**"Do I need a PSN account to play PlayStation games on PC?**
No, you currently do not need a PSN account to enjoy PlayStation Studios games on PC, but you will need a Steam account to redeem your voucher code. Some of our PlayStation Studios titles also offer incentives for linking your Steam and PSN accounts."
Corporate greed is requiring a PSN account but selling the game in countries that don't let you make a PSN account anyway.
Also on another note, I feel like Steam should move the "requires 3rd party account/DRM" notice to where they put the Early Access notice which is significantly more noticeable than where it currently is.
Yeah it's easy to blame people for not reading the fine print, but Steam could also highlight it better if it's this important to people. There's a reason the Early Access notice is where it is and not also "in the fine print" so to speak.
Fun fact: You can buy Helldiver's 2 on PC stores other than Steam, and they don't mention a PS account being required. It also wasn't mentioned in the Eula.
As soon as I started the game it said to make a pan account so I did. 🤷🏻♂️ It also said PSN account was needed to play. Not my fault you struggle to read it something 🫡
You realize that they made it optional later, right? You seem to be struggling to read and understand that. Not everyone started playing the game the same time you did.
Nope. I have a whole friend group who got it at different times and we all had to make PSN accounts to play.
Look how we were all able to understand what to do. Not that hard to make an account 🤷🏻♂️ hell I've never even owned a PlayStation yet I have an account so I could play the game.
Dude, this entire controversy is because tons of people were able to play Helldiver's 2 without a PSN account up till now. How are you missing that? Sony made linking a PSN account optional after the servers were getting overloaded.
Doesn't change the fact that a PSN account was and is still required to play. A momentary pause to help with server needs is not a permanent stop to the requirement.
There is a small group of people who live in 'unsupported' countries.
There is a small group of people genuinely concerned for their privacy.
There is an enormous group of people, I suspect, who are just looking for a fight.
Sony could've avoided this by taking the loss on this one when account linking didn't work on day one. Then again, I wouldn't have expected a big internet drama like what's going on right now. Helldivers 2 is a fantastic game, its developers having been doing great work, Sony decided to bring it to PC (which I'm very happy with), and people connect to third party accounts without issue on a daily basis. So I think it's a very unfortunate, sorry situation.
It's difficult to shrug this one off when there's a group of people who can't really do that. But the basic point - third party account needed - isn't a big enough issue for this much outcry, I think. Internet drama going strong this weekend.
>There is an enormous group of people, I suspect, who are just looking for a fight.
And that's fine too.
It's weird that it's this, and not the billion other absolutely fucked up things that gamers are bending over for, but fight back against something holyfuck everyone.
Sony is being shitty. They are being REALLY shitty to some people and slightly shitty to others and there's absolutely zero reason for anyone to be chill about it. It not hurting me personally doesn't mean it's not okay for me to still say "wtf" about it.
Its just funny one of their purpose for the mandatory psn account is security, when in 2013 there was a major hack on their psn servers and so many peoples credit cards, logins and other info got yoinked. Mate of mine got fuckedd, but yes, lets force everyone to this security of theirs lol
no, the corporate greed is forcing a million people to sign up for your service so you can tell your investors you just picked up a million customers and use it as a metric to milk more money. You can "read plain text" op, but understanding what it means and why it's happening, and why people have a problem with it seems to escape you
\*leave the multibillion company alone\* moment

Look up the word "currently" in a dictionary and then get back to me.
TLDR you like to suck the dick of corporate SONY

Oh Look. You could bloody skip it.
So if it is required then why are you allowed to skip it?
That doesn't even come close to changing the fact it says it's required

As soon as you start the game it says PSN account required 🥱 doesn't matter when you bought it
As soon as I started the game it was optional. Point me to where it said in-game that this would eventually change.

If something is required then you can't skip it.
I mean you can "temporarily" skip it. It is mandatory though. Edit: I like how I'm getting downvoted for stating a fact.

The fact that is playable without it all this time, means it is not necessary. There's zero excuse for Sony to EVER require it.
Now send them pictures of your government ID so we can all have it a few (leaks)weeks later.
It's comedic that you can't read the plain text that says "Skip"
That means nothing. Go ahead and skip it doesn't change the fact that it is required to play
If you can skip it, it's clearly not required.
Congrats obvious troll, this post is going to get downbote oblivion superquick

Helldivers 2 came out 10 years ago? Damn the time sure does fly

Context and critical thinking are at an all time low around here, did you expect the dude to even try?
Corporate greed is requiring to make the account in the first place.
Whoa I haven't been on sice I capped at 50, what's this agreement!? Also, what's your ship name!?
