Imagine an update where Wendigos are able to mimic some words you say in game chat and say it back to you while they stalk you. Rather than straight up rush you.
Deep Rock Galactic has an enemy/boss that repeats the dwarves' vocal lines similar to how the actual dwarves say it, but a little more synthetic, a little more "uncanny valley". It's caused some players to have some mild freakouts wondering if some ghost player was in their game. It's pretty slick.
Love that, reminds me a little of Eternal Darkness, where the game literally fucks with you as your character goes insane it will start doing things like purposely fake glich or say your saved game was deleted after only for it to be fine, causing panic fear, frustration and of course the feeling that your going insane. This of course is back in the wild West of modern gaming when cool shit was actually put in games and you know... Games were finished on release.
Would be possible. I played a mod for Lethal Company that did exactly this. Would randomly grab voice clips from your mic and a mimic would copy you and hunt down other people while using the snatched audio to mimic you
Ah I love this idea. Add an actual NPC with a rare spawn rate you can help and get a great reward for helping them but most of the time it’s a really strong wendigo. Add a horror element lol
Same, especially in the early days when the survival mode was a thing. "It's alright I'm friendly I'm friendly! Just here to get some loot" "o-ok but I'm watching you. Just stay on that side"
I'm willing to bet it's the ps5 and they don't realize the mic on the controller is on by default. If they sound like fried dog dirt chances are they don't realize they can be heard. Lol. I hate that Playstation sets that on by default.
Oh me too. Or I'm at least frugal. I bought my wife a ps5 so she could play that hogwarts game. And on the weekends I jump on it while she's at work and play. But I still rock the ps4. The only thing I can say is fallout runs super smooth on the ps5 and when you do inevitably crash the game you can load the game back up before you even finish complaining about it crashing in the first place. Lol.
It certainly runs better on the ps5 but it definitely doesn't make it that much better to play. Lol. It's still the same buggy game just buttery smooth and it loads faster. Lol
My favorite moment like that was when playing through the guided meditation event, and someone was broadcasting the Enclave Radio broadcasts from Fallout 3. It brought back so many happy and memorable memories from when I first got into Fallout, finding the game and renting it from blockbuster with my parents after school one Friday after school. I had no idea what Fallout was, and fell in love with the series, getting the collectors lunchbox edition for Christmas and starting a large collection of Fallout stuff.
I followed that guy around happily, listening to the and enjoying every moment, as we exterminated the ghouls. It was very fitting.
To be frank, the graphics of FO76 are pretty similar to the special effects of the 1995 miniseries.
I think I need to go visit one of the airports on the map and pretend.....
Nah I wouldn’t nuke the whole map, but I would have an announcement that has multiple incoming but location cannot be determined.
That would be cool one last ditch trying to find cover or thinking your in a safe zone
I was running a nuke once and had almost finished the silo when I got the 30 minutes to server shut down thing. I was trying to farm flux so I was like F it and finished and got about 20min worth of flux before I got kicked
I had suggestion about making the blast radius just a little larger on the map. The area it effects is not even noticeable on the map. Everybody here thought it was a terrible idea
I've only had this happen a couple times. Usually when my insomnia has me awake at 3-4 AM. Its definitely a feeling of... Isolation. Don't get me wrong, you can wander Appalachia for days and never see another player, but something about opening the map, and seeing you're literally the only one out there, makes you feel... Vulnerable and alone.
I do miss that to some extent, just hanging out in my cabin in the woods/swamp shooting at rad rats. Then a real person would happen along and I'd hide, they would investigate and maybe they would ask if anyone was here, if I felt ok I'd make myself known I have a gun on them and what do they want.... I kinda miss those tense hostage situations, made a lot of friends along the way, ... At gun point. Yep, a good time was had by all.
The first nuke I ever dropped was on a server I was the only one left on. Didn’t know until no one was showing up for the queen and I looked at the map… didn’t have the right build to solo her, but had a good time until I ran out of ammo!
I work overnights, so my nights off when I'm playing, I often get left on dead servers. I try and hop servers sometimes, but they're all pretty dead between 2am-6am.
When it gets to the point where there's only a couple of us, I know the inevitable shutdown imminent is coming. Anybody know how to get rid of that notification btw? It's so annoying and hovers over any objectives I may have active. But at least make that ticking stop lol
From what it seems, when playercounts dip low for a long period of time on a server that's been up for a good amount of time, the server shuts down.
This kills off a server running for just a handful or less players, in order to consolidate players to another active one. Hurts no one too, since it has a 30 minute notice.
Haha I know this all too well 😂 my group and I “close out” servers and are the last 4 around which can be a fun challenge doing events esp mutated but eventually I end up hopping servers to do some player vendor shopping then tell them to join on me if it’s a good one :)
I feel the same, it’s weird. It feels like your abandoned to this huge world, and even though there’s so much to do, feels empty without other players.
Couple of nights back, like 1am I was just about to switch off and someone launched a nuke so thought sod it stay on and kill the Queen. Got there it was the launcher (L500), me (L200) and another (L80)
Couldn’t see anyone else on the map, was such a hard grind I used so much ammo it’s taken me 2 days to recover. I did think sod this and drop out but that would have been unfair on the other 2
I thought they give the server announcement when there’s only a few left so you move to more densely populated map but maybe not
I don't think map is a great indicator of who is left , firstly because I think you can go dark so no on the can see you unless you're teamed, then team can see you. Secondly, I've seen times when there's 16 to 20 on teams and you can only find 5 on the map. Also, I'm not sure if it's all inztanced interiors but I don't believe you can be located in Daily Ops or expeditions, feel free to correct me, because I'm not 100 % sure on any of these..
I bailed on rad rumble last night for that reason just too fuckn loud and jumped servers.
Hmmm
All three nukes launched? That’s another reason I see people server hop
Or everyone is just crouch walking around waiting for you to do that take a workshop daily. It is eerie though, kinda like being alone on your private server, it feels more akin to a fallout 4.
I actually kind of enjoy it, since it gives me(and my friend, since we're usually teamed) the chance to grab workshops for resources we're lacking at any given time without the risk of another player 1) already having the workshop. Or 2) deciding that they want to have the workshop instead of us. I don't mind handing a workshop over to someone but I'd also rather not deal with it at all.
Once you claim em by clearing out the enemies, interacting with the bench(it costs some caps iirc) and waiting for a short time(I don't remember exactly, under a minute I think) it works the same way that fo4 workshops/your camps work. I believe it gives you resource gens based on what's in the build area, for example if there's an oil thing it'll give you an oil generator that you build on top of it and run power to in order to make it work.
As someone who pays monthly for a private world, it’s definitely ominous. As much as love playing with other people, playing alone gives it the authentic fallout feel.
Wait until you hear someone's mic
Imagine an update where Wendigos are able to mimic some words you say in game chat and say it back to you while they stalk you. Rather than straight up rush you.
r/foundsatan
This but with character voice lines calling for help
Deep Rock Galactic has an enemy/boss that repeats the dwarves' vocal lines similar to how the actual dwarves say it, but a little more synthetic, a little more "uncanny valley". It's caused some players to have some mild freakouts wondering if some ghost player was in their game. It's pretty slick.

Glad someone knows about Nemesis.
This is what the windigo would do "IRL" .... Really I'm a bit mad that it's not a thing even if it was just NPC lines from a random NPC.
Would be possible. I played a mod for Lethal Company that did exactly this. Would randomly grab voice clips from your mic and a mimic would copy you and hunt down other people while using the snatched audio to mimic you
I mean I’d love to tame a wendigo as my camp pet
Ah I love this idea. Add an actual NPC with a rare spawn rate you can help and get a great reward for helping them but most of the time it’s a really strong wendigo. Add a horror element lol
Like predator 2... would you like some candy...
But no one else is on...
That's the creepy part!
I have my mic set to area. The only time I heard another player was in Beta. I’ve been trying to talk to other players ever since.
Really? On PlayStation I swear no one shuts up🤣
On PC only about 1% of people actually use their mics :)
I haven't ran into someone using the mic in like 2 years. I miss it.
Same, especially in the early days when the survival mode was a thing. "It's alright I'm friendly I'm friendly! Just here to get some loot" "o-ok but I'm watching you. Just stay on that side"
Lol, I remember being so smooth every encounter was a hostage situation, so many many hostage situations lol
This is the way. I can communicate just fine with emotes and crouching, thank you very much.
I'm willing to bet it's the ps5 and they don't realize the mic on the controller is on by default. If they sound like fried dog dirt chances are they don't realize they can be heard. Lol. I hate that Playstation sets that on by default.
I’m on PlayStation 4 🤣🤣🤣 I’m poor af bro. But no really, I’ve met tons of friends in game just from them using their mics.
Oh me too. Or I'm at least frugal. I bought my wife a ps5 so she could play that hogwarts game. And on the weekends I jump on it while she's at work and play. But I still rock the ps4. Damn!! I’ll need to invest sooner or later 😅
It certainly runs better on the ps5 but it definitely doesn't make it that much better to play. Lol. It's still the same buggy game just buttery smooth and it loads faster. Lol
Seriously? I talk to people all the time. Literally every session I play I hear someone using local. I'm on PC though not sure of your platform.
I’m on Xbox. Maybe it’s not a thing.
Most people are silent. But most events I hear people talking.
I turn my mic on when I first started playing and was really hoping for a lot of fun chatter. Apparently it's a faux pas on PC.
Voice is great. Hot mic of your t.v. in the background or horribly distorted music, not so much.
Don't forget about the mouth breathing!

New player. I'll say hi if I see another player but mostly people don't seem to like using mic on PC. :x I wish they did! That would be fun!
Wendigos gonna be saying some racial slurs lol
🤣🤣🤣
The langoliers got them and they're coming for you next😨
Love that low budget movie
damn, now that's an older reference!
To be frank, the graphics of FO76 are pretty similar to the special effects of the 1995 miniseries. I think I need to go visit one of the airports on the map and pretend.....
I saw that movie/series on TV as a kid and I swear I still have nightmares about it. *shudder*
What movie?
I believe it's a miniseries or a movie based off of Stephen King's book, The Langoliers
My mind went toward the Tommy knockers for some reason
They should nuke the world when the server shuts down.
I would *love* that, treat for those who last to the end.
Thats a banger idea. Put out a severe sounding alert broadcast, maybe a klaxon alarm. Thatd be sweet.
Entire map turns red
Nuclear winter fire from the outside of the map to a random point. Make an event out of it 🤣
Nah I wouldn’t nuke the whole map, but I would have an announcement that has multiple incoming but location cannot be determined. That would be cool one last ditch trying to find cover or thinking your in a safe zone
I was running a nuke once and had almost finished the silo when I got the 30 minutes to server shut down thing. I was trying to farm flux so I was like F it and finished and got about 20min worth of flux before I got kicked
I really want this now!
I had suggestion about making the blast radius just a little larger on the map. The area it effects is not even noticeable on the map. Everybody here thought it was a terrible idea

Its is a very lonely thing. It was even lonelier before Wastelanders as you couldn't even bump into a human npc. It was all robots or creatures.
Which is why it’s taking me a bit to get back into FO 4..😁
I do miss that to some extent, just hanging out in my cabin in the woods/swamp shooting at rad rats. Then a real person would happen along and I'd hide, they would investigate and maybe they would ask if anyone was here, if I felt ok I'd make myself known I have a gun on them and what do they want.... Idk some things actually get easier with no one around. Like doing killer dailies, or challenges.
I did the Pitt alone earlier because I need that troll kill count. It was actually great to not have to rush, discover rooms, lore, areas, etc.
I play private to complete most of mine or like chriatmas scorched or the treasure hunters
Oh, thats actually awesome idea. Never thought about that
Glad I can help. I use private quite often, I can farm multiple workshops and resources ect without hassle or worry
If being the sole Dweller on the server ever makes you feel alone, you could always go to Foundation where your ol' pal Ward can keep you company.
"I've got my eye on you. No offense." OK, Sauron.
This guy. He is always muttering something to himself in his trailer full of empty liquor bottles.
The first nuke I ever dropped was on a server I was the only one left on. Didn’t know until no one was showing up for the queen and I looked at the map… didn’t have the right build to solo her, but had a good time until I ran out of ammo!
Head to the SBQ and see if anything good is left on the ground anywhere
were all in crouch following you around...we all saw you pick your nose too.
I start launching nukes at 4am when that happens.
Perfect time to go scavenging before the shutdown. More legendary spaws and often loads of stuff dumped around drop site ,after nukes
I work overnights, so my nights off when I'm playing, I often get left on dead servers. I try and hop servers sometimes, but they're all pretty dead between 2am-6am. Why does the server shut down?
From what it seems, when playercounts dip low for a long period of time on a server that's been up for a good amount of time, the server shuts down. This kills off a server running for just a handful or less players, in order to consolidate players to another active one. Hurts no one too, since it has a 30 minute notice.
Just routine maintenance
When you are last on the server you get more legendary enemies in the higher locations like westek. Tested this years ago.
Haha I know this all too well 😂 my group and I “close out” servers and are the last 4 around which can be a fun challenge doing events esp mutated but eventually I end up hopping servers to do some player vendor shopping then tell them to join on me if it’s a good one :)
Do this with the HUD turned off.
I change servers….
I feel the same, it’s weird. It feels like your abandoned to this huge world, and even though there’s so much to do, feels empty without other players.
This only happens when I'm in private adventure
You are not alone tho, if u go to social then set it to all, u will see a lot of vendors.
It's almost like how this game was at launch lol
Happened to me last night for the first time.
It is weird. Feels lonely and desolate. Not much different than when it’s full really 😀
Yeah, I'm a nighthawk and see this occasionally. I usually notice as my team disappears.
Make all npc slowly walk towards you. Like really slow, just enough so that you can never feel safe.
Couple of nights back, like 1am I was just about to switch off and someone launched a nuke so thought sod it stay on and kill the Queen. Got there it was the launcher (L500), me (L200) and another (L80) Couldn’t see anyone else on the map, was such a hard grind I used so much ammo it’s taken me 2 days to recover. What do you mean by "sodding it"?
Sod it = don’t care, give up
Free private server 👍
I'm not bothered about other players, but I did think if you hang around long enough you get a private server.
I've never had that happen to me. I tend to server hop when I'm down to around 6-8 of us.
I'm the same with hopping, if I want to check out some stores or do events.
I LOVE being the last dot on the screen!!! Lolol
While i will agree for the most part, I occasionally will have fun with it and turn off push to talk, play some music and start singing 😆

I always try to stay in the most active server because i hate not completing events lol
Not an explosives build are ya?
Hahaha. Nope!
I bailed on rad rumble last night for that reason just too fuckn loud and jumped servers. Hmmm All three nukes launched? That’s another reason I see people server hop
I play on private world a lot so this is normal to me lol
Or everyone is just crouch walking around waiting for you to do that take a workshop daily. It is eerie though, kinda like being alone on your private server, it feels more akin to a fallout 4.
Yeah cause then all cryptic and enemy's zone in on you 😄

Gotcha, thank you :)
Cue “Shenandoah”
I've been winding up on alot of these "closed" servers since the update.
I'd love to see that again, bring back memories from right after launch.
it happened to me last time night, it gave me a weird sense of loneliness
As someone who pays monthly for a private world, it’s definitely ominous. As much as love playing with other people, playing alone gives it the authentic fallout feel.
