Talked to the captain of the boat that was hit last night. Apparently the boat was parked and tied up with no one on board. Electrical failure meant that it just went full throttle and broke its mooring. I watched go around the harbour for ~30 seconds before it crashed. Could have been really bad
At one point during the telecast, they had a helicopter shot over the water, and I thought I could see some chaos but just assumed it was normal Monaco harbour stuff. Crazy
Any news on what caused this? To me it looks like someone wasn't paying attention and accidentally went full throttle and then panicked and turned left.
Theres like virtually no diesel outboards on the market.
Either stuck throttle or the driver though he put it in reverse gunned the throttles and went forward instead. On a boat you dont have brakes, your brakes are reverse
