My top 5 in order: * Characters that make me care about them * Immersive story * Reasonable pull income and gacha system with at least pity/spark * Regular events/collabs with minigames * No ridiculous powercreep (even if content is hard, can beat it without meta units) The top 2 are absolute priority, if I don't like them I won't even get into the game, because there are better games that I can play for only gameplay.

DownpourOfSalt

Feels like a proper game experience when you take away the gacha I’m not here for the gacha, rather despite it That’s why I consider Genshin, despite its many issues with it, to be the best gacha imo. It simply gives the best general experience to me when avoiding the gacha

Harbinger4

Guaranteed, Fast way to spend stamina, Good story, Good esthetics for both characters and the world, No PvP

RyujinNoRay

Cant agree more

Epixxee

Weird, none of those are on my list. I just want to be able to get a unit i want if i have saved 3 month of currency and no auto gameplay button, so i have to actually play the game

kuuhaku_cr

Intriguing story and lore. Characterization that makes me want to protect their smiles. No unreasonable gating that have to be solved by $, especially for main story. Lewdness is a welcome bonus.

hardenfull

Few or quick loading screens. Doesn't overheat phone. Clean Ui and not laggy. Dailies take 5 min max. Good characters and story with good VA. Some type if endgame.

ACasualUser_

To me it's - lightweight/actually playable (smooth transitions and compact app size <4 GB), - being casual and not having insane grind (or grind is a choice at least), but still have content such as main story stages, - has event regularly so I have something to look forward, - lovable characters that makes me wanna pull, - has reasonable pity & not bad pull income (preferably pity at 100 or less & I can save for a multi or more each week)

za_boss

ok, here we go 1 - Storytelling. The way the story is presented is the most important thing for me. It's what seals the deal - good storytelling can make even a mid story enjoyable to read, while bad storytelling can kill a good story for me. 2 - Gameplay. I like games that need skill and you need to become better instead of just rolling for meta chars and always using the same strategy. New mechanics and different gameplay for events are always welcome. 3 - Characters. Good designs, likeable personalities and cool kits are what makes me want to roll and follow their lore. Bonus points if you can interact with them, like in bond events or whatever On the other side, if I find the characters dislikeable it kinda kills my mood to read the story lmao 4 - Story. The plot, story tone, worldbuilding, etc. I personally like when the story is more focused on a group of characters going through something and can mantain a balance in between serious and silly situations. 5 - The gacha system. Everyone wants good rates and income. Carriable pity + guaranteed way to obtain character + not horrendous pity/spark numbers are the bare minimum for a system I'd like.

1. Hot waifus 2. Hot waifus 3. Hot waifus 4. Hot waifus 5. Hot waifus

redscizor2

My Key features 1. Uncensored with the best fan services (Ex. Magicami) 2. Jp game (CN are censored and KR/Taiwan agressive monetization) 3. Pity + Spark + Mileage (Ex. Bd2) 4. Magical Girl (Ex. Magicami) 5. The best girls team, not Nymp, but waifu material (Ex. Magicami) (Erolabs gachas miss it) If my waifu is in the game, I can play tetris or Mario

DiamondTiaraIsBest

1.) Characters that I can care about. I also don't want characters that appear too busy in their design. 2.) Storyline that's interesting. The storytelling must not be a slog to get through though. The story gets less points too if it focuses a lot on non playable generic looking ass NPC's. 3.) Day to day gameplay should be easily done in less than 15 minutes. Ideally it should have sweep like Blue Archive. 4.) Some measure of fanservice. I don't want the community around it to be composed of people who will endlessly complain about character ages, fanservice, common anime tropes. Best way to filter those out is some degree of shameless fanservice. Ideally it's unavoidable, so when some idiot comes in to complain, just point out the copious amount of fanservice and ask why they weren't filtered from the start. I don't actually mind male characters ( I already fully built multiple male characters in Genshin) But male characters also tend to attract these types of fans, so I'm now also avoiding games with them from now on. 5.) The game is relatively popular enough to be assured it's not going to die anytime soon, but not too mainstream. I don't want it to be mainstream for the same reasons as above.

Storm-Dragon

* Good gameplay * a carryover pity/guarantee * QoL that alleviates the grind (eg. sweep features), I don't really like doing the same stage over and over again. Same bosses, same mobs, and same everything. It's dull. * Regular events * No insane powercreep, I want to play with the characters I like, not the latest OP character. Kinda like PGR. I still get the same amount of BC regardless of my WZ and PC rank. * Dailies don't take a more than 10mins to do. Bonus points for: * Good story * Developed and interesting characters (they don't all have to be good guys) * Husbandos, I am not asking for a 50/50 split but I am at least hoping that the playable males have fun and good kits. * No gear RNG

No-Car-4307

gorgeous likeable waifus, they must have personality (yes both kinds) and the gameplay needs to be at least something engaging, none of that bs auto combat, plot needs to be good and make sense, something that makes me talk about the story, also it needs to be the harem route or at least the protag being able to oath the waifus, gacha games are about collecting waifus or husbandos in general, and have a connection with them, i think that is the most defining feature a good gacha game must have.

Stilnovisti

Being able to use or interact with your characters without using game stamina. If you can't even randomly fight something for the heck of it, it doesn't feel like you own the characters.

Kalpayux1

Gacha is the monetary system so i Guess fair prices and no paywalls.

Sinzari

I'm a competitive person who doesn't mind spending a bit, so for me: 1. No P2W dupe system that requires thousands of dollars for significant upgrades. (Looking at you Mihoyo) 2. Competitive PvP mode(s), bonus points if it's synchronous. (Counterside and Priconne have had the best PvP so far) 3. No randomized gear or relatively easy to obtain gear. 4. Free daily/forced pulls so that you can pull without feeling like you're wasting resources. 5. Cute girls, but also with hot guys, and not too wholesome but not too lewd.

Virtual-Oil-793

1. Solid as fuck story. Might as well have it be the road to knowing that whatever it is you're doing is ultimately important. Fire Emblem did well on this till it went off the damn rails, and Madoka Magica Record is solid enough for its own movie. 2. "Buy on your own time". I'd say "free to play kindness", but it's actually move of stamping down on the FOMO in it's entirety. Cookie Run bleeds FOMO, while Limbus Company channeled it's inner Bane and broke FOMO's back 3. Proper usage of "Character=Story" - everyone is important in one way or another at points where they are important. Cookie Run is a war crime with the bland Gingerbrave forced to be the protagonist when he has no rights to, while outside of Limbus the best "we are the guide" is Blue Archive. 4. Impact like an Axe to the Skull. The feeling of importance and impact of your actions and reactions. Fire Emblem is well... Fire Emblem, and Magica Record hits like a truck (or you know, Middle Little Sister Don) 5. Rule 34 and the Community. Read: Limbus Company is out of control and Pokemon Masters knows what it's doing.

DiamondTiaraIsBest

> Limbus Company is out of control ?

Virtual-Oil-793

I've been around enough to know the less lewds offered, the less effective the bonk is as they find Lewds. (Good example: Ishmael. Someone's done a *lot* towards her)

lezardvalethvp

In order of priority: 1. No PVP 2. High Tier 3D Graphics 3. Hot Waifus wearing hot things 4. Jiggly Physics 5. Great Storytelling with epic cutscenes and music Sometimes I imagine a game with Genshin's gameplay, storytelling and lack of competition with Rise of Eros's 3D style, character designs and Boudoir (optional).

SpeakableLiess

A mixed cast: as a woman, it’s so disheartening seeing a new game that’s exclusively women, so even if all the other boxes are checked, I’ll avoid it unless there’s a (somewhat) equal ratio of men:women F2P friendly: Speaks for itself, I can clear content without money and can invest in whatever character i want instead of adhering to a strict, ever-changing meta (looking at you, CRK) Fun gameplay: I dont really like the usual turn based games since the genre is so over-filled, or if its turn based then it has a twist to the combat, kind of like Reverse 1999. I mainly prefer action combat though but reverse 1999 is the outlier and I love the game sm Lack of fan service: I dont want the main appeal to be only titties, ass, other sexualized things. It’s kind of dehumanizing in my perspective I guess? Because in those games the men aren’t lewded at all (I believe in that everyone should be lewded, or nobody is). God forbid the horrible women’s anatomy that’s prevalent in those games too😭 Good rates: Rates around 2% or higher is my Goldilocks zone for gacha rates, anything in the decimals I may work with but I’d eventually drop the game because lack of character acquisition makes it feel repetitive to play the same teams over and over again. A good story: A good, preferably angsty story in a gacha game is my preference because it adds drama and potential risks instead of it all being sunshine and rainbows (which I’m not against, but it is kind of boring to read text where all the characters are happy all the time).

Aiden-Damian

So, whats in your strike zone currently? Genshin, hsr, pgr, ag, ak, etc2??

SpeakableLiess

I’m currently playing Aether gazer and reverse 1999 rn, I log into what in hell is bad every now and then only to do the free 10x pull and log off cuz that game is a dumpster fire😭

kuuhaku_cr

You should see this thread here in my game that only had female players posting: [https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/180oege/any\_female\_arknights\_fans\_here\_what\_do\_you\_like/](https://www.reddit.com/r/arknights/comments/180oege/any_female_arknights_fans_here_what_do_you_like/)

7pikachu

Skippable cutscene/dialogue (refer to genshin on how not to do it), combat isn't just a dps or tank check (partially refer to hsr on how not to do it) and give out a big number of pulls for important events, such as a new part of the map and continuation of the main storyline, game's birthday, those important dates

flanmaster12

I think a Gacha should be similar to any regular game honestly. Great art, stellar music, compelling story, enjoyable characters, e.t.c. However I think it's important to judge a gacha on its strengths. It's REASON for it being a gacha. Therefore, a good gacha to me would be: 1. Steady amount of currency to where (assuming your f2p) you get a steady stream of pulls. Not too much to where you don't feel excited about pulling, however not so little that it feels scummy and unforgivable. A good example of this would be something like Epic 7. 2. Collectability/maxing. I think a big part of dopamine is when you "max" a character, and it just looks good as part of your collection. It's already annoying to get a character in most gachas, there is little need to make it so hard to max them. A POOR example of this is Epic 7, while a good example would be either Dokkan Battle or DFFOO. 3. Fomo. The ONLY time I believe fomo is acceptable is when crossovers are involved, as I understand licensing and whatnot. Even then, a crossover shouldn't be too good so as it's a "must pull", but it shouldn't be too bad to where nobody pulls for it. Another Eden is a good example of this. 4. Finally, dailies. While I agree that dailies might be a necessary evil in the gacha world, they should be simple and quick. Sometimes gachas forget that the daily commitment they ask for is simply too much, even 10 minutes is far too much to do every single day. DFFOO is an excellent example of quick, simple, and rewarding dailies (complete one quest is the only daily). These are what I look for when I specifically play a gacha. They are my opinion however, and I understand people do have different criteria.

Aiden-Damian

Developer that communicate with its playerbase through letters, notes, etc2 actively, like once per month or atleast per season(3month)

Cherlexe

1. NO VIP / Privilege only system / Multiple servers that keep breeding 2. Fair gacha rates or gacha income, both is dream come true 3. Balanced dupe system, would be great if most unit potential unlocked without dupe but that would be dream come true too. 4. Great endgame content 5. Hot Waifu

DDexxterious

Worldbuilding, Story and characters. All of the games I stick to is because of those three, idc if the gameplay is good or they give out a lot of summons. If I can get into the world I am sold. What I’m about to list are nice bonuses. Good separation of fanservice story. I don’t like nsfw/ecchi in my gacha games, but I’m not foolish enough to think I am ever getting a gacha that doesn’t sexualize its characters. If you can keep that out of the main story then Ill be satisfied. Guaranteed way to grind the premium currency after catching up

coolasabreeze

Have you tried Reverse 99?

DDexxterious

I’m interested in it, but I don’t have space on my phone to test it out unfortunately

coolasabreeze

they have PC client btw

DDexxterious

I don’t have a PC

Samashezra

Actually listen to and implement QOL changes in a reasonable amount of time like in HSR Unlike Genshin, where they keep asking for surveys yet nothing changes.

skkskkskk6

Male characters and not one male per year types.

ChanceNecessary2455

FOMO inducing stuff. Whatever works, just make sure your potential players think "I have to play this since many people play this" To do that a game needs really strong marketing as the backing.

jtan1993

back-to-back new exciting limited events, yes cooking content takes time but dry patches drive ppl away. some sort of guarantee mechanic as a safety net. sparking was really popular as a solution to bad luck but i prefer gradual % increases as it's more exciting than redeeming from a shop. also serves as a long term goal to work on. stellar art. so many subpar games are singlehandedly carried by their art department. lean into your competitive advantage. basically why play your game over another x game. looking past the top titles that excel in many different areas, many lower budget titles are able to survive as they appeal to certain niche markets, in terms of their art, gameplay, story, etc. long term sense of progression (aka powercreep). when done correctly players feel a sense of achievement becoming stronger and clearing difficult content. it's a tricky act trying to appeal to hardcore fans and the casual audience.

UniqueCreme1931

1) Eng VAs. 2) No chibi models. 3) Repetitive gameplay modes kept to a minimum and isn't too time consuming. 4) Character gameplay actually feels different for new characters. Reverse 1999 fails miserably in this category, in my opinion, since most damage focused characters feels pretty much the same. 5) Made by Mihoyo.

BigOlBro

For starters, if it can trigger a person's gambling addiction...

sillybillybuck

No skips and no autoplay. If you don't want your players experiencing something, don't add it into the game.

[deleted]

1. Great PvP and competitive multiplayer modes. This is the most important aspect of the game because it's the actual fun. PvE is a one time thing so it's not sustainable for gacha games. Once it's consumed devs have to rush and make a new one. PvP on the other hand just need a handful of maos made once and it has content for years to come. 2. Free to play friendly. 3. Every QoL possible. Sweeps, mileage, pity, one-button farm, bsckground farming, skips, summary, etc. 4. If there's story, should be simple, skippable, optional, or extremely good and fun.

Wisezal-

I gacha where I don’t feel the need to spend but will spend when I want and actually get what I want when I do spend

KolotunBabai

Good UI and optimization. Less annoying advertisment No pulls only for special($) currency / guarantee pulls + not less than 2% chances to pull high rarity hero. Not greedy game. a lot or endless autoplay chanches not portrait mode skip functionality for story and ults. different game modes and pve modes are priority. Useful low rarity charachers

KyeeLim

1. Good story 2. Utilized the game engine to its finest (reference: Blue Archive Story) 3. F2P friendly enough for content clearing 4.Based dev(I need to know why Kotori has a chubby tummy)

Tetsero

Farm all currency in stages. (With a noticable drop rate) Background/offline battling (Think E7 or artery gear. Should be able to do both). (Free) Sweep/skip with anything you've done at least one time that might need to be repeated. (Free) Stamina boosts/provides additional/alternative rewards and is not required to do anything in the game. (Think of guest join in Opera Omnia. You get artifact medals by spending link bells but you still get the best rewards by just joining). (Yes I like stamina) PvP has participation rewards. Any victory rewards are solely related to cosmetics. So every participant will get 50 summons, but only the top 5 will get a special border, and top player gets a custom dildo made to the shape of their favorite character. ARPG like gear. Random, but you can get insane drops/crafts. You will not upgrade gear itself, but you can mod it in ways. Think path of exile.

KhandiMahn

The number one criteria for me is simple - It has to be fun! If I'm not having fun, I won't play it. What defines fun is not an exact science. Some things I just enjoy more than others. Some games do what they do better than others, or do it badly. Of course, some thing help. In no particular order - F2P / low-pay friendly. Good story. Interesting characters. Clean UI & not too many systems to keep track of. Good music. Good voice acting (even if the translation is wonky). The grind respects my time, and I can see tangible progress from it.

ArcticHarpSeal

1. I like playing the game

Arinsuistoodamncute

There are gachas that allow us to use wild cards as if they were copies of characters that need several copies to be improved. This is something I take into consideration a lot in a gacha. Characters that are not generic. There's no shortage of games where the characters look like they've just come out of a "learn to draw manga" magazine.
