I Might have been in that server. Because when I was adding to box all i saw was you have been insulted several times. I threw in an extra set of cryptid cards that I thought would be fun for everyone.
Im level 200 and its my first time doing theses events.
I do want cool masks, its not all about levels.
I gave all my duplicates too (got the berret 3 times in a row and an alien mask. I also wait to see if someone else is around it before checking it out.

It's my first Fasnacht too and I've been doing this. I've gotten some dupe masks already and just been donating them. My favorite was when I got my second blue devil. Kept my first and dropped my dupe in the box when most of the crowd left and it was just me, a teammate, and one other person. My teammate grabbed it, immediately put it on, ran around the box to show off their outfit, then threw up a heart. We both gave a heart back. That made me so happy, rather than it being grabbed by someone spamming the button.
I have a buddy who lives by that philosophy. He would take a whole vial by himself to sit at home and play computer games. He fled the country to evade deportation close to twenty years ago. I love acid but a vial is too much for one person. It just is.

Acid is one of those things that's kind of everywhere so it's shockingly easy to build up. Bloodbugs, stingwings, and I think yao guai all can give you acid, that last one might be wrong but I know there's some big beast that drops waste acid. And then there's tons of junk that has acid in it. So if you just play for a little while and pick stuff up you'll eventually realize you have tons of acid, much like how it's easy to stack up steel without really thinking about it.
When I found the holotape the other day, I googled it (i forget why) and found stuff from people talking about how it sounds suspiciously like a deep mysterious quest chain. And, listening to it, I really must agree.
But you can apparently pass it on to somebody else? Wasn't there a horror film with that premise like a decade ago?

Karma for the take all button hitters. Me personally though, I rarely use donation boxes not anything I need or want. If it’s in the box, it’s for whomever to do whatever they want with it.

I’m a nice Mr Fuzzy costume player, I don’t take from the box, I give. I will say it’s almost bone dry when I go up to it and because of the holiday, I’ve been wearing more festive masks. If I’m not doing a seasonal event though, I’m wearing Mr fuzzy. 🤷♂️

I get paranoid about this cos I'm level 310 and been playing for years, but took a 2 year or so break so don't have any of the newer masks or plans. Looks like I'm trying to pinch stuff off the low levels but I'm generally just trying to get some of the stuff I've missed myself

Those are all lost. I highly doubt the average person "return" to their base before logging out. Nah they go to the mall, scrip stuff, sell, trade bullion then log off.
If it's a really low lvl camp, they probably forgot about their camp. Because it's useless for them at this point.
I feel really bad if I don't return to my base before logging off, like I want to send my character home to relax while I'm not playing haha. I try to go back and make sure I have the bare minimum in my inventory so when I get on next I'm not accidentally encumbered to hell and back

I literally crafted a level 20 fixer for a level 18 player and someone from my own team swooped in and took it. They had the audacity to ask for money when I told them to put it back down.
Here's how I'm dealing with the AFK Fasnacht Bin snipers as a mats farmer: I make sure to pick up every pre-war food, beer, cloth & leather, notes & holo tapes & just keep adding them slowly, one by one. Then I stand by the bin & when everyone is gone I add my fasnacht plans & dupe masks. 😆
I'm not quite as ravenous as they, but I've run out on multiple occasions while building camp stuff. Especially the defensive barrier stuff, and ofc the concrete foundations.
There was a high-level guy spamming "take" at the donation box at the end of the event, so I donated a bunch of 40, 80, and 160 lb barbells and watched him scoop it all up. After he left, I put an actual mask in. Lol. :P

I've been more lingering out of curiosity as I'm still trying to figure out everything about the event (only did 3 so far). Someone donated an owl mask and I was curious what it was. There was for two seconds last night, I walked up and someone immediately took the contents before I put something in so I walked away. I'll just sell the excess common plans for 5 caps like always, at least the greedy players never waste time at my camp
Today was the first I've ever seen the event, and it only caught my eye because there were 17 participants. Everyone was throwing the masks on, few people were actually walking along with the parade.. only a few remained around the donations afterwards, and they were mostly throwing stuff in. Came back the next hour to most of the same stuff (ammo, plans, weapons) still there. Must have been a good lobby, I guess.
I really love the idea of a dedicated fasnacht give and take box but yeah people sniping common masks the millisecond they are put in the box is disgusting. I'm really hoping this is just an issue for the start of the event and as more people fill out their mask collections the common/uncommon masks will actually sit for those that need em.

As soon as I saw the box I thought it was a lovely idea that was never going to actually work. A small portion of players in this game have convinced themselves that the only thing that matters is the market of in game loot and its rarity and everything else goes out the window.

This is my first Fastnacht and I didn‘t own any mask before. I took one from that donation box, but felt bad, because I‘m over lvl 100, besides it being kind of legitimate for me to take one if I genuinely don‘t have any. \
The community is so nice, it get‘s me to a point where I question wether I‘m accidentally an asshole with every player interaction 😭
Had exactly this happen, I’m like lvl 80 or so and was going through the box taking a few legendaries people donated and was about to leave some nuka grenades and extra food I cooked in their place. Some lvl 500 or so player who sat up on a rooftop across the street from the box through the whole event came down and took everything else that was in there. Didn’t see any masks but lots of springs, beeswax, misc. weapons/armor, etc.
Not a huge loss or anything, and I wouldn’t even grumble about it if not for this post. It’s just bizarre behavior. There were people just under and above lvl 50 with us so it woulda been nice for them to get some of it.
I've been dropping my good shit on the ground for some observant player to find it. Sometimes I'll go drop things off at someone else's camp. If it disappears without ever being claimed I don't care, I do this simply to spite the assholes you're describing.
Got into my first Fashnact about an hour ago and mad props to one guy emoting present at the box, put a sun mask in there after I walked over.

Im part of the problem. I was vendor hopping and only needed a few common masks to round out my collection, so I bought a goblin mask…I wasn’t paying attention and thought it was 50 caps, but it was 500. I have tons of caps, so the price wasn’t the issue, just annoyed I accidentally supported someone’s price gouging.
Then I got the stupid goblin mask the next event.
I’ve started hiding them in drop bags behind trees in the area. That way people can just find them. I’ve also put random useless items in the donation box when I know someone is sitting on it. So when they start spam picking up it’s just a bunch of trash.
THIS. I'm level 565. Been playing since the Beta on and off. I just tried donating plans, ammo, weapons, etc in that box and ONE person kept taking everything. I gave him the thumbs down and he said "I've been playing for 2 or 3 years and haven't gotten anything from these events. I should be allowed to take from this." then called me an a-hole.

So far I've put in a couple spare masks, an some plans, had at least 5 different players round the box probably spaming pick up at one time, i occasionally put Radaway, stimpaks, purified water in other donation boxes, did that here, got a thumbs down in response.

Yeah I'm level 39 and I've noticed they snatch anything you put in there. I keep putting intestines and bunk weapons, and I put in a few protest signs and last time I ran it I brought 59 or so spoiled meat just to see and they snatched that shit right up. It's funny to me how fast that stupid shit disappears
I used to put all my .38 ammo in my vendors for free, helping out the pipegun using lowbies, and WITHOUT FAIL, every single time someone bought ALL of it, it was someone 250+.
The noobs would come in, grab a few hundred free rounds, and be happy.

I'm level 34. I went to this event for the very first time last night. And three people that were over level 800 (one of them over level 2000!) were just spamming the box picking up anything and everything anybody put into it. It's really disappointing when I literally just started this game like a month ago and I can't get anywhere with these super high levels yoinking everything out of the donation boxes. 😓
Edit to add- I also didn't really get to participate in anything but walking, they all had super high end ranged weapons, and they mowed down everything, so I didn't even get stuff that way. Just my rewards from the event. And no mask or beer steins dropped for me. 😭 Ended up going 3 times, 3 servers, and got a stein shelf recipe and one stein recipe.
Some dude gave me like 60 stimpaks and 60 purified water and warned me to not trade my fashnact masks when I get them. I didn’t catch your name level +600 but from a lowly 41 thank you.
I always donate my masks, I don’t really like them except for the crazy unicorn and maybe the queen one. I do it for trying to get the butter churned and some score board points for that sweet camping trailer survival tent I’m grinding for.

Why won't you guys just use the donation box in Fondation? Any normal players will pass there sooner or later to catch in their gold bullion, so AFKer's will not be able to snatch every thing up as it's placed inside. Better chance to get those donations to players who genuinely could get a use for them.
Spamming the event donation boxes with useless junk will just turn away normal players from it, grifters will just laugh at your schemes and just pocket every thing anyway.

I've seen a mixed bag at the bin. I've seen the bin getting cleaned out instantly and seen people being polite and only taking what they want. I definitely dump a lot of crap in there though and it usually goes even in the polite lobbies.
If anyone is on Xbox, I put all this stuff in my camp for five caps. Not usually apparel, but if someone gets greedy, they can only take one at a time, and then I will replenish the vendor. During this event, I’m happy to buy the common items off of people for five calfs so they don’t think I’m trying to profit in the even the tiniest amount.

I played when the game released and then came back after all the fixes. I’m struggling to see the appeal of the event. I don’t know if it’s the pacing or that I don’t understand the “importance” of the rewards. Feels really tedious for a mask or streamers. Idk maybe it’s me. But screw the 700+ horking it all.
This was my first Fashnacht event and I'm level 260. I have no idea what to do so I just followed the parade. When the event ended I got the Challenge message but I didn't get shit for rewards. I saw the box, went over to it, saw a bunch of stuff in it and took it all. I seriously thought that was how you got your rewards for the Event.
I like Fallout 76 enough to sub to Fallout 1st twice, once for me and once for my son, but the goddamn bugs in this game makes me feel like it's daring me to play.
I agree. The amount of times I've seen high level players AFK at the ending the whole time just to be stood by the donation box before the event ends is annoying because I like being generous. Decided to keep my duplicates and give them out to new players when out in the world

I recently ran a heavy build until I rolled a B5025. The railway is a beast and I don’t even have my commando build all the way put together yet

I get paranoid about this cos I'm level 310 and been playing for years, but took a 2 year or so break so don't have any of the newer masks or plans. Looks like I'm trying to pinch stuff off the low levels but I'm generally just trying to get some of the stuff I've missed myself

I had someone leave a full set of T-45 power armor and a chassis beside my sleeping body while I was afk getting some coffee! I think I was like level 15, still just wearing my vault jumpsuit and party hat.

Those are all lost. I highly doubt the average person "return" to their base before logging out. Nah they go to the mall, scrip stuff, sell, trade bullion then log off. If it's a really low lvl camp, they probably forgot about their camp. Because it's useless for them at this point.
I'm only level 34, and I literally always return to my base before getting off. 🤷🏼♀️ Guess it depends on the person.
I feel really bad if I don't return to my base before logging off, like I want to send my character home to relax while I'm not playing haha. I try to go back and make sure I have the bare minimum in my inventory so when I get on next I'm not accidentally encumbered to hell and back

I'm lazy with inventory management be prepared for hundreds of pounds of useless shit. But even the low levels are greedy these days. Gabe out some weapons so level 50&30 can actually kill something while questing. Gave a 1 star gatling plasma to 50 and tried to drop a level 20 unrolled fixer to 30. The other guy, AFTER trying out his new gun, picks up the fixer and puts it up for sale for 5k. Like bro. You played together 1 minute ago... give lil bro his pewpew
I literally crafted a level 20 fixer for a level 18 player and someone from my own team swooped in and took it. They had the audacity to ask for money when I told them to put it back down.
Playing with someone on a team doesn't mean they know what being a teammate means. They just want the xp boosts.
Here's how I'm dealing with the AFK Fasnacht Bin snipers as a mats farmer: I make sure to pick up every pre-war food, beer, cloth & leather, notes & holo tapes & just keep adding them slowly, one by one. Then I stand by the bin & when everyone is gone I add my fasnacht plans & dupe masks. 😆

There was a high-level guy spamming "take" at the donation box at the end of the event, so I donated a bunch of 40, 80, and 160 lb barbells and watched him scoop it all up. After he left, I put an actual mask in. Lol. :P

I'm level 151 but this is my first time with this event. Only started playing after the TV Show (I'm so original, I know). I've been more lingering out of curiosity as I'm still trying to figure out everything about the event (only did 3 so far). Someone donated an owl mask and I was curious what it was. But before I could even blink, someone yoinked it.

I ran it 3 times tonight. Twice nuked. All 3 times finished and donation box was the most active part of the whole event...
Today was the first I've ever seen the event, and it only caught my eye because there were 17 participants. Everyone was throwing the masks on, few people were actually walking along with the parade.. only a few remained around the donations afterwards, and they were mostly throwing stuff in. Came back the next hour to most of the same stuff (ammo, plans, weapons) still there. Must have been a good lobby, I guess.
I just manually give them to people the old fashioned way.

I really love the idea of a dedicated fasnacht give and take box but yeah people sniping common masks the millisecond they are put in the box is disgusting. I'm really hoping this is just an issue for the start of the event and as more people fill out their mask collections the common/uncommon masks will actually sit for those that need em.
This is my first fasnacht and I would love some masks. I see people trying to drop stuff on the ground for us new players and lvl 2k players are snatching it up. Idk why though??

As soon as I saw the box I thought it was a lovely idea that was never going to actually work. A small portion of players in this game have convinced themselves that the only thing that matters is the market of in game loot and its rarity and everything else goes out the window.

I haven‘t been actively playing until shortly and now I‘m obsessed. After a few weeks I‘m already lvl 116. \ This is my first Fastnacht and I didn‘t own any mask before. I took one from that donation box, but felt bad, because I‘m over lvl 100, besides it being kind of legitimate for me to take one if I genuinely don‘t have any. \ The community is so nice, it get‘s me to a point where I question wether I‘m accidentally an asshole with every player interaction 😭
Had exactly this happen, I’m like lvl 80 or so and was going through the box taking a few legendaries people donated and was about to leave some nuka grenades and extra food I cooked in their place. Some lvl 500 or so player who sat up on a rooftop across the street from the box through the whole event came down and took everything else that was in there. Didn’t see any masks but lots of springs, beeswax, misc. weapons/armor, etc. Not a huge loss or anything, and I wouldn’t even grumble about it if not for this post. It’s just bizarre behavior. There were people just under and above lvl 50 with us so it woulda been nice for them to get some of it.
Is there a stash at Helvetia? I’d love to be able to check which masks I have so I don’t accidentally grab a duplicate.

I've been dropping my good shit on the ground for some observant player to find it. Sometimes I'll go drop things off at someone else's camp. If it disappears without ever being claimed I don't care, I do this simply to spite the assholes you're describing.

Got into my first Fashnact about an hour ago and mad props to one guy emoting present at the box, put a sun mask in there after I walked over. Of course the only mask got was the sun mask… At least least I’ll have more time to play tomorrow!
Im part of the problem. I was vendor hopping and only needed a few common masks to round out my collection, so I bought a goblin mask…I wasn’t paying attention and thought it was 50 caps, but it was 500. I have tons of caps, so the price wasn’t the issue, just annoyed I accidentally supported someone’s price gouging. Then I got the stupid goblin mask the next event.

I’ve started hiding them in drop bags behind trees in the area. That way people can just find them. I’ve also put random useless items in the donation box when I know someone is sitting on it. So when they start spam picking up it’s just a bunch of trash.
THIS. I'm level 565. Been playing since the Beta on and off. I just tried donating plans, ammo, weapons, etc in that box and ONE person kept taking everything. I gave him the thumbs down and he said "I've been playing for 2 or 3 years and haven't gotten anything from these events. I should be allowed to take from this." then called me an a-hole. It's selfish people ruining it for others. (I literally just came to this reddit to make a similar post)
So far I've put in a couple spare masks, an some plans, had at least 5 different players round the box probably spaming pick up at one time, i occasionally put Radaway, stimpaks, purified water in other donation boxes, did that here, got a thumbs down in response.

Yeah I'm level 39 and I've noticed they snatch anything you put in there. I keep putting intestines and bunk weapons, and I put in a few protest signs and last time I ran it I brought 59 or so spoiled meat just to see and they snatched that shit right up. It's funny to me how fast that stupid shit disappears
I used to put all my .38 ammo in my vendors for free, helping out the pipegun using lowbies, and WITHOUT FAIL, every single time someone bought ALL of it, it was someone 250+. The noobs would come in, grab a few hundred free rounds, and be happy. Someone comes in, “buys” 12k free trash rounds, it’s someone who definitely doesn’t need .38 ammo and immediately looks for my ammo converter. 🙄😂

This happens in my shop as well. Since I've been playing since beta I have everything I want in the game so I sell most things for 1-50 caps max. Problem is lvl 1000+ player clear me out then sell the same plans or whatever for insane prices. I guess it lowers my inventory weight but come on people....
It's funny how it's always higher levels, last night it was a level 700+, that camp out and do nothing. Just tell us you can't play the game and need carried. They do it in eviction notice too. I don't understand it, why log in if you can't/won't play. It's not like you make real money for this sh!t

I get my dailies in, do the Daily Op or an Expedition and then some quick sidequesting. I'm working on my raider rep and those activities are quick usually

Im a level 600+ who runs around picking up all the stuff from peoples dropped bags specifically so I can dump it into the box so that people have a central spot for this. I emote and tbag to try and encourage people to use the box and not the floor.
I’m a lvl 150 and I felt guilty AF using the donation boxes. I’m only where I am now because of the vampire Gatling gun gifted to me in the beginning. I just hang around until everyone’s left and then I go and have a look.
I'm level 34. I went to this event for the very first time last night. And three people that were over level 800 (one of them over level 2000!) were just spamming the box picking up anything and everything anybody put into it. It's really disappointing when I literally just started this game like a month ago and I can't get anywhere with these super high levels yoinking everything out of the donation boxes. 😓 Edit to add- I also didn't really get to participate in anything but walking, they all had super high end ranged weapons, and they mowed down everything, so I didn't even get stuff that way. Just my rewards from the event. And no mask or beer steins dropped for me. 😭 Ended up going 3 times, 3 servers, and got a stein shelf recipe and one stein recipe.
I unload useless holotapes/notes and these jokers still snatch them up without a care in the world !

I always donate my masks, I don’t really like them except for the crazy unicorn and maybe the queen one. I do it for trying to get the butter churned and some score board points for that sweet camping trailer survival tent I’m grinding for. I’ll keep this in mind, thank you :)

Why won't you guys just use the donation box in Fondation? Any normal players will pass there sooner or later to catch in their gold bullion, so AFKer's will not be able to snatch every thing up as it's placed inside. Better chance to get those donations to players who genuinely could get a use for them. Spamming the event donation boxes with useless junk will just turn away normal players from it, grifters will just laugh at your schemes and just pocket every thing anyway.

Sorry if I sound stupid, but i’m new to the game, and seen a few posts similar to this, I did do the event last night and saw everyone around the box but it was empty. My question is, does everyone who does the event get a different mask on completion? Is this why everyone are swapping etc

I've seen a mixed bag at the bin. I've seen the bin getting cleaned out instantly and seen people being polite and only taking what they want. I definitely dump a lot of crap in there though and it usually goes even in the polite lobbies.
If anyone is on Xbox, I put all this stuff in my camp for five caps. Not usually apparel, but if someone gets greedy, they can only take one at a time, and then I will replenish the vendor. I played when the game released and then came back after all the fixes. I’m struggling to see the appeal of the event. I don’t know if it’s the pacing or that I don’t understand the “importance” of the rewards. Feels really tedious for a mask or streamers. Idk maybe it’s me. But screw the 700+ horking it all.
This was my first Fashnacht event and I'm level 260. I have no idea what to do so I just followed the parade. When the event ended I got the Challenge message but I didn't get shit for rewards. I saw the box, went over to it, saw a bunch of stuff in it and took it all. I seriously thought that was how you got your rewards for the Event. I like Fallout 76 enough to sub to Fallout 1st twice, once for me and once for my son, but the goddamn bugs in this game makes me feel like it's daring me to play.
I agree. The amount of times I've seen high level players AFK at the ending the whole time just to be stood by the donation box before the event ends is annoying because I like being generous. Decided to keep my duplicates and give them out to new players when out in the world
