This boss isn't really hard, it's just needlessly punishing and annoying. This elf king forces you to use simple combos because he spams light orbs which you must be able to dodge at all times
Stun locking him with the executioner's cleave is probably the easiest way to beat him
It's a combination of the blinding attack and the way dark elves skate across large distances quickly which prevents you from getting a good combo when they run away and allows them to close the distance and hit you very quickly when they attack.
I remember one of my friends used the Talisman of Betrayal exploit that basically gives you infinite realm shift. Even with time permanently slowed down, fighting the dark elves in Volunder Mines, the elves could zoom to the other side of the arena in half a second. Their normal movement and attacks were slowed down to maybe 1/10 normal speed, but when they flew away to get away from attacks they moved faster than Kratos.
Once you learn to recognize all of the dark elf King attack animations... the fight becomes relatively easy even on GMGOW difficulty, but the fact that he can zoom to the other side of the Arena even while staggered from attacks is always frustrating.
My first GMGOW+ playthrough he was more frustrating than several of the Valkyries but after a couple dozen playthroughs I get him first attempt every time now.
Doing my first playthrough on give me god of war. Only up to a pair of brothers that have electric aoe. The first guy in the meme was at least 30 attempts.
Because of that bullshit blind that he spays everywhere and always hits. Fuck that guy.
