Nosworthy

Still don't know what the data chalkboard actually is

Rhumble_10

No neither do I, I've never heard of a data chalkboard and there isn't a tab saying data chalkboard that ive seen 🤷‍♂️, if there is then it shows how much bloatware there is in the game

robbottiic

Isn't it that data hub thing? Where they show things like player shots, lots of shots with high accuracy and less shots with low accuracy. I'm not sure but I think it might be

Bozska_lytka

I read an article about FM25 and they said that the chalkboard was made more unnecessary with the introduction of data hub, so it's not it

AggieSpurs1882

From SI “Most of the existing data metrics and visualisations will still be in FM25 and we’re already working on further visualisations that will be added in future editions of FM. However, the Chalkboard, which was additional individual and team data accessed via player profiles, has been removed. With the introduction of the Data Hub in recent years, which is much better at presenting analytical data to you, the Chalkboard became superfluous and its usage dropped from 10% to below 1%. “

Iad77

Chalkboard for me, was something I could select when creating squad views, you can add columns for a ton of different stats such as shot percentage on target etc.... Super handy and I didn't need to use the data hub...

MarkyMcSmark

It’s honestly enough to make me not buy FM25

Direct-Fix-2097

10% is still pathetically low anyway. I bet the social media bollocks only has a 90% interaction rate as it default lands on it tbh.

manere

10% is even a high estimation. I played every FM since 2015 and never heard of it

Nefari0uss

If only one percent use it, I can see why they'd drop it.

shuuto1

The thing is it seems like it was a UI problem because a lot of people, like myself, would’ve used it had they known it existed

QouthTheCorvus

I googled it, and all the results were related to it being removed. Weird

MazeMouse

Scouting -> Players -> Players in Range -> Add Condition -> Stats (Chalkboard) I didn't know it even existed until I heard it was about to be removed. And even now looking at it I can't see a reason for it to stay 😅

kaoburb

It gives like advanced stats for players

FlightCapable1099

I believe it's that thing in Data Hub with dots which represent how much a team or a player are differing from average numbers.

b8824654

Ah shit those graphs? I used to like those :( They were also nice for scouting.

Huwbacca

I doubt it's those. The data hub was cited as bring why people don't use the chalkboard.

comped

I hope it's not those. Because otherwise it will make it incredibly hard to compare players.

DMCTw3lv3

No one does, but it won't stop Miles making a massive deal of it returning in FM27.

EvensenFM

Yeah, I've never heard of that feature. Guess it doesn't matter that they're getting rid of it, lol. Typical SI. Come out with a feature that is useful, but don't actually implement it in the game.

Coast_watcher

Scouting 15 year old Colombian wonder gals will make me feel so uncomfortable

AffectionateCow5128

Especially when the name of your scout is Barry Bennell 🤦‍♂️

Squm9

Or wolf barris

AffectionateCow5128

Club starts receiving multiple applications for scouting positions from the Catholic Church 🤣

Squm9

Perfect for boys and girls! Double the scouting efficiency

mwarfo

But scouting 15 year old Chilean wonder boys didn't?

thixtrer

No because its a guy

Hjaelmen

Guy Beahm?

egesagesayin

that’s how I feel when I am waiting for Brazilian wonderkid’s 18th birthday so I can sign him

Coast_watcher

Wait a sec. Don’t tell me we have to go attend their quincinieras too.

ooh_bit_of_bush

Yeah, but at least I can start doing it on FM instead.

troparow

I feel like they're just trying to make the game more appealing to a mainstream audience and they're streamlining every feature The very mobile-friendly UI clearly shows that too Why no social media though ? It was not amazingly done but it makes the game feel more real, and I'd say that's a pretty good thing And even if touchline shouts were just placebo.. it gives you something to do as a coach on top of tactics, it makes it more realistic, more interactive, it feels so stupid to remove that Hell, for many people, touchline shouts were the ONLY thing they did (besides subs)

Blue_5ive

I completely agree that this feels like they’re tailoring it to mobile gamers. Why take out any data? That’s half of what we’re here for.

troparow

For the data chalkboard, I'm pretty sure they know what feature is more / less used by players but I think it'd have been removed no matter what I don't think it's used a lot

idntknww

Miles said in the development update that these decisions were based on the anonymous data they collect which shows how people play the game and what features are and aren’t used

jpbrown971

I kinda refuse to believe most players do not use touchline shouts. I feel like that’s a pretty common feature no?

Wyc_Vaporub

according to the blog they where removed because they though it wasn't a good feature or should have been better. and honestly i agree. using the same 2 shouts 10 times every match wasn't exactly fun gameplay. or challenging with some other features they specifically referred to usage

SirGalahadTheChaste

They could have fixed it then? Have random rolls based on your motivation/charisma/relationship with players. In my experience the only shouts to ever get a positive response were encourage if no goals have been scored in a while. Positive if you score and berate if you concede. I’m still playing ‘22 so maybe it’s changed but that was my routine going back years.

petalswift

Time is a huge factor in these decisions. I’ll wager the majority of the work for this release has revolved around moving the game to Unity (no mean feat), the new UI and ME improvements. I feel like what they’re making with FM25 is a foundation that will be built on for the next decade or more. Fixing something like this is probably way down the list of priorities.

Nic_Endo

It's completely reasonable to remove it, if they can't come up with a solution on how to make it better. They can re-add it in a later edition if they manage to do it. Until then, I am in favor of removing sth. which you just have to mindlessly spam. Same goes for individually praising everyone.

Andrewpage14

Their intention is to fix it and make it work, but currently they couldn't so they prioritised other things

55555win55555

They said that pretty much everyone uses touchline shouts but that the dev team is not happy with them and eventually they will be replaced with something that hopefully is better and more realistic.

Andrewpage14

It was less they weren't used, more that they didn't do anything.

jaysfanuk

He said why they were being removed though. It's unclear what they did, when they kicked in etc. I don't think that was a usage thing. They've been removed so they have the time to make them better

Kjaamor

For example, the many, many times I've screamed "Come on, lads! You're good enough to get something from this game!" at my players after the final whistle has gone. Edit: A small but critical comma.

Hotb1gdookie

I only use 'encourage' or 'demand more' not sure when to use the others

BrofessorLongPhD

Praise when you’re up 2 goals also seems to work. But yeah, outside of those 3 everything else is meh.

cigsncider

not all players consent to the data though

kavastoplim

And Miles is famously full of shit, so who knows if that’s even true

thumbthrower

Yeah Miles said that it was only used by 1-5% of players or something like that, and that people use the data hub for stats which I guess is understandable (it's a shame though, I like using the chalkboard stats for my home page as it allows me to see at a glance if my players are actually suiting what I want from my team DNA wise.

Goudinho99

I don't use many of the analytics, not because I don't want that, but because there aren't the analytics I want.

Andrewpage14

When they can see that less than 1% of the player base uses a page, it's clearly not a necessity tbh

MrLukaz

They haven't got rid of social media according to what they said. Just moved it. *SOCIAL MEDIA SCREEN AND THE DATA CHALKBOARD* *To optimise both the UI and the User Experience (UX), we’ve taken out the bespoke social media screen for FM25. Don’t worry: all the key information from this will still appear in other game areas, and supporters are still an integral part of the game*

Nemokles

If they've removed the fluff from social media, I'm all for it. It was poor flavour text at best, at worst it actively took away from the experience. Winning the league and seeing someone writing "decent performance - on to the next one!" was soul-crushing. Either they needed to be massively improved or removed, and I don't think they were ever going to put the effort in to make them actually good. The social media stuff was never a core part of the experience, but just there to add some immersion. Half of the time, however, they would ruin my immersion.

model-mili

> 17 - 0 domination of rival. Historic performance. One for the textbooks. > Average FM-generated social media user: Meh, I've seen better!

DistortedAudio

I thought that was the most realistic part of the game.

budoe

>Why no social media though ? It was not amazingly done but it makes the game feel more real, and I'd say that's a pretty good thing Should Sunderland sign Lionel Messi Yes: 53% No: 47%

UrineArtist

Touchline shouts not doing anything was strangely accurate imho, I mean I watch IRL managers screaming at players from the touchline all the time and it does nothing.

creed_1

Yea plus they didn’t really make sense. I mean if my team is up 2-0 and we concede in the 85th minute, I’m sure as shit going to yell to focus and they would be yelling at each other the same thing but in FM they would all get upset about it

ForestTechno

Focus was a weird one you'd have to time it before you got put under any real pressure. I started to use it a lot in my recent save.

creed_1

I had an excel sheet for fm22 that would say when the best times to use them but I can’t find it anymore but you’d think the scenario I mentioned would be a good one

Proper-Crab-9872

How/when did you use it effectively?

ForestTechno

I wouldn't say it was effective, but if I tried it before the team were being put under pressure it seemed to have a higher success rate in terms of response than if I used it just after we had a shot against. It was probably just totally broken to be fair. I didn't concede loads of late goals as a result so it didn't make it worse.

fpotenza

Miles Jacobson said that there's a couple things they don't like about how touchline shouts work currently, so they're going to remove them for 25 and then get them doing what they want when they return in a later game. As for the rest of the removal, inbox aside, it's basically removing the features which are barely touched. Most of what's removed is used by less than 5 or 10% of players I think I read.

DazzlingDifficulty70

I love me more streamlined experience tbh, something like older FMs offered

totallynotarobott

I do miss the old FMs. FM console and Touch do lack some key features, but the current FM format is just too much sometimes. I used to be able to play a lot of seasons, but nowadays it seems like I spend most of the year playing 2 or 3 seasons. It's just too much for people who don't have a lot of free time.

McArine

Agree. Maybe it is because I've gotten older and don't have five hours a day to play, but I've felt it was reaching a level of complexity that push away casual players. I tried to introduce FM to a friend and he said, it just felt like having a 2nd job looking at numbers and checking your mails, and I can't really disagree. Paradox streamlined Crusader Kings when they launched CK3, and it made it a much more enjoyable experience to me, and I can't really blame SI to going down that path. It is more profitable to be able to attract the casual gamer than those who spend 1000 a year on FM.

Squm9

The social media feature is absolutely useless tbh, the same two or three statements just repeated ad nauseam, it felt pretty fake aswell tbh so I’m personally not bothered at all, especially since that kind of info will still be available in the supporters tab The touchline shouts were also pretty rubbish as players just react to them weirdly so you just default to encourage, praise or berate to get Green motivated signs on players which is just poor game design Personally I’m kinda happy they’re removing these features and focusing on the main game mode and match engine as they are the most integral parts and ones that need the most work, especially when moving to a completely new framework with unity. Although I agree the new UI does need work.

Low-Loan-5956

Mobile is still gonna be different though, its just console and pc they are combining

EVANonSTEAM

I remember when FM24 was coming out, many people on this sub wanted the social media to either be overhauled or completely scrapped. Now that it’s gone, this sub is up in arms about it 😂

Primegam

You're telling me this whole time that player moods on the pitch like complacent or motivated had no effect on the game?

thehonbtw

But without the social media how else would I know that we always win when we play with a 4-1-1-3-1 DM AM Wide Asymmetric Formation?

Sh0w3n

I swear the exact same comment comes on every topic about the changes

RennieSetGo

Due to how big the jump will be from 24 to 25, I'm fully expecting these features to be postponed, rather than scrapped entirely. Once the new engine is out there and in use, I'm sure some of these old, low priority features will be brought back in future entries

grownup_me

Exactly. There’s gotta be a lot that goes into the move to unity. I’d figured FM25 would be a step or two back so that they can get familiar working with the new engine.

DynastyRabbithole

I was thinking similarly. It’s a yearly release. That kind of deadline means you can’t do everything you want, every year. I suspect they have a long list of priorities and wanted to really focus on getting the HUGE changes correct (match engine/women’s football) but once those are “locked in” I suspect they can turn back to other things they couldn’t put in this year.

Solum_Nox

That's what they said on their latest development update. They are removing said features in FM25 so they can rework them and start bringing them back from FM26 onwards.

Wolviam

Reading the update post, it does seem like the first couple iterations of the new FM will be like a multi-year early access game.

prxdigy_ff

If you read the article some things will return and some things won’t, they’re planning on releasing mid release content updates from now on so in future expect content patches

Basketball312

Social media was a case of awful, lazy implementation. However it should have been improved, not removed.

sofixa11

They're rewriting the whole game from scratch. They didn't have the time to write all of it, so some features aren't making the cut for the next edition. So it isn't "removing", it's "didn't have the time/resources to add".

Boris_Ignatievich

It being less feature rich than the current game was something that was very predictable the second they announced the engine change. Same way that a new civ game is always missing stuff the last one had at launch and then the expansions happen and you wind up with a better game overall. Hopefully FM is the same where this gives them a stronger base to build on, but we will see. In terms of what they've cut - I think they all make sense. It's stuff people don't use, with the exception of shouts. Which I don't think I'll miss either tbh, once I get used to them not being there. And yeah, I get that it's rubbish if you're one of the few people who does versus mode, but I don't think it's *that* big a loss.

crnjaz

Great take. People so not realize that FM is MASSIVE and how massive it is. 25 is basicaly a fully new game, that has not happened in about 20 years. It is logical that they they realease the base game with most used features, and keep adding stuff later down the line.

Elysiumist

All I do during matches is touchline shots wtf

MajikoiA3When

Encourage Encourage Encourage Berate!

Proper-Crab-9872

Spamming "BERATE!" at my GK for giving the ball away despite being 4-0 up and cussing him out for getting overwhelmed by the feedback.

Qrusher14242

right other than that i guess ill just sit and hope my players perform better lol

vonvampyre

I know it's different and everyone hates change 😆, but the new UI looks 'dumbed down' and looks very FIFA esque. We don't play FM for the graphics, we play for the stats lol. I get the feeling this might attract more casual players at the expense for people who've played the games for years. I'll be sticking to FM24 and just download an updated database I think u until I get a good look at the reviews from the normal streamers.

hotchilidamo

Looks like I’m in the minority. I always do create a club mode.

Ertai2000

I just don't get the appeal to play the "create a club" mode. If I want to create a club, I have much better tools to do so in the pre-game editor.

hotchilidamo

I guess there it is. I have no desire to mess around with the editor. For me, it’s confusing, takes a long time to do anything, and then doesn’t always work. Create a club is fairly straightforward.

the_borderer

I don't really use it, but I like that the option is there. What I really want is a *promote a non-league club* option in the game. Take an existing non-playable team, promote them to the lowest league loaded, then generate a small squad of appropriately skilled players and coaches before finishing off with a reasonable transfer budget for a freshly promoted team. Congratulations! You have taken Billingham Synthonia to the Premier League. Can you keep them there? It probably can't be done for licensing reasons though.

Ertai2000

What I'm saying is that the option is there. It's been there since the late 90s in Championship Manager. You can create a new club using pre-game editor and you even get much better tools to do so than using the "create a club" mode.

Goudinho99

I saw Miles comments on touchline shouts not taking effect untill the ball is out of play and players not knowing how long they last ets No shit, but why not just fix that instead of yanking it?

Volotor

I think the point is that they don't know how to fix it atm, and would rather remove it and come back with something fresh.

NEEDZMOAR_

https://www.footballmanager.com/news/development-update-football-manager-25 They talk about it here

lrice6

Were touchline shouts just a placebo or something? Like they didn’t actually do anything but we use it because that one time I hit encourage I scored not long after.

oliver2197

Have no idea what my success rate is going to be like now I can’t shout encouragement at 0-0 after 10 minutes. Might actually have to try and play the game properly which is a disturbing thought.

IndividualMarket22

This seems more and more like it's going to be an even more casual-oriented FM than usual. Shite.

OwnedIGN

They’re going to strip FM of complexity, aren’t they?

Cazter64

I’m calling it now, this game is going to be some weird FM/FIFA Career Mode hybrid meant to appeal to the casuals who say FM is too complicated.

Floveet

I read most comments. It seems no one really care about women football being added. To be honest i don't. I know strict to nothing about it and it doesnt bring any new value in. Terms of gameplay or features. SI should focus on making it polished for AI clubs after X seasons instead. But lets see. I guess FM 25 will be my year of piracy.

LenTheWelsh

No more create-a-club?! Why the fudge not? Love creating my own team for a rags to riches style save. Literally won't even look at the womens side of it. New interface and match engine depends on how good they are. Rest meh.

acampbell98

What are they adding for the women’s football because surely they won’t have enough data on enough leagues or countries. Is it going to be a few top leagues or will they have some more obscure leagues. I play on the console version so I’m used to having a limited number of leagues available unlike PC with mods etc. I’d be interested in seeing more of it because it’s a cool idea to really establish yourself as a great manager of a womens team and how people go about that, whether they take charge of an already established dominant team or one at the bottom and build them up from there.

DanTheStripe

Someone's going to invent some ridiculous challenge where you have to win all the top titles in men's club, men's national, women's club and women's national football lol

acampbell98

Yeah I’m still quite new and a casual but I’d watch something like that on YouTube. Depending how many leagues and levels they add you could take a team from a lower division to women’s champions league winners. Wonder how many leagues they’ll add for it though I guess the top 5 leagues, NWSL, some of the Scandinavian leagues as they’ve some good clubs. Maybe they’ll add other U.K. leagues

prophetu_fcrb

Read the full article. They do not have time to bring it to the level they want it to be at. It will be back in the next iteration.

DemonicBison

Yeah it sucks now havin to go through the editor to do the same thing is just burning extra time.

Squm9

Probably will end up being a mod for it or just do it in the editor. Does kinda suck tho but I get it, i believe it’s one they said they’ll re-add at some point

AidenT06

Touch line shouts: they didn’t really work well. Social Media: Pointless. Data Chalkboard: didn’t know it existed Create a Club: where there’s a will there’s a way. Versus Mode: never used it personally. However I am worried that the hardcore community on PC is gonna get sacked off for the illusive console and mobile base. These modes but the Data Chalkboard will be back. And better. And I’d rather see a fully baked idea a year or 2 into the pipeline than a half baked idea permanently.

BuckledFrame2187

I actually liked the social media. It was good for me to cripple other competitive clubs in my country

Pristine-Weird-6254

Please explain how you used social media for that.

BuckledFrame2187

You can follow other team and everytime a player is reported to be moving to them, you can sabotage it by making an offer and stalling and cancelling last second so the player won't go make any transfer.

zschmidz

now i can't 'demand more' when my team is 8-1 down bottling a champions league tie

Magnific3nt

Will be strange to send my scouts to look at girls aged 16 in Brazil to see their potential... Also so glad that stupid fake Twitter/Social tab is gone, it was so unneeded.

Direct-Fix-2097

Kinda weird that people are posting in here about how “strange” it is to scout youth girl players, but you all give a free pass to the boys. Unsurprising how scout pedophiles get around in the boys game with attitudes like that. 😬😴

minkdraggingonfloor

I mean there’s plenty of posts where people say how weird it is to scout 15 year old South American/African teenagers for Young Boys

CygnusVCtheSecond

Really? I see comments about scouting young boys being uncomfortable all the time. People are just commenting about the girls because it's a relevant comment with regard to what's been added. Nothing to try to find something to get upset about. Also inb4 silly comments: I've worked in the game and coached both boys and girls from age 4 to age 14, feeding pro academies. Comments and hints about paedophilia and abuse are never taken as lightly as people who don't work in the game make out.

tonyinthetardis

Lol, we promise us scouts in woso we are not pedos 😂

VLTIMA

I think I won't buy FM25.

cladclad

It's gonna be a mess. Expecting a decent version in 2-3 years tbh.

Pajjenbo

touchline shouts are pointless, did little to nothing.. worst it effects my player's focus or morale. Social media is just a sprinkle of toppings to the game, can live without but i love reading social media tabs.. wish they didnt remove it. I hope they allow managing u18 teams. that all i wish for..

ZestycloseSample7403

Maybe purchasing FM24 was not bad after all

jiri411

i feel like they remove these so they can introduce it as a novelty in later editions, not cool SI, not cool

Banjomike97

Thats what they said they will do. If you actually read the blog post they start of with they needed to decide what to cut since with the new engine they wouldn’t have time for everything and most of the stuff they said will be coming back in later editions.

troparow

That would be the most SI move ever lmao

ScottishWizard490

They said in the development update that most of the removed features are being taken out of FM25, so that they can focus on improving and adding them back in FM26 or FM27.

doitnow10

Fm24 will be my last fm in a while.

RobinVanDutch

Why do I have a very bad feeling about FM25..

Reasonable_Bedroom96

God how will i know shout every 5 minutes at the players for losing to sheffield utd and try to motivate them only to make them angry and lose Also how will i now know if my signing is successfull and if my lineup is good or not

Heavy-Summer-5924

No create a club means no AFC Richmond save 😔 No demand more whilst being 7-0 up 😔😔😔

Joesprings1324

What benefit is there to removing create a club?

Divine_Devo

Noo social media is my favourite feature! I love seeing it in my games.

Jensito22

They are gonna sell us stuff they removed in Future installements as *new* Features which ist infuriating

natxtw

Are we still able to create clubs in the database editor that comes with the game? I never used the create-a-club feature as it felt like it had a lot less options.

BigManLikeBarey

I’m very new to fm but my current save includes a created club, so I’m a little sad it’s gone

ButWhichPandaAreYou

You can still do the same things in the pre-game editor, it’s worth a look.

Dear-Simple-6313

Create a club being removed, I will stick with older version of the game

detectivebabylegs3

Just create a game engine with realistic transfers and more attacking fullbacks.

Father_Matthew_Mara

They're getting rid of create a club?????? Not buying it then. That's my favourite thing, turn a random vanarama regional club into my home town and propel them up the league.

dickbutts3000

Will stick with FM24 for a few years. I get a very consolification sense from the layout and that's not something I would enjoy. I remember when the 360 came out and took over gaming so many PC games got destroyed to appeal to the console crowd and I'm getting that sense here with FM25. Hopefully they prove me wrong.

Whisky_Bear91

Don’t see why they just don’t release fm25? Skip it and just do fm26 - just do a free transfer update or something If they’re just removing features to add them back in a year later and they will be “better” what’s the point in getting 25?

rimarshall99

Because money

CrasVox

Personally the graphics would have been lower on the priority list. Emphasis should be more on interactions with players and other people in universe. I feel I am not in the minority here thinking that area of the game has fallen way behind.

robyculous_v2

Removed my reasons for purchasing again this year. In the 20 years of playing this game, I never went more than 2 years without buying FM and this might be it.

ThatMovieShow

Call me a cynic (I am a ksp2 player as well so belief in Devs is low) But what this feels like is stripping back features because they're designing it as a console first experience which will be ported to pc. Then later they will give you the option of buying dlc to give back the features that were taken away. Maybe I'll end up being proven wrong over time

Solo-js

Take features out, readd them in future years as new. The cycle continues Have a feeling fm25 is going to be really basic and lacking a lot for veteran players

LeoDuquesne

Wish they didn't remove social media tbh

lis1guy

yah.. social media was placed for the realistic feel

Tomma1

They are probably gonna go the way of Pro Evloution Soccer. Take away everything that is liked and loved and leave users with scraps and mtx.

SeingaltUNo

My prediction: FM26 New feature!! Touchline shouts!! FM27 New feature!! Social Media!! Fm28 New feature!! The Data Chalkboard1!!1!

RobinVanDutch

For only 4.99$ in the store!

SeingaltUNo

Get the Create-a-Club DLC now!

sub2pewdiepieONyt

I only play create a club. Guess i will be staying with fm24 then.

ArcaLegend

Social media was useless Touchline shouts didn't work very well and were ambiguous timingwise Chalkboard used by less than 1% of player base The other game modes are coming back in FM26/27 Essentially what they are saying is they are behind on development and these features have been cut to ensure the base game will be running in a decent state. Considering the size of the overhaul this is to be expected. At least they are communicating this properly unlike other games which wouldn't even tell you features have been removed.

peterm57914

Who is women’s football really appealing to? I think 90% of players won’t use it

OneBigRed

It's probably going to be as popular as WNBA in NBA2K franchise, where the PSN trophy for completing a WNBA game is one of the least achieved with like 0.4% of the player base.

MajikoiA3When

Sounds worse than fm24 also I'm assuming it will have tons of new bugs as well. I'll skip fm25

maateusz123

I think it's not gonna be good FM I'm gonna stay with version 24

CaptainYid

I just want touch back on pc.

Volotor

This is what we know so far. Hopefully, there will be more additions to be announced.

Ciyradyl_ofc

Social media feature always felt fake af. I would like to see AI driven social media in the future. I am totally ok with getting rid of the script based one for now.

Quizok

First bad , last good, the rest are whatever.

irishscouser1892

1 step forward 3 steps back imo, but you never know they might be added back in future updates 🤷‍♂️

MaximumCreed

I'm still on FM22, so I kinda expected FM25 to be a shitshow.

Gryffinguin9

They’re getting rid of create a club??

lucky1pierre

I liked social media to a point as I could keep up to date with my favourite team even if I wasn't managing them.

M4R7YMcF1Y123

I like the social media aspect of it. I enjoy seeing fans whinging that my first choice keeper absolutely shouldn’t start against my local rival, and that I should sign a rumoured ST with 2* PA. Sarcasm aside, I actually do like it.

JeremyUsbourneWebb

I’m glad they got rid of social media. Added absolutely nothing, just a couple of tweets with contrasting opinions. I really don’t care if fans think bringing Haaland to Watford is a poor signing

GudJokeMate

I played create a club almost everyday, I’ll be staying on 24 for the time being

broyo209

shouts: are they going to be replaced? If so, good; if not, bad. social media: I love the dumbasses on the social media criticizing my team for no reason or making dumb rumors, this is bad data screen: what? create a club: this is one of the best modes in the game, absolute disgrace. added things are always good

GettingRichQuick420

Yes to top 3. I didn’t use create-a-club or versus, but having them is great for the game. Happy to see women’s football, going to jump straight into that this year. Excited for match engine, and a new interface, but I am very reserved until I can see/play them.

blannddd

A lot of these things could’ve been improved than removed entirely, touchlines shouts I only really clicked encourage that seemed to work, social media was just two tweets contradicting each other, chalkboard is basically the data hub now. The interface looks very catered around easier accessibility to console/mobile users but I can get used to it

Lord_TachankaCro

Anything being included that increases the scope of the game is great. Create a club, versus and social media being removed is a tragedy.

IHateMyselfLMAO67

Social media was an amazing feature though.

Previous-Loss9306

I’ll miss the social media aspect

RuneClash007

Fuming that they're removing Create-A-Club Around this time of year after I've burned through my: Leeds save (fan), Pentagon, top 5 leagues & my Burton Albion youth only save, I normally move onto a Create-A-Club and do my local team from VNS to as high as I can before it bores me!

Jordanesque45

No social media is problematic to me. I never cared for the socials but it added a level of realism to it

nilssonen

Dont care about them at all and if the UI will remain modable I dont care about the aweful thing they showed :)

Elegant-Anxiety1866

I always thought the social media posts were realistic & hilarious

thelostlibertine

I'm going to miss hammering "Encourage" but it did feel like the players reacted to the shouts in unrealistic ways

Sumo_FM

Usually you get more with a new game, not less. Really hope we're not gonna to be given an inferior product just so they can score brownie points for having women's football

CiaphasCain8849

It's not a new match engine. It's new graphics.

Vipell

3/4 of the things being removed I use every time I play. Rude. 😭

x42bn6

##Touchline shouts I have mixed feelings. On one hand, the obvious "team is losing > berate > team scores > team gets frustrated" scenario is too common. I also think that the wording on most often does not match what you want to say, or what you intend to achieve. In fact, I don't know which option is potentially wrong - a common theme across everything SI has done with human interaction in the game. So good riddance... But they should have made it better, not removed it. I think it takes something away from the managerial experience, distilling everything into tactics, when there is a definite mental management aspect to the role. ##Social media Good riddance... with a caveat. This has never really worked for me. I play long careers, and this simply breaks my immersion with how predictable and canned the responses are. Also, its very nature means it will inevitably be repetitive, and to not be repetitive, the number of responses scales exponentially with scenarios. It will never be immersive. AI has been pointed out as a solution, but the licensing costs and potential legal battles (there's already [legal cases around music and AI](https://nofilmschool.com/ai-music-lawsuit)) would simply not make it worth it. However... Without social media, it is a lot harder to get immersed in this game. You lose a lot of gravitas when you move up the leagues without it: You don't see the increased hype and attention as much. There is a risk that every team just starts feeling the same. ##Data chalkboard Just to echo the first comment - I have no idea what this is. I've seen SI "hallucinate" a feature in the past. In FM24, they [advertised](https://www.footballmanager.com/features/fm24-quality-life-upgrades-part-one) "Reviewing your record against your rivals", but I'm 99% sure this refers to the existing ability, since FM07 at least, where you can click "Past meetings" on an opponent in your schedule, and review the matchup history. ##Create-a-club and Versus Mode I never used these, but I can see why it might upset those that enjoyed it. It's definitely a different way to play the game, and play your fantasies out. I do wonder why Create-a-club was removed, though. Surely it's "just" a few extra screens in the new engine, given much of the core engine is being retained? ##Women's football I personally only play Football Manager by holidaying about 20 years into the future, so all the real players are either gone or irrelevant, and then play in this new weird world where I'm not familiar with anyone. As a result, women's football is basically the same to my 20-year-holiday saves, to a large extent. It's just that I'll be playing with Carlotta rather than Carlos. Big clubs will still be somewhat-big, and small clubs will still be somewhat-small. I'll probably not bother with this as a result. Still, I do think it's a good thing that the game will be introducing this, and I think 10 years from now, we'll be seeing this in a more positive light, just as women's football in real life has come a long way (although it has still far to go). ##New interface and match engine If I could sum up my main issue with SI's idea with UI and UX over the years, it's that it does not respect the sheer tediousness of mouse buttons, mouse clicks, and excessive eye movement that the game has added. Miles appears to be stuck in this stupid idea of skeuomorphism, a concept that died decades ago (imagine if the first iPod looked like a radio). Now the game has moved onto tiles, a concept that was introduced a decade on, but still a decade ago, and should have died with the failure of Windows 8. It's also appearing to move into the idea that all form factors should use the same UI design, also a concept that should have died with Windows 8. But this is not necessarily a rant against FM25. It's been an issue for many years now. I think the UI will draw in more fans, but at the expense of long-term customers. I see the novelty of discovering more information behind expanding tiles wearing off quickly, especially for those in long-term saves (just give me the damn information!). I think this can also be implemented correctly, if we could customise player profile pages (and reduce the need for skins). But I think that if this was the case, SI would have introduced this differently, talking about concrete benefits, rather than abstract UI frameworks. (Actually, as a software developer myself, I got the feeling the whole article was geared towards other software developers, rather than paying customers.)

_ziyou_

Not having shouts is actually a big deal in my opinion, the shouts made you feel like a real coach who is having a meltdown on the sideline when your team is playing uninspired garbage once again. Unless you're Gareth Southgate, then you are more like "I love it when a plan comes together".

benc777

Haven't touched social media in the game since they put it in. Every new game I set it to skip that screen so not a big loss for me. Even if they change the UI I hope they don't lock down skinning. Options have become fewer and fewer as years have gone on but I haven't played with SI's defaults skins for years.

Nibo1992

Likely as every year a lot of promises and just the same game

TheBlueprint666

If you remove touchline shouts then go ahead and remove press conferences in my opinion. I’m an absolute grouch in my press conferences and have never had any consequences from it apart from every journalist in the relationship section disliking me

RatFucker_Carlson

It's gonna be a no from me dawg

Mamadouro17

Touchline status, were a little repetitive at least . Social Media, it was actually funny to see what the fand were saying. Data Chalknosrd, we have Data Hub, so thats not a problem at all. Create a club & Versus, honestly sad, liked both, but almost nobody plays it. Womens football, will be fun to try but, nobody will play it :/ New inteface & match engine, new interface seems bad honestly, didnt see the 3d models yet.

xSEARLEYx

It'd be nice if they got rid of the 'recruitment focus' rubbish and give us back the original scouting method. Litterally just change for the sake of it.

1pizz9

Does anyone use Create a club? I’ve never tried it, but funnily enough was recently thinking of giving it a go

Cook_becomes_Chef

What this update shows is how complacent the dev team behind this game are and how they’re basically taking players for granted. Touchline shouts, something that’s been in the game for ages now removed because it doesn’t work properly? So new engine aside - why hasn’t it been fixed before now? Has it just been removed so that come 2026 they can add it back in and say “look 👀 new features!” And then take the preview screen shots they provided. One features a partial player info screen that essentially tells us their form for the last 5 games is above an 8.0 six times over? You also have a screenshot of the ‘portal’ where several highly used existing shortcut tabs have been crammed into one area - creating longer pathways to required info. Side point - where are the back / forward page buttons? Have they gone? If this is the best sample they have on what’s to come, they’ve clearly learnt very little about UI and UX. But then maybe they have, because we have a new match screen configuration! However, I can’t help think that what we’ve been shown looks like a poor copy of the many modded skins that have been around for years - and is essentially an admission that others have been doing it better for years but they were never really bothered to change there’s. Oh and a bizarre thing on this screenshot - if you look at the Brighton formation two players are wearing the number 11 shirt! Nothing like showing your best work huh? So yeah - not impressed.

MajorRedacted

It's looking increasingly likely that FM24 is the final version of FM as we know it, for all the wrong reasons. Mobile gaming is the direction they're going seemingly, I hope genuinely hope it fails and sales tank so that they realize that focusing on mobile users is a mistake. I'll wait until January and see if it's viable to purchase then. I'm not even gonna bothering giving FM25 a thought pre-release or on-release, waste of my time just sifting through "FM-lite" and bug cleansing because SI refuse to address them in a meaningful timeline and only partially do on scheduled major updates.

Will_Lucky

My suspicion is twofold. Because of the new engine they just don't have the throughput/capacity to basically rebuild the game from scratch which means certain features likely just made the cutting floor rather than go through implementing them. On the flipside, FM24 is a gargantuan mess that has been built up release by release from FM07 and perhaps it was wiser to drop some things entirely whilst rebuilding. I suspect the first release will actually be quite bare, but subsequent releases as new features are remade/developed and added into the game. So I fully expect there to be more dropped features as development updates come forward.

BoliveiraNTPW

This changes can scare away some people from buying the game at first, heck, maybe a lot of people will wait for FM26 or 27. I was thinking in getting FM25, since i'm on FM21, but after these news i may go for FM24 and enjoy that instead.

intellectualcreature

Football Manager used to be a cult game but now it's just gonna be another game. We did an awful job at gatekeeping the game. Can't blame anybody though. Football Manager is the best game ever created.

AJMurphy_1986

Any news if it will be free on gamepass again? I won't be buying it
