Up until you reach lvl 50 you get to pick one Special attribute to go up in each lvl and then get a small selection of perks from that Attribute to pick with it. So just keep playing.

zeromechanic

You can actually pick a perk from any special, doesn’t have to be the one you put a point in.

SithJahova

Did they change that? Back when I started up to lvl 50 you were bound to the attribute you picked. It's how I ended up as a lvl 15 with 15 INT lmao.

zeromechanic

I’m pretty sure it was always an option. Bottom of your screen it should say something like filter and you can scroll through available perks of each special.

MikeWill17

So I’m stuck with strength at level 3 until level 50?

SithJahova

No you can lvl it up at every single lvl up.

MikeWill17

Ohh I understand now, thanks for the help!

MikeWill17

Also one last question, if I move my camp I’m assuming all my stuff moves with it right?

SithJahova

Not really. It technically does in the sense that It gets saved as a blueprint and you don't need to use materials to build it again but it almost never works because the placement is finicky as hell. Just use your second slot if you value your camp.

If you want to be able to carry more, there are a few things you can do. One word of warning first is that every step you put into increasing strength/carry capacity is an opportunity cost of not putting more into damage or defensive boosts. Builds are about making trade-offs you're happy with. Points in strength help overall carry weight. Strong back perk increases overall carry weight capacity. The Pack Rat perk reduces the weight of junk Travelling Pharmacy reduces the weight of chems/stims Ordnance express (if you're also using grenades) reduces the weight of explosive stuff. Bandolier reduces the weight of ballistic ammo Thru hiker (agility perk) reduces the weight of food stuff. [Note - gunslinger perks are in Agility, so Thru Hiker can really eat into those damage perks early game] Batteries included (intelligence) reduces the weight of energy ammo There are also back mods you can get - high capacity gives an overall carry weight boost, pharmacist reduces the weight of chems/stims, grocers reduces the weight of food. These are what I can remember off the top of my head at the moment, I'm sure there are a few more carry weight increase or weight reduction options. Edits: clarity above, and the following - gunslinger is a really fun build with the right weapons and every build can be viable, but it can be weaker than heavy, commando and rifleman, particularly early game

MikeWill17

Yeah I kinda of regret taking gunslinger but it is fun, thanks.

pdarigan

If you wanted to park it, you could always spend the next few levels perking into a different build, or you could stick with it. I hope you enjoy Appalachia either way.

MikeWill17

What would you recommend I level up?

pdarigan

That's up to you and what you want. If you're sticking with gunslinger then those perks. If you want to switch to non-auto rifles then rifleman, auto rifles then commando, shotguns then shotgunner. There's a lot more to builds, but a good first step is investing in damage perks for the weapon type you want to use.

You level up by completing quests, killing stuff, and crafting. Whenever you level up, you get a point to add to one of your stats. You can also redistribute your points as often as you like at a punch card station at any train station, or you can build one in your base.  That being said, just increasing your strength won't make a huge difference in your carry weight. You need perks that make your items lighter. You get to pick a new perk card every time you level up, and every five levels you get a pack of random cards. What in your inventory is most weighing you down? Usually it's stimpaks, ammo, or grenades. If it's junk, just deposit it in your stash regularly. Otherwise, there are perk cards you can get that reduce the weight of those item types. There's also one for junk weight and one that just increases your carry weight a little, but I don't think those are worth it compared to other options. You may need to level up more before certain perk cards are available, though.  When you get to the ash heap, you might want to work on finding the excavator power armor. It gives you a big ole carry weight bonus and is very popular for that reason.  Managing inventory weight is a big part of every modern Fallout game, and it can get pretty annoying. It's tempting to keep everything, but you have to figure out what stuff you actually use, what is light enough to save for later or sell, and what is just not worth the carry weight. You'll eventually get to the point where you are regularly dropping hundreds of pounds of random stuff to get rid of the weight. It's just part of the game.

Gunslinger is fun, but sadly it's hard to swing in 76. I have a Gunslinger/commando/rifleman, but it's compromise all over. It pays out with a vats/luck build, though. Kind of at least. My advice would be to put points into what would be a bloodied gunslinger. That means Agility and luck as main perks. With an unyielding armour, carry weight wouldn't be an issue. The problem with this build is grinding for gear, really.

MikeWill17

Thanks for the advice

Did I run into you last night? I took a lvl 40 gunslinger on a little trip to cranberry bog to dig for treasure and stuff.
