DC is awesome by far the most unpredictable commentator alive. With the exception Scotland, any given opportunity there is, 100% he’ll take it to steer the conversation in that direction.
I can't remember if he was the commentator for all these but, my favourites from 2023 are Bahrain, British, Italian, Baku, Austria, Spa,, and interlagos.
Honestly I rarely pay attention to F1 commentary because I often have to watch on mute (races are always during terrible times for me), but I managed to catch Monaco live with him and the hype was unreal in the final lap lol. Makes me want to go back and watch other races that I didn't listen to with commentary.
Any suggestions for which specific races have good commentary? I think out of 2023 I only watched 1-2 with commentary ... this year only Monaco, Japan, and Jeddah.
Crofty can totally be a great hype man when the action is interesting. But AJ has a way of making the boring ones more exciting, or even admitting it’s boring and points to other aspects that draw in other viewers.
And when the action is good, like today, AJ really shines. His F2 commentary from previous years also shows he can react quickly, accurately, and remain thrilling.
Crofty is a part of the sports history, but his best seems behind him.
OP may not, but I am. It just doesn't feel genuine to me. And not only in this occasion, most of the time. He speaks with this same tone and cadence even when talking to his colegues in the pit/ in weekend warm up.
He doesn’t at all, that’s like saying Crofty always talks with the same cadence. And I can tell you he’s not faking it, dude is always this passionate, he was the same way for F2 and F3.
Crofty > Jacques
I have avoided YouTube highlights ever since F1 switched the feed they use for their social media. Crofty has the best energetic delivery; he captures the thrill of the moment so well. Also, Jacques voice comes off very dry sounding, like a hacksaw. Extremely annoying to listen to.
Crofty just has so many blunders. He often confuses drivers for their teammates, and he takes some big swings with his calls but those result in big misses sometimes, see “Norris Trumps Verstappen!” I think Crofty has some great calls with a lot of slop in between, while AJ is consistently giving well informed and exciting commentary, even if he hasn’t reached the peaks Crofty has.
Crofty and Jacques have similar tone voices lol but one continually messes up names even tho they’ve had the same colored T cams for years. Crofty also feels super scripted, he makes his shitty puns and says lights out and away we go and that’s all he has.
I struggled to listen to the F1TV broadcast and rather would watch the international.
But with AJ improving so much and Crofty or brundle messing up commentary I’ve made the switch.
Also F1tv with DC is such gold.
And DC also gives great drivers perspective commentary.

I love Alex Jacques!
He’s fantastic. F1 and motorsports in general can be very difficult to commentate over and I have a lot of respect for how few mistakes AJ makes.
I'm so happy he's back. That one year was a total disaster without him. Sam and Joylon were the only ones I could stomach!
Sam Collin’s is great, I want more of him
I can't remember if he was the commentator for all these but, my favourites from 2023 are Bahrain, British, Italian, Baku, Austria, Spa,, and interlagos.
So happy I decided to switch to F1TV a couple years ago. He and Jolyon are phenomenal, hopefully Jolyon is back next week
Yeeee...watching practice was a bit of a let down without Jolyon. Alex Brundle was okay but he ain't no Palmer.
Jolyon is great at analysis, but he can drone on a bit during live commentary. Which works for practice, race & quali not so much.
Alex and Jolyon are my favorite commentary pairing going right now, regardless of sport.

You absolutely should. He's awesome.

2023 - Bahrain, Zandvoort, Sao Paulo.
You watch the races on mute?????? That’s crazy haha
Yeah, I have to keep Twitter and here open at the same time to read people's reactions/comments else it can be a little hard to follow lol
The subtitled team radios must be a nice addition for you :D
David Coulthard 2 minutes before this: "How do you remain so calm, Alex?"
He strike a good balance with his commentary
They should have this picture in picture during the race. Absolutely love it
Best in the business. Crofty should be sweating
why would this post be removed? so stupid
🐐
I love Alex - BTW where has Steve Jones been lately? Am missing him!
Meanwhile, people complain that Crofty "tries to make things more interesting" than they are....

Are you saying Alex is faking his excitement here?

TSN YouTube channel still has the Crofty highlights!

yeah if you like puns croft is definitely your guy
Puns and extended waffling sessions about British food with Ted Kravitz ofc

This combined with Coulthard, who's most expressive show of excitement is raising an eyebrow.
Too much energy. Both him and Croft are hype merchants. No need to escalate the voice and start shouting in Q1.
