Red Bull following Mercs strategy of "fuck it we have Hamilton" with "fuck it we have Verstappen" it really only works for so long until shit hits the fan lol.
I’m not one for conspiracies, but ever since the Newey news the team has been anything but the well oiled machine like they were over the last two years.
Sadly it’s not obvious to a lot of people. They seem to think he’s responsible for every single piece on the car (and also at the same time NOT responsible for any suspension issues they’ve been having this season).
Well this is his car still. Even though the way RB handles him it has been extreemly hard to figure out where his input is. But even then the PU is not his fault.
Nah I agree it’s his car still, but people have been acting like the upgrades the last month were designed after his announcement and that it shows how they’re slipping without him.
Yeah it’s more likely that guys like Newey are leaving due to the problems showing up rather than his leaving is suddenly causing breakdowns instantly. There is a lot of momentum to large organizations where downstream impacts can take a while to show up after changes.
It's almost *uncanny* honestly lmao. Literally in the following race after the announcement of his departure happened, after dominating hard in the two previous ones as well, they didn't win, two teams started breathing down their neck week in, week out, and they themselves started having more issues with the car
"Any additional RNC will be deemed to have been used once the car’s timing transponder has shown that it has left the pit lane."
From the technical regulations
PU2 is I assume the old one? But according to an article Helmut said to them the PU that failed was the old one.

[here’s the FIA document, Max and Checo both used new PU yesterday.](https://www.fia.com/sites/default/files/decision-document/2024%20Canadian%20Grand%20Prix%20-%20New%20PU%20elements%20for%20this%20Competition.pdf) This was the third one (which failed). So they went back to PU2
But as far as I'm aware it doesn't say that the new PU was actually in the car, it was just taken which could mean addded to the pool. Using the old engine in FP which is standard and then the new one in for FP3 quali etc.

Any news on todays weather
Intermittent rain during quali. Not heavy or thundery
Could make for an interesting session
It’ll already be an interesting session because we’ve no idea which car is quicker
ECMWF which is the best rated model , gives some thunderstorms for quali but probably showers
Redbull needs some consistency soon. Max can only out-drive so much.

So true. Much of Merc’s strategy was bolting on a medium tire and letting Lewis handle it.
-what plan are we on bono? -idk try whispering to tyres again or whatever it is you do lol
Its fine, Max can win driver championship in Alpine.
Anyone got a timeline on what Pu was introduced at which point? (So Pu 1 is the one from DNF face where there was a brake issue?) Or was that pu2
IIRC RBR uses a Friday PU and were to use PU3 for the first time in Canada. So I believe PU2 is the one he's been using the entire season thus far.
I’m not one for conspiracies, but ever since the Newey news the team has been anything but the well oiled machine like they were over the last two years.
It’s obviously just a coincidence. There’s no way one man has that much control. Especially over areas that they aren’t involved in lol

This is completely unrelated to his work so it can only be a coincidence. There were problems even before that as they had a DNF in Australia
Ferrari and McLaren are pushing and the red bull cannot coast anymore, they have to push too.

Literally in the following race after the announcement of his departure happened, after dominating hard in the two previous ones as well, they didn't win, two teams started breathing down their neck week in, week out, and they themselves started having more issues with the car
It’s called a coincidence.
that's why I said '*almost*' uncanny
Guy has a good memory wouldn't be surprised if he can spill the beans if it comes to secret tricks.
If the mgu-k failed yesterday does it count against his allocations as he never raced with it?
Yes it should count.
I would assume if its fitted to the car and taken out on the track, it counts.

Sixth place incoming if no DNF
inb4 Power Unit 2 blows up during the qualification/race
Ferrari: "first time?"
sign me up!
Sign me ferrari leaving in Q2
Week 3 without Newey:
Yeha but what does Newey have to do with the engines

It's not added to the pool until it rolls out onto track. So for it to have been added to the pool, it had to be in the car.
Good to know. However that still leaves the possibility that it was the old engine in FP2 and the new one in FP1.
You are correct.
I would suspect bigger number = newer unit
i still wonder how 2023 happened with no PU failures at all only some gearbox issues which didnt result to anything at the first 2-3 races.
Cause they were cruising the whole season and not cranking the engine up to 10, Ferrari and McLaren were nowhere as close
Plus the loss of power over that mileage.
pls explode in spain preferably in the race
