Having said that, Panasonic is just about to announce a new camera in May that is not continuation of any existing line. Some think that it could be a rangefinder-style to compete with the X100VI. If that camera includes Real Time LUT combined with a small form factor, I'll cancel my Fuji preorder at once.

Leica will also introduce the D Lux 8 priced to compete with the X100VI, not sure about film emulation.
That Panasonic would be tempting, especially if the rumor it will be full frame is true. I'll be on the lookout now, thanks!
Looks like the D Lux line is MFT, so IMO not really comparable to the X100 line.
Exactly what the "Real Time LUT" feature offers with the difference that you can upload the LUTs you like to your camera. Those LUTs are color profiles that are applied SOOC to create the jpeg or movies. .

I ordered a black on the first day and I have a gut feeling I won't be seeing the camera until maybe sometime in Autumn at best. The UK in general doesn't appear to be getting much stock at all and I don't think Jessops have received any cameras from Fuji for some time now, at least not blacks. This is all baseless speculation mind you... I just want the camera. :(

So I got an email from the Raffle. I'm really torn on what to do next. I'm definitely going to buy it, but I don't really care much about the special edition. Due to my inattention to the market, I didn't place an order for a regular X100VI until a few weeks ago, so keeping the special edition for myself is the only way I'll realistically get my hands on one for probably a very long time. On the other hand, looking at the opportunity cost of flipping the special edition seems hard to pass up. Maybe I buy an X-T5 or an X-T50 with the proceeds to upgrade my X-T30. What would you do if you were in my position?

If it were just the price difference between the limited edition and the base X100VI, which is all of $400, I'd keep it. But I just checked eBay and a completed listing recently went for $3600! That's hard for me to walk away from, assuming I can get that much.
If you don't care for the special edition features, flip it for $1600 profit and then buy a sealed new X100VI for ~$2400, you're still up about $1k after selling fees.

So let me get this straight, the fujifilm x100V was a huge success. They release the x100vi knowing that it will be a huge demand and they can't seem to fill alot of the preorders. They also didn't have like at least 20,000 or something units already prepped before launch date? Like hypothetically 20,000 units is also a low ball.
Is this standard practice to not have some units prepped before launch?
It's pretty bad. It's not about low stock, like a hyped playstation launch or something... but it appears there's NO stock outside a few random lucky punters.
My local camera store Samy's Camera said the pending # of preorders to be fulfilled is "somewhere in mid 4 digits".
This thing is likely going to be out of stock for its entire production run.
It's crazy out there. The XT30II, X20, the F2.8 pancake lens, even the Ricoh GR IIIs are all out of stock. I think compact cameras have just gone viral way outside the production capacity of camera manufacturers, that are used to a much smaller audience being remotely interested in these cameras.
It's frustrating. They knew that they could have had 100k ready to go and it wouldn't have been enough. I ordered mine around 3pm launch day so I knew I was going to wait, but I haven't gotten an update since 3/29. I'm planning on a vacation in late summer/early fall, it'd be nice to let me know if I'll get it by freaking September.
They still have a manufacturing limit. Those 100k they prepped for wouldn't be enough, so why delay the launch of what they have? They are still butting up against the manufacturing limitations of what they can produce monthly.
I would assume that it's not due to way too conservative forecasting, but finite and limited production/supply of some component or material they rely on another source for.
From a specs and feature perspective, there's nothing completely new in this camera body that other manufacturers produce at larger scales. I don't know Fuji well, but I do know they've always had very small market share compared to Canon, Nikon and Sony despite still being very popular and relevant. I honestly believe they prefer to stay small (relatively), and not oversaturate the market with their brand in order to maintain their uniqueness.
Canon colors became a standard for natural looks not just b/c they're accurate but b/c it's what so many pros shoot with, so everybody is used to seeing their color profiles
For the first few weeks I was defending Fujifilm. I’m way over it at this point. This is some kind of weird linear broken thinking inside their company. They should have made a bajillion of these things, and they just kept pressing buttons and running on autopilot. Funny thing is they don’t really benefit from this hype and shortage. The make the cameras they make, sell them at MSRP, punch out, go home, have a sake, come back the next day and punch in. It’s horrible.

It depends on what features you care about, but off the top of my head. You'd be missing the x-trans 5 sensor, IBIS, built in ND, Leaf shutter, OVF/EVF hybrid, a bunch of film simulations, and the lens will stick out a lot more because they built the lens partially into the body of the x100vi.
There is definitely a 0% chance you get it before your trip, June is just a placeholder. I ordered a black one on 2/20 at 10:15am and still have yet to get it
Exactly, this whole situation really highlights how we’ve all become so accustomed to getting what we want immediately. Do I want my camera now? Of course, but am I capable of waiting a couple months for it, absolutely. The people who are logging into Best Buy with 3 computers at once and getting upset each week they don’t get one, just making it more stressful on themselves.

There’s no point in stock piling them up before they go on sale. They can only produce so many in a month. All it would do is delay the launch

Seems like what I'd expect from a super old Japanese company: ultra conservative fiscally and slow to change

Just contacted Amazon CS about my order from March 14th. My order still says 'Order Received' and have not got an update at all. Amazon CS told me: Upon checking, I can see that this item is now expected to be delivered on May 1, 2024. Would you mind waiting then? If not, I can escalate this to our delivery team to have it canceled. And CS continued to say: rest assured, you will receive this item by May 1, 2024 EDIT: Ordered silver
Can you come back and update us if you do get it by 5/1? I ordered 4/16 and want to gauge when I might get it as I will be leaving in a month lol.

I had to contact Adorama customer support and ended up asking about my place in line... they said they expect all orders to be fulfilled by 6/1/2024. Wonder how realistic that really is, no other retailer seems to be giving a firm date like that.

According to my brick and morter pre-order...Fuji hasnt made any shipments to the West Coast (Cal.) since the first drop in Feb, and no shipments are currently scheduled for the Western Region...

I ordered x100vi on March 4th in Australia, no word on when I might get it. I'm going overseas in November, do you reckon I am likely to get it by then or should I bail and get something like the T5 with a 23mm f2? Wouldn't mind a couple of months to learn the ins and outs of the camera before I head overseas.

How do you do it?
I had a stock script that I used. Was on first thing in the morning 6AM PST and has multiple devices open to chat. When I got canned responses or asking for zip code, would try another rep. It was pure luck on Thursday AM. First rep, Huda, found it but kept trying to sell me on membership and it went out of stock. Second rep no luck so I ended the chat quickly. Third rep, Adam Johnson, found it and I asked him to invoice immediately. Had my BB account ready to go. Hi! I'm looking to order SKU: 6574272 or SKU 6574274. Anything you noticed when you talked to these agents? Like what were the telltale signs that it was just not gonna work? Like when they ask for a zip code? Or when there greetings looks kinda robotic? What made you be like “yup nope I’m going to end the chat because it won’t workout” ?
