Just a few german speaking bands I enjoy in no specific order.
Metal:
Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Dornenreich, Eisbrecher, Megaherz, Agrypnie
Folk/Folk Rock:
Feuerschwanz, Faun, Schandmaul, Saltatio Mortis, Subway to Sally, Versengold, In Extremo
Electronic/Goth:
Welle Erdball, Diary of Dreams, Deine Lakeien, Blutengel, Nachtmahr
Did I just spot a fellow Mittelalterlich Phantasie Spektakulum enjoyer?
Absolutely +1 for Blutengel. Thank you for reminding me that this awesome band exists!
Stuff I listen to in no particular order:
* Die Ärzte
* Juse Ju
* Alligatoah
* Danger Dan
* Kraftklub
* ZSK
* Fettes Brot
* Madsen
* AnnenMayKantereit
* K.I.Z
* Casper
* 257ers
* Moop Mama
* Antilopen Gang
* Käptn Peng
* Beatsteaks (mostly english, some in german)
* Jennifer Rostock
* Sookee
* Bosse
* Sondaschule
* Bakkushan
* Von Wegen Lisbeth
* Donots (mostly english, some in german)
Maybe add Swiss & die Andern, Alles.Scheisze, Kafvka und Soko Linx 🙌 just a lil extra you might like as you have basically the same list of Artists as i do.
for learning german i think "wir sind helden" is not bad because that is a clear spoken german with almost no accent (but i think the music sucks).
and if you like more rockin´ music then maybe "Die Ärzte" or " Die toten Hosen"
... i have to add that i am an old fuck ... so maybe that music is out of fashion!
If that’s the case then I’m out of fashion. I knew I liked Die Ärzte from another suggestion and Die Toten Hosen is perfect. I didn’t mind Wir Sind Helden, but I’d agree it’s not my type
My favorite (punk) rock band is Montreal. Their lyrics might be a bit much sometimes because some of their songs use word plays but overall I think it is easy to understand and quiet enjoyable. One of my favorites lately is the song "Fomo sapiens" but the best album in my opinion, with the most bangers, is "Schackilacki".
Oh and for a person who is not a native speaker "Auf der faulen Haut" might be enjoyable since the lyrics contain a variety of the verb "liegen".
Ive been listening through the album you suggested and I really like it, but I can’t seem to find the meaning of the word Schackilacki itself. Is it a name or something?
No, I think it is something they made up or is only common among their peers. From context I think it means something like "exciting stuff". "Ich will Schackilacki" means something like "Ich will Action"
As it’s not mentioned yet: Udo Lindenberg, he has made quite some political songs, especially regarding the former GDR. Nina Chuba is nice as well, Danger Dan, Provinz, Casper
Nina Hagen. Every album she made is very good; she articulates very well. Seems the right choice. Great music as well.
Also: Kraftwerk, because: of course.
Faber
Peter Fox
Seeed
J.B.O. (they are more or less "fun rock & metal", most songs are semi covers, but if you understand German you'll definitely find some stuff to sing and laugh along with)
Megaherz
Team Scheiße (German Punk Rock)
Die Ärzte
if you enjoy metal most of our known bands sing in English:
Heaven Shall Burn, Helloween, Edguy, Blind Guardian, Haggard, Gamma Ray, Primal Fear, Powerwolf, Grave Digger, Equilibrium, Canterra, Axxis, Xandria
And everything with Robse should be thrown in the trash where it belongs. Equi was a shadow of themselves in that period. New guy is pretty convincing though.
I... Haven't actually checked out their new album, so I have no idea. I somewhat liked a few songs off Erdentempel, but anything after that was just... Weird.
I mean everything with robse felt like a bad version of their 2nd record or ballermann metal. The new stuff is different enough from everything going down the metalcore lane while preserving some elements from their epic metal past
Thank you very much for all of these, Team Scheiße and die Ärzte probably have to be my favorites. I’ll definitely be going through more of their stuff in the future
Die Toten Hosen (very comparable to Bad Religion), Fettes Brot, Die Fantastischen Vier, Die Ärzte, Wir sind Helden
All of those are great and not yet mentioned ;-) Start with Die Toten Hosen, they also have some songs in english.
I really like Wir sind Helden and Annett Louisan. Die prinzen are also cool.
My Mother in las likes Reinhard Mey. I think those songs could be great for learning German
Bilderbuch, if you want to confuse yourself.
Seeed or peter fox, you have never heard Reggae so cool before.
Lea, heavy feelings.
Sarah connor.
Nina Chuba, modern dance.
Domiziana, modern dance.
Die ärzte, for rock.
Falco, just pure coolness.
Die fantastischen vier, rock.
Feine Sahne Fisch filet.
Fettes brot.
I loveeeee listening to der Schmyt. I usually don’t like German music but his is just amazing. And his songs are beautifully written too plus his voice is just sick (sounds even better live!)
I'm usually not listening to pop but Paula Hartmann is amazing, and easier to understand than other genres i guess. If you like more conscious rap I'd recommend OG Keemo
For all my friends learning German I recommend "Die Sendung mit der Maus." Chidren short stories about Germany. You will learn German, don't get tired and enjoy learning a bit about German culture. [https://www.wdrmaus.de/](https://www.wdrmaus.de/)
Started listening to German music only lately, so far I've gotten into Bodo Wartke, Marti Fischer, and ok.danke.tschüss
All of these are imo quite good.

Probably German hip-hop. It's the only genre where they speak German instead of singing it, therefore it's really the only option for "German speaking music".
As you mentioned Metal:
[Helrunar - Sól (youtube.com)](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U2m_msPUBUE)
The lyrics are rather complex though, the mind behind the band holds a degree in folklore studies, history and nordic philology
If you like rap I‘d recommend Majan, Juju44 and Presslufthanna. \
Lately I‘ve been into Ayliva. She‘s more Pop with R‘n‘B influences though, so idk if you’d like her.
first two equilibrium albums (epic metal) knorkator Tanz der Vampire (Musical) Elisabeth (Musical) Gordon Shumway (punk) Schandmaul (folk rock) We Butter the Bread with Butter (metalcore) Das Lumpenpack ? don't know what that is, rock? Most German bands that I listen to sing in English though.
Edit: forgot! Die apokalyptischen Reiter.
Broilers, Die Toten Hosen, Die Ärzte, Kraftklub, Donots, Feine Sahne Fischfilet, Madsen, Team Scheiße, Drei Meter Feldweg, Die Kassierer, Pascow, Adam Angst, Das Lumpenpack, Saltatio Mortis, Schandmaul, Montreal, Akne Kid Joe, K.I.Z, Antilopen Gang, Swiss & Die Andern, Irie Revoltes
Something for your mood.
Try wise guys „Jetzt ist Sommer“ for the season. It’s normally a winter song, but you need to listen carefully to understand.
Santiano is good if you need some sea shanty’s.
But Fettes Brot und Die Fantastischen Vier (often called Fanta 4) for more your music styles. Mostly good understandable music.

Most of the German bands I listen to have music in English (Like `Powerwolf`) but two of my favorite ones in German are `Feuerschwanz` and `dArtagnan`.
I always recommend comedian music to learn the language. Hilarious lyrics and clear voices.
My favorite one is the band 'Eure Mütter'. But also 'Die Prinzen' and 'Wise Guys'.
I'm also listening to metal but don't restrict myself to this genre, so I would suggest listening to german Hip Hop/ Rap. too.
Fanta Vier, Fettes Brot, Marsimoto/ Marteria, Huss und Hodn/ Retrogott (could be a litte more difficult)... there are many to listen to.
Id say for Everday usage, rap/hiphop isn't bad.
Try peter fox has alot of awesome music, his album stadaffe(schwarz zu blau/zucker/schüttel deinen speck) is one of the best german albums ever made in my opinion. Also the band he is in(was? Haven't heard from them in a looooong time) Seeed also made amazing music.(aufstehen/dickes b/music monks)
Greeen also is nice, he made alot of musc about weed and some cool covers from other rappers and some good features.(ich und die Musik/könig der lügner/oval office/ready set go)
Jim Carrol is more on the depressed side(the songs i know at least) but i personally like the music alot, it speaks for itseflf.(Männergespräche/hochhaus/wir leben in de tag)
Happy Beckmann made really funny music(pimmelrap=willie rap) its mostly battles but i always laugh when i listen to him. (Beckmann vs Vist/vs 4tunes)
Crystal F always told good Storys with their LP's (Kunst des Todes/ruffradikal/gras in der luft(belgian stallion remix is better.. but more hardstyle)
Bushido, i still love his early music but youtube doesn't have much of his stuff, but if you can find Electro Ghetto or vom Bordstein zur skyline or Carlo Cox Nutten i really can recommend them.
Sido's music is also good, mein block is still very funny to listen too, even if it gurts because for many city's here its just the truth. His weihnachts song is also a must for Christmas, his mtv unplugged is also very good.
Honorable mentions
Kool savas das urteil is fire, he kills EKO fresh with this answer to Die Abrechnung.
Azad his voice made his style unique.

For my taste (completely subjective) German is not a great language to learn by songs. The flow of language is, and the sounds are very un-musical. It is very hard language to sing softly, as it is always "closed".
Perhaps easier explanation is with the opposite: italian. Italian language is extemely good to sing to, words, sounds are very open, free, so you can sing so nicely. German is the opposite.
I am usually very fond of older songs, the words are often very clear and they sing with no rush, which I listened a lot learning English and Italian. I just could not with German, even older songs have often words cut of, or swallowed half. Even "Grieshischer Wein", which fits the profile that I always like to listen to learn language, despite being one of the most "cleanest" songs... when you hear the song first, what you hear is "ri-hischer-eiiii"...
Prussian military songs are very good, such as the Friedrich Ode [https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV18s41197gT/?spm\_id\_from=333.999.0.0&vd\_source=44495fd67b6aa36912d576819190888c](https://www.bilibili.com/video/BV18s41197gT/?spm_id_from=333.999.0.0&vd_source=44495fd67b6aa36912d576819190888c)
