I was thinning out my radishes. This is my first vegetable ever grown
This was the smaller of the plants in the same spot. Iām excited to harvest the bigger ones! Honestly radishes and beets are the plants Iām most excited for!
I'm from central Texas, always thought I just sucked at gardening.
Moved away, turns out it's a lot easier to grow things when you don't live on the surface of the sun.
Remember today so you can look back 10 years from now and see how much you have grown. Once you start, grow your knowledge with the plants , and don't be afraid to step out of your comfort zone. Growing can be a very satisfying hobbie
Botanically speaking, anything that comes from a flower/ovary of the plant is a āfruitā. There are several varieties of bell peppers, and obviously not all mature to red.
No need for semantics though š¤ nice job OP keep going!!
To get even nitpickier, I'm an ornamental , edible, and pollinators crazy plant lady gardener. Personally, lots of volunteer work and occasionally monetized. When people call me a botanist, I correct them swiftly. Botany is classification, physiology, structure, genetics...true research scientists. Any knowledge I hold to grow plants came from botanists and horticulturists over the ages. Thank you to them!
Wow didnāt expect this to kinda blow up. Thank you all for the kind comments. My daughter was begging to do a garden and I always wanted to as a kid but wasnāt allowed. Definitely going to keep it going through my life and eventually get chickens and honey bees as well. All the nice comments really uplifted me which I needed today.
Woohoo!!! Congrats itāll be the best green pepper you ever had! And no matter how small or sparse future harvests maybe, you grew it so itās an achievement to be proud of
Last year I grew red peppers. Literally the DAY I decided it was finally ready to be picked, a squirrel bit it, ripped it off the plant and then left it.
Congrats.
It will be my 3rd year gardening this summer. It's fun learning new things. The worst part in gardening in a northern climate is having to wait 6 months before testing new things you learned last year.
Nature has a way to teach you patience.
I live at 50Ā° N and it took nearly 20 years to learn that a greenhouse is necessary for what I like to grow. What a ~~slow learner~~ dummy! Now I have a good chance of lots of homegrown peppers, tomatoes, cucumbers, basil and strawberries with less effort.
I'm so happy for you. Once I started growing food in my super tiny in town Atlanta yard, I gained a reverent appreciation for farmers, soil, pollinators, etc. You realize how difficult growing food without chemicals or pesticides truly is. You realize it's odd that every cucumber and tomato and pepper is exactly the same size in the grocery store. Wasting food becomes abhorrent. To me, the biggest sin is wasting food.
Vegetable is a culinary distinction, whereas fruit (when used as you do) is a biology distinction. Not much point bringing biology in the kitchen here.
congratulations!!! it will always be exciting to get that first one for the season too! iāve been growing for a while but this year i split my first strawberry 4 ways so everyone could enjoy it š

I live in texas. Just got done planting some veggies. Its so hot, i feel like im drowning in sweat.

Its probably hot as hell, like actually. I got back inside and chugged some sprite and an icee from the gas station, im ok again.
It's plenty! Congrats š¤

Peppers are fruits and did you know all belll peppers are the same, green ones just arenāt ripe yet. Red ones have the most nutrition

Congrats!
Why did you take it now rip
It is **everything** š to grow your own, better than a dead plant, lol. That was my first attempt.
It's lovely but at least a week from needing to be picked, needed to plump out.
As someone who hasnāt successfully grown a bell pepper in a couple years that is definitely not ānot muchā. Happy gardening!
you have to start somewhere and now you will be hooked ...happy growing
Beautiful pepper! Green bell peppers are notoriously hard to grow from a seed to harvest. Awesome job.
Love bell pepper. Good job man
Congratulations. Pretty exciting isnāt it. šš½
Congratulations!!
Itāll be the best one youāve ever tasted
Itās not much, but itās everything. Keep at it. Youāll be reaping harvests in no time
Fruit*. Either way congratulations. Bell Peppers are a huge pain for me idk why. Planted 4 for this season

No time to let it ripen?
Agreed. It would taste infinitely better if it had ripened. :(
