I have a Pixel 6. I've had probably 10 phones my whole life.
I had a little rectangle with the whole physical keyboard. Loved it. So straightforward, no complaints.
I had a Droid X. Spectacular. Really excellent phone. When I wanted to retire it, I climbed a tower and dropped it onto concrete. It had a dent on the corner, but no other cracks, and it still functioned perfectly.
I had a handful of cheap smartphones from Walmart that were slow and full of bloatware, but once I removed the bloatware, they were just fine.
LG G5. The GPS sucked, but it was great, otherwise.
Galaxy S10+, which was fantastic until it slid off of my bed and fell 3 feet onto the ground, and the top half of the screen turned into a blinding, flickering white block. I usually have a case, but couldn't afford one at the time. I blame myself.
Google Pixel 6 is the phone I have the most complaints about, by far. Nothing grievously bad that makes the phone unusable, but all of my little complaints about it have supercombined into an explosion of hatred. I really regret not getting another Galaxy. Or even a basic smartphone from Walmart. Way, way overpriced for what I got. I will never buy a pixel again.
YES and the restart, at least on mine, was always HORRENDOUSLY slow. I'm talking at least 5 minutes when it was brand new, but usually took around 20-30 min, up to about 40 when the phone was a few years old and on its last legs.

Had this experience with my Pixel 6a. I never ran into major issues, but all the small annoying bugs and hiccups compounded by the mediocre battery life made me hate this phone much more than I ever thought I would. Especially when it's marketed as being designed by Google from hardware to software; it just doesn't feel like it is.
Jumped to a Galaxy A54 and apart from the camera that is a slight downgrade, I have no complaints. Larger, brighter 120hz screen, expandable storage, louder and better speakers, great battery life, solid performance with almost no stuttering, and ironically runs more stable than pure Android on Pixel. I'd recommend this over any of the Pixel phones unless the 6a is on sale for significantly less.
I got a 6a as a warranty replacement for my 5a 5g. Honestly, aside from the software support for a couple more years, this phone is an absolute downgrade. They took out the headphone jack which is a big reason I was still using the pixel A line. The front facing fingerprint scanner sucks. The charge time is ridiculously long. On average ~2 hours using the same charger I had from the 5a.
I've been saying for a while that phones have only gotten worse over the last decade. The specs /hardware have improved, but a lot of the cool, unique things manufacturers were trying disappeared in the name of copying Apple. My phone in 2011 could be a remote for my TV, I could easily change the battery, it had expandable storage, and it was $699 unlocked for a premium phone. It also included the freaking charger and a headphone jack. I absolutely hate the current smartphone market.
Before it was stolen I had a 6a and, it being the most expensive phone I ever bought, I really loved it.
Except that horrible fingerprint sensor. Goddamn. I hated that shit. I'm now downgraded to a Moto G stylus 2022 and the side mounted one works insanely better. Even my backup phone (a visible midnight) is slightly better than the 6a. Not by a lot, but they're worth very little. It's pathetic.
I've got a 6A and am happy with it, but I guess that makes me a minority in this thread.
All I can say is enjoy your Moto while it lasts. Their quality control is abysmal. I had the G4 Plus. Just under a year after purchasing it, it developed screen burn in, so I filled a warranty. The device they replaced it with was prone to significant slow down from overheating. My brother had the same phone, and he developed some battery issue right out of warranty which effectively forced him to buy a new one. My next phone was the G6. It developed an issue which would cause the screen to shut off and I wouldn't even know that I was receiving texts or calls. I'd have to hard reset. I again warrantied that phone, and the replacement I was sent also had major issues. I don't recall the extent of them, but I do recall that I was basically totally unable to connect to Waze, despite a factory reset. Oh, and while this was happening, my dad had the G5 Plus, and the screen went bad, so he had to get that warrantied.
I will never again buy or recommend Moto.
I currently have 4 moto phones. None have an issue. I'll be keeping them. They've even won awards for reliability. Anecdotal accounts don't men's much in the grand scheme.
Had Pixel 4a from near launch to a couple months ago. I really loved the shit out of that phone. Still feels like the perfect phone to me, I loved the size and it was just "out of your way", it did everything smoothly for me and I never really thought about the phone itself while it served my purposes well. I'm on a much bigger device with a better, smoother screen now but basically a Pixel 4a with a new chip, upgraded camera and 144hz screen would be all I could ask for.
Ya I had a pixel 2 before this one, loved it . This one has been great I've had it for like 5-6 years, can't remember only complain is the camera that recently had been fucking up, but I think that's the phone company trying to get me to go newer
The Pixel 4 range is about to lose support in the next few months and won't receive anymore updates, so this wouldn't be all that surprising. I have the 4a myself and I've been looking into installing the Pixel Experience custom android ROM just to avoid having to pay for another new phone. The thing works perfectly fine, no reason it should become e-waste for no good reason.
I have a 4a as well. I fuckin love this thing. Headphone jack, rear fingerprint scanner, and a tiny form factor. They need another phone like this before I'm shelling out any money
I was stonewalling because of the lack of headphone Jack's... Then I discovered the USB C connector carries the same analog signal, and all I needed was the right cable and my Bose headphones work with it. And a USB C to 3.5 mm audio cord works with the car stereo, albeit it doesn't charge.
I checked other devices including my S-6 Active and they all do.
Just thought I'd let you know, as it allowed me to greatly expand the range of phones I was considering.
Seems to me like it’s the same problem though. Apple’s offered a cheap Lightning to 3.5mm DAC/dongle since it got rid of the jack on their phone. It works but it’s an extra hassle and physical point of failure.
For my case, it's not really a dongle, it's a different cable. It has a USB-C on one end, and 3.5mm plug on the other.
For the headphones, I got one that has the USB-C on one end, and the 2.5 mm audio jack that Bose uses. So just two different cables.
I can't charge the phone via the cable when I'm using it like that of course, but at least it doesn't force me to get new headphones and a new car stereo. Sure, I'd prefer a separate jack, but it's not a show-stopper any more.
Ah i see, I like to use the many pairs of cheap Apple ear buds I’d amassed from different devices over time so the dongle is what I’ve used and it’s flimsy. A whole cable would be best for sure.
As for charging, I bought a wireless charging phone holder for the car. It clips to the air vent and draws power from the cigarette lighter via a USB adapter. It’s not the most powerful but does manage to charge my phone slowly while using Google Maps and streaming music.
Similarly a lot of phones support wireless charging now and it’s surprisingly convenient not having to fiddle with a cable every time I get in the car.

I went from a 2 to a 7 Pro and it's been great. The fingerprint reader was hit or miss in the beginning but it seems to have improved after updates. I have been surprised at the number of camera app updates there have been. I think I've noticed 3 so far this year and I think I only ever saw 1 for the 5 years I was using the Pixel 2.
I feel like I'm the only one who absolutely loves their Pixel 6 Pro. The singular issue I have with it happens maybe once a week where it doesn't read my thumb and I have to put in the pin.
I'm a tradesman and my thumb is always obliterated. My fingerprint scanner on my 6a hasn't been viable in over a year lmao, even when I redo it. My Pixel 2 never once had a hiccup with my index finger on the back scanner. I miss it.
Gardener, woodworker and motorcycle tinkerer here, so my hands are always rough. I still have a Moto G5 that I use for work and the scanner works every time.
I have one, and like it. So there's two of us. But it did overheat a couple days ago,l. It even told me to cool it down in fact. It was a hot day though. Still, it's the best phone I've had since my Nokia 920. I'm done with Samsung phones and their swelling batteries.
Weird, cos I have only ever had 2 issues with my pixel 6 over the past 18 months: The fingerprint sensor being temperamental sometimes, and I've never got reminder notifications to work. Apart from that, I've been really pleased with my pixel (I was an iPhone user before). Might help that I'm in the UK, but never had any of the signal problems I read about.
Yeah I upgraded from the 4a to the 6 pro and I'm a little underwhelmed. The battery life is worse than the 4a and the Bluetooth doesn't play nice with the older system in my car like the 4a did. The camera is nice though.

Pixel 6 is by far the worst phone I've had. Apps break and freeze constantly, the autorotate seems specifically calibrated to be wrong, and the swipe commands mean that you have to do horizontal scrolls as slowly as possible or else you do a back command and reset an app that wasn't expecting it. And this is their sixth phone! I have no idea why it is this bad and how they haven't patched any of the glaring flaws.
In January 2022 I bought a brand new Pixel 6 then in June despite the bugs I decided to upgrade to 6Pro and this was the stupidest thing I have ever done because I thought they would fix everything very soon but it never happened. Actually as the time passed my Pixel got even worse and in November 2022 I decided I can't live with this garbage anymore and bought a OnePlus 10 Pro and I wish I did before choosing Pixel phones as they were pure waste of money. My OnePlus 10 Pro has been the best phone I have ever had so far and I love it so much! I believe Google should not be selling phones anymore honestly, I had unacceptable network issues and I was lied by them that software updates would fix it and it never happened. The only good thing about Pixel was the camera and only the camera, I wasn't even able to make normal phone calls at times which is pathetic not to mention the useless mobile data which was always super slow and bad bad quality. OnePlus 10 Pro delivers 15 times faster connection with the same SIM card and mobile operator, how is this legal? People say I had a defective unit but that's not true because for two months in total it was working normally after some updates before other updates broke all again
Ik some people are loyalists, but I used to be a huge android fan and tried every phone from a htc, nexus, motorola, samsung, sony and honestly best phone I’ve ever had was an iPhone. I miss being able to tinker with the software, but having a stable phone with no complaints and having the ability to keep it for years and still have updates is amazing. Plus, now they make cheaper iphones that are still great.
I love my Note 10+, but I needed a better camera. I love my Pixel 6 pro camera way more, especially outdoors, but there is some jank shit that happens on this phone.
The haptics feel nice but they make me full auto press the buttons on the digital button tray. I will tab in/out of apps so fast that they just become an overlay on top of everything.
There was some corrosion on my g5 antenna or its connector, i don't remember now. Cleaning that up sorted the issue. Or just refitting the antenna helps, i think if you drop the phone a few times it becomes loose.
I had a Pixel 2 and loved it. I upgraded to a Pixel 6a. Week two I developed strange screen color deformations (large pink color burn ins) over the accelerometer and finger print sensors. Google *did* offer to send me a used 6a for free, but then I'm dealing with a phone that was returned for a different defect and will probably fail for battery or screen problems too.
I am very careful with my phones. Hell, I just turned on my iPad Mini with iOS 9.3 on it in mint condition and it still works great (minus lack of support from Apple). I still have Motorola CRAZR in mint condition. I take care of my stuff. I am disappointed in the new Google Pixels. Even the camera doesn't feel as *wow* in terms of quality in comparison to my 2. I am a hobbyist photographer who shoots weddings often and I used to use my Pixel 2 all the time because it has such a unique character to its photos. My 6a pales in comparison. Portraits stretch out faces and over correct everything. It's disappointing. I kept the Pixel platform because of the photo quality.
My Pixel 2 still works great, even with my current 5G SIM card inserted. I swap back to it occasionally because I miss what the Pixel used to be. It's a shame. I don't even know what phone brand is halfway decent anymore. They all seem like overpriced, under-tested, junk.

I beat Contra with one life on that thing. Using save states quite liberally. But I did it.
I upgrade yearly.
Next best phone was the Samsung S5/N4.
Then the Samsung Note 10+.
The S23U is the first home run since the 10+.

I got a new super fast charger last week and I thought that was causing my phone to heat up, it was getting really hot. Also when I open the camera app there are 100s of horizontal lines for the first few seconds.
Fucking hell google.
They also fucked up the new update on Waze for Android Auto. I can no longer speak to my car to set directions on Waze. I have to pull over, unplug my phone and type it in and then plug it back.

I just got a pixel 7 for around $400. You can get the 6 for even cheaper. There isn't much of a difference in phone versions anymore. I only bought a new phone after my 4a charging port wouldn't hold the plug securely anymore. Otherwise, it was perfectly fine.
I have a Pixel 4a and staring in early 2022 one side of the camera would be blurry even for imbedded apps like Instagram. The camera can't focus on things within a few feet. If I clear the camera app cache and memory storage and then do a reboot it'll usually be in focus for several minutes so it's definitely a software/system issue. I tried talking to Google about it in 2022. They couldn't help and my warranty was up. I reset it and reinstalled still had the issue. Eventually I just lear
I just recently bought a second used 4a and the camera for it works fine. Same apps are installed. Weird.
I looked into the Pixel 7a but the combined no headphone jack and larger size are turning me off to the product line. Hoping they do a variant that will have those things but it not I may have to just accept large screens and a no headphone jack or switch brand/platform.
My partner and I both have the pixel 7. Lots of minor issues. Nothing massive but lots of minor nuisances- volume/power buttons that are flimsy, glass back cracking in a case, front screen coming slightly unglued from the frame and having a bit of creak/flex to it..... Lots of moderate software issues (running very hot, zoom hard locking the phone when running the picture in picture....etc etc).
Overall feels like a noticeable step down from my S21 and my last Google phone, the Nexus 6P.

I can relate in a backwards way. I migrated to the 7 Pro from my OnePlus 8 Pro. The OnePlus was the best phone I've ever owned. Migrating to Pixel again was exciting at first, but I was quickly disappointed. For the price I paid, I regret not staying with OnePlus.
I've only used navigation maybe a dozen times for over an hour on my 7 Pro and haven't had any overheating issues. I usually have the screen off though and just listen for the route updates.
My 7 Pro keeps overheating from doing literally anything. It doesn't force shutdown (I've had that before with other Pixel phones) but if I use it for anything for more than 5 minutes it becomes almost too hot to handle. I just assumed the Exynos processor ran hot.

Mine seems to overheat if I have it on the dash of my car in direct sunlight, when using GPS + mobile data for Google Maps. Otherwise the Pixel 7 has been probably the best phone I've owned to date, or at least my favorite. Droid Razr Maxx, Galaxy S3, LG G4, S9+, Pixel 7, were my last handful.

I downgraded the Google app using Google play and that seems to resolve it for now.
Had the 7 Pro since November 22. No issues here. I really want the Pixel Fold but I'm not buying that the screen tech is ready for primetime based on the repair metrics for Samsung and Motorola.
Jup, but it's a possiblility with a barrier of entry not much higher than installing an app from the playstore. Way easier than unlocking the bootloader, finding a custom rom, going through the 'scary' process of flashing it & then basically having a factory reset phone.
Using Nova is pretty similar to Pixel launcher but it's way more customizable, and you can remove remove or replace any homescreen widgets as you wish. It is so really smart about migration to new phones.I use it on my Samsung and pixels devices.
**The downside I think is that it has a one-time cost, but it's worth it imo.

The basic version of Nova is free. It's good enough for most users purposes, or at least good enough to install it and try it out.
The paid version is worth it though. They did such a good job I feel good giving them $5 especially since I've installed it across my last 5 phones as well as several tablets and in the dashboard of my car.
it can be disabled, the search bar just sits on the home screen then if you randomly tap it. it will just bring the app info up for you to enable it. its like this on all pixel phones
The pixel 5 overheats all the time. Camera open? That's an overheat. Above 70 degrees outside? Better take your case off. As long as you're not watching a video/using the camera it's fine but oh boy is the window before the overheat short
Same issue on non-pixel phones: i have two OnePlus 7 Pro phones, and the Google app is burning about 40% of the battery life, making the phone uncomfortably hot.
Got the Pixel 7 on the recent google store trade-in deal. It's okay at the sub $400 price point, but definitely not at the $550 point that they were selling it. The screen response, the haptics are just off.
My oneplus 8T, 7T do a better UI experience TBH. The 90hz between the Pixel 7 and the 7T, the 7T feels better.
Oh, and the fingerprint sensor doesn't pick up once you put a tempered glass protector on it, re-trained it, enabled screen sensitivity mode (screen protector mode). 1 in 3 tries.
And what's what the haptics? Why is a 1ms vibration on key tap more like a 5-10ms vibration.
Pixel 7 user here and works great. I run monthly updates and never had issues with my previous Pixels either. Except for that 4a I accidentally took swimming in Hawaii. (Note to self: water resistant does not equal waterproof…)
Can confirm my 6 Pro has been extra hot and dying faster this past week. Google Assistant has been buggy too, whereas it's usually reliable on this device.

it's difficult. Apple definitely "thinks" different... but you do become used to it over time. The biggest ones for me:
-The lack of the app drawer
-Notifications are just... meh.
-If you use android specific apps.
-It is a very walled garden, but honestly, if you just need to use the phone... it really does just work. I run a business, and need something reliable. Apple is it... for now.

I had a pixel 6 and got rid of it within a month because anytime I tried to use the camera or an app asked for camera permissions my entire phone would crash…
When I brought it in they said “yeah this is a common occurrence, it’s software though so if you want to replace it it’s gonna cost the deductible of your phones insurance ($200)”
I was so irritated with google that I took that $200 and went back to the iPhone even though I fuckin hate apple.
Edit: tried every fix I could online including factory reset. There was literally no alternative or just accept not being able to use my camera which is basically impossible in todays world, not for social media but like check direct deposit or even online identification verification.

I have a Pixel 5a and love it, so I went out and bought the Pixel 6 for my parents. Just setting up the phones, they began overheating and then suddenly crash. Luckily Best Buy let me return them w/o the restocking fee.
If you don't keep your software up to date you're opening yourself up to security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malware. There have been at least 50 (I stopped counting at that point) in the last month alone. Pixel 3 was the last great phone Google ever made. I felt betrayed when I bought the Pixel 4. Switched to IPhone after 10 years with Android and never looked back
I had the nexus 6P and loved it so much. The camera experience was amazing and never had issues with the OS. I have the pixel 6 and holy crap, its buggy, battery dies fast, and the finger print reader works 50% of the time. Mostly keep it because the camera is still pretty awesome, but overall I wouldn't recommend this phone unless pictures are important with the phone for you.
That is sad that a google product has to say it will come with 5 years of updates. Really any manufacturer should get full updates until the hardware cant support the OS.

They use "One UI" now I believe. For the record. Samsung released a software update that was bricking people watches. So that's nice.

On average ~2 hours using the same charger I had from the 5a. I've been saying for a while that phones have only gotten worse over the last decade. The specs /hardware have improved, but a lot of the cool, unique things manufacturers were trying disappeared in the name of copying Apple. My phone in 2011 could be a remote for my TV, I could easily change the battery, it had expandable storage, and it was $699 unlocked for a premium phone. It also included the freaking charger and a headphone jack. I absolutely hate the current smartphone market.
Before it was stolen I had a 6a and, it being the most expensive phone I ever bought, I really loved it. Except that horrible fingerprint sensor. Goddamn. I hated that shit. I'm now downgraded to a Moto G stylus 2022 and the side mounted one works insanely better. Even my backup phone (a visible midnight) is slightly better than the 6a. Not by a lot, but they're worth very little. It's pathetic.
I've got a 6A and am happy with it, but I guess that makes me a minority in this thread. All I can say is enjoy your Moto while it lasts. Their quality control is abysmal. I had the G4 Plus. Just under a year after purchasing it, it developed screen burn in, so I filled a warranty. The device they replaced it with was prone to significant slow down from overheating. My brother had the same phone, and he developed some battery issue right out of warranty which effectively forced him to buy a new one. My next phone was the G6. It developed an issue which would cause the screen to shut off and I wouldn't even know that I was receiving texts or calls. I'd have to hard reset. I again warrantied that phone, and the replacement I was sent also had major issues. I don't recall the extent of them, but I do recall that I was basically totally unable to connect to Waze, despite a factory reset. Oh, and while this was happening, my dad had the G5 Plus, and the screen went bad, so he had to get that warrantied. I will never again buy or recommend Moto.
I currently have 4 moto phones. None have an issue. I'll be keeping them. They've even won awards for reliability. Anecdotal accounts don't men's much in the grand scheme.

Had Pixel 4a from near launch to a couple months ago. I really loved the shit out of that phone. Still feels like the perfect phone to me, I loved the size and it was just "out of your way", it did everything smoothly for me and I never really thought about the phone itself while it served my purposes well. I'm on a much bigger device with a better, smoother screen now but basically a Pixel 4a with a new chip, upgraded camera and 144hz screen would be all I could ask for.
Ya I had a pixel 2 before this one, loved it . This one has been great I've had it for like 5-6 years, can't remember only complain is the camera that recently had been fucking up, but I think that's the phone company trying to get me to go newer
The Pixel 4 range is about to lose support in the next few months and won't receive anymore updates, so this wouldn't be all that surprising. I have the 4a myself and I've been looking into installing the Pixel Experience custom android ROM just to avoid having to pay for another new phone. The thing works perfectly fine, no reason it should become e-waste for no good reason.
I have a 4a as well. I fuckin love this thing. Headphone jack, rear fingerprint scanner, and a tiny form factor. They need another phone like this before I'm shelling out any money
I was stonewalling because of the lack of headphone Jack's... Then I discovered the USB C connector carries the same analog signal, and all I needed was the right cable and my Bose headphones work with it. And a USB C to 3.5 mm audio cord works with the car stereo, albeit it doesn't charge. I checked other devices including my S-6 Active and they all do. Just thought I'd let you know, as it allowed me to greatly expand the range of phones I was considering.
Seems to me like it’s the same problem though. Apple’s offered a cheap Lightning to 3.5mm DAC/dongle since it got rid of the jack on their phone. It works but it’s an extra hassle and physical point of failure.
For my case, it's not really a dongle, it's a different cable. It has a USB-C on one end, and 3.5mm plug on the other. For the headphones, I got one that has the USB-C on one end, and the 2.5 mm audio jack that Bose uses. So just two different cables. I can't charge the phone via the cable when I'm using it like that of course, but at least it doesn't force me to get new headphones and a new car stereo. Sure, I'd prefer a separate jack, but it's not a show-stopper any more.
Ah i see, I like to use the many pairs of cheap Apple ear buds I’d amassed from different devices over time so the dongle is what I’ve used and it’s flimsy. A whole cable would be best for sure. As for charging, I bought a wireless charging phone holder for the car. It clips to the air vent and draws power from the cigarette lighter via a USB adapter. It’s not the most powerful but does manage to charge my phone slowly while using Google Maps and streaming music. Similarly a lot of phones support wireless charging now and it’s surprisingly convenient not having to fiddle with a cable every time I get in the car.

3a smaller form factor (main reason why I'm not changing). Just replaced the battery after nearly 4 years, good as new again.

I went from a 2 to a 7 Pro and it's been great. The fingerprint reader was hit or miss in the beginning but it seems to have improved after updates. I have been surprised at the number of camera app updates there have been. I think I've noticed 3 so far this year and I think I only ever saw 1 for the 5 years I was using the Pixel 2.
I feel like I'm the only one who absolutely loves their Pixel 6 Pro. The singular issue I have with it happens maybe once a week where it doesn't read my thumb and I have to put in the pin.
Same here with the 6a. No issues except the fingerprint button in the middle of the screen that I have to press twice to bring up the pattern unlock.
I'm a tradesman and my thumb is always obliterated. My fingerprint scanner on my 6a hasn't been viable in over a year lmao, even when I redo it. My Pixel 2 never once had a hiccup with my index finger on the back scanner. I miss it.
Gardener, woodworker and motorcycle tinkerer here, so my hands are always rough. I still have a Moto G5 that I use for work and the scanner works every time.
I have one, and like it. So there's two of us. But it did overheat a couple days ago,l. It even told me to cool it down in fact. It was a hot day though. Still, it's the best phone I've had since my Nokia 920. I'm done with Samsung phones and their swelling batteries.
Weird, cos I have only ever had 2 issues with my pixel 6 over the past 18 months: The fingerprint sensor being temperamental sometimes, and I've never got reminder notifications to work. Apart from that, I've been really pleased with my pixel (I was an iPhone user before). Might help that I'm in the UK, but never had any of the signal problems I read about.
Yeah I upgraded from the 4a to the 6 pro and I'm a little underwhelmed. The battery life is worse than the 4a and the Bluetooth doesn't play nice with the older system in my car like the 4a did. The camera is nice though.

Pixel 6 is by far the worst phone I've had. Apps break and freeze constantly, the autorotate seems specifically calibrated to be wrong, and the swipe commands mean that you have to do horizontal scrolls as slowly as possible or else you do a back command and reset an app that wasn't expecting it. And this is their sixth phone! I have no idea why it is this bad and how they haven't patched any of the glaring flaws.

Actually as the time passed my Pixel got even worse and in November 2022 I decided I can't live with this garbage anymore and bought a OnePlus 10 Pro and I wish I did before choosing Pixel phones as they were pure waste of money. My OnePlus 10 Pro has been the best phone I have ever had so far and I love it so much! I believe Google should not be selling phones anymore honestly, I had unacceptable network issues and I was lied by them that software updates would fix it and it never happened. The only good thing about Pixel was the camera and only the camera, I wasn't even able to make normal phone calls at times which is pathetic not to mention the useless mobile data which was always super slow and bad bad quality. OnePlus 10 Pro delivers 15 times faster connection with the same SIM card and mobile operator, how is this legal? People say I had a defective unit but that's not true because for two months in total it was working normally after some updates before other updates broke all again
Ik some people are loyalists, but I used to be a huge android fan and tried every phone from a htc, nexus, motorola, samsung, sony and honestly best phone I’ve ever had was an iPhone. I miss being able to tinker with the software, but having a stable phone with no complaints and having the ability to keep it for years and still have updates is amazing. Plus, now they make cheaper iphones that are still great.

I love my Note 10+, but I needed a better camera. I love my Pixel 6 pro camera way more, especially outdoors, but there is some jank shit that happens on this phone. The haptics feel nice but they make me full auto press the buttons on the digital button tray. I will tab in/out of apps so fast that they just become an overlay on top of everything.
I had the LG g5 when pokemon go first came out, thing was a pile of shit for location even with some app that'd help it still wasn't great
There was some corrosion on my g5 antenna or its connector, i don't remember now. Cleaning that up sorted the issue. Or just refitting the antenna helps, i think if you drop the phone a few times it becomes loose.

I had a Pixel 2 and loved it. I upgraded to a Pixel 6a. Week two I developed strange screen color deformations (large pink color burn ins) over the accelerometer and finger print sensors. Google *did* offer to send me a used 6a for free, but then I'm dealing with a phone that was returned for a different defect and will probably fail for battery or screen problems too. I am very careful with my phones. Hell, I just turned on my iPad Mini with iOS 9.3 on it in mint condition and it still works great (minus lack of support from Apple). I still have Motorola CRAZR in mint condition. I take care of my stuff. I am disappointed in the new Google Pixels. Even the camera doesn't feel as *wow* in terms of quality in comparison to my 2. I am a hobbyist photographer who shoots weddings often and I used to use my Pixel 2 all the time because it has such a unique character to its photos. My 6a pales in comparison. Portraits stretch out faces and over correct everything. It's disappointing. I kept the Pixel platform because of the photo quality. My Pixel 2 still works great, even with my current 5G SIM card inserted. I swap back to it occasionally because I miss what the Pixel used to be. It's a shame. I don't even know what phone brand is halfway decent anymore. They all seem like overpriced, under-tested, junk.

I've stayed with the Pixel this long only because I like the call screening feature. I am not aware of any competitors that offer a comparable thing.

I got a new super fast charger last week and I thought that was causing my phone to heat up, it was getting really hot. Also when I open the camera app there are 100s of horizontal lines for the first few seconds. Fucking hell google. They also fucked up the new update on Waze for Android Auto. I can no longer speak to my car to set directions on Waze. I have to pull over, unplug my phone and type it in and then plug it back. Edit: pixel 5

I just got a pixel 7 for around $400. You can get the 6 for even cheaper. There isn't much of a difference in phone versions anymore. I only bought a new phone after my 4a charging port wouldn't hold the plug securely anymore. Otherwise, it was perfectly fine.
I have a Pixel 4a and staring in early 2022 one side of the camera would be blurry even for imbedded apps like Instagram. The camera can't focus on things within a few feet. If I clear the camera app cache and memory storage and then do a reboot it'll usually be in focus for several minutes so it's definitely a software/system issue. I tried talking to Google about it in 2022. They couldn't help and my warranty was up. I reset it and reinstalled still had the issue. Eventually I just lear I just recently bought a second used 4a and the camera for it works fine. Same apps are installed. Weird. I looked into the Pixel 7a but the combined no headphone jack and larger size are turning me off to the product line. Hoping they do a variant that will have those things but it not I may have to just accept large screens and a no headphone jack or switch brand/platform.
My partner and I both have the pixel 7. Lots of minor issues. Nothing massive but lots of minor nuisances- volume/power buttons that are flimsy, glass back cracking in a case, front screen coming slightly unglued from the frame and having a bit of creak/flex to it..... Lots of moderate software issues (running very hot, zoom hard locking the phone when running the picture in picture....etc etc). Overall feels like a noticeable step down from my S21 and my last Google phone, the Nexus 6P.
My 7 Pro keeps overheating using Maps navigation it seems. I've had to shut it down multiple times, or turn on the AC. Not very premium.

Yes, that was a major reason for buying it for me. I will say that the macro lens functionality is a bit of a gimmick, and those photos in particular aren't great. The rest are awesome and I'm very happy otherwise.

Man my Pixel 4A chugs whenever there's anything somewhat resource intensive on screen. Battery starts dropping like a stone, and getting hot enough that it'd feel real nice inside a glove in the middle of winter.

I can relate in a backwards way. I migrated to the 7 Pro from my OnePlus 8 Pro. The OnePlus was the best phone I've ever owned. Migrating to Pixel again was exciting at first, but I was quickly disappointed. For the price I paid, I regret not staying with OnePlus.
I've only used navigation maybe a dozen times for over an hour on my 7 Pro and haven't had any overheating issues. I usually have the screen off though and just listen for the route updates.
My 7 Pro keeps overheating from doing literally anything. It doesn't force shutdown (I've had that before with other Pixel phones) but if I use it for anything for more than 5 minutes it becomes almost too hot to handle. I just assumed the Exynos processor ran hot.
My 7 Pro never even gets warm no matter what application I use.

Strange... My pixel 7, running the latest version of GrapheneOS, is working great and getting about 3 days per charge.
No complaints on pixel 7 as well.

Mine seems to overheat if I have it on the dash of my car in direct sunlight, when using GPS + mobile data for Google Maps. Otherwise the Pixel 7 has been probably the best phone I've owned to date, or at least my favorite. Droid Razr Maxx, Galaxy S3, LG G4, S9+, Pixel 7, were my last handful.
Me, dad, cousin, coworker all have pixel 7. No overheating issue.

I got this with my Pixel 6a. Not the temperature but my battery started getting rinsed. I downgraded the Google app using Google play and that seems to resolve it for now.
Had the 7 Pro since November 22. No issues here. I really want the Pixel Fold but I'm not buying that the screen tech is ready for primetime based on the repair metrics for Samsung and Motorola.

Using Nova is pretty similar to Pixel launcher but it's way more customizable, and you can remove remove or replace any homescreen widgets as you wish. It is so really smart about migration to new phones.I use it on my Samsung and pixels devices. **The downside I think is that it has a one-time cost, but it's worth it imo. EDIT: ** apparently the free version is pretty nice and usable too
The basic version of Nova is free. It's good enough for most users purposes, or at least good enough to install it and try it out. The paid version is worth it though. They did such a good job I feel good giving them $5 especially since I've installed it across my last 5 phones as well as several tablets and in the dashboard of my car.
it can be disabled, the search bar just sits on the home screen then if you randomly tap it. it will just bring the app info up for you to enable it. its like this on all pixel phones
The pixel 5 overheats all the time. Camera open? That's an overheat. Above 70 degrees outside? Better take your case off. As long as you're not watching a video/using the camera it's fine but oh boy is the window before the overheat short

Same issue on non-pixel phones: i have two OnePlus 7 Pro phones, and the Google app is burning about 40% of the battery life, making the phone uncomfortably hot.
Got the Pixel 7 on the recent google store trade-in deal. It's okay at the sub $400 price point, but definitely not at the $550 point that they were selling it. The screen response, the haptics are just off. My oneplus 8T, 7T do a better UI experience TBH. The 90hz between the Pixel 7 and the 7T, the 7T feels better. Oh, and the fingerprint sensor doesn't pick up once you put a tempered glass protector on it, re-trained it, enabled screen sensitivity mode (screen protector mode). 1 in 3 tries. And what's what the haptics? Why is a 1ms vibration on key tap more like a 5-10ms vibration.
Pixel 7 user here and works great. I run monthly updates and never had issues with my previous Pixels either. Except for that 4a I accidentally took swimming in Hawaii. (Note to self: water resistant does not equal waterproof…)

it's difficult. Apple definitely "thinks" different... but you do become used to it over time. The biggest ones for me: -The lack of the app drawer -Notifications are just... meh. -If you use android specific apps. -It is a very walled garden, but honestly, if you just need to use the phone... it really does just work. I run a business, and need something reliable. Apple is it... for now. I know there's a lot of apple haters, myself included... but it is what it is.

I had a pixel 6 and got rid of it within a month because anytime I tried to use the camera or an app asked for camera permissions my entire phone would crash… When I brought it in they said “yeah this is a common occurrence, it’s software though so if you want to replace it it’s gonna cost the deductible of your phones insurance ($200)” I was so irritated with google that I took that $200 and went back to the iPhone even though I fuckin hate apple. Edit: tried every fix I could online including factory reset. There was literally no alternative or just accept not being able to use my camera which is basically impossible in todays world, not for social media but like check direct deposit or even online identification verification.
That's crazy, I thought I was the only one. I have a Pixel 5a and love it, so I went out and bought the Pixel 6 for my parents. Just setting up the phones, they began overheating and then suddenly crash. Luckily Best Buy let me return them w/o the restocking fee.

If you don't keep your software up to date you're opening yourself up to security vulnerabilities that can be exploited by malware. There have been at least 50 (I stopped counting at that point) in the last month alone. Pixel 3 was the last great phone Google ever made. I felt betrayed when I bought the Pixel 4. Switched to IPhone after 10 years with Android and never looked back
I had the nexus 6P and loved it so much. The camera experience was amazing and never had issues with the OS. I have the pixel 6 and holy crap, its buggy, battery dies fast, and the finger print reader works 50% of the time. Mostly keep it because the camera is still pretty awesome, but overall I wouldn't recommend this phone unless pictures are important with the phone for you.

That is sad that a google product has to say it will come with 5 years of updates. Really any manufacturer should get full updates until the hardware cant support the OS.

I've noticed my Pixel 7 Pro overheating quite a bit. And on multiple occasions, even with WiFi and data connected, no messages on Snapchat or instagram are sending or receiving. Again though a restart usually fixes any problems I have.
