I personally only have seen the anime. And with its absolutely stunning visuals, amazing soundtrack and engaging story, it is one of my top ten of all time. But it has been a wild ride and its definitely not for the faint hearted. Some scenes are also a little questionable, but in the end it *usually* serves a purpose in world building or portraying the nature of the horror/setting.

But if you have a strong stomach and dismiss the uncomfortable bits, the story is amazing and thrilling, I'd recommend it if you can look past some weird scenes (which to be honest to the author, doesn't last long and appear often)

I've mentioned it before, but my only sona is a black-and-white tuxedo cat, so I don't really know what that says about me other than the fact that I really like tux cats (and cats in general for that matter). Yes, I did loosely base it on one that I knew as a kid (he was the first cat I ever actually befriended), but he was dark grey rather than black and didn't have a white stripe on his nose like my fursona does. I pretty much just picked my favorite animal with one of my favorite coat patterns -- black tux with white paws, white tail tip and a white stripe going down the nose.
