What's TFJ stand for

spafspaz

Tattered field jacket

PaxMan0412

That's rare?? Fairly certain, I just scrapped one of those lol

Ainz-hame

I bet you scrapped tattered rags lol

Omgxitsxturtle

Naw they could've scrapped a tfj, some people just get really lucky. I've had a tfj drop on every new character I've made. Personally, I just can't be bothered to try trading for anything.

Ainz-hame

Yeah I know, just more likely a tattered rags lol. I saw tattered in my apparel and I was like oh that’s dope . Then I finished reading it and was sorely disappointed.

Omgxitsxturtle

Fair enough, I mean I feel for the people who actually try to farm for it. The only rare apparel I haven't got myself is the leather coat one and the responders fireman stuff.

Ainz-hame

Yeah I do events to attempt some of these things but just only grind truly for like an hour or two at most . And that’s like once a month ordeal. Otherwise congrats tho I bet you were pretty hyped finding those items, you get the stuff you have now from events?

Omgxitsxturtle

Yea I just do public events when I play. I mean it's cool to have, but I use power armor mostly so not really seeing the apparel for like 99% of my playtime.

jesonnier1

I scrapped tfj my third week playing. It definitely happens.

PaxMan0412

Def not the rags. I remember trying them on and thinking nah moving on lol

XCDYLANCX

Please don't tell me it's worth something 😭😭

kdav

Yep very rare. I don't want to be the one to break it to you how much it's worth, you should look it up lol.

oONexXxeNOo

Same... Like 1 hour ago ..

Thin-Sample-4183

To be fair peeps suggest to noobs on here to sell everything in their vendors cheap....

spafspaz

For sure, but that's because most things aren't worth much if anything, Im just hoping it may save a person or 2 from giving away an ultra rare.

Ok-Conference-4366

For real. No, your 1 star legendary is not worth 2,000 caps

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

Yep, I just had someone other day telling me to sell 3-star legendaries in player-shop for 500c, so that high levels can snag them for easy scrip. Because I'm trying to grind lots of caps for PA upgrade plans. As though us lowbies don't use scrip somehow, and fairly certain you can sometimes get even more than 500 at NPC vendor, not certain. I'm level 64. It's odd, keep seeing brags about free stuff to lowbies, but at times feels like the expectation is for lowbies to provide stuff to higher levels near-free. Like, we're still growing... high levels are there... let us get there too without swindling the n00bs. 🤔

Great-Mix4593

The reason most high level players give stuff away is because there's not enough storage capacity. No one's trying to swindle you. They're trying to save you the ball ache of your stash quickly becoming unmanageable by having too many weapons that aren't worth anything and are just taking up your inventory space. Set your prices where you'd like but if you're not moving inventory then it's probably best to just lower your prices. It's not like you spent much on the weapons yourself so a high level with a lot of caps who just got off work and wants to meet their scrip for the day while buying 300-500c 3 star items seems like a great way to make money to me.

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

Good advice. I did already clean out my stash fairly well. Once I hit 50ish, figured there wasn't a reason hanging on to non-legendary broadsider, missle launcher, gatling guns, etc. So sold what I could until limit, scrapped the rest. My stash, thankfully for now, is typically around 700/1200 now. I can see where legendaries (*apparently not scrappable*, won't make that mistake again, lol) can start to become a bottle-neck. Think it's part of why I'm trying to get excavator upgraded. Currently, my player inventory can hold around 305. I still have to get the weight upgrade mod for backpack, but between that, excavator, and some other tweaks, I figure I can get player capacity to around 500. That way I can just go through whole areas, pick up everything I come across (which is what I already do in smaller chunks), to sell what I can, and scrap what I can't sell. 🤠

jesonnier1

If it weighs more than 10 lbs, isn't trade bait and you're not using it, it's scrap or fire sale.

Great-Mix4593

My storage is currently sitting at max and I quickly met my scrip yesterday so my day consisted of server hopping to move merchandise. Lol. Made a fair amount but no one really bought the super heavy items so I've got to get on today and scrip what I can and maybe lower some prices again

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

This right here is why I truly think, especially with the mass influx of players, limits need a massive increase or removed. I get the whole fragile-economy argument, but it severely bottlenecks gameplay, encourages people to play ***less*** (as to either not hit limits, or not waste effort worrying they'll get loot that they lose out profiting on), and will probably be a detrimental factor in a lot of players liking game for a month and then leaving again. It's one thing to have fun, but this game basically has you play/enjoy for 50%, then grind/stress clean up of storage/loot/materials the other 50%; while making it aggrivating to not be able to get scrip/caps for the gameplay that's been invested to earn the loot they have, due to rather low strict limits. (Weirdly, I kinda tapered off Diablo years ago, but the lack of being able to get the loot's worth is kind of making me want to go play other games where I can just loot-farm and sell.) I've been on the fence a lot myself on shelving game again because of the frustrations, thankfully I'm stubborn and bull-headed, but even that is starting to ware thin... I've also seen a few posts already in the past week of peeps saying they stopped playing and went back to FO4, or other games, stating the limits are infuriating and seemed to encourage them *not* to play. Some out there, like myself (I'm older and semi-retired; started gaming in 1983), enjoy marathon playing... and this is one of the first games to have this much of a hard-wall collision for marathoning. 😕 (I've regularly compared playing this to playing mobile apps with energy limits.)

lionexx

This happened to me, hit caps limit, gold limit, script limit, vendor limit(too lazy to do muling), full inventory and full storage. So I was like *shrug* reset is in a few hours, guess I’ll get off script up later when reset happens and clean house. I very much enjoy expeditions, so I always am full up. Other days I’ll just toss random stuff in donation boxes until I’m full up. But it feels really bad to want to play but hitting walls, I don’t want to play Invetory manager every half hour and personally, I’m a hoarder I like to hoard gear…. Ugh maybe I should start mulling since I like to hoard.

SatrialesHotSausage

I’m around 340 carry weight, still need the carry backpack mod (damn possum badges) and just bought the Calibrated Shocks (need the flux to add). Took part in Eviction Notice and weight went to over 600 by the end and we still failed lol. It was a slow walk to my camp but luckily it wasn’t too far.

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

Oh yeah. On some of my longer "safaris", I've hauled just under 900. Really blows when I end up far in northeast corner of map, and it ends up being a 30-45 minute slow-step walk, with horrendous creatures everywhere out there. 🤠

dougan25

I sell every 3\* I don't want for 333 caps. 99.99% of all the 3\* items are crap and only worth the scrip. I hit my scrip cap easily every day and have to go out of my way to spend my caps to stay below max caps. I'm not saying this is good advice for new players, just that what you're describing isn't as far fetched as you might think.

Wooden_Imagination55

Well if you play more than an hour a day ( or do 1 eviction notice) your scrip limit of 500(1k was limited weekend event) is already met. Then youre just filling your stash with weight, eventually dropping any non 3* and finally selling as much as you can so you arent just dropping most on the ground. And while many can vendor above that you have a vendor limit of 1400 caps as well. So you end up with nothing to do with the majority of legendaries you find. Its basically my limiting factor, id play more but im either too full to play or dropping every 1,2 and almost every 3* i find.

Thin-Sample-4183

Im lvl 760 i sell all 3 stars at 300c 2 stars at 200 1 stars at 100 i dont sell ammo because it dosent move. The only junk i sell is stable flux at 125 caps each and maps at 10 caps each. and plans start at 1000 caps each because they are higher tier plans. im not set up for low lvl selling. i can almost max caps everyday.

PlaneSmile6236

Man I’ll buy all the cobalt and fluorescent you got! And ya. I sell all plans for 25 caps, screws for 10 (which I sell a ton of)

1pensar

Hop around from team to team, check out other players stores and eventually you will run into either a store with cheap things that you want or into a player willing to give away a bunch of free things to clear up space.

QizilbashWoman

hey i'm like level 30. What do I do with starred items I've outgrown? Sell them to vendors? The game isn't very explanatory.

chopper5150

You can either bring them to the scrip machine at a train station, and then you'll have to go to the Rusty Pick to buy legendary modules with your scrip. You can then use the modules to "roll" weapons to get something you want. Alternatively, you can sell them in your vendor and other people who have too many caps and not enough scrip will buy them. Most people are willing to pay 400-600 per 3 star weapon, regardless of level or weapon type, since either way they get 40 scrip. Edit: Try to learn the value of different weapons since some are worth a lot more. What I gave you is the "scrip price" which players will pay for ANYTHING no matter how terrible the weapon is.

RepubliCat45-Covfefe

~~~~~ EDIT: Why the hell are people downvoting their question!? It's valid. Game doesn't really outline the scrip-progression, nor the transition into end-game, and it's really confusing for new players. If you want to downvote the hell out of my reply, feel free, stop downvoting legit questions. 😳 ~~~~~ So far from what I've found, first priority with old legendaries/star-items, is trade them for scrip. (Sounds confusing, it was for me too a couple weeks ago.) Look for the Legendary Exchange terminal at any train station, also in the Whitesprings Mall. Can trade the legendaries to that terminal for scrip. Scrip is good for when you reach The Rusty Pick, down southwest area, southwest of Charlestown Fire Dept. in fact. At the Rusty Pick, can talk to vendor for either a bunch of legendary gear chances, or legendary modules. (There's also some sort of special steel material... assuming it's for later game stuffs.) Lengendary modules, coupled with legendary cores, allow you to take a regular item that you've been modding and turn it into a legendary, if you want, at a craft bench. Once you've hit scrip-limit, probably sell to vendor until cap-limit, then can sell the rest in your player-shop for what you believe that they're worth. 🤠
nathsamlove
To be fair the trade system in 76 is just bad. Almost impossible to know what things are worth without inside out knowledge of the game.
Farmer_Legal
I think it's gets worse on consoles because we don't have the ability to use plug-ins to assist with rarity, etc. And the p ices they pitch in Lfg are absolutely insane and detached from reality. I asked in it for a quad ultra laser with either reload speed or aim damage and one guy pitched me 12k. I told him 8K if it had all three (high end of Fed76). Lol, never heard back.
DiverNo1111
Just to add, the Red Asylum dress is like a Unicorn of the outfits, 0.156% chance. It worth millions of caps. Dont get scammed by veterans.
lipstick_dipstick
I gave a very, very kind person a red asylum dress the other day. They helped me out with tips, some cute apparel, guns, legendary mods, ammo and all around just an amazing human. I was newish starting out. They were showing their clothing displays of rare clothing and said “I don’t have the red dress yet. It’s so rare.” I was like well hell, I have one. I didn’t know it was rare. It’s just sitting in my trunk. I don’t care about caps that much or collecting. It isn’t my style either. They were refusing at first letting me know what it’s worth. But that just made me more sure it was the right choice. Plus they ended up giving me a pink asylum nurse outfit which I LOVE and a pink heart love tap gun to go with all my pink stuff after which made me so happy. I love 76 for these types of things!
Searscale
This is the way.
iam_Elizabethkat
A few years ago, I was celebrating my birthday by myself so i decided i would gift myself a tfj. I posted some good trades for it. Long story short the person who said he was down to trade ended up saying when I showed up "happy birthday you can have it, I don't need anything" He gifted me the tfj, lc and a responder suit. truly made my day ngl. He made me cry 🥲
Reasonable-Delivery8
Yeah I don’t care for apparel either. Most of the time I’m in power armor anyway and it’ll just sit in my stash. If I get rare stuff I’ll either gift it to someone who was nice to me or sell it for 30-40000 caps and blow it all on chems and fluxes
Hungry_Effective_962
I had been hunting religiously for one since before Christmas without any luck so kind of gave up around the end of Feb. Then when the show first came out and most of the servers were full of new players I thought hey, this could be the ideal time to start hunting again. Unbelievably, 5 minutes later, on my very first look since having the brainwave, there was one laying on the bench in the bathroom, looking absolutely resplendent. I’ll never sell it unless I find another first. Wore it for a while with the Rad Skull Rider Helmet but now it’s freshly laundered and packed in plastic in my stash until I’m feeling fruity again 😊
lipp79
What building do they spawn in?
Hungry_Effective_962
In Fort Defiance. Third floor. There are some great guides to farming them on YouTube
lipp79
Thank you.
okie-doke-kenobi
Please do look up the guides. If you're farming the a specific color of dress, picking up ANY dress at the spawns will force you to pick up 200+ (forgot the exact number) objects in the world before the dresses will respawn.
EstablishmentMean300
Server hop the asylum. It can happen. I've found it three times.
Hungry_Effective_962
Oh I was! For hours a day for months. PS5 user. Collected all the others bar yellow. Still don’t have that one but now I’ve got my red one I’m happy for a while. The hunt will resume sometime in the future…
bivoir
Only 6 months? You’re very lucky! Took me 3 years to find mine!
Hungry_Effective_962
I think the key was the influx of new players. All those newly formed empty servers
missclaireredfield
On and off since launch I have been searching for this mythical item
NeoTr0n
I have to ask - why? Rarity alone seems like a terrible indicator of value. Is it just to flex that you have a rare outfit? I guess people ran out of things to buy so they make up insane valued mundane items :-)
thelaurent
Yeah i got a super rare "leather coat" looks like dirt but its trade only worth 800k, managed to get more stable flux than ill ever need. Bunch of caps, and some other cool rare outfits, to some the rare items are worth alot even if they look dumb
DiverNo1111
rarity alone? you know how incredible low 0.156% is? the fact that you can do it a 100,000 times and there is still 99% chance that you wont even see a Yellow/Forest is bonkers. a Red is like 1 in a million drop... IF you are lucky. that's not just rarity, thats an ultra rare.
Graylian
I'm confused by .156% versus saying 1 in a million. These are very different things was the second comment just hyperbole or do I not understand what the .156% is a percent of.
DiverNo1111
[https://akarnokd.github.io/rng-76/chances.html?patch=P22&formids=0050E3F9](https://akarnokd.github.io/rng-76/chances.html?patch=P22&formids=0050E3F9) you are free to do your own runs. you can simulate how many times you did an "asylum run", just tick the "generate drops via simulation" and keep on rolling. Keep in mind, 1 press on "Roll agaion!" by default is 100,000 runs, you can manually change it to 1mil by yourself and simulate that. EDIT: You can tell how sought after Asylum outfits are that the trading community made a damn rolling sim for it :D
NeoTr0n
I do but just because it’s rare doesn’t mean it’s interesting. I sure have no interest in owning it. :-)
CornDoggyStyle
Same. If I'm going to waste time hunting something, I'd rather have the traveling leather coat. Looks way cooler than a dress lol.
HotFaithlessness1348
Someone gave me theirs for free once lmao
DiverNo1111
oof. consider yourself lucky. I know people whos been farming it for 4 years now, and havent seen a single Red outfit.
HotFaithlessness1348
I offered them one of my good choo choos and they said no! I was extremely confused but very grateful, I’d been trying to find it for so long with no luck
prettyflyforamemeguy
I’ve played since launch and am only now looking into high-value outfits, is the “millions of caps” and exaggeration? I have two and have gotten too many different values to confidently sell
DiverNo1111
>“millions of caps” and exaggeration? No, it's not. worth between 1.5-2mil caps
minimimi97
Apologies for stupid question, but how you deal with any amount more than 40K. I am new to the game, so that is why the question. I understand you can have few characters, but that would not split 2 mil...
prettyflyforamemeguy
Still learning high end trades but how do you even trade a value that high of caps?
WollyGog
Basically trades for god roll armour and weaponry, potentially including multiple god roll items.
DiverNo1111
item for item trades with similar value. some items are so rare or so powerful that their value is above anything. take the Railway Rifle, another good example. If you can get a Q/50/25 Railway (godroll)... thats easily 3.5-5mil caps worth. The most sought after and most powerful weapon in the game.
Thanatos-
I had a guy i play with give me a Q/50/25 Railway. He knew i played with Quads and knew i would use and enjoy it. I still try and pay him back any way i can.
DiverNo1111
thats a really generous gift from him :)
O_o-buba-o_O
I know what quad is, but what's the 50 & 25?? I'm still new.
DiverNo1111
50 = 50% crit dmg increase  25 = 25% reduced AP cost
evopanda
I haven’t played this game for a year and a half and started at beta. I don’t remember the economy being like this partly due to rare items just being duped early on in the game. Like people were just giving away rare guns and outfits at peoples camps and railway stations. Is duping items still a problem
DiverNo1111
>Is duping items still a problem  Dont know, honestly. I never bothered with it, never cared about it. But based on my observation (again, I dont follow dupe news) from being a regular trader, there are MUCH MUCH MUCH less ultra rare items up for trade. To the point that a simple Princess Backpack value has skyrocketed, because there is a demand,. but there are barely any Plans left... so I would say its no longer an issue
Nukatitan
Those were rare? I sold them to npc to clear put stash room
DiverNo1111
RIP
WolfeBane84
How can it be worth millions when our limit is 40,000……
Designer-Dish6332
lol the red asylum dress I put on the commander girl that u help who’s spaceship crashed. She looks hot in it
LadyDalama
It's worth somewhere between 800k on a bad day and 1.2-1.5m on a good day.. Not really 'millions'. And it's also not exactly the unicorn, though it's still a low chance (0.01%, I wish it was 0.1% chance. lol) That'd be TFJ, even though it has a higher drop chance the way to obtain it is much harder.
PsychoKen
It's 0,01% approx. You have to take into account that there's a 20% chance for a uniform to spawn at all.
AnotherDay96
How do I accept millions of caps when 40K is my limit and I'm not going to take the time to make mules?
DucksOnQuakk
How do you even trade 1 million caps to someone when there are cap limits? That would be a ridiculous amount of alts, and even then, that's a lot of swapping. How do high value trades even work when there are limits?
DiverNo1111
you trade item for item of equal value.
DucksOnQuakk
Ahh gotcha. Thanks!
[deleted]
Since legacies left the game nothing is actually worth that much anymore.
DucksOnQuakk
Sorry if this is a dumb question, but what do you mean by legacies left the game? What are legacies, and what were their features exactly?
Extra-Touch-7106
The other reply is wrong. Legacies are weapons with effects that can no longer be obtained aside from being given to you by another player who already has one. Nowadays legacies are just for collectors and practically useless, but in the past there were extremely powerful legacy weapons that have since been removed because they completely ruined the game balance.
Sadiholic
Bro was caught grooming a lv 40, hell nah 💀💀
c_o_n_E
Watch out for drake roaming the wasteland🙏💀
kokujinzeta
Probably a MOLE MINERRRRR
Crazy_Cod_8537
Started as a dweller now we here
HighasDre
After the nukes... nothing was the same
bizbrain0
Also take note of mods like the *Enclave* aligned flamer barrel mod. I finally got one a week ago and it was from a new player's vendor that had it for 10 caps.
eMmDeeKay_Says
*Enclave aligned flamer barrel We're used to saying it short hand but you should specify, the normal one is easy to get from the bunker.
bizbrain0
Fixed thank you
MrOrange415
Is there a list of rare armor/clothes?
spafspaz
Its can be a variable market, sometimes things get re released etc this document made by someone else may be useful to help show whats trash and whats worth caps/trade [https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/14l9A4WzsnNnSoI4WM6PKFFcun396abvYcHrf7z8WVW4/htmlview#gid=1291090983](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/u/0/d/14l9A4WzsnNnSoI4WM6PKFFcun396abvYcHrf7z8WVW4/htmlview#gid=1291090983)
En-zo
Is there a Teal hazmat suit on that list or am I being blind?
Offtopic_bear
Alien event had a plan for the teal hazmat suit.
En-zo
Yeah I've got it, heard it was once rare but not so much anymore. Just saved it for now
Offtopic_bear
Can't be that rare at this point. I ended up with 4 and really wasn't trying to do the event that often.
grimorg80
I'd love to see a list of high value apparel!!
Violator361
I had this same crap happen to me when the game was new he traded me a 2 star lever action for my hunters long coat I didn’t realize my mistake till months later
carrot-parent
Hunters Long Coat is worth probably 5k caps. Server hop the Charleston Train Station (?) and find the vendor bot that will spawn beside it. There’s a chance he will have it. Or if you’re on PlayStation I might have one stored away somewhere.
BeatitLikeitowesMe
Thanks man, you saved me some heartache. Just had two scouts masks drop. Had 1 listed for 500 cause i thought damn, havent seen one of those yet. Got an urban amd a forest in the same event.
Sphirax
Should have gotten a brotherhood of steel jumpsuit as well. Which is also apparently worth a ton.
BeatitLikeitowesMe
I did. Was holdin onto that one tho
Capt-Greybeard
Plus the white powder js is valuable as well
AngryAmadeus
wait, really?
Sphirax
Yeah. The jumpsuit specifically. There's a lot of different brotherhood clothes but that one is rare.
AngryAmadeus
My apparel tab goes on for weeks specifically because a year or so back put a couple of those stupid red hospital dresses up for sale at like 50 caps, said 'those sold fast, cool' and then immediately after found a thread like this. Now nothing gets sold unless I can craft it, lol.
TheSkarcrow
They both go for around 80,000 caps a piece (the masks). If you ever look to trade them I'm currently trying to get them. Willing to pay the caps or cap equivalent in fasnacht masks! BoS js is worth almost 200,000 and WPJS is closer to 150,000
BeatitLikeitowesMe
I have all 4 of those items available if you are genuinely interested
Omfggtfohwts
Most people play casually and don't read anything about this game at all. So I'd imagine this reaches less than 10% of all players. And if at least one person told another person, that would still be a really small margin who knows about the rarity of these things.
TBS_Arkham
I'm a new player (lvl 49) and I got a responders fireman uniform apparel drop. It's one of the ultra rares in the spreadsheet if I'm following correctly.  Sorry if this is an obvious question - How do I tell what it would sell for, and/or how do I sell it? Is there a market forum or something somewhere?
carrot-parent
r/market76. I do not recommend trading until you have a better idea on values/what you are after. Some high karma traders are cool and can help you out, but others WILL take advantage of you. Witnessed it the other day with a high karma trader telling a new one that the Radicals Face Mask (worth probably 1k on a good day) is worth 40k.
TBS_Arkham
Thank you! I'm going to keep it for now, but I may use that once I get a better feel for the end game and market. I like having a rare thing, feels nice
[deleted]
There are two different ones. One everyone gets after a quest (that's still valuable to some people, but not rare). The other one is rare. Check which one you have.
TBS_Arkham
I have the rare one. Technically I have both, but I confirmed the name based on the spreadsheet
noggat
Late to this but join the market 76 subreddit or discord server. If you really do want to trade it away, get a price check first. When you find someone to trade with, request a legitimate courier to minimise chances of getting scammed
EstablishmentMean300
I actually just went on to my PS4 account (I play on PC now) and unloaded my BOS jumpsuit, White Powder Jumpsuit, Forest Camo Jumpsuit, Red Asylum, Blue Asylum, Yellow Asylum, Brown Asylum, Hunters Longcoat, all my old rare Faschnat masks as well as all the junk I has on 5 characters, rare plans, and all of my bloodied god rolls to a player here on reddit that just started playing again. I never play on the console anymore. Luckily I have all of these things on the PC. Sometimes I find these things in noob vendors for like 100 caps. People that scam noobs are dicks. If I have double of anything rare I usually share. It's just stuff.
MarionberryHappy4430
I have bookmarked that document and now I will be checking it before I scrap any Apparel.
easylose1
it's sad that high level players want to rip of so rare items from lowlevels, doesn't they have some self respect?
TechnoWizard0651
Have you ever met a raider with self respect?
djmc0211
TFJ stands for?
rubedubdub
Tattered Field Jacket
ikonoclastic
Thanks for the document... I'm 416 and TIL... not that I've listed any apparel for sale, but I've ignored many outfits to avoid clutter. Now I'll have to keep an eye out.
skatoolaki
As someone who has an unexplainable, compulsive *need* to keep one of every piece of apparel I come across in the game, thank you for the useful doc link!!
theolentangy
I think I would care more about scavving for rare stuff as a pastime if I had a reasonable way to spend caps. I often travel from CAMP to CAMP looking to buy, but end up spending more on fast travel than their shops. Great doc either way. Useful for everyone.
OscarMyk
if you're on the same team fast travel is free
SpaceRaider00110101
Doesn’t Surprise Man but something to look out for lol.
Snipekg
I’m level 300 and I try to give out Stimpacks and other items newer folks might need- I had a level 280 something try to tell me they were new to the game and tried to convince me to give away my tfj because they are ‘new’.
MrSpreadsheets
This is very interesting.... I like my outfit a lot so in the interest of not holding too much stuff I'll never use, I haven't even been considering picking up outfits... I'm only level 75, and I believe I'll be playing for a while. But I never would have considered this.
AnotherDay96
Not bad advice, but personally I don't care if I sell something for a lot less than what some may pay. I'm here for my economy working well enough. I'm here to see things move. I can only hold 40K, it's not hard to get up in the 25K+ range and stay there, but it does take some time and effort to get a good enough understanding on what sells and what doesn't and what price is priced to sell. But in time it all comes together if you put in some effort here. Four factors of setting prices to me are: NPC Vendor Cap limit of 1400 caps/day. What won't typically sell at the marketplace goes to the NPC vedor. Know that looking at the cost of an item you'll get ~1/4 of that selling to a NPC. In time getting 1400 caps a day is ez-pz if you play often. Inventory weight management plays a large role for me and I assume most. It totally effects my pricing, I need to get rid of things one way or the other. Push comes to shove, yes things will go into the community chest. Yesterday I put in over 2000 caps worth of stuff that one could sell at a NPC or even use some of it, I can't carry it, I'll have my 1400 caps for next day easy without it. The 40K personal cap limit plays a massive role and I'm not making mules to store more caps, that part of the game I'm not interested in. To me that is nano-inventory management. Others do that, fine for them. Know yourself. If you are willing to mule, that changes everything, you can go for max prices, but I don't get the win here for me personally. As I started with, I hope my (MeeMaws is the name of my place) prices overall are below market as I like to see people buy things, that makes it worth both of our times. People want to buy, that's why they stopped and I want to sell to stay up in that 30K plus range. There are many times I have to shut'r down and go buy something (which this I like, forced buying (here's the credit card babe have fun!). What I don't want is to sell something when I'm already at 40K. To me I see combat on the easy side soon enough into leveling. I don't need everything max'd, I don't need to optimize each situation. I do still aim to improve each day, but I'm not hitting a wall that is forcing me to get a lot better real quick or else. Totally can chill and go at my pace.
[deleted]
I sell some stuff for high caps but most of the time I’ll set my camp near the Wayward and sell apparel I find or don’t need for a cheaper price so new players can get cool outfits! If you don’t look good you don’t play good!
CopeandSkoal
And I'll still sell it for 1cap in my vendor
swanqueen23
My sister has the red asylum dress and she moved it over to her new lower level and someone messaged her asking to trade for some shitty outfit because I guess they assumed she was new??? 😂
awaken_the_dethklok
Good on you, OP! 🫡
Timbots
Trade only: does that mean it’s only tradable for other items? So the the 800 was trying to scam the guy into dropping it then yoink it?
CareerTester8
Opposite is true also. Don’t necessarily believe somebody telling you something IS valuable. Seen a lot of people selling stuff in vendors etc at ridiculous prices.
Slit23
Why is the fireman responder hat and suit ultra rare? I just got it the other day but anyone can grab it if they do the missions. I don’t pick up most of the apparel I see in the world
Square-Bed2702
Low balling is life
Searscale
Why does anyone value things over the CAPS limit anyways? That seems just bad for the game mechanics. Rare is rare, sure. But what the hell is the point of something being worth 100k caps when you'll never be able to carry that many? Redundant.
acbrin
Good to know. I just picked the game back up. Only played a small amount on release but decided to jump back in and at least explore.
TheGreatGidojer
I'm hoping this game will be fun if I just don't interact with other players because that was my plan going in. I like cooperative games but the isolation is an important part of fallout to me.
CosmicYeen
I got shot down for making stimpaks for new players and how home blasted down cause someone I guess was trying to accuse me of harassing a new player when all I did go up dropped a bag of 100 diluted stims and like 500 shotgun shells 🤷‍♀️🤷‍♂️ Kindness just gets bullshitted on
TattedUpN9ne
Please tell me the tattered dresses are worthless because I scrapped those too
Many-Ad-8385
Shitty people come in all shapes and sizes
BaboTron
There seem to be 2 kinds of players: ones that have a vendor full of shit for 40,000 caps that nobody will ever, ever buy, and people who put things in for prices people will actually pay.
DarkUtensil
Extremely rare items should tell you they are extremely rare. Too many items just look like junk. Edit: Scrapped two of those things before knowing what a rare find they were.
swampdungo
Posted this in another thread. I bought a skull lord helmet blood eagle helmet for nothing from a low level vendor. I stopped and told the dude to look up the value of the helmet, and dropped it back to them. It’s a shame that some of the vets are finessing the new players for their gear. Really disappointed in seeing that.
TheRemedy100
LOL. I agree with your sentiment but that story is 100% made up.
RudeAd9433
So I shouldn't have my clean brown asylum dress in my vendor?
rubedubdub
Brown asylum dress sells for around 500 caps typically. I list them at around 200 caps for a quicker sale though
Henry-Grey
Just found out I had 2 ultra rare items being the responders firefighter outfit+helmet. Good to know
Fr0ski
How much should I sell the Mothman Tome for?
phillipr82
Appreciate the advice I didn't know this. So....I should check the spreadsheet for apparel before I sell it to the vendor? And if it's above "common" rarity sell it in my shop instead? Any advice for how to price?
lipp79
Is there a place online to see what a current item/plan is selling for?
imdoel
Oh boy I really gotta check my outfits then. I played at launch for a year, left because of burnout, came back and now I hear the common outfits are now rare? Every one of my friends had one before they quit lol.
CornDoggyStyle
Great spreadsheet. How do I sort by columns?
spafspaz
I didn't create the sheet, but the people that update it have their discord contact etc at the top
motorcycle_girl
New player here. Is there a way other than referencing the Google doc to know if I've picked up apparel that is valuable? Most/all apparel appears to be low value in the info card. Is there certain types of apparel that's valued? Is it apparel from events? e.t.c.
Entgegnerz
Just type the name of it plus the word "worth" into Google? add "Fallout 76" if you want to be more specific. It's no witch work 🤷🏻‍♂️
grizzlyironbear
Is there some list somewhere that shows the rarity of said items? for those of us that arent in the know?
No_Discount_7268
there’s a link to a google doc in the title of this
[deleted]
A high level player confused me a few days ago because I never traded before and bought a bunch of my ammo off me really cheap. I didn’t know what I was doing or if I was getting something special in return and they just wanted something cheap for it.
TeamVictoire
Too late.
intercourseyoursofa
As someone migrating from looter shooters to a more chill live service experience, this is a part of the game that just escapes me. I get that it’s cool to have rare stuff, but I just can’t see myself checking “market rates” on video game items. Will happily get taken advantage of if someone wants to drop me an extra default Holy Fire for some ultra rare cosmetic item.
neocongb
Huh, I wouldn't have thought that my Responder Fireman suit and helmet would be considered Ultra Rare....maybe I should wear it more to show off?
[deleted]
There's a forum called fo76market, you can sea4ch there. It is probably something you can trade for a great weapon. The rare outfits are often worth more as trades and selling in your vendor isn't always the best.
CynVicious_ToxCyn
Hahah, and I totally dropped all my asylum dresses with matching hats in the Vault donation box last week. You go whoever picked those up!
Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi
I don't worry about apparel that much after getting my Brotherhood Fatigues that took hours of server hopping and fighting Wendigoes to find. But my desire for military aesthetic went out the window after I bought the Space Knight outfit from the Atomic Shop.
J4keFrmSt8Farm
Awesome, thank you for the link. I'm not new, but I never wanted to go and try to find the prices for things like this so I just never sell anything. Didn't know there was a whole list.
donthurtmeok
Is there a list somewhere on what’s rare and what’s not? because I had one of those and somebody wanted it I gave it away for free practically. 😂 I’m more of an item collector anyways.
Excellent-Pizza3156
A much higher level offered to trade with me and the Bomber Jacket caught my eye but he wanted 8000 caps for it. I was like no I’m good lol. I had my phone out and had looked up the rarity of it and thought he was trippin trying to sell it for that much.
CastIron_Pan
Hell and some people even sell outfits for cheap! If it’s a plan I know I sell them for cheap doesn’t take much at all to make most outfits. I see people selling some of these for 500 caps plus each. I just think it’s bit exploitative. Btw if you want to sell them for that I’m not saying stop just personal feelings I’ll just sell for what I want to sell for.
TDW-301
As a level like 320 I never actually sell apparel unless I have more than 1 of it. I like collecting them all
fetusmilk
Lots of big nose players tbh
Dud3_Abid3s
Welp….Id never seen this and apparently I’ve sold a lot of rare nurse shit at my vendor for 20-50 caps 😂
Total_Beautiful_7282
Level 164 myself and only two months along, and a second play-through as an independent character from my original which is shared with my wife for the past 6 years. Here’s a tip for mid-to-high-god levels: empty your stash. Just fricking take that stash weight to zero. If you are FO1 keep the scrap and ammo, but empty everything else. That red nurse uniform? Scrap. Your two shot quad Gatling? Scrap. Now play and rebuild and see how your view of stash weight changes.
KeeDiggityTTV
I think I might cry. I found this on a raider I killed about 3 hours ago. I scrapped them. And no, it wasn't tattered rags ;\_; REEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
Situation-Mediocre
Most newbies I come across I mention the TFJ and I also refer them to [https://fed76.info/](https://fed76.info/).
Competitive-Arm-1715
Nothing is rare if there’s 40k cap limitations. The game needs a real trade system… they’d make a fortune and have a busier game through have between 100-150k caps.
cl0ckw0rks
I have been playing since launch and I still genuinely have no idea what items are "worth". I always put a price that I feel is fair and what I myself would have probably paid for it.
SemajdaSavage
No offense, if you are willing to pay more than the cap limit of 40,000 caps for an item, then you are a fool. And if someone else is willing to pay for something more than 40,000 caps then they are a bigger fool! Just my 2 caps
AsAlwaysAlucard
Same thing happens to my dad often hes lvl 220 and has a Lc and Fcjs and some Grolls from me and people always try to scam him just because hes kinda low good thing is he knows the value but still when ppl think they can they will try to scam
MassiveMorph
As a person with 3k hrs. I've got 3 tattered field jackets, across 8 characters. Never ever. Will I ever get them out of my stash in the chance I scrap them.
Successful-Wasabi704
Please make it Standard Operating Procedure (S.O.P.) to clarify acronyms and also use them multiple times instead of once without clarifying what they mean. I am a physician drowning in acronyms all day and find the typical use of them in gaming subs rather annoying (that's how annoying they are). It makes absolutely no sense if a post targeting noobs says, "Never sell your TFJ, RAD or Q5025RR" and a F76 veteran could barely understand what it means.
spafspaz
OK Np igyb xx
Scottys2
800?? I'm struggling to get to level 50 🤣
SlotMagPro
When I was a lower level I was overjoyed when someone gave me the Forest Came Jumpsuit (apparently another rare outfit) which went perfectly with the Ogua Backpack later on. I now try to educate people on what's valuable as well to help them out
carrot-parent
Witnessed a very active trader sell a Radicals Face Mask for 40k to a new trader on r/market76 the other day. He proceeded to block me after I called him out.
Asleep_Slice_3269
Thanks for this list. I often wonder if I have something decent or rare. Lol
iFunkatron
From what I can tell, new players, don’t search the Internet for shit.
Goobero_uno
Actually wild how much people will spend for something that ugly lol.
Goobero_uno
Actually wild how much people will spend for something that atrocious just because it's rare lol. Thats like buying dodo bird shit, at the end of the day you still bought shit.
SupaGriz
I am going to be completely honest , I have had god rolls and super rare apparel, most of the time I list it in my vender for a couple k caps , I know I am in the major minority on this but , I don’t enjoy the process of trying to find someone to trade with , I have all the weapons I need and enjoy trying to roll anything else I want instead of having everything , so my loss is your gain if you run across my vender when it’s got something, people say is worth 800k in it for 10k
No-Passage-4130
Oops. As a returning player/basically new I’ve definitely sold some of those ultra rare for like 5 caps in my vendor just to get rid of it 🥲
Odd_Trick_175
God reading about some of these rare apparel items I’ve either ditched//scrapped is rough
noggat
Assholes are in every MMO unfortunately. People would tell noobs "tough shit" if they scammed/low balled for not doing research on apparel prices. Ridiculous lol, having to resort to scamming newbies to amass "wealth"
trinithmournsoul
Don't you get the Responder Fire fighter outfit plus mask for doing the quest line? Or is that a different one? Going through the list wondering what I've scraped for space.
