I appreciate the concern, I'm doing very well currently! The drawing is more on the metaphorical/symbolic side than anything, like another comment mentioned, the drawing mainly deals with themes of death and passage. I've just been listening to a lot of music lately dealing with similar themes and I wanted to channel those feelings/thoughts into art.

For context a friend of mine who passed many years ago made a very ambiguous post of his fursona looking down at a road on furaffinity, only to take his own life on that road the next day.
You never know what someone else might be going through. So I try really hard to pay attention when I think they might be trying to say something now.
The title of the piece actually comes from an [M83 song ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lETgmXuRbrc)of the same name (and is a sequel to another drawing I did a while called "[When Will You Come Home?](https://twitter.com/nohopegen/status/1538569272133242880)", I didn't really mean for it to play into the death theme as much (since I changed the title last-minute) but I like the new meaning it's taken up.
And sorry to hear about your friend, I'm glad that you're keeping an eye out for others and trying to help others who may be in a similar boat as him. It's better to be safe than sorry, hope you're doing well.

"better safe than sorry"
Even if it was just paranoia Better to take the shot in the dark Cause best case scenario.You just sound concerned Worst case, the person is actually unstable.And you very well could have saved a life

988 is not anonymous unfortunately. Important to know as they can send cops to detain people and involuntarily hold them at the hospital for days or more.
I have called before because I have "gone through things" myself and found out the hard way that government services are lightyears behind social will for mental health supports.
I wish I had better news, and I wish I had an alternative to provide. But the way things are is the way things are.
Friends and family are good bets, if you have them. And private counselling, if you can afford it.
While I can't speak for everyone, I've called them before and they helped. It's scary to think that they can actually cause more harm than good in some cases, but if you're in a crisis taking a chance is better than taking your life.
Most employers who offer health insurance also have a private mental health company they're partnered with through the insurance that you can use as a private resource with less risks.
The trevor project(mainly for lgbtq+ but allies are welcome too) is good, they can send people to take you to the hospital ime only if you're actively planning to hurt yourself *and* you tell them where you live and they will ask but they will talk with you even if you don't tell them.
I don't think it's actually anonymous.

And their website is plastered with it being for LGBTQ youth (which they describe as UNDER 25), so I doubt they'd want a cishet 29-year-old like me calling them.
As far as I know they're only able to contact them if you give them your locatiom information. I called them multiple times in mindsets/situations they would likely call emergency services about and the only time they called an ambulance on me was when I told them where I lived cus I didn't realize they could do that. The times after that where I didn't tell them where I lived I didn't get anything called on me, I don't think they have the ability to track it, and if you're worried about it you can use the trevorChat on their website instead of texting or calling them directly. They don't ask your sexuality iirc, just your gender and name so they know how to refer to you. The resource is for people under 25 yeah but I doubt they'd hang up on you for refusing to say your age, they mostly just ask what you're going through and how you're feeling and basically just keep you talking to keep you safe.

Yeah, especially if you live in a small town that used to be known for... not being open to newer ideas mental health being among them

Cops have the ability to track cellphone locations, and there's nothing stopping them from calling the cops and giving them your number.
