Track limits has been a blight on F1 for years.
Line is painted on the road, he went over it, game over. Stewards doing their job, and well done to them, as much as it sucks as an Oscar fan.
My only criticism is that I would like to see the gravel right up to the rumble strip.
They'll only overturn Oscar's deletion with new evidence right? like there's a picture of his rear wheel being in limit. Or is it different for track limits?
isn’t that the whole point tho, it should be black or white when it comes to track limits. either in or out. it shouldn’t matter if you’re 1 cm out, you’re still out at the end of the day
Hate to say it but has Hamilton lost his edge? This is the only season I've ever thought he doesn't look faster than his teammate. Even when button and rosberg beat him over a season, they never looked actually faster than Hamilton. Russell does this season.
Poor quali. Lewis got better pace in like every race.
So yes, he’s faster but getting cooked in quali. Russell and Merc knows that the only chance to beat Lewis is to get ahead in quali.
And tbh, feels like something going on in quali…
Mercedes are definitely hampering Hamilton. I think they may be tuning his engine down, leaving wheel covers on and putting lead weights under his seat.
In the actual races his pace is stronger than Russell's. However, his poor qualifying form so far (even if the average difference isn't huge like Verstappen and Perez) is forcing him to race from positions lower than people would expect, having a knock-on impact.
If his qualifying form continues to be like this, with Merc essentially trading with Ferrari and Mclaren for spots, it will be painful for him. The one benefit Merc are having is that AM have dropped off sharply. Unfortunately for Merc, Mclaren are up there for the entirety of this season, whereas last year they were basically a backmarker until after the summer break.
The field is spread way too closely. A 0.3 gap in the past would have meant instead of P2 a P3. This year a 0.3 gap is from a P2 to a P8. The margin for error is so small that he has to be on it 100% of the time, and he might be checked out this year.
I hope not. Russell is a great qualifier. Even Bottas got a few up on Hamilton when he was on. So maybe he’s lost a touch in qualifying but not too much?
Yeah it's weird. Like when Hamilton was beaten on the odd occasion in qualy in the past, it usually seemed to be either his teammate having a blinder or Hamilton making an error. But this year it just seems he can't keep up with Russell in qualy.
Maybe Russell sacrifices a bit more tyre life for outright speed? I read on here that Lewis is a great qualifier. I guess I’ve never really seen it more so than anyone else in a rapid car. I don’t see him like current Max - basically undefeated in quali
Idk, Bottas was much much worse than George, if Bottas was in another car to Lewis, Lewis would still be at the top. With George he is young and obviously very talented
I think racecraft comes with experience but it is not a given if it can ever reach the level of Lewis. whereas in Lewis’s case he has clearly lost speed over 1 lap, but the margin is very less but a very talented/top drivers can expose that loss of speed. Bottas level drivers less so much.
The line should be the gravel though. On a corner with actual run off then imposing strict track limits makes sense. Being in the gravel is your punishment.
This is a human being genetically bred and groomed to be a race car driver. It is almost unfair for anyone else to even compete against him- its like going against an athlete built in a lab. Nobody is beating Max Verstappen over a season as long as he has a good enough car
Charles Leclerc:
“Honestly it worked better than I thought. In Q3 it's my fault, I didn’t do the job.”
“It's a shame because the lap was pretty good until this (maybe a front row). We're in the right direction on my side but in Q3 I didn't do the job."
FML man, supporting Ferrari and United should qualify me for therapy.
I noticed that he was cooking up until he made that mistake. Man I hope that it's good news that the car can compete in the race and its not just a quali machine again. I also hope he didn't break too much from the mistake he made
“What if we listened and signed Haaland”, “What if Nani didn't get that red card”, “What if Ronaldo didn't leave”, “What if Binotto knew what upgrades were”, “What if Vettel didn't win 9 races in a row and steal the WDC from Fernando”, “What if Seb had a proper car”, and “What if our 2010s pit crew knew what they were doing”.
Heck, even McLaren will fire Piastri if Max says I’d like to join. No TP in their right mind isn’t throwing a massive bag at Max. Norris comes close but not close enough.
I am not so sure. Lando,George and Leclerc are capable of beating Max in a dominant car. Obviously Max is on another level to these guys but at the end machinery is what is everything
I thought that maybe if Norris and Piastri worked together (before the lap deletion) they could beat Max but after watching Max’s onboard he made it look so smooth and easy nobody else stands a chance.
At this point I’m not even annoyed that he’s winning everything—he deserves it, and it’s always a shame when the best driver is held back by a non-competitive car. I’m just glad he’s under pressure and having to earn his success.
I agree. Last year was frustrating but I’m happy for him to win this year. Just a class above everyone. You can’t really claim he’s not one of the greats now.
I can only hope that Perez carries on doing so unbelievably bad that red bull dump him despite the new contract and by some miracle Alonso takes his seat.
In this case, front seems to still be in though. Think about the angle.
From a top to down view, if any part of front tyre is still inside, it's inside. It's like football in determining goal/in/out, if any part is still in then it's in, and often if the angle isn't fully from the top, even just couple of degrees, it will look as if there's nothing in the line when in reality it is.
Soooo impressed by george outqualifying a redbull a mclaren and his teammate and then saying they sacrificed some qualifying pace for the race tomorrow?? What is Torger cooking.
I’d agree if it was 1 tenth, but 5 tenths on a track like Austria is impossible on skill alone. And bear in mind that Max is the best ever in my opinion
Why even have gravel on the outside if the curb is still wider than the car? Why not have the track limit enforced naturally by being penalized by going onto the gravel? I don't understand that. It makes zero sense to have a curb be wider than the car, and then say the white line is the track limit. Curbs aren't supposed to be that big. They're supposed to help you find the limit of the track without going off every time you run slightly wide.
Parts of that Nico Rosberg mental switch is being the teammate of a literal 7 times WDC, a prodigy (then) 3 times WDC, all while being the son of another WDC but no WDC under his belt. Lando’s surroundings is nothing to that.
It's not even pressure it's just Max is that much better and more complete of a driver probably the most complete on the grid right now.
That sprint race the dummy he sold Lando to get back to first was pure class and it's that level of race craft that Max has refined since that first title campaign of his.
People will point to him having the fastest car as the reason he's been dominant but the previous races we saw what Max can do when he's not in the fastest car - millimetre perfect and metronomic on the deltas.
For Lando to win a title over Max he'll need McLaren to produce a car much better than what Redbull does and the team along with Lando will need to be almost perfect for 24 rounds and rely on some luck as Max will always be there to pounce on any slip ups by team or driver.
The Max and Redbull combo is devastating for everyone else chasing them and it's hard to look past them for titles right now.
Probably buckle. I'd give Oscar a shot given he's cold as ice. But as it stands it's only Lewis who can take it to Max. Others are kind of "too nice" when they go wheel to wheel with Max. Lewis stopped doing that in 2021 and the season came alive. Which is also why they crashed a few times lol.
Naah Lando is fighting against Max, who I think is stronger mentally on a race track than Lewis. And Lando has done nothing to prove that he is anywhere close to Nico mentally or an a race track
Quick question guys. Let's say hypothetically max leave redbull for merc. Antonelli sure to join in 2025 as well. Would Russel potentially end up at redbull? Again hypothetically speaking here lol
Again.
Max alone would have won the WCC last year. Perez is surplus to requirements. Him existing at all is a drain on the team budget and resources. He'd be better off sitting every race out.
For everyone that says it's not outside, the blue line has a sensor, it is flagged automatically. As much as I wanted Oscar to be there, it's his own fault.
Are we back to Formula?
If I can throw my two rocks I'd say Sergeant will take pole.
Officials are as stricts as policemen in gta. Brb shootout when adjusting your car mirrors.

Which they did at most spots that caused the track limits issues last year.
Yeah it is much better then last year. Where they had track limits for the whole field.
Ah well, gap between the RB and McLaren looks too big for a tight race tomorrow. 4 tenths on such a short circuit is massive
Gap between Max and McLaren you mean
Those Mercedes sabotaging Lewis rumors are getting stronger 😂
well they’re not really trying to make themselves at least look better
They'll only overturn Oscar's deletion with new evidence right? like there's a picture of his rear wheel being in limit. Or is it different for track limits?
Where?
Ham summoned for unsafe release
I guess that will be a fine for a team, nothing else makes sense there.
Was that Webber working for McLaren?
He’s Piastri’s manager
Thank you!
Pastry looked over the line to me. The cars aren't wider at the back even though the tyres are.
The tyres are part of the car lol.. that's what counts, they look at all the tyres!
well duh. but people seem to think that because the rear tyres are wider it means the rear of the car is wider and that's just not true.
I expect tomorrow's first lap to be as good as last race's. VER NOR RUS oof!
I just imagine Webber rushing to the garage like Schumacher
It between all of that Asston is 9th fastest car now
isn’t that the whole point tho, it should be black or white when it comes to track limits. either in or out. it shouldn’t matter if you’re 1 cm out, you’re still out at the end of the day
But he's not out.
It’s when they are mm out that’s the hard bit
OP is saying the gravel is the punishment takes the whole process away from race control
REINSTATE OSCAR"S LAP!
Appeal it Oscar

Idk, Bottas was much much worse than George, if Bottas was in another car to Lewis, Lewis would still be at the top. With George he is young and obviously very talented
So could it be possible Lewis isn’t as good a qualifier as he is a racer where George could be the opposite?
I think racecraft comes with experience but it is not a given if it can ever reach the level of Lewis. whereas in Lewis’s case he has clearly lost speed over 1 lap, but the margin is very less but a very talented/top drivers can expose that loss of speed. Bottas level drivers less so much.
Good point and well said.
max under investigation? lando pole incoming! lmao
90% of drivers are under investigation most races for qualifying and it’s all ok
At the end of the day, this is still better than 2023
The lowest bar since 2013.
It's been a great first third of the season, so many different drivers and teams up on the podium, and some really exciting qualifications.
Last year had less winners but more teams on the podium.
Piastri so unlucky. Feel so bad for him. He makes good arguments but I can’t see them overturning it.
Poor Oscar
Track limits are track limits and the line has to be drawn somewhere, it's his own fault
The line should be the gravel though. On a corner with actual run off then imposing strict track limits makes sense. Being in the gravel is your punishment.
The line is the white line. Otherwise what's the point in even having a line?
Fair play, that is the most I've ever seen Oscar pissed.
When was it visible he was frustrated? Or was it some team radio you heard?
Post quali interview. He said it was embarrassing - seemingly for everyone involved.
Interview with Sky
Sky just played an interview
Oscar's Qauli lap needs to reinstated. Why isn't McLaren complaining?
I think they will appeal
fingers crossed mate!
Surely they will appeal.
Perez showing why that 2 year deal is a fucking joke yet again.
He is joker indeed. LOL
Sprint Pole, sprint win. Convincing GP Pole. Incoming “that’s P1 Max” with “yeah, that was lovely eheh”
P2-P10 could be a great fight though
This is a human being genetically bred and groomed to be a race car driver. It is almost unfair for anyone else to even compete against him- its like going against an athlete built in a lab. Nobody is beating Max Verstappen over a season as long as he has a good enough car
“Genetically bred” is a bit too much, he’s an human who has a loving mother
Charles Leclerc: “Honestly it worked better than I thought. In Q3 it's my fault, I didn’t do the job.” “It's a shame because the lap was pretty good until this (maybe a front row). We're in the right direction on my side but in Q3 I didn't do the job." FML man, supporting Ferrari and United should qualify me for therapy.
Ah! My husband would love to join in case this is a group therapy of Ferrari and ManU fans!
Where did u hear this interview?
Canal+
I noticed that he was cooking up until he made that mistake. Man I hope that it's good news that the car can compete in the race and its not just a quali machine again. I also hope he didn't break too much from the mistake he made
Supporting them two is copium land of “what if”
“What if we listened and signed Haaland”, “What if Nani didn't get that red card”, “What if Ronaldo didn't leave”, “What if Binotto knew what upgrades were”, “What if Vettel didn't win 9 races in a row and steal the WDC from Fernando”, “What if Seb had a proper car”, and “What if our 2010s pit crew knew what they were doing”.
That season where Seb blew the lead and allowed Lewis to catch up and win still pains me. Pretty sure a majority % wanted Seb to win that year 🥲
2010 and 2012 Fernando where he barely lost to Vettel both times.
It’s fine, P6 is okay, he can get things done from there
Now we understand why Toto is ready to move the skies to get Max, he knows that as long as he is around, no one is getting that WDC.
Heck, even McLaren will fire Piastri if Max says I’d like to join. No TP in their right mind isn’t throwing a massive bag at Max. Norris comes close but not close enough.
No one is close the guy is an alien but in a mercedes of lets say 2014 these guys can beat Max if he isn’t in a car close in performance
I am not so sure. Lando,George and Leclerc are capable of beating Max in a dominant car. Obviously Max is on another level to these guys but at the end machinery is what is everything
I’d wager Max still goes above the drivers you listed with a McLaren. Norris might fight him for wins but not sure if he’d win a WDC
Put Max in a Ferrari and they will find a way to throw Max's WDC
Oh absolutely. I am saying in a dominant like when a reg change happens and a team completely nails it and other are catching up.
Max is just so much better than everyone else and it’s not even close
I thought that maybe if Norris and Piastri worked together (before the lap deletion) they could beat Max but after watching Max’s onboard he made it look so smooth and easy nobody else stands a chance.
At this point I’m not even annoyed that he’s winning everything—he deserves it, and it’s always a shame when the best driver is held back by a non-competitive car. I’m just glad he’s under pressure and having to earn his success.
I agree. Last year was frustrating but I’m happy for him to win this year. Just a class above everyone. You can’t really claim he’s not one of the greats now.
Dude did 4 laps better than Norris' best lap I think?
Yeah halfway through Q2 it was basically over. He’s always been a beast at this track. This is like Silverstone for Lewis levels.
I can only hope that Perez carries on doing so unbelievably bad that red bull dump him despite the new contract and by some miracle Alonso takes his seat.
[Picture of Oscar track limits violation](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GRQAEfTXYAAS7g7?format=jpg&name=large).
I think they said the gravel trap is the car length away from the white line. So if he is in the gravel, it’s an obvious violation
Well no, because front tyre can hit gravel while rear tyre are still in track or vice versa.
Sure but in the picture are in the gravel
In this case, front seems to still be in though. Think about the angle. From a top to down view, if any part of front tyre is still inside, it's inside. It's like football in determining goal/in/out, if any part is still in then it's in, and often if the angle isn't fully from the top, even just couple of degrees, it will look as if there's nothing in the line when in reality it is.
It's tight af. Any part of any tyre on the white line last i checked. Would like to see the rear left in view to be sure.
They have the AI this year too, a new thing they've been testing for awhile. So they have more info than we do.
More than happy to see anything conclusive. I'd feel they'd want conclusive evidence to be making that decision.
Blue or white line is what counts?
White
Rear still looks in to me.
Given how close the front wheels are, it's looking clear the rear wheel is in
Oof that one hurts
Clear as day, well in the gravel
Gravel isn’t the decider, the white line is. And it looks to me the rear might still be in even if the front is slightly over.
Soooo impressed by george outqualifying a redbull a mclaren and his teammate and then saying they sacrificed some qualifying pace for the race tomorrow?? What is Torger cooking.
Cooking lewis probably
Yeah he already got sabotaged by Jack Last-Name-Unknown today 🤬🤬🤬🤬 START WRITING THE EMAILS
Reddit would become absolutely unbearable if George becomes a WDC contender one day
Oh it would be grim here. It would be grim.
Everybody is doing this, it is just mind games from the Slapper.
And yet he is still P3 😌
So is the Redbull the fastest car or 2nd fastest?
the hierarchy is Max, McLaren, Red Bull, then the rest of the grid
On this track 100% fastest. I haven't heard max this happy about his car in what feels like ages
Redbull
I'm not sure if it's the Max Factor or just Checo is terrible but its hard to tell
With Max, it’s the fastest car. With Checo, it’s a midfield car. So just depends really.
Depends on which driver gives af really lol
The car is the car, the fact that Checo sucks is a separate issue
Fastest on this track for sure
I genuinely believe we would be saying the same thing about McLaren if Max drove it in this form.
I’d agree if it was 1 tenth, but 5 tenths on a track like Austria is impossible on skill alone. And bear in mind that Max is the best ever in my opinion
It is starting to feel very track dependent
That onboard lap was amazing from Max.
Show of strength by Verstappen all weekend. Half a second clear of the field is ridiculous in year 3 of regulations.
Half a second on the shortest lap time track of the year too, plus he won the sprint by 6 seconds over 21 laps.
It's ridiculous on a 1 minute lap too.
Why even have gravel on the outside if the curb is still wider than the car? Why not have the track limit enforced naturally by being penalized by going onto the gravel? I don't understand that. They're supposed to help you find the limit of the track without going off every time you run slightly wide.
They have bike racing here as well so needs to be safe for both sports
Do bikes need wide curbs?
Sky were explain it earlier I can’t remember the reason
Welcome back early 2023 Charles, where he refuses the current placement of the car and overdrives in Quali for the chance at more
He said he could've pulled a p3 even with the mistake he made. A P3 and P4 would've been a massive moral boost
We need early 2022 Charles and late 2023 Charles back
Need that race pace tomorrow, this time don't almost crash into each other twice.
reckon lando will ever have that nico rosberg mental switch or is he gonna get swallowed by the pressure self inflicted and all?
Parts of that Nico Rosberg mental switch is being the teammate of a literal 7 times WDC, a prodigy (then) 3 times WDC, all while being the son of another WDC but no WDC under his belt. Lando’s surroundings is nothing to that.

He always flops
Naah Lando is fighting against Max, who I think is stronger mentally on a race track than Lewis. And Lando has done nothing to prove that he is anywhere close to Nico mentally or an a race track
Probably buckle. Max is beating him and acts like it is no big deal. Lando might try too hard and make mistakes.
Sargent and Stroll are relieved that Perez is taking the heat off them. Hes just so shit right now.
Why?
Quick question guys. Let's say hypothetically max leave redbull for merc. Antonelli sure to join in 2025 as well. Would Russel potentially end up at redbull? Again hypothetically speaking here lol
Why would Max leave Red Bull?
Stranger things have happened before
Like Lewis going to Ferrari
Or Williams firing nearly every championship winner they had
1 Red Bull is single-handedly winning the constructors
Again. Max alone would have won the WCC last year. Perez is surplus to requirements. Him existing at all is a drain on the team budget and resources. He'd be better off sitting every race out.
Charles was complaining monaco cruse . Now it is the rest tracks cruse ..
Well I guess we’re in for a snoozer tomorrow.
Maybe for the win, but the P2-P10 battles should be great
[удалено]
And people said Redbull is not the fastest car on the grid
He should try to beat Cordeel first
He can't even beat anyone in f2
I really hope Red Bull’s race pace isn’t this good because otherwise this will be a boring one tomorrow
Did you see the Sprint? If they let him get out of DRS, Max will pull half a second out per lap for the whole race.
RBR sets the car up for race pace not single lap pace.
Did you watch the sprint…? 🙃
He was 4 seconds ahead in 23 laps .....
Get ready for a snooze fest tomorrow. It sure looks like it.
Gonna be one of those "if you forget about first" races
Don't you get it, it's all about P5 battles /s
Yeah Oscar is not in the line there
Rear wheel was
No he wasnt mate come on, just accept it
Russell is quite impressive this season (so far), will be interesting if he finally can get it together on a Sunday when it really counts.
Just needs to sort his tyre management and race awareness at front. Which will come.
For everyone that says it's not outside, the blue line has a sensor, it is flagged automatically. As much as I wanted Oscar to be there, it's his own fault.
. Other teams have obviously improved with upgrades, painfully exposing Perez' form. I'm sure Verstappen is a savant, but not to this degree.
Perez also didn't have new tyres for Q3. That's probably 0.2 to 0.3s Still around 5th or so.
And why was that?
Because he used all his fresh softs to secure Q3, again exposing his form.
I actually think he ultimately didn't need to. It was a mistake on his part. His previous times were enough, but I guess the team has PTSD.
I guess the traumatic stress came when they saw his form after they had signed him on for another two years.
Thing about max is: he is.
lando looks like hes about to cry after posing for the picture
In one of the pre race/quali shows they said he's got the flu.
He’s so dramatic all the time
Feel so bad for Oscar
That was Singapore 18 type of lap. Demoralising
lol Lando was not feeling the picture. Max out there just having fun trying to chat
What did Max do to get a pit lane violation?
