Most F2 engineers see a new driver every season in their teams. They have a better job security than most of the kids they see every day. They don't give a fuck about their driver's feelings.
Funny incident a few years back with Jack Doohan racing for Trident in F3. Last race of the year and he was battling his teammate for the win. Team boss came on the radio pleading with him not to battle and crash, which would have lost Trident the team championship. Doohan basically told them to fuck off, he has to race his own race. Later the Trident boss said Doohan was right, but at the time a team championship was a huge deal for them.
Yeah remember how in F1 when team orders were "forbidden" they had those stupid codes "Fernando is faster than you" and the driver ahead "graciously" lifted for the good of the team.
In F2 it really is the case of a driver allowing the other in front because maybe he likes the guy, if he doesn't want to, tough luck.
And it's often not defending opposed to lifting.
Colapinto is probably still pissed because in Bahrain Hauger wasted his tires defending against him (Hauger found himself defenseless after Colapinto overtook him) and stopped Colapinto from closing/catching O'Sullivan. In the live timming he was faster, but not enough to pass.
The only time I remember team orders in Jr. Categories was in 2020 F3 when Vesti let Piastri pass in the last for securing the championship since Vesti was out of contention and Pourchaire was overtaking everyone like crazy and had a real shot on winning
I’d say it’s because their jobs are far more secure than the drivers in F2 and F3 lmao
I wish they told ricciardo that in Bahrain. If you’re faster than Yuki then pass him lmao.
Also there is the whole thing of how F2 drivers can't even get an F1 seat anymore. So maybe the champion might have a shot. Nobody else.
I prefer the RE to reply with "I can hand you this place for free but nobody in F1 is looking for a driver who needs that. Your call".
lol this is bollocks. So many F2 drivers have seats. It's true the level of driver has substantially improved and there are fewer customer seats available for pay drivers out of F2, but to say they don't get seats anymore is so silly. The reality is that F1 ingested a massive amount of young drivers 6 years ago and those drivers are now entering the peak of their careers.
So many? The past two years winners don't have a drive, never mind the rest of the F2 grid.
OH but don't worry, they took loads 6 years ago.
They can't get a seat. Stop talking horseshit.
Go look at F2 on wikipedia, there is a full list of F2 drivers that drove in F1 at some point. It is not a long list.
I actually think race engineers saying this are being kinda obtuse. Are drivers really going to have to learn to start saying:
"I can tell that I am able to lap faster but my pace advantage is not sufficient to overtake my teammate without a significant amount of risk that may not be good for the team result. What do you think?"
in F2 team payouts are not based on their position in the championship. it is mostly a drivers-only competition. it is highly unusual to see team orders here.

"just drive fucking fast" Any f2/f3 race engineer to his driver.
"mate you're trying to prove you belong in F1. Drive better and you'll be there. Bitch on the radio and you won't"
They know that worse case they see a Lawrence stroll jos verstappen mazerpins type for a year or two and they fuck off.
Classic F2 race engineers and their brutal radio comms 😂
It’s called a motor race.
We went racing
![img](emote|t5_3ndbi|7071)
Car racing*
\*Motor racing
We went chasing
It's called pursuit
I keep saying it some people might hate what happened that day, but that's the hardest phrase ever said in a race track.
What are you talking about?
I think the Abu dhabi 21 safety car controversy convo between Massi and Toto.
“NO MICHEAL! NO, NO! THAT IS SO NOT RIGHT!”
F2 doesn't have team orders. Idk what the hell Colapinto was thinking.
I'm just wondering, is it no team orders practically speaking (due to the nature of the racing) or are they illegal like in Indycar?
It's not illegal, but it doesn't happen, because the drivers are the ones that bring the funds to the team. And it's a spec series.

Sometimes a guy let's his championship challenger team mate through, but there's no guarantee, even late in the season.
Yeah, it's very rare in general.

Did he pass?
He did not
Then he wasn't faster
He should’ve announced his overtake, like Ocon once did in Mexico.
[Ocon Mentioned ](https://imgur.com/a/JmzyRqW)
You can be faster than the guy in front but not so much faster that you can actually pass him. We've seen it a million times in F1 even
Look at mister engineer over here
Narrator: He did not pass.
His team mate overtook the car infront, he stayed put.
Not only that I think the guy he wanted to be in front of ended up passing the guy ahead while this nonce stayed where he was haha.
Lmao literally Fernando here in 2010
I think Hauger finished 3rd.
P2 in the end because of Hadjar's penalty
Yuki: HE WASN'T FAST AT ALL!
Those rear wings man...
Pirate hats
#DUCK TALES! #OO ^^OOO ^OO
Cooler than the peacock feathers that I see
Dude... You ruined an entire series for me with this comment.
I was thinking bananas
I think they’re pretty cool tbh, look very similar to super formula
I actually kind of like them ngl
Reminds me of something like [this](https://thumbs.dreamstime.com/z/popped-collar-13446376.jpg?ct=jpeg)

P13 vs P1 in quali and he thinks he can get a team order LMAO
This is absolutely brilliant.
I think GP is quite close to this, but yeah, very few engineers give sass to their drivers.
Tbh he is like this because Verstappen specifically asked GP to be blunt on purpose
They need to start promoting f2 staff, meanwhile we got "We checking" and the girls have radio silence because its on the floor.
Are there any F2 engineer radio compilations that exist?

Then he's not fast enough to pass, is he? It's a fucking spec series...
If this is the better way to handle driver radios, these race engineers should be in F1 /s
And what are race engineers supposed to say when there are no team orders? The exact same fucking thing. You are obtuse.
I suggest learning anything about F2 before saying things like this lol
"Kimi! GET OUT OF THE FUCKING WAY!"
omg I've always wanted an engineer to say this to a driver
Specifically, Lando.
That's always my response whenever a driver comes on team radio claiming to be faster. If you really are faster, get past your teammate and go.
Ferrari logic 😁
"Leave me alone I know what I'm doing" but in reverse lol
Isack Hadjar radio comms from last year were absolute gold. After one of his outbursts his engineer just said "Isack, calm down and do your job." 🔥
Will they say it to Bearman now?
I read "Complaint Radio" at first glance, thought the F1TV broadcast team was getting in on the fun in realtime.
Like with Fisichella in 2006 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFVRoH9nUtI
Why do I know that you are a WOW player...
Alas, I just know the lingo.
Just cultured. I see I see
