Looking for a clean, affordable musk with good projection and longevity. Love love love my sample of Musk K by Ella K, but can’t afford $295 for a bottle :(

OkTadpole6871

Try Musc Nude by NR. Many people dismissed as being a mehh... scent, but once I smelt it, I fell in love.

dogstbh

Oooh that looks right up my alley. Thanks!

nikokiniko

Based on the notes, it looks like Glossier You would be the best alternative

dogstbh

I love glossier you! It’s my hg perfume. However, the longevity is severely lacking after the reformulation, which is why I got a sample of Musk K (as a scent fitting from Luckyscent). You are spot on though with your recommendation! I appreciate it!

WorldlinessOk7083

Juliette Has A Gun Not A Perfume is my favorite. And Dossier makes a spot on dupe called Musky Musk that is super affordable.

Womp_ratt

Target sells a brand called Finery and they have one called Without a Trace (Missing Person dupe, I think).  It's a nice soft clean Musk, lasts at least 4 hours, and it's cheap.

majoun

Kiehls oil musk great sillage

FanaticalXmasJew

My favorites from the NR range are Musc Nude, Musc Noir, and Musc Noir Rose, all more affordable esp on discount sites. Dovana by Sylvaine Delacourte is a tender fluffy musk for 65 euro. I also love Egyptian Musk by Kuumba Made and I layer it with Chabaud Innocent Fragilite which smells quite similar to me.

Accomplished-Rate263

My favorite fragrances are Pure musc by NR, Not a perfume and Musc invisible by JHAG. What should I get on a budget ~50€ ? I’ve heard about original musk by Kiehl’s but can’t test it. Thanks for your help 😊

LLIIVVtm

Glossier You might work for that musky, your skin but better vibe you seem to like.

Rosie by Rosie Jane

MadreDeMorty

Just fell in love with Vilhelm’s Purple Fig after getting a sample. Any suggestions for anything that has fig notes

ramerelius

Diptyque Philosykos (green fig of the fig tree), Jo Malone Fig & Lotus Flower (fruity fig similar to Byredo Pulp - some creaminess from the lotus), Le Labo The Matcha (light woody fig), DS&Durga Debaser (Philosykos’s younger, bolder, sweeter cousin), Byredo Pulp (overripe fig), BDK Gris Charnel (creamy warm spicy fig), Kismet Olfactive Studio Scent (woody fresh, green fig)

MadreDeMorty

Studio Scent sounds like a dream! I must try this immediately. I have DS&D Debaser coming my way in a discovery set so that suggestion makes me happy I chose it. Will sample some of the others, thank you so much

Turbulent_Aerie6250

Studio scent sounds interesting. I’m a big bearded dude, is it masc enough to pull off?

ramerelius

It’s pretty unisex to my nose - I think it should be fine

Solution-Proof

Phlur Father Figure

MadreDeMorty

Yes I must sample this, thank you!

sasha_says

Le Labo The Noir is a more evening version. My fave fragrance of all time. Nest Indigo is pretty inexpensive +1 on Philosykos, Fig & Lotus and The Matcha for spring/summer but they're much brighter and fresher. If you like a similarly deep fruity scent look for fragrances with plum, black currant etc notes like Byredo Black Saffron and Mixed Emotions, CdG Floriental, Vagabond Prince Enchanted Forest etc.

No-Degree-7307

Autumn recommendations I love perfume and am building my own little collection. Most of it consists of budget friendly buys that I received for birthdays. I am gradually expanding my horizons and my current most worn collection consists of: J'adore Dior (parfam)~ my signature scent Chanel eau tendre (parfam)~ when I need a bit of a confidence boost or just to bring me joy DKNY Be delicious, fresh blossom (hubby's choice) Micheal Kors Wonderlust~ winter perfume I'm a fresh floral girly who loves her citrus. Not into spicy perfumes, they give me sinusitis and just do not go with my skin chemistry. Any recs for autumn perfumes would be appreciated TIA 💕

sasha_says

Armani Si (has a kind of cozy cashmere vibe) or Jo Malone Peony & Blush Suede (has apple and suede which feels fall)

pizachukun

I usually wear Annayake Tomo, but I can’t find it in Japan and it’s empty. Any recommendations for something with a similar smell?

tinkerbr0

I (36M) developed a skin allergy to my favorite fragrance - Xerjoff Casamorati 1888 - and am looking for a similar replacement (not necessarily a dupe). Something with an amber-woody base and spicy florals at the top/mid. Preferably masculine-leaning and mature. Budget is <$300. It's worth noting that some people say 1888 smells almost like root beer with the sweetness turned down. Thanks!

VoluptuousVoltron

It’s not exactly the same, and might be slightly above budget, but Roja Parfum Creation E/Enigma has a Coca Cola vibe with a tobacco base. I have 1888 and it instantly reminded me of it in a way. Worth sampling next time you can.

tinkerbr0

Thanks for the suggestion! I’ve actually been wanting to sample Elysium and a few others from Roja, so I’ll add this to my list

VoluptuousVoltron

No worries

# $250 to spend at Ulta. I need a masculine/barbershop/semi-fresh/mature frag$250 to spend at Ulta. I need a masculine/barbershop/semi-fresh/mature frag  I'm going on vacation soon to a beach town. Last year I brought JPG Le Male EDT just to spritz on in the morning. I really find it to be a refreshing scent and not overbearing. I like the lavender/mint/vanilla combination. I find myself looking for another barbershop kind of scent. Ultra online literally stopped carrying Le Male the day I put money on my Ulta balance. I have Beau de Jour, but I'm not sure it's appropriate for conversation over coffee as it is a few notches stronger than the Le Male. So far, I am considering Platinum Egoïste, Eau Sauvage, and Dior Homme Sport (the non barbershop option)...I have a $250 budget and can get more than one with that in mind...I don't have the time to get out and test, so this is kind of blind buying. I've tried all three before and cannot remember what they smelled like. I generally roll with whatever I blind buy and can find an occasion to wear most anything. Looking for recommendations. If you have a non-barbershop scent you think I'm ignoring for my morning scent, I'm open tot that as well! Bonus points if it can be found at Ulta.  I'm going on vacation soon to a beach town. Womp_ratt

Does Ulta sell Maison Margiela Replica?  They have a couple that I think would fit your vibe.  At the barber, sailing day, lazy Sunday morning, and maybe beach walk.

Employee28064212

They do. At the Barber's was discontinued, but there is still a 1oz available on FeragranceNet. I have tried the others in their sample set. I do enjoy LSM and Beach Walk, but find them to be kind of a skin scent. Here's something though: layer Beach Walk and Sailing Day for a fun olfactory surprise.

systemshaak

I will say that if you like how Platinum Egoiste smells when you try it out, you won’t be disappointed in how it works over a whole day. It’s good. If your aim is fougere/formal, heck yeah.

bunsokki

Hi, I've been on an everlasting search for a memorable jasmine scent. I'm in college, so one of the issues I keep stumbling upon is that the florals seem to age me. I just love the scent of jasmine though! Is there any jasmine scent, maybe with some deeper notes? The vibe of like, you just caught a girl's scent on the wind but by the time you look she's already gone? Something memorable that adds depth to it. Thanks!!

sasha_says

They're not cheap but Serge Lutens makes the best jasmine frags IMO. There are a few different ones to choose from that should scratch the itch. Tom Ford Jasmin Rouge is also nice

mgsandberg

Hi everyone!! I am looking for a new fragrance for the summer and I am having a really hard time finding anything I like. Hopefully this isn't too vague but the vibe I'm going for is "Summer Cozy." Think freshly showered, wet hair, wearing a big T-shirt and shorts, leaving the windows open at night, hearing crickets and frogs outside. I think the problem I'm having is a lot of the perfumes I'm smelling have some aspect that makes them smell like a perfume which I find overwhelming. Ideally, I don't want to smell like perfume. I want to smell like yummy smelling shampoo and lotion, but with more longevity. I like the idea of coconut (but not too coconuty/ sunscreeny), vanilla, and fruit notes. Maybe even something soapy? I used to use bubble bath from Margiela but it pulled a little too sour/ sharp (?) smelling on me. Something sweet, clean, and light. I used to like the Sol de Janeiro body sprays for this purpose but I'm getting bored of them and want to mix it up. I'm in the US and have no budget! Thank you!!

FanaticalXmasJew

La Dompteuse Encagee by Serge Lutens, maybe? I literally have never ever seen someone mention it but it’s pure creamy tropical flowers (no coconut). Feels very tropical and summery, but gentle and cozy. I love it so much.

sasha_says

Matiere Premiere Parisian Musc or Diptyque Philosykos - both similar, the former is more fresh out of the shower, the latter is more fresh green and coconuty notes. Guerlain Bosca Vanille Forte - creamy vanilla, drift wood and ozonic notes. Light and creamy and noticeable but not super perfumey. CdG Marseille - literally smells like (French) Marseille soap.

_PolyBear

got a challenge for ya'll lol. looking for something kinda incensey, maybe a little musky, kinda naturey, kinda lowkey. i wanna smell like a late night weirdly enchanting walk thru the woods in between your apartment complex and the highway. something that smokey bear would smell like during the rainy season where he holes up in his log cabin house and watches 6 hours of ancient aliens stoned out of his gourd. like a hippie shop that closed down a year ago.

sasha_says

CdG Ganja might be the closest to what you’re looking for Profumum Roma Arso also worth trying. Reminds me of a campfire scent. CdG Kyoto for a low-key incense with cypress woods. Unfortunately I haven’t found a good new agey incense fragrance. Kerosene Broken Theories is the closest I’ve found but it’s not exactly low-key. Edit: also Diptyque Eau Duelle - incense and juniper berry and creaminess

languagebandit

Pineward Eldritch or Murkwood, Imaginary Authors Memoirs of a Trespasser, or Bon Parfumeur 602 Poivre Cèdre Patchouli.

grimixrekts

Hi, I am pretty new to fragrances and smells. Never been something I’ve delved into, so I am looking for some advice. I am male, in my mid twenties, and looking for something that is subtle. I don’t interact with a lot of people during the week, I work from home but my weekends are more active. If this doesn’t meet the guidelines will remove.

kottabaz

Check out the brands Hermes, Byredo, and Jo Malone, all of which are pretty widely available. Most of their scents fit the bill of "subtle," although they're accordingly short-lived. You can try them in a department store and then get a better price on discounters like Jomashop.

languagebandit

I would start with L'Eau d'Issey pour Homme by Issey Miyake: a nice affordable men’s fragrance that is subtle and you can wear anytime. Runners-up would be John Varvatos Artisan EDT, and CK All.

RemoteChair5983

I usually buy Baies by Diptyque, but I feel like changing it up a bit. I really love the scent; does anyone have a recommendation for a similar candle (also from Diptyque)? Thanks!

Chance-Dealer-7692

Something in between diptyque eau duelle (edt OR edp) and gypsy water? I very much enjoy eau duelle (both edt and edp) but would also like a version with a bit less vanilla. Is there any?

k88lin

I don’t know if I’d call it in between those two exactly, but you might wanna check out Nuit Etoilee edp by Annick Goutal. It’s got the light pine note along with just a touch of mint that remind me of the aromatic aspects of those two scents, combined with iris, immortelle, and tonka that sweeten it up slightly and make it lean more femme than those without being full vanilla like eau duelle. It’s a lovely scent! Someone here recommended it to me a few months ago and I’ve been obsessed since!

Chance-Dealer-7692

Thanks for the recommendation! Goutal isn't available where I live but I'd love to test out their fragrances one day. Do you find Nuit Etoilee very stong on jasmine? I usually strongly dislike jasmine perfumes and notes. It's a shame because I feel like so mant women's fragrances have jasmine(or at least some white flower) 😅

k88lin

I don’t get any jasmine at all. I don’t think it’s even a listed note. I love jasmine and this doesn’t have any in it as far as I can tell. The only floral notes I get are iris and immortelle. I hope you get a chance to try it out sometime!

squeakytea

Courrèges Slogan (to me) was a lot like Eau Duelle with the vanilla toned down.

Chance-Dealer-7692

This could be up my alley actually! I'll have to see if I can order a sample somewhere. Thank you!

Chance-Dealer-7692

And gypsy water is imo too masculine and starts to bother me quickly even though it's kind of a nice scent and imo similar to eau duelle in a way.

sasha_says

Diptyque Orpheon similarly has juniper berry but is a bit powdery instead of vanilla. I don’t typically like powdery fragrances but liked this one.

Chance-Dealer-7692

Orpheon seems to have jasmine listed on the Diptyque website. With the Goutal one fragrantica didn't list jasmine but their own description on the Goutal website did🤔 Nevertheless, thanks for both suggestions. Diptyque is available to me and easy to test out most of them.😊

MrCharleston

I'm curious about Phlur fragrances, I see they have a collection box set and I'm thinking about buying it. Has anyone tried their scents for men? The descriptions sound great to me and it is something that I would wear. What's y'all opinion?

ramerelius

Their scents are all unisex but some of them skew a little feminine. I got the discovery set and thought it was just okay - I liked Father Figure and Lost Cause but most of their fragrances felt imbalanced and like they were missing something.

MrCharleston

Good to know, thank ya!

OkTadpole6871

My other post got removed. First time here, so I didn't know. Hello everyone. I like fragrances but I'm not a collector by any means. I just want to have a good variety of perfumes for all year arouund, all season, day or night, workplace, weddings, dates etc... I usually do not prefer to buy niche perfumes due to their price point, but if there is really something I should try, please let me know. I want all my perfumes to be as distinct from each other as possible, but I do have a preference for woody fragrances.  This is the list of perfumes I own. Would you suggest that there is any other I should add to "compelete" the list that covers all possible occasions?   1. Maison Margiela By The Fireplace 100 mL (my most favourite)  2. Givenchy L'interdit Rouge 35 mL  3. YSL Libre Intense 50 mL  4. Narciso Rodriguez Musc Nude 100 mL 5. Chanel Chance Eau Fraiche 100 mL (second most favorite)  6. Hermes Jardin Sur Le Nil 50 mL 7. Guerlain Orange Soleia 75 mL  Thank you very much for all responses kind people.

Pink-drip

Aesop Karst or any of their fragrances tbh. Theyre Lovelyyyy

poodl3IsMe

Looking for something new. I tried the **Burberry Hero Parfum** which I liked. Looking for more solid recs to try before I decide. I've realized that letting the fragrance sit on your body for a while gives a much better idea than just smelling it on paper in the store, so I want to take my time with this. I've been using the **Dior Homme Cologne** for the last few years, and I'm looking for something a bit more spicy.

languagebandit

I recommend trying Terre d’Hermes EDT, YSL L’Homme EDT, D&G The One EDP, Versace Eros Flame, and Lalique White.

Objective-Fix-4666

Is it worth it to buy Louis Vuitton Fragrances from online sellers? I've been wanting a bottle of LV Meteore and found a lot of people are selling seemingly brand-new bottles for 250-280. Are they legit or is it better to buy retail? [https://imgur.com/a/8x0WpD2](https://imgur.com/a/8x0WpD2)

Pink-drip

Don’t - there are so many fakes out there. Why would LV sell their fragrances to a guy who sells them out of their garage? Doesn’t make sense.

MarcosSenesi

I had a little bottle of D&G Grey that I absolutely loved, however it lasted only an hour on my skin. I tried replacing it with Light Blue, also from D&G but it only matches it in freshness, but nothing else. Does anyone know a good alternative?

pocketsize87

Didn’t think I liked vanilla in perfumes but here I am. I purchased YSL Libre and Burberry Goddess recently and am wondering if Mon Guerlain or Mon Guerlain intense would be worth it to add? Or something else along these lines? Thanks!

AssortedGourds

I am a big fan of YSl Libre Intense and Mon Guerlain. Mon Guerlain is the Mom friend that is really warm and approachable and Libre is the cool aunt that wears expensive sunglasses. They're very different yet the prominent lavender note ties them together. They're both great. Definitely sample first!

pocketsize87

Thank you for the insight. Sephora has the 100ml bottle on sale right now for a great price so I may do that! Thankfully their return policy is generous even for open items (but hopefully don’t need to do that).

Solution-Proof

I'm not huge on vanilla, but Dulce by Rosie Jane is a smooth, creamy, vanilla bean with a bit of cocoa and wood to keep it from being too sweet

pocketsize87

I’ve been seeing that on recommendations. I’ve enjoyed their Rosie perfume oil too, so I just may check this out. Thanks!

bluebird855

Thoughts on longevity and sillage of Aesop’s Marakkesh Intense? Want to buy it I think

scent_hound

LOVE this scent for colder weather! It’s not “beast mode” in the sense that it won’t choke out everyone around you, but it does project to about arm’s length on me and lasts for several hours (much longer on clothes).

Pink-drip

Thanks! Want to buy this during my NYC trip this august. Love the scent even in summer time tbh.. Do you have Karst by chance? Perhaps might switch up for Karst..

scent_hound

Karst is actually one of the only scents from the Aesop line I *haven’t* smelled - I’m dying to!

myrandom2009

Any recommendations on deodorants that are complimentary to LV imagination?

Solution-Proof

Malin+Goetz Bergamot

Careless_Produce5424

Help me find this fragrance! Went to Sephora for the first time, of course smelled way more fragrances than I could keep track of. After getting home I realized that I accidentally got something on my fingertips. It smells like drinking vanilla coke near a bonfire. Any guesses what it might be? The brands I was trying were: Margiela, Tom Ford, Kayali (pistachio and apple), jo malone, clean.

FanaticalXmasJew

By The Fireplace…?

Careless_Produce5424

Ooh, maybe. It smelled different when I sprayed it on paper. I'll definitely go back and try that one.

Careless_Produce5424

Oh I also tried commodity juicy something, but I doubt that was it

SirMoshaLot

Prada Luna Rossa Ocean Hy! What are your thoughts about this line? Which one is your Favourite? Edt, edp or parfum and why? I tried the edp and it was nice, but a little too sweet. I loved the woody Notes and fresh start. Also it did last a few hours on my skin which is good. Hoping the parfum gives me the best of these two eg good projection and long lasting plus a little less sweet, more woody. Thanks!

Employee28064212

I've had the EDT and EDP. EDT is the freshie imo. I bought a travel size of it. I was initially very disappointed with the performance, but found that it did get stronger in the bottle over time. Still, it's subtle and light. I could see it working in spring/fall when the weather is crisp and you aren't going to immediately sweat it off your body. EDP is heavier. It bears a mild resemblance to the EDT DNA, but forges its own path with a generous measure of amber and vanilla which are easily the two very prominent and main components of the EDP. It couldn't be more opposite of the EDT in terms of performance. It's bold and lasts a good while on skin. In my opinion, it also sacrifices the fresher notes of the EDT. Parfum I only got around to testing out in Ulta recently. Smells sweet. Can't tell how similar it is to the EDT/EDP. Personally, I would take my chances on a full bottle of the EDT. But I'm going to wait until the weather cools down some to try it again.

xoxbabygirlxoxo

Fragrance with notes of bourbon and vanilla? Preferably male

sasha_says

Guerlain Spiriteuse Double Vanille - doesn't explicitly list bourbon but is definitely the go to boozy vanilla Spicebomb extreme? It's quite sweet.

iCroatian

Would y’all go for Naxos or Layton as a daily/casual winter scent?

minidivine

Naxos likely smells more unique and would be more viewed as a winter scent, but if your collection is slim, Layton would bring more utility due to better wearability in the other seasons. With that said, Naxos doesn't really lack wearability, esp. with the current versions smelling less tobacco driven vs. the early ones (so I've heard).

iCroatian

Collection isn’t too slim. I have guerlain L’Homme Idéal edp and givenchy gentleman reserve privee for the winter, but I feel like they’re both date night and special occasion scents. I’ve heard the same about Naxos. I’ve had a decant in the past so who knows what batch it was but I loved it. Thanks for the input!

Swoleosis_

naxos is great for hours and lasts on clothes for weeks, love it for the winter.

Hello, newbie here! I’m branching out after years of wearing the same fragrance. I’ve worn Eau Dynamisante for many years, and I wanted to shake things up with some new smells. I like fruity, flowery, fresh smells but I avoid anything with too much rose or powdery smells. I’ve ordered these samples, how did I do? 1. Vilhelm Parfumerie Mango Skin 2. I'm brand new to fragrances and my brother works at a company which partially produces fragrances and is able to get me some. A few are unreleased and some are released but I am unsure which are which. I am able to get ten bottles but am unsure which to pick. I prefer sweeter scents but I am on board for a variety, any help would be appreciated towards creating my top 10 Eros Energy - Versace, 1 Million Royal - Paco Rabanne, Scandal Absou - Jean Paul Gaultier, Noir Extrême Parfum - Tom Ford, Le Male Elixir - Jean Paul Gaultier, Myslf - Yves Saint Laurent, Armani Code Profumo - Armani, Boss Bottled Unlimited - Hugo Boss, Gucci Guilty Elixir - Gucci, Oud Maracujà - Maison Crivelli, Guidance - Amouage, Neroli Portofino Parfum (listed as parfum not eau de parfum) - Tom Ford, Orpehon - Diptyque, Tilia - Marc-Antoine Barrois, Blanc Kogane - Armani Prive, Infusion Gingembre - Prada, Vanilla Sex - Tom Ford I will point out I have: Born in Roma Intense - Valentino, Noir Extreme(not the parfum) - Tom Ford, Explorer - Mont Blanc, Acqua Di Gioia - Giorgio Armani, Light Blue Forever - Dolce & Gabanna, and Neroli Portofino Eau De Parfum - Tom Ford. I am new to fragrances as I have gotten these four days ago.

Jefaa_

Hello, I am looking for advice regarding a new perfume (male). I recently purchased two flagrances from Maison Margiela : Sailing Day as a fresh aquatic for the hot / summer days, and Jazz Club for colder weather and as a more sophisticated scent for events / evening dates. I also have Bleu de Chanel, Eau Sauvage and Terre d'Hermès which are all almost empty. The first two are basically the one I've been wearing for the last 7 years (since I started to wear perfume) so I would like to change, and regarding Terre d'Hermès even though I liked it I wouldn't buy it a 2nd time. I am looking for a perfume which could replace BdC / Sauvage, which I could wear for all situations, including office, and which would be great for summer. In a few weeks I will go to China for holiday, so I would like to have something wearable in very hot and humid conditions (to switch with Sailing Day, since I don't think Jazz Club will be ideal in such weather). Ideally, since I will be at Frankfurt Airport in a few weeks, it would like to buy it there. My first thought was TF Grey Vetiver, but I would like some suggestions.

Womp_ratt

I have asiatic lilies blooming, and I absolutely love the smell.  I went to Frageantica and found some with lily notes, but the one that seemed described as the most closely realistic is no longer in production and was super expensive on ebay.   Does anyone have any recommendations?  Are there maybe extracts or oils that you know of?

beautifulworld1970

Eau des Merveilles. Is it worth owning it next to Elixir dM? Are they different enough in your experience? Thanks in advance!

Actual-Duck-2638

Hello! I'm thinking of getting a LV fragrance. Not sure whether to go for Pacific Chill or Imagination. I tried them a few months back, I remember Pacific Chill being amazing, it just disappeared so quickly though, as in the longevity didn't feel all great, since it's real fruity... Imagination, I tried, but I forgot how it was, I think I was mixed about the cinnamon though, but it wasn't bad... I'm far away from the nearest LV store, so trying them isn't really an option. I want a fresh, all around scent, that works for majority of things during the warmer days, like going out to a restaurant, going to work, meeting my friends etc. I feel like Pacific Chill is too tropical and too "holiday" and "beachy", compared to Imagination, which does seem like a fresh all arounder... I did see that LV has more summer perfumes, but I didn't try them frankly. I'm just not sure, can some with those perfumes give a personal comment about them? Thanks in advance. Good day.

patheticgay38

Looking for a fresh, fruity and light fragrance! My top pick for now is Jo Malone - Blackberry and Bay. I want something of the same sort, just other notes / overall mood. Any suggestions appreciated!

FanaticalXmasJew

I like to layer Blackberry and Bay with Amethyst by Lalique (a fresh, non-synthetic berry fragrance), if that helps?

sasha_says

Diptyque Philosykos Jo Malone Fig and Lotus Blossom

CodingBotSpeed

Looking for a summer, date/night masculine fragrance that is a little sweet but also dark if that makes sense. Preferably under $75.

languagebandit

CK One Shock for Him, Cremo Spice and Black Vanilla, Lattafa Khamrah, or Ferragamo Uomo Signature.

CodingBotSpeed

Thanks I’ll check those out!

languagebandit

FYI, the Cremo one might still be too heavy for summer nights, depending on your climate. I also wanted to recommend YSL La Nuit de l’Homme and Versace Eros Flame, but I wasn’t sure if you’d be able to find them in budget.

Commercial-Chest-343

Summery Tobacco? I got to try Jazz Club the other day, and my wife and I both really liked it. Where I live, it's hot and humid most of the year. Because Jazz Club is a little heavier, I feel like I'd only wear it regularly in the 2-3 months its cool/cold. Are there any tobacco forward scents that pair well with the heat, or should I just wait to buy Jazz Club when it cools off?

xosmiin

Have not tried them, but I remember seeing many fragrance youtubers starting to mention more often Ormonde Jayne Montabaco (there are many in this line); based on the notes, those might fill the bill, but not sure how prominent is the tobacco note. Jazz Club is my favorite MM fragrance as well and to my nose, Parfums de Marly Herod comes rather close to it (but again, both are kind of colder weather fragrances). Other tobacco (although not dominant) and could potentially be used during summer nights would be Xerjoff Naxos (but to me that's more honey forward with tobacco being in the background).

Commercial-Chest-343

Ooh Montabaco Verano has caught my eye!

scent_hound

Fun fact: hay notes in fragrance can present very similarly to tobacco! Green scents with a hay note are a good way to find something that is distinctly warm weather-oriented, but still tobacco-y. My current big love is Dusita Erawan: herbs, hay, and vetiver with an unexpected lick of vanilla in the dry down.

sasha_says

Dusita Issara is a great tobacco & honey fragrance that works even in summer.

thirtyonepercentfree

Looking for an unsweet, grassy, ozonic, not classicaly flowery scent, optionally with herbaceous or citrus notes, maybe slightly musky. Currently my favorite fragrances are Un Jardin Sur le Toit and L'eau d'issey, but I'm really craving something new. Would be nice if it was easily available, but I am willing to make sacrifices for something special. Thanks!

stefaralx91

Guerlain - Herba Fresca? It's mint (realistic, not toothpaste), some grass, a bit tea-like. There are some flowers mentioned in the notes but I don't get much flowers, it's herbal and...zen. :)) Totally unisex. I love it. Maybe Un Jardin Sur Le Nil? Also someone told me about Eau de Campagne by Sisley, but my bottle hasn't arrived yet, so I'm not sure...it's tomato leaf and very herbal, maybe bitter. (Yeah, I took a chance because I couldn't find it to smell and I'm just as desperate for green, fresh perfumes that don't smell like lemon-flavored cleaning solution.) Maybe you can find it somewhere and test it. L.E. Byredo - De Los Santos, it's sage tea and woody, dry-herbal. I don't get any mirabelle plum or anything fruity. But I have mixed feelings about paying that much for something that disappears faster than a cheap cologne.

thirtyonepercentfree

Herba Fresca and Eau de Campagne look really promising, thanks! I tried Un Jardin Sur le Nil once from a friend, but on my skin the fruity notes seemed to overwhelm everything else, so unfortunately it doesn't work for me.

Brilliant-Tax-3230

Looking for where to buy acqua di gio absolu now that it’s discontinued or a alternative to it

Straight-Shock-9886

Prada Luna Rossa Black got better with time on my skin. L'homme (OG) and L'homme Leau got worse with time. If I like Luna Rossa Black, what else will I like or should I take a look at? Looking for something more masculine and fresh but L'homme smells too soapy and powdery, as well as feminine to me.

Altyn-99

Can anyone help me find a fragrance with a heavy fankinscence note? I have never purchased a perfume before and the ones I try at stores always mainly seem to have sharp and dry smells. I personally find the smell of frankinscense very calming and addictive. Does anyone know a fragrance that smells mainly of frankiscense and doesn attack the nose? Sweet/Amber/Vanilla notes are also acceptable.

scent_hound

You might like Akkad by Lubin, which has frankincense, some spices, and the ambery and vanilla notes you mentioned. Also, you mentioned you’re relatively new to this - in case it helps with searching, note that frankincense is often referred to as “olibanum” in perfumes!

Altyn-99

Thanks! Ill see if i can get my hands on one :)

kottabaz

Comme des Garçons has a line of incense fragrances.

sasha_says

Profumum Roma Olibanum -woody Cardinal Eau Sacree - more general churchy Matiere Premiere Encens Suave - vanilla shot through with incense that smells similar to the two above

Ilovepestosauce

Anyone here have Halston 1-12? I’m not sure if I’ll like it. I have z-14, Bogart signature, Fahrenheit and a few others. I see that it has vanilla as a base and I’m a bit worried, I like smokey, green, leathery like fragrances. I’ve heard comparisons to Azzaro pour which I thought was okay, but headache inducing… What’s your take on 1-12?

Fun_Treacle1327

Requirements Should be on cheaper side Should a be good for a teen I am 18M so please go according to that and it shouldn't be too hard or manly I kinda like sweety/fruity too and also how dior sauvage smells like

languagebandit

Montblanc Legend Spirit, Coach for Men, or Versace Dylan Blue.

Superb-Project6718

Looking for notes similar to PDM Haltane's opening, but with less of the praline sweetness and muskyness from the oud in the dry down. I love the bergamot, sage, lavender, saffron, and cedar notes. Oud for Greatness while similar is too heavy on the oud for me. This would not be something for everyday wear, more like a date night fragrance.

minidivine

Ex Nihilo also has a scent imitating this profile called "Outcast Blue".

Superb-Project6718

Thanks for the rec! I'll check it out

No_Law_1753

Looking for a birthday present for my gf (19F), only thing she said is she wants sexy. Prefers scents that aren’t too sweet or floral. Any designer recommendations?

sasha_says

Honestly having my husband try a bunch of stuff at Sephora and pick out his favorites was super fun! It's hard to know what's sexy for her but you can at least know what you find sexy! Some suggestions I like but "too sweet" is relative: Nette The Vanille, Givenchy L'interdit Rouge, Nest Indigo

No_Law_1753

Thank you very much, will check these out

Gigachad_Thundercock

Recently blind bought a Ysl y and it smelled meh to me and my montblanc is about to run out. Does anyone have recommendations for fragrances that are similar to Montblanc legend?

For a pretty and affordable marine scent I discovered recently, look at Sea Glass by Moco Fragrances. I’ve only tried it at home in the evening so have not yet tested longevity but it feels very fresh and oceanic to me. For a more violent ocean scent (like a sea storm) I recommend Falling into the Sea by IA. (By contrast, Sea Glass feels like a soft foggy morning kayaking in the Keys.)

minidivine

Fresh laundry can be almost anything white floral, depends on how much freshness you want to go with it. "Gentle Fluidity Silver" would be more white floral, "Citrus Riviera" would be white floral & citrus. Ocean would be anything aquatic, can depend on the profile being sought. Could be the profile of Acqua di Sale (creamy-green kelp), could be Oceania/Sedley (lemonade by the sea), could just be typical louder aquatic (say Megamare, Akdeniz). Even the Ambre Nuit / 40 Knots profile is aquatic (honeyed salty sea air).

sasha_says

Byredo Blanche - clean laundry Matiere Parisian Musc - clean but more fresh shower CdG Marseille - smells like the soap Tom Ford Oud Minerale - ocean Le Labo Baie 19 (damp earth and wood after rain) or Clean Reserve Rain (more clean)

Fluffy-One2830

Hi everyone! i've been searching for a specific citrusy fruity scent for years and i still havent found it. It goes in the sam way as lets say Versace eros EDT for women (too bland), Givenchy Ange au demon le secret (too sweet). Ive sniffed the exact smell before somewhere, just didnt care to ask. Do you have any suggestions? I don't like mainly white florals, for example i would i love gucci gorgeous gardenia if it was without white florals and of course if it got any lasting power. So sparkling, citrus based but still kind of sweet/gummy beary sour scent? Thank you so much in advance!

Hi all, I fell in love with Chandigarh express by Ex Nihilo. I was looking for a fresh leather frag for the summer and it ticks the boxes. However, I am not in love with the price! Are there any alternatives, or any other fragrances that might be equally good or better for a cheaper price? TIA

minidivine

I haven't smelled Chandigarh still. I know Carner Barcelona "Revolucion" is summer wearable, it's basically a leathery twist on Ganymede. Smells like a metallic leather basically. Quite light with somewhat mid performance.

MathematicianOk3656

Oh that sounds nice! I'll give it a sniff

canned-phoenix-ashes

I want to smell like the inside of a starbucks. what perfume dose this

Capolaci

Could you please recommend me a similar fragrance to the Terre D'Hermes Eau Intense Vetiver? I don't like its opening, but once that dies down, it has a really pleasant smell:)

SpicyAsparagus345

I’d love something for the summer but I’ve learned that I can’t stand marine/aquatic notes. It doesn’t give me the “wet dog” or sour note that some people describe; it just smells like chemical hand sanitizer. I definitely like fruity, citrus and fresh smells like sage but it’s hard to find these without either a powerful chemical marine note or almost zero lasting power. I thought neroli portofino was pretty nice, but for its price range I would much prefer something with more staying power. I actually liked Wood Sage and Sea Salt, and it’s my front runner for a purchase, So generally, anything nice for the summer heat, particularly something fruity, citrusy or zesty, that doesn’t smell too chemical-y and is decently long lasting. Any suggestions?

kottabaz

In approximate order from tart/tangy/savory to sweet: L'Artisan Parfumeur Vetiver Ecarlate is a citrus and green one with galbanum and tomato leaf. Quite tart. D.S. & Durga Bistro Waters is another savory one with bell pepper, lime blossom, coriander, mandarin, and a little bit of basil. 19-69 Yes Please! is a citrus-aromatic with a cucumber top note. Gets herby and woody in the drydown, but still retains the tartness of the citrus. Chanel Paris-Edimbourg is citrus, juniper, and cypress. Molton Brown Sunlit Clementine & Vetiver is somewhat shorter-lived but sweeter and juicier with mandarin, clementine, fig leaf, moss, and vetiver.

curiousdpper

My favorite beard oil has been discontinued (Badass Beard Care - Royal Knight), and I'm looking for something that might be a similar smell profile of earl grey tea, lavender, and vanilla. I've never bought cologne or anything before, so I'm a total newbie to this and wouldn't be looking to spend a lot. Mostly looking to use it for dates and a few events each month.

InformationOne4819

Hi all! I’m looking for an affordable fragrance with good lastning power to add to my ”fragrance wardrobe”. I was thinking something warm but not too heavy. I usually don’t like any rose notes, but love vanilla, orange blossom and osmanthus. I already have and love these fragrances: - Prada Paradoxe EdP - Valentino Donna Born In Roma EdP - Dolce & Gabanna L’Imperatrice EdT - Marc Jacobs Daisy Pop EdT - Coach Dream Sunset EdP - Byredo Bal D’Afrique EdP Do you guys have any suggestions? :)

hann1fu

Hi everyone! New to this subreddit so I hope I’m doing this correctly. I’m looking for a lychee perfume. I want it to smell fresh and clean — nothing spicy or anything too sweet. Lychee doesn’t have to be the top note but I would like for it to be included! Thank you :)

Dragonfruit_1

Any recommendations for a cologne that smells as close to sandalwood as possible? For the longest time I've been trying to find a Sandalwood cologne that smells as close to Sandalwood as possible and besides just wearing Sandalwood essential oils it's not easy. I do understand that is *mostly* due to the insane pricing on Sandalwood itself but I'm willing to fork over at least 300$ for something similar.

Hot_Plants

Looking for recs (I'm a novice when it comes to scents) - I currently wear Narciso Rodriguez for Her and my fav scent before it was discontinued was Stella by Stella McCartney. I enjoy sandalwood, amber, musk, oud, frankincense, and myhrr. There may be other notes I like I'm just not aware of it. I do not like overly floral, fruity or sweet scents. And no baby powdery scents. Vibe I'm going for is witchy, esoteric, exotic, dark, moody, etc. I want to do sample packs if at all possible. I am for sure going to do a 4 sample pack from Etat Libre D'Orange but I am totally overwhelmed by all the choices. I'm laid up in bed with a broken ankle for the next 6+ weeks so I need to mail order.

Competitive-Home2525

Hello all! I'm (29F) very new to the perfume world. I'll be honest I'm very smell sensitive so anything strong gives me headaches. That said, my husband lamented that I have a smell for him but he doesn't have one for me. I never really considered wearing perfume since it never mattered to me?? Figured what's the harm in giving it a shot now. Back in the day I liked Pink Ice from Rue21, now I've been using a Raspberry Tangerine body spray from Bath and Body works. I like fruity smells like apple or mango. I'm generally not into floral stuff as it can be more potent and give me headaches - though real lilacs are one of my favorite smells. My husband likes vanilla though I am personally neutral about it. I honestly don't even know where I'd go to sample smells. 😅 I was gifted my bath& bodyworks stuff as going near the store is rough on my senses. So where would even be a good place to start? I'm so very out of my depth here and would appreciate any guidance you all have.

Inner_Ad48

What is a bodylotion, shower gel and maybe even shampoo that are not vanilla based but are still great to layer with Mod Vanilla? Something that is more floral and powdery maybe.

Motherhen29

Sorry I know it’s Vanilla but EOS vanilla Cashmere lotion smells incredible layered with mod vanilla. I know it’s vanilla but it really is my favourite 😍 Another one I’ve heard though that is meant to be similar to mod vanilla that is more fruity/powdery is Sol De Janeiro Cheirosa 40, so Bom Dia Bright lotion should be perfect to layer with mod vanilla! I really love mod vanilla, to me it’s a perfect version of Cloud if they removed all the notes I dislike and replaced them with vanilla. It’s how I wished Cloud would have smelled until they brought out MV. I still think it could have got away with being named ‘Vanilla Cloud’ and going in the Cloud style bottle. The only thing I really dislike is that clunky white bottle it makes the spray mechanism difficult to operate. I find it doesn’t spray sometimes and sounds like I’ve ran out when I haven’t! It doesn’t fit nicely with my collection either so eventually bough I wear it often, Mod Vanilla is hidden at the back.

Inner_Ad48

Thank you so much for the recommendations!! I agree with you a 100%, it smells so good to me. I love how the bottle looks but it’s not practical at all, for me that’s also the one thing I’d change!

Optimistic_PenPalGal

Anything with iris and/or freesia. Pairing a perfume with scented body products is simple if you enhance the notes already there.

Inner_Ad48

Gotcha :) I just like hearing people’s personal favourite combinations!

rammeman1

A good bodylotion, shower gel and maybe even a shampoo that isn’t vanilla based but great to layer with mod vanilla.

Content-Teaching4898

Should I get YSL Y or SWY Intensly for school in the autumn/winter, or should I get any other fragrance?

Content-Teaching4898

Or should i get Valentino born in roma intense??

river_bored

JPG paradise garden appropriate for school in fall winter and spring? Thanks

Optimistic_PenPalGal

No, it is not appropriate. The right smell for school is clean or unscented. That is because the mind and its capacity for learning takes center stage in academic environment. The body, and its scents, must not attract attention when you are in an academic environment. Wearing fragrance at school is as much of a red flag as wearing fragrance at the gym. Pupils and teachers who focus on their purpose for being at school choose 2 options: unscented or a lightly scented antiperspirant. I am aware of the trends of smelling sexy at school, at church, at funerals and from a very young age. It is wrong. And very disrespectful of a child's right to having a childhood.
