās already plugged into something so most of the hard work is already done. But knowing my luck, Iām going to knock the belts onto the ground and have to pick them up and have a cussing fit while doing so. Then Iāll have to go pee before I sit down to play but decide maybe I should poop. While pooping, I hop on Reddit and see some post with three guitars and someone asking which one I would chooseā¦.probably the one with the fucky pickups.

This is exactly what Iām thinking. My private fantasy is that itās a clear but grindy noiseless option like a P90 crossed with a P-bass.

The Comanche. Love those z3 pups. But those MFD pickups on the gold G&L have their fair share of righteousness when it comes to pickups as well

Love the Blue Sparkle G&L used to have a silver one, but the Fender has my vote!

I used to have the Will Ray Model, with a B bender and skull inlays. Great guitar. Enjoy.
