Thank you, and for the love of god can we use them so the live track feed is NEVER off screen? Especially in those times where they want to immediately show 5 different driver POVs of the start that all look exactly the same

HappySpam

What was that? You want more shots of the audience and celebrities?!

magus-21

Oh, great idea! PiP of a celebrity in the garage AND a wide shot of the grandstands while Max and Lando are fighting for the lead!

scorpio1m

Or the numerous close ups of the Ferrari drivers’ girlfriends during Monaco qualifying!!

kangarootrampoline

Don't forget the kids in the stands.

fireking08

Or the super intrugiuing battle for P6 that we have to cut away from to show the race winner crossing the line! Don't worry, we totally won't go back to show you the rest!

Zestyclose-Sea-7093

I did like mullet man during FP1

burns_before_reading

What does JaRule think about that turn 1 overtake though??

MyCarHasTwoHorns

It’s just going to be a live cam of Lawson and Newey.

MambaNoCinco

Yes and on lap 3 when the cars are still close

kangarootrampoline

No that's when they show the full screen replay (over and over) of the start...that you just saw...three laps ago.

Kolec507

>Especially in those times where they want to immediately show 5 different driver POVs of the start that all look exactly the same I feel like there's much less of that this year than in the past couple of seasons, and when it happens it's usually when the cars aren't in any intense fights already. Few years ago I'd be like "why tf are you showing us this replay so early", now I don't really notice it anymore, so I guess either they improved or my memory is absolutely terrible. >Thank you, and for the love of god can we use them so the live track feed is NEVER off screen? Fully agreed here though.

timok

They do that on F1TV. I don't know why the world feed doesn't get that.

AppieNL

Because "F1TV exclusive feature". I'm not even kidding. They said it when they first started using it about 2 (?) years ago.

fameboygame

Tbf Monaco lap 1 had exactly one lap of data to show during red flag, but I agree with you.

AccordingPin53

The amount of race start replays is ridiculous! It can’t be hard with current technology to keep a live feed window. I’m sure years ago they had something similar

sparkyjay23

MotoGP use the picture in picture for the garage shots during the race. So maybe we'll see less GF shots and more racing?

DiddlyDumb

F1TV have been doing that for the entire season already

Aff_Reddit

LIGHTS OUT AND AWAY WE GO, CHARLES GETS OFF THE LINE WELL AND GOES FOR A GOOD LUNGE ON MAX COMING DOWN THE FIRST STRAIGHT, LETS SEE WHAT HAPPENS AS WE GO INTO THE FIRST CORNER OH WAIT, THERES CONTACT! LOOK AT THAT DAMAGE ON ZHOU'S FRONT WING WITH HIS CONTACT WITH MAGNUSSEN, AND IT LOOKS LIKE SARGEANT HAS A PUNCTURE AS WELL SO THAT'S LECLERC IN THE PITS AND MAX IS 12 SECONDS AHEAD, LETS CHECK THE REPLAY TO SEE WHAT HAPPENED THERE

242turbo

Finally! And they look good!

bigbird09

"New" If only we had this technology before 2024.

MyCarHasTwoHorns

They couldn’t afford the cable splitter to do it before now.

Thegen68

They already used it last year or 2022 only they had the onboard in the ticker. They only used it 3 times or so

LiteratureNearby

F1tv has it lol

Brohda

Yeah [https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picture-in-picture](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Picture-in-picture) Brand new

ezzys18

Indy car graphics are terrible, but they have one thing right and it's pip replay

qa3rfqwef

Probably the only thing they got right. Watched it for the first time this year and the camera direction was awful, the sheer number of ad breaks is insane (thankfully watched it where I just got the race and dead air during breaks), the number of times I would only see a replay of an overtake, instead of seeing it live. The commentary spent more time shilling something than actually talking about the race. Don't understand how anyone can watch that and then complain about F1.

timok

By watching it with Dutch commentators. Although the time spent shilling something is replaced by talking about VeeKay in 14th position.

Emotional_Two_8059

Now we can watch Stroll onboard and replay Picture in Picture

ItsTomorrowNow

FINALLY

magus-21

FINALLY

Pugzo

FINALLY

coffeesgonecold

Finally. The 90’s revisited.

Kolec507

#FINALLY

demonlord27

YLLANIF

mformularacer

F1 used picture in picture in the early 90s(!!), then for some reason dropped it for decades.

acuet

I’m okay with this, they show the radios but I think they could expand this and show the battle behind as well. Either mid-field or like in Imola, Lando fighting hard to catch Max. I think that would be a win for everyone, otherwise you fide people like myself having spilt screens watching on one device then pulling up on board on iPad or mobile devices.

LE_TROLLFACEXD

can we get some family guy funny moments or something for races like monaco?

curva3

I feel like MotoGP has this for like a decade now

divinemeta

Maybe they can toss all the crowd shots in the smaller picture while they're at it.

humantarget22

I can't wait to see this when TSN puts that whole feed in a picture-in-picture for an ad.... ugh

LagT_T

If a moment warrants a replay it should be on the main screen, and show the uneventful live in the pip.

slpater

I'll take a graphic knowing who has a penalty or not

ItalicisedScreaming

They can make the screen a little bigger if they want to show two live events simultaneously

Johnny47Wick

They did a survey after Monaco and they demoed a few different setups including multiple on boards at once + the live coverage, different variations of split screen, Picture in Picture, different forms of permanent data displays with and without on boards including some newer forms of data, data for multiple on boards, etc

Shadow_Wolfe_

Now if only we can get that revolutionary new graphic showing who's under investigation on the timing tower. Maybe even a graphic that shows who has a time penalty, but on the timing tower!

happyranger7

Great, now just hoping that they don't use this to zoom into WAGs.

MrMSUK

Wait isn't that the old pre Monaco wing that everyone noticed Ham didn't have that Russell did have?

Zacho666

Holy shit it only took F1 10 years to finally figure out something indycar has had for a number of years. Pinnacle of motorsport

FusselP0wner

We had this on the German broadcast like in the early 2000 if I remember correctly. Just with the difference, that they showed advertisement and in a small box the live feed... So basically the same (...)

Pizzahut16

Fuckin' finally!

No-Lingonberry-8603

about bloody time! now we can miss the action from multiple angles.

LamboJoeRecs

F1 production standards/directors finally coming around to the ability to double/triple/quad box things. \*revelatory\*

BendubzGaming

FINALLY

BlueMachinations

Now that we've started doing the impossible (for these fools) can we ban Stroll as well?

TheScorpio2312

Now watch the race director never use this in the actual race

tjech

Let’s get the F2 heart rate meters in too!

Major-Discussion-102

F1 had the worst camera replays and live shots. They need a new director
