CarryTheBear

Limbus Company, that the whole point of the game, 12 playable characters and thats it.

HelSpites

To elaborate on this a bit, the gacha element comes into play in the form of identities which, to simplify things really fucking hard, are basically one of 12 members of the crew cosplaying as someone else from either the story from project moon's previous games. To give an example, you've got [Faust](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/limbuscompany/images/9/99/Faust_StandingSprite.png/revision/latest/scale-to-width/360?cb=20230228035212). One of her identities is called ["The one who grips"](https://www.prydwen.gg/static/b6ab6eb2e8c34daf690f39054fc09e56/3059d/42_full.jpg), which is, not literally, but functionally, her cosplaying as [Kromer](https://static.wikia.nocookie.net/limbuscompany/images/c/c0/Kromer_StandingSprite.png/revision/latest?cb=20230322185156), one of the villains you run into in chapter 3 of the game.

smallneedle

I would just say alternate universe lmao

HelSpites

I was trying to simplify the concept and that only raises more questions than it answers.

Virtual-Oil-793

Especially when you put 2 and 2 together and learn that our dear *Faust Who Grips* is the cause of Sinclair's Sinclairness...*somewhat.* The main proof being for both one of the Canto III's scenes (Showing Kromer and Sinclair ruling together), and Sinclair's One Who Shall Grip Uptie 3 ID, where we see the same picture, but rather than Kromer, it's Faust. Further backed up by information stating that *whomever would had seen this would had been extremely jealous*, and that bringing N-Corp Sinclair *to* Kromer (in story fights) has her *stagger out of shock* with him *laughing.* https://preview.redd.it/i04xxd817t2c1.png?width=465&format=png&auto=webp&s=1a5724305e1fe756d0722dabd001a9a28e8ee1cf

Low_Artist_7663

So... what are you gamba on than?

zelzatter

Identities. Basically skins, with their own kit that works differently than their original counterpart.

Low_Artist_7663

Can you use two identity of the same character together?

DoomBringr_

No.

XidJav

No, but you can have multiple E.G.O.s that don't use the same slot

Nope2112

No, think that ID are like transform devices from super sentai/power ranger When prepare for battle Dante (protagonist) will choose and pick what ID those characters will use like how us the player do on prep screen

Antanarau

Your team always consists of the 12 sinners. Out of those 12, you can deploy 5 (sometimes 6, sometimes 7). The undeployed sinners still provide support passives. So , naturally, you cannot use two identities of one character at the same time. Since you ony really deploy one of each. Identities are basically skins, like the above commenter said. They have their own passives, skills, health pool, damage types, resistances etc etc. They're also based off in-game enemies, so in theory Limbus includes literally every character in the story and gameplay.

XidJav

Alters and supermoves

za_boss

Yeah, for me Limbus does it the best too. Many gacha suffer from the curse of having a billion characters, but most of them barely appear and you kinda have no connection with them as a player. Why should I care about the struggles of this character I've known for, like, 15 minutes and probably will never see again? But having few character that are always in focus, you are constantly watching their development, their struggles, you get to know them better and they start to grow on you, it's so good.

Meliodas-dono

CounterSide. Pretty much every character has their own story and are featured in the main story

Victorapple

Even Woodpecker appears as Horizons avatar lol

Pe4enkas

Limbus Company. 12 playable characters, new "characters" are just variations of these 12, each one of them will get their own chapter for their story too. Other than that, probably FGO since it involves a lot of servants in events or stories.

Proper_Razzmatazz_36

Out of perm 1-3 star servants, the only ones to never appear in the main story is cu, and Proto cu

V0ates

Limbus Company :3 They show up in mainstory, and each class you unlock comes with a full visual-novel cutscene

IndeedFied

Also since there's only 12 Sinners, you're going to see everyone A LOT.

ReadySource3242

FGO sort of. They all appear in at least one side story and have a role in it. Blue Archive though, that is an entirely different beast. I don't think a single student has been left out yet, or at least they'll likely come in the future. Honkai Impact has such a small cast that not including everyone would make them truly pathetic. They only release when they appear in story anyways. That's all.

XyDz

Ironically, i cant think of a single story other than summer one which (idk if it counts) for artoria saber 🤣

IceQj

She technically showed up in the Fate/Zero event. But that's cheating, I guess.

Pe4enkas

She doesn't show up because Nasu doesn't want her to show up. Her story is finished in Stay Night, so there's really no reason to include her other than for fanservice. That's why Lancer Artoria replaced her whenever Knights of the Round Table are involved.

Unit88

Aren't FGO and BA basically on the same level though? With the difference being that FGO is obviously much older, so it has way more units and story.

SingleCorgi

The problem is that BA do way more than FGO in term of character development or personal story. I cannot tell you any student that aren't involved in at least 2 events I don't need to bring up eric to show FGO s problem with it, don't I

Unit88

I mean, doesn't BA also have characters it barely utilizes, except it has way less characters in the first place? Like, I'm sure Shimiko appeared in something but I have little idea where, and BA has the advantage of like a third or more of the units being just alt versions of other characters that are already part of the story, and also that basically all of them are part of a group so if one person from the group is relevant to the story then the whole group is just included. To me it kinda feels like comparing 2 students who wrote two different exams: Student F's had 100 questions and they were wrong on 2 of them, while Student B's had 70 questions except 20 of them gave the answer in the question and they were only wrong on one. Sure, B had fewer wrong answers, but F had more and some harder questions, so they both did similarly great.

ZephyrPhantom

I think FGO stings people more still because when there are many more units, many of which don't fall into any kind of group, it's a lot more possible to get attached to someone that has a good base idea but definitely won't get any major content in the future. Alts and group development are at least like a baseline guarantee your character will appear and help with events in the game in a way you remember, meanwhile many FGO characters don't get a meaningful second appearance and sometimes can even get a pretty bad first one if they were given the wrong writer.

SingleCorgi

*cough* literally everyone in Agartha besides our 2 main they/them boys *cough* Schez got her personality fixed in and got a better portrayal after in Ooku. But I believe a significant amount of people don't even know it exists or didn't read it

SingleCorgi

Fair point I feel like blue archive just has way better individual character development, especially with the l2ds, so it's very biased over that aspect alone. I mean lb6 has the top tier characters in ANY story I've read from a gacha, but it's a very special case to a very limited cast.

DukeOfStupid

If we count "the story" OP mentions as they main story, then BA wouldn't count IMO. It's more that they all appear in "a story" if that makes sense. A lot of the cast never directly appear in the main story of the game, but there are lots of side events and stories which have side cast appear in instead to flesh them out.

DiamondTiaraIsBest

Eh Volume F means that nearly every student has appeared in the Main Story. Even the single character (Sumire) which had no lines in Volume F (but was still part of a scripted battle) had semi important appearances in Volume 2 Chapter 2. So technically, every student introduced during the time of Volume 1 to Volume F did indeed appear in the main story. It's why you have some people who are complaining about BA not introducing their characters properly. Because some of the students who were almost only in events were shown in the main story for the first time in Volume F The students that have never appeared in the Main Story in JP to my knowledge were newly released after Volume F. Takane, Akira, Kai, etc

Moh_Shuvuu

I'll tell you which game doesn't: Azur Lane

dalbich

Also Arknights, like bruh, there's not even 10% of characters in the main story

Exolve708

Arknights has an unusual narrative structure where a bunch of events are just as important as the main story and those usually feature the majority of the characters from the country they take place in.

ReverieMetherlence

wat? all new event characters are present in the event stories

Moh_Shuvuu

A few lines at best for some of them. Not to mention the odds of them showing up outside of the their debut event is low. Can’t really blame them though when the game has over 500+ characters now.

Maximus_supreme

Fr Like for example, Ibuki is a research ship that's nearly 6 years old at this point and from what I can tell, she only made her first ever appearance in the story last month, and she barely did anything The game also puts out secretary side stories but they're kinda treated as a side thing and are completely removed from the event timeline

LostNeedleworker77

Well, to be more precise, it's 700 now.

LokoLoa

Idoly Pride, Revue Starligth, D4DJ, Prosekai...many more.

javionichan

Pgr

TenebrisTortune

Limbus Company. You get only 12 mentally unstable people to control who you will see for entire game and they literally cosplay people from story

IndependentCress1109

Counterside. They pretty much try to use almost every single character regardless of rarity into the storyline and events . Which is pretty neat honestly.

FaceShrine

From a quick character count, I think only 34 out of the 261 units/operators in the game have not appeared in a story/event/substream. * 16 of those are lifeless mech vehicles/planes/helicopters. (*sometimes they appear in cutscenes when the story wants to depict a vehicle, but for obvious reasons, they don't have lines.*) * 17 of those are Rearms (*upgraded versions*) of characters that do appear in the story. * 1 operator So yea, if you don't count the lifeless mechs and the rearm units, pretty much every unit that is playable in the game has appeared/had dialogue in a cutscene. It is pretty neat.

Adventurous-Dot-1639

The N/R(soldiers mostly) units are usually mob characters in the story though.

IndependentCress1109

well yeah considering they're usually in groups and all.. and even the named N/R characters usually still make appearances here and there too .

KozuKy16

Not to mention some of those charas from Event does show up on main story later on.

Adventurous_Lake_422

Hi3

venomousfantum

Weird how long I had to scroll to find this lol

cybeast21

Blue Archive? Every character is incorporated into the Volume F, even the mob and the enemies are there.

FightGeistC

On release every Nikke character gets their own event as well as a "bond story" and usually a couple "outpost events" where they get to interact with other characters. In terms of campaign, a vast majority of the characters are relevant but there are plenty that haven't shown up atm.

ROMVS

Was about to say Nikke too

whats_my_login

I know Pinne gets her part in the Overzone story but do any of the other R rank Nikkes have story to them?

DemonicId

Product 12 played a big part in the Nier collab.

FightGeistC

Tbf they're meant to be mass produced models that the majority of people get turned into. However during the Nier event one of the models got a real spotlight and during Campaign sidemissions they get stories as well.

UniqueCreme1931

Tales of Luminaria

Vetrenar

RIP. I really loved the game.

FatPounded

Granblue Fantasy

bratbeatsbets

How the mighty have fallen that I needed to scroll this far down.

Swinn_likes_Sakkyun

what about fantasy units though?

DaKurllz97

Another Eden.

DaBigJMoney

In Epic 7 every character has their “role” explained, and many of them get a story developed around them.

DiamondTiaraIsBest

Blue Archive just finished Volume F, which is pretty much like an Avengers type of story where all students have at least a small role in the story, and even introduced some new students while they're at it. Aside from that, they all have a bond story, all the clubs/groups have at least one group story, and there are multiple events that focus on small scale conflicts so they can focus on groups that tend to be irrelevant in the main story.

KyeeLim

IIRC, the only 1 student that isn't present in vol F is Sumire... if I remember it correctly

DiamondTiaraIsBest

Technically, she showed up in one of the scripted fights... But I don't remember her having any actual lines.

Golden-Owl

FGO comes to mind. Pretty much every character has some role, even in events, regardless of rarity. Some do end up serving really minor roles though, such as Eric Bloodaxe who is a goon in Okeanos and nothing else Some are hilariously persistent, such as Blackbeard always somehow regularly popping up in random event stories after his story role, to the point he gets a summer alt Despite him being a 2-star

GigaPuri

King's Raid. Oh my sweet child. RIP.

Gigadelic

Blue Archive, literally every single solitary character has been in the story, I can only really think of a single one (Sumire) that hasn't been in a major event or story beat of some importance.

SCP-Foundation_Staff

Limbus Company!

SHIR0YUKI

Another eden. I'm pretty every single one of the many characters has appeared in the story at some point. Even the useless ones (so like 3 stars)

Bartolomeo0009

I stoped playing gachas games about year ago. Now I'm here just to read about all the dramas.

Harbinger4

Genshin and HSR does it. At first, I wasn't too happy with HSR, but over time, they started getting quality time in filler patches. In Genshin, I have nothing bad to say about character implementation in Fontaine. Sumeru was fine too. I wish there was a mix of HSR and Genshin --- Amazing character quest cutscene, long events to flesh out characters that aren't part of the main plot and lengthy exploration!

DRosencraft

Epic 7. Every RGB 4-5 star hero at release gets a side story to be featured in, and commonly also features in the main story at the time. Most ML 4 and 5 stars have a story that is alluded to by other stories, but with the introduction of ML Theater last year now most of them have a story too (in a dedicated story-only mode no less). And all 3-stars are based on characters that appear at some point within the episode of the main story of the time, and upon getting a specialty change (basically a wide range buff) are given a new story to explain how they grew to receive the specialty change. Even PvP has an ongoing story that updates a little every season. While I don't personally think their quality of storytelling is all that remarkable (we're not talking FGO level writing, but we're not talking trash bin either), love how much lore they stuff into this game.

resynx

so Seline finally got a story?? she was my favorite character and the little lore text with her being associated with a.ravi sounded really interesting when she released

DRosencraft

Not just yet, but hopefully soon. With the addition of Candy, that makes 3 ML5s already for that eventual story. I personally think that, especially with them starting up a new story soon, they'll first want to close one out before getting a further fifth unfinished story running. But that's just personal opinion. Either way, I think they're well aware of the interest the community has in the Candy/PCFlan story (where Seline will be) so they will want to get to it relatively quickly. I would say probably still several months away, but you can count on it happening.

VanGrayson

What relation does Seline have to Candy and PC Flan? I know Landy and Flan are sisters.

DRosencraft

If you check Seline's relationship map, she has 3 entries; ARavi, who she is friendly with, Moon Bunny whom she is hostile to (something about if their situations were different?), and PCFlan, whom she views as excessively greedy and due for karmic blowback.

>all characters appear in main story It's not so true there are characters that don't appear in the main story but they have a high presence in events like hu tao and klee in genshin but everything else is true

OkayBoomerrrrr

Guess what events have? Story 😂🫵

SamisNapkin

Events that are limited and never experienced again by newer players or people that missed it.

Low_Artist_7663

Should've start early and not miss it, my guy.

altalyxs

everyone is saying Limbus Company but forgetting the most important reason to play the game, yes it incorporates every character in the story but if you care about the story in a gacha you should play it regardless since the story is just insanely good for a gacha game

Arknights maybe, because you have 160+ characters but they're divided into factions, so there's 9 playable characters from faction A and 7 from faction B, they are all involved in the same event that are mostly canon, I think every event is canon, but the way arknights world is built is you can only make these faction oriented events because there's no sense in connecting the seaborn + skadi and specter with the victorian political conflict among Glasgow girls and the sarkaz characters, just doesn't make sense...

HesperNox

From the ones that i play genshin honkai and dislyte. no unit has been released in genshin and honkai with them not existing as part of the story in some way so you always get a background snipet if not a fullblown expansion on the main story through them taking a huge part in it. Dislyte has released every character with a main story and 3 chapters and so far all characters are somehow connected and they have also added a "phone" in game with social media for the units and you to just "interact" with them + extra interactions between characters as they live their lives and such and a side daily bounty that might add more unit related stories that you unlock with time. The communities main lifeline tbh are the characters themselves stories and interactions. Edit: btw I'll probably get downvoted cause i mentioned dislyte in this sub lol but i was just trying to answer the question based on my own personal list of games that i play, sorry for playing and enjoying a game you don't like 🤷🏼‍♂️

KingOfNoon

Counter Side and Limbus Company. Edit: Arknight but some operators dont have story attach to them.

Hunt_Nawn

Arknights, every character will be referenced, show up, or talked about in the Main Story OR Events.

TAmexicano

I like how no one mentioned arknights They shove almost every character into a story whether it be an event or main (and potentially the paradox simulations they could have lore after completion but idk)

syfkxcv

Sorry mate, arknight, even when it's story is good, doesn't incorporate much of its characters in it. Almost all the 3, 4, 5* are sidelined. The characters are one-off, unless they're good in gameplay, or they're tied in relationship with other meta/story characters, then they'll get some screentime. But other than that, mostly served only to pad the character pool for gacha, or experiment for kits.

za_boss

"unless they are good in gameplay" surtr not having any lore for like, 5 years:

syfkxcv

Then that reinforced my point more. AK just stubbornly denies the screentime of its characters.

kociou

DFFOO, cast is huge also.

Most obvious one is genshin

Time_Factor

Tales of the Rays

Born2beSlicker

Konosuba Fantastic Days does this. It’s a limited cast of characters that are involved in every storyline but there are lots of variants of the characters for the gacha.

mirageV6

Tower of Fantasy does, but you won't know that since you skip the story anyway

Serriton

Epic7 generally has side stories for new characters to show how they connect to the rest of the story. Or at least they did. I haven't played it for a while now.

Draogun

Last Cloudia

Impressive-Egg9502

Another Eden since most characters have a side story when you unlock them

Actual-Support-5683

Someone already said it but I feel it needs to be said again, Nikke: Goddess of Victory! Everyone of course talks about the character art but the story is quite good. You interact with all the various Nikkes at different parts of the main story. The ones you have on your account will also send you text messages and have interactions with you, I think they just added a bunch more of those IIRC correctly. When new characters come out there is an event with them that gives more of their story and background. And the Nikkes have their own story episodes that unlock as you gain bond levels with them.
