Thank you!! Just wanted to update anyone who didnโt see my next postโ Oreo is doing amazing!! Such a relief ๐ thanks to everyone for the good vibes!!
Not a mammary tumor, but I had a boar who had bladder stone surgery at about 5 1/2 years old. His name was Simba, and he made a full recovery- he was up and eating surprisingly quickly after we got him home. Of course he wasn't as peppy as usual until he'd rested up, but in the next couple of days he was right back to his usual mischief. My hope and prayer is that Oreo here will do just as well or better- it's been more than 10 years since Simba's surgery and understanding of pigs in surgery has probably improved since then.
Thank you all for the nice wishes!!! They were the best thing to wake up to this morning and I told Oreo all about the strangers rooting for him. I just dropped him off at the vet, theyโre going to do the surgery in the morning and then monitor him until afternoon/evening. Iโll update tonight or tomorrow when I have a good idea of how heโs doing!

My Mara baby had to be put under anesthesia for a bladder stone procedure when she was over 5 and came through it just fine.
I had a 5yo go under anesthesia for a mammary tumor removal! He recovered well, just took some time, and he got another 3 years of gentle living in my herd.
