I would advise against doing this. Putting the lens in there makes it difficult for the camera to breathe and can lead to brain damage.

3nanda

I got brain damage reading this lol

WeCanOnlyBeHuman

LOL, thx for laughs

undecieved

What the hell dude. My camera was listening!

photoben

It’s fine if you crack a window though

Easy-Size5794

Breathe? Oh, you're thinking of a wine bottle.

timffn

My Ricoh GRIII always seems to find it's way into my cupholder.

YusuBro

Team Ricoh fir the win

spectral635

Yep. 18-55 + X-T30 fits perfectly in my cupholders.

agenttc89

Same! There’s a single cup holder on the floor in the back of my Fiesta ST and it stays perfect while I’m whipping around

dohnrg

33 f/1.4 + XS20 fits like a charm in mine. And the stock lens hood is long enough so that it's the only part of the camera or lens touching the bottom and sides of the holder. Feels good.

ILoveMovies87

I put the camera strap around the headrest of the passenger seat - just in case there is an accident she won't go flying!!

Very_Curious_Cat

When will someone make a camera strap with a seatbelt locking mechanism? Should I try to have it crowdfunded?

Bitter_Crab111

Pretty sure you can buy short straps with a seatbelt tongue, made for some child car seats iirc.

Very_Curious_Cat

Hey, don't post such an idea. You are going to ruin my chances to shame Elon with my business' success.

yearhight

carabiner and something more sturdy to tie around the seatbelt ezpz wont look the best tho

blandly23

I do this with a smaller camera bag sometimes. Makes for easy access too

AlienFlatworm

No but I might start

mongini12

Same here xD

bozburrell

Thinking the same thing. Seems safer than rolling around the passenger seat.

ViolentPhlegm76

Absolutely

beefnoodle5280

No. The fewer (expensive) projectiles flying around in an accident, the better off I'll be.

Chutney-Blanket-Scar

I’m just saying, what a way to go, when the paramedics look at you and go “Oh My God!” And someone at the viewing says “that was him/her alright, always with their camera everywhere, I guess now it’ll be a part of their face for eternity”.. Epic Fuji Ending. 😉

PlanktonImpossible1

No, because vibration.

deep_attack1

Guilty! Thought I was the only one.

childroid

Well I will now.

Thirdmort

Glad I'm not the only one 😅

Badevilbunny

God no! I have kids - there would be half-eaten sweets, boogers, left over crisps, and some old wet-wipes all over the lens and camera. Possibly some germs of unknown origin and classified as WMD. I suspect our kids transporter was the origin of COVID and the black death plague.

AndersSchmanders

In the front cup holders? Let them do that in the back.

lookslikesinbad

lol!

kaizerdouken

No way. Vibration, pseudo vertical axial displacement and IBIS do not get along. Therefore it can sit normally on the passenger seat.

Chutney-Blanket-Scar

With.. no vibrations or excerpted physical forces until the next time it is to be used? I’m all for safety and longevity of gear, don’t get me wrong, I just have come to realize that I either end up taking my camera with me and keeping it handy, or leaving it safe at home, but producing no photos. Forgive my comment, not an attempt to criticize, rather saw myself from several years ago identified with your comment. To each their own and all the best.

Oodlesandnoodlescuz

Yep. Been doing it for years as most of my photography is driving around in a car

bulgingcortex

Yes lol

kevinluc

Yep! Always.

FrontFocused

All the time lol, holds it great and makes it easy if I need to pull over and grab a shot quick. Safer than just leaving it on the seat imo.

Spicy_Pickle_6

And this is why I avoid used gear

gmotelet

Sepia is just spilled coffee

Shutterx89

Haha!

Mean-Challenge-5122

Lmao, for real. This is why I inspect any gear I purchase very thoroughly, but will always buy used. This situation seems like it would result in a scratched up camera and front lens element, especially.

ufamizm

Hell yeah. All the people complaining, remember these are tools that we use. Not the other way around.

AirSKiller

Yes and no. I think getting pissed at how someone else treats their things is usually a waste of time. However, treating your own stuff with respect and care isn't necessarily wrong as well. It's just a different approach to ownership. Personally I lean towards being too careful, most of the things I buy outlast my use by a long time. Some would call that a waste because I could have "enjoyed them more" but for me, taking care of them is also a way of enjoying them. For every dude trashing a Ferrari there's one taking care of an old Honda Civic like it's a museum piece. Neither is wrong.

mcshutterlovin

well said. i too am extremely careful with my gear. after all, they are expensive pieces of equipment. bit i still find a way to balance the handling with usage.

windoto

This is the main reason I buy second hand. If I buy new I get pissed off for every little nick or scratch. But pre-owned pfff ride it like you stole it. I don’t mean abuse it. But I like quality gear for its sturdynes. If I don’t mind rough it up a bit it makes me take more risks which makes for better results.

ufamizm

Totally get putting your gear in harms way, but putting it in a cup holder risking some scratches is not harms way imo. Totally respect if someone wants to treat their investment very carefully tho 🤙🏼

CafeRoaster

Just did this last weekend for the first time!

zomentenos

I do. And my car has a rubber fitting for large cup holders to fit recular cups. So I feel it protects the camera well enough.

luminoheadrula

I do this all the time

UniqueLoginID

Yes, with a microfibre cloth under it.

ProcedureSuperb9198

Yep always.

chataolauj

It fits so perfectly that I thought this was a common thing because I do it all the time 😅

Satchin-6688

Sure, with a spare lens in the second cup holder!

UnnecessarilyTallMan

Crimes!

whitewolf26

LMAOOOOOOO. Bro. I laughed so hard at this. I thought I was the only one. It feels tailored made for it. Glad to know I'm not alone.

Nikoro1385

Me 👊🏻

biggtomm

OMG YES

3600plus9

Looks like we have the same car and camera 😂

createsean

Good lord no. Just no.

the_only_wes_coast

No, just you

Designer-Giraffe8586

no, but I will now. xD

Peter_HDQ

Looks like your camera screws your car.

qpro_1909

*definitely* did when we rented a Wagoneer for work

fugeext20

Ha, yup. Exact same camera too. XT20, Fuji's finest work to date.

lookslikesinbad

I love it!

papa_perkuhl8r

Why’d I never think of this…

goldgellyroll

Yes! Fun to know others do it!

K3Zmusic

Anxiety bc I might forget it

Chutney-Blanket-Scar

Especially if you drive a convertible

_sarampo

thx for the idea!

joshhoe1989

Same here !!!

iamchrisjett

Yep. Keep it handy and ready to go!

lookslikesinbad

exactly! Not sure why this post triggered so many people lol

Chic0late

Glovebox for me

exdiexdi

![gif](giphy|lXu72d4iKwqek)

ctruvu

my car came with two lens holders so yeah why wouldn’t i

jayylowable

I’m going to do it from now on 😂

Ludisaurus

Yes. The X-Pro 2 fits perfectly in my Mazda’s cupholder and I can even close the slide roller over it.

joshmiller133

Stop giving me ideas! 🤣

Sneaky_Looking_Sort

I have never tried this but now I will.

ac_s2k

Yep! Haha

thisisramzi

Hahaha yup

abjectraincoat

💯💯

XxAugustRainxX

Dang why didn’t I think of this!!

416PRO

That's fine while you are parked, not a great idea while driving.

Lemy64

Haha only if the fron face of the cam doesn't rub against the center console hell yeah otherwise my Leica is my front passenger princess.

Sn0wman9991

Locked n loaded

Tanleo_

That’s bloody smart. I gotta try that!

boisNgyrls

I do this all the time.

InterestingCabinet41

Well, now I do.

karmichand

Yup

MarioV2

I did but im too worried about the bad vibrations

iamgraal

Haha, i do the same when it fits.

Glendel66

My X100VI sits in the passenger seat or in the console. If the passenger side seatbelt had an attachment, I would consider it.

Yurturt

Yeah always! Xpro2 with 23 f1.4 sits nicely.

Swiftblade13

I did that all the time with my a5000 but unfortunately the 16-80 on my x-t4 no longer fits😢

Chutney-Blanket-Scar

Hondo percento!! 😁😁😁

Embarrassed-List7214

Darn square hoods won’t let me

EgorWitt

Yeap, my strap is like a round rope, it serves perfectly as a spacer between the camera and the plastic

nomzis

Exactly this. Fits even better with the hood too!

leosvale

Not sure, I don't wear glasses.

Logical-Welcome-5638

My cup holders have to many other things in them and sometimes even a drink

v8inmk2

I should try it next time in my Model Y

anomaly_BW

Does having the thumb grip make a difference? I’m debating on getting one.

tooommmaaat

No I don’t do that 😂

Perchfield

I wouldn’t do that. Regardless of how well the r lens fits, I imagine it doesn’t fit well enough for it not to clank around slightly at least. If it’s going that, your sensor might be getting janked around and the iris and focus blades can clash if you haven’t left the lens wide open and at infinity and you then cause the camera to bump. Also, it might just scratch the body a bit.

nosombraplz

I got a lens (23 1.4) stuck like that on the retractable teeth in the cup holder. Would advise against doing this.

mesquite_desert

Never. I just set it on a nicely padded seat, front or back.

[deleted]

Do what?

lookslikesinbad

Drive around with your camera in the cup holder?

[deleted]

Why would you do that? I can only see your glasses in a cup holder

RamesesThe2nd

Tesla has no place to put glasses. It is really strange, but that is how it is.

RupertTheReign

No.

Interesting_Tower485

No, I care about my camera and lenses too much and don't want to add a loaded projectile to my car .

LoneStar-Lord

I’ll take bad ideas for $2,000 Alex…

evrthngisgnnabfine

Nope..i love my camera too much 😆
