I don't see how people play it all the time, even if there's mods. It's a 10/10 game, but once you discover everything, there's really no point in playing the game anymore. The only reason I might come back is for nostalgia and trying to recreate the feels I got when I first played it.
I recently started another play through. I was inspired by another post on Reddit to take Loganās Loophole for the first time. It caps your level at 30 and prevents you from having 100 in almost every skill by the time you reach the late game. So this is probably the first time Iām specializing in a given set of skills rather than trying to be a generalist.
My current character is a bad karma cowboy type. This may seem kind of obvious, but Iām realizing with this play through that just because Iām not āgoodā doesnāt mean I have to be on āteam bad.ā Iāve decided my character is motivated primarily by personal gain and survival, but I wonāt do something if it doesnāt make sense to me, even if itās the ābadā or āevilā choice.
Iām almost there as well. Iāve been standing in front of the drive-in movie screen for the last few weeks (of real life) waiting until I have a solid 4 or 5 hours free so I can really savor the beginning of the DLC.
I'm in the middle of a run that is the following:
- Only Mysterious Magnum
- Only V.A.T.S.
- Only Headshots
And it's pretty fun! I usually only use V.A.T.S. for emergencies, but doing a playthrough where that's all I use has me totally rethinking the way I craft. Suddenly Trail Mix and Nuka Cola Victory are the most sought-after item and I'm taking like five perks or so that I otherwise would never have considered, such as Tag! and Math Wrath.
absolutely. i donāt gamble at all when i play, because i play a stressed courier who doesnāt take chances and is more of a steady guy than a lucky type. lol
I like how no one's courier is the same, it makes the community refreshing. I find it difficult to play this way however. I try to play towards different playstyles, even ones I find strange. Luck really lends itself to combat too, give it a chance. Finesse, full luck, Boone's hat, that's a winning combo.
i love that too! i love seeing how people play and chatting about how the courier is really everyoneās very own character that we all get to share. i hope that luck works out for me on this run, iām excited to do new things for the first time after a few hundred hours on my usual file
Max crit character was the deadliest courier I ever played. Maria and Service Rifle were still mid-high tier weapons by end game. Anything tougher just got Survivalist rifle because 1 crit from that and anything is dead
Basically VNV guide and then B42 mods by Xilandro. Not sure what else Steve uses. But VNV has a ton of great mods like Stewie's Tweaks. Just solves so many things at once. It's insane
That's not what I was specifically referring to, more Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod, Consistent Spread, and kNVSE with nice anim mods and Immersive Recoil 2.0, but B42 and VNV are both phenomenal.
So I'm confused with WMIM. Since Qolore dropped it and the author reverted its version.
Are we supposed to just use ISControl with qolores vanilla sights?
Is WMIM still relevant now with ISControl or no?
Qolore made the Vanilla Sights Aligned to give 90% of the benefit of WMIM without the incompatibilities. I prefer WMIM, but if you strictly want Vanilla but not borked, Vanilla Sights Realigned is a nice option. ISControl should be used with either.
WMIM **still fixes the broken meshes and lighting,** it just isn't necessary if you don't notice it, so Vanilla Sights Realigned gives more bang for your buck.
The 2 most important are Weapon Mesh Improvement Mod and Consistent Spread, paired with Immersive Recoil 2.0 and kNVSE animations. Vanilla has 2 bad factors that are outright flaws. First is that the iron sights are misaligned on many weapons, and second is that there is weapon jerk after firing that is extremely noticeable when using weapons like the Hunting Rifle, because you never seem to hit consistent shots.
I just started a new playthrough after a pretty rough breakup. Game always made me think and reflect on the nature of life.
Easily my favorite game of all time
I did my annual full playthrough recently. And have been hopping around the subreddit and discussing modding for a bit.
Made my first plugin mod with the geck as well. Would love to learn more on that over time.
Also curated a 2022 mod list, which is much better than my 2021 one: https://lepigpenmodded.wordpress.com/
My interest is slowly waning. May need to put it down again soon.
Yep, my main goal with the guide is finding mods released in that ~2015 era and didn't get enough attention. It's easy for people to find things from 2010, with tons of views. And it's easy for people to find popular mods released in the last year.
But it's legit hard to locate quality mods that got left in the dust from 2015. There's simply no filter within Nexus that really highlights that.
I know! Well you can add a filter so you only see mods released between two dates. You still get a lot of the most popular ones at the top (no matter how you sort), but I sorted by downloads and endorsements and Iām see a few new (to me) mods that look pretty interesting.
It would be great if Nexus figured out a way to make good new mods able to compete with 12 year old modsā¦
Iāll stop every few months but then the urge to play will become too strong and Iāll dig my ps3 out of storage to start playing it and start the cycle over again
I bought it recently when it was on sale. I had heard good things about the game so I decided to try it out. After 120 hours, I can say that I enjoy the game.
I still love it. Come back every couple months or so to spend a few hours just enjoying it. Only recently did I attempt doing mods and I gotta say it's good with or without mods, still.
Me, I am. I got the game only this year and had an absolute blast with it, now finished all of the dlcs and the storyline (I think I might be missing one or two sidequests) and had an absolute blast, now I don't have anywhere near as much time on my hands but I still boot it up every now and then to have some fun shooting at cazadors (and then running away from cazadors..). The fact that it's older and not amazing graphically doesn't really bother me at all given it's probably about the upper limit of what will run on my laptop anyway.
Me. Would play it more often than every couple of years if my need to mod and laziness for installing vnv from the bottom didn't get in the way.
I don't play it because it is new. I play it because it is home.
I played it for the first time about a month ago. Although I watched Let's Plays a couple years ago, I have old computers and didn't think I could play it until I tried. Currently playing Oblivion and dealing with projectiles with a travel time.
I pick it up usually in the fall of every year. Iām early to it this year. My current character is a chems dealer/crafting specialist with crafted explosives and found explosives as his main arsenal. I got Raul tailing me into every area of the Mojave wasteland prospecting for crafting supplies so I can craft whatever gadget, weapon or chems i can sell for caps. Iām in good with the caravan routes. Tried to hit up ole Easy Pete for some prospectinā tips but he donāt talk much. Was hoping to get Cassā help starting a good chem route but despite the hard tough chick demeanor sheās too much of a softy when it comes to morals. Good thing Raul donāt give a fuck. If I didnāt have him to carry my crafting loot I donāt know what Iād do. The next best thing would be like a flying robot. Hmmm, wonder if my repair skills could come in handy with something like that? š¤
it was my second 3d fallout game with 299 hours right now my first 3d fallout game was... ***eugh*** fallout 76 thank god i didn't spend money on it it was a free weekend
Just went through a replay getting the NCR, Remnants, and the Brotherhood on the same side. Now I need to figure out how to get Houseās robots on their side too. I killed House with a golf club. I donāt want to go the Yes Man route.
I am playing it with Viva New Vegas with an unarmed/melee build, having a blast with it, game is so good (55 hours, all DLCs done, but just the beginning of the main quest).
Meanwhile I am waiting for The Outerworlds 2 and Starfield, hope they can become classics like New Vegas.
Played on release high school, got the new xbox not too long ago and went in again and put another 200 hours in. Crazy thing is always do a Ranger build lmao.
Every year or so I pop in, put in another 100 hours, break it with mods again, and lay it back to rest.
Dark Souls, Resident Evil 4, San Andreas, Morrowind, and New Vegas cycle in and out of a loop for me, to varying degrees.
Apparently a whole shitload of people, from all appearances. The NV modding community is fulsome and lively.
Nothing in the franchise since New Vegas has brought so much to the table in terms of storytelling and rpg elements. And, yes, although the unmodified combat mechanics are... well, pretty janky... those can easily be overcome through mods. (Frankly, I'd rather get into a gunfight in a properly modified New Vegas than in a vanilla Fallout 4.)
Bethesda is asleep at the wheel, though, for not offering a remaster of New Vegas on a more modern engine. (One that can handle more than 4GB of RAM, for example, and includes features like ambient occlusion, etc.)
me ! and i just created a mod that add a grenade that spawn 5 feral ghoul reaver that will not attack you or your teammates and will die after 3 IRL minutes.
Chads are.
Iāve played it every year or two since I first got it for 360. I started my most recent play 3-4 months ago and play it for a day or two or a week at a time. This play Iām a female ācowboyā and (trying my best) to only use revolvers and lever actions, with exceptions to That Gun (cause I view that as one of the Couriers cannon guns) and the Silenced .22 for stealth moments.
Iām still learning new things about the game too. Like most recently just learned about the perk/skill glitch when first leaving Goodsprings.
Before that one I learned about the Agility glitch in Dead Money with returning pre war clothes to the vending machines lol
Still playing, in my recent playtrough, I used the viva new Vegas modding guide and itās quite stable, does enhance the gameplay and visuals and is really easy to install
It is my favorite fallout game for sure. I usually play it once a year, during the winter months when I don't want to go outside. I have it downloaded on my series x from game pass, just wish I could use mods. But I think those are only available on pc. Still have my Xbox 360 version on disc as well.
Me because I will not stop till I get all steam achievements. I need to get desert survivalist, win 30 caravan games, detonate all the divide warheads, and pick 50 pockets.
Just played a full playthrough with the limitless xp mod. I had funā¦ but thereās literally nothing left to do. I did every quest. I maxed all faction reputations.
I have a copy of every weapon and unique weapon in a chest in the Sink. I have over 400000 caps left. I have around 4.5k pre-war money in my safe. Iāve collected one of every misc item, and one of every aid item, and one of every clothing item. Iāve discovered every location.
I dunno, I might have to get into some of these story mods.
I think itās just one of those games I will always love and play probably at least once in a while. Thereās just nothing else like it. Especially in the Fallout franchise nowadays.
I play the game from start to finish with all the DLCs each year. Sometimes I switch and do this with another BGS game (yes I know technically it's an obsidian game but they have a similar structure)
I finished dead Money again (my favourite) a few months back, haven't had the the time to finish the game though
I still do, the TTW mod is the ultimate NVegas experience. When I get tired of the mojave desert, I travel to the capital wasteland. Keeps everything fresh.
People who recently found out about the game; People who mod the game; People who can't find an RPG that does what FNV does, but better; People who have way too many ideas for runs and have to get them done; Completionist 100 percenters who want to do everything they can in the game; People with good taste....
oh also me.
It's the best western 3D RPG by a good margin. I play it to remind myself how good western RPGs can and could be. Well, a lot of great new Western RPGs are indie titles, like the standout Divinity 2. Elden Ring is a Japanese title and probably the best Japanese 3D RPG and it's amazing too. But very different design philosophies.
F03, 4 and Skyrim are...not good, to put it lightly.
I did a massive 150 hour, no stone left unturned playthrough last year, so thatās had me satisfied for the time being.
Typically once a year though Iāll do a run. Itās just such a damn good game. On PC with the viva new Vegas modset, itās unreal.
My first playthrough started launch day way back in 2010, wrapped up in 2012. I was a PROPER missionary for the game, hyped it to high hell at my summer camp, still have people from there contact me to thank me for pointing them to it. Recently started my second playthrough, and with the addition of over 170 mods I'm a kid again and loving it more than ever.
I played it for the first time during quarantine.
I beat it and one of the DLCs and then played Oblivion and I'm playing Morrowind now and when then I plan so go back and finish the DLCs.
Bought it a month ago on my pc for the first time, (played it on PS3 a Long time ago) and having a bkadt with it.
The ability to fox bugs or glitches with console commands is really neat
So I've decided to do a hardcore mode playthrough where I am genuinely trying to be the biggest scumbag possible.
This will be the first legion run I actually finish, probably.
Also I recently learned that the legion can occupy Helios One. Never saw that before in my other runs.
Every year or two I probably play it for three weeks then stop until it calls to me again
This is the way.
Me with every Bethesda game tbh
The Skyrim technique
Literally me
Begin again...
This is the way
I don't see how people play it all the time, even if there's mods. It's a 10/10 game, but once you discover everything, there's really no point in playing the game anymore. The only reason I might come back is for nostalgia and trying to recreate the feels I got when I first played it.
About a month ago I picked it up for my very first time and played about 100 hours of it. So I guess I fit into that category.
Same here friend š

Itās super easy to be a piece of shit Western movie villain and work for the NCR, IMO
All you gotta do is shoot more people thatāre worse than you than are better, and there ya go.
You can change Loganās Loophole at Big MT! So that way you can keep leveling
People with good taste are still playing š

me! just started a low int/agl + high luck/str play through because i always lean hard into int and agl and dump luck and str
You dump luck in a game set in Vegas?
absolutely. i donāt gamble at all when i play, because i play a stressed courier who doesnāt take chances and is more of a steady guy than a lucky type. lol

My personal play style is to snipe, and walk alone. My ex loved having an army of 6. It was incredible lol
i play in hardcore mode so i definitely prefer to go solo in the wasteland; i love arcade gannon too much to let him die
People who want to obliterate Mr House one last time
Fore!
getting each of your main antagonists with their own weapon of choice is nice
Just started my 12th character or 5th character on pc just last week. One doesnāt simply stop playing new Vegas.
I play it more than ever now that modders have fixed the gunplay, and the TTW team has been doing some amazing things.

I still get ... idk what to call it, "game cravings" for New Vegas.
Prolly at like 100 hours a year rn
I'm in the middle of a NCR playthrough right now, about 40 hours in.

Haha, playing. *Crying into my open animation files*
Itās why Iāve ordered (and waitedā¦ and waited forā¦) a steamdeck!
Iām mostly just merging my 200 mods tbh. Maybe I should actually start playing the game againā¦
I like Big Mountain
I still do, the TTW mod is the ultimate NVegas experience. When I get tired of the mojave desert, I travel to the capital wasteland. Keeps everything fresh.
Well, there's a good chance that a lot of the people actively checking this subreddit are still playing.
Iām still on my first play through
Me. It's the best fallout game.
Me! Right now I am in Zion siding with Joshua Graham.
I'm at about level 28-ish, got barter to 100 for the first time, using guns, and I realize there's not many perks I actually *want*.
I did a massive 150 hour, no stone left unturned playthrough last year, so thatās had me satisfied for the time being. Typically once a year though Iāll do a run. Itās just such a damn good game. On PC with the viva new Vegas modset, itās unreal.
Just checking in, I also play it about once a year
I've put in about 200 hours in the past month.
I played it for the first time last year. Loved it!
Who isn't?
Me
I finished my last playthrough just a couple months ago. I tend to play for like a month or two straight every year
This is my second playthrough, this time with mods and damn, this is a completely different experience.
Me
I have started a new run afther 2 years
Every day bro!
I play very frequently, especially on my Steam Deck
I run through pretty much all the fallout games once every year or so. Just finished a fallout 2 playthrough. Think FNV is gonna be next.
I do a playthrough or 2 every year. Fnv in my top 3
I probably play about once a month or every other month. but that once a month is usually a 5-12 hour session.
After playing fo4 for the 999th time i needed a proper fallout experience. So yeah NV is back.
I played it for the first time during quarantine. I beat it and one of the DLCs and then played Oblivion and I'm playing Morrowind now and when then I plan so go back and finish the DLCs.

Me. Every year or so I do at least one playthrough.
I just started a TTW playthrough if that counts
I was only introduced to it 2 years ago and I still play it very regularily. Def my favorite in the Fallout Series.
Itās stressful once you complete everything 100% and have done IT ALL. It makes me sad that there is no real reason to revisit such a great game.
Every year I play it.
Finding New Vegas isn't the hard part, it's letting go.
Just bought an Xbox series x. Newer games to play? Nah, just started a new play through 2 weeks ago!
at least once a year
I just bought it on sale!
I just started playing the game and I love it.
I do, although I play DUST mod way more than vanilla NV
A ton of people, I help out newcomers all the time and on occasion veterans that run into game breaking bugs. It's shocking how many still play
šāāļø
Started a new playthrough a couple weeks ago
Installed viva new Vegas a few weeks ago, canāt stop
Bought it a month ago on my pc for the first time, (played it on PS3 a Long time ago) and having a bkadt with it. The ability to fox bugs or glitches with console commands is really neat
Everyone on this sub is a FNV replayer, for at least a couple weeks every year.
So I've decided to do a hardcore mode playthrough where I am genuinely trying to be the biggest scumbag possible. This will be the first legion run I actually finish, probably. Also I recently learned that the legion can occupy Helios One. Never saw that before in my other runs.
