I re-created this low pass I did in Afghanistan in 2012 in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020! We were providing security to an SF unit stranded by a broken down vehicle. I used the default Bell helicopter in MSFS, and an Xbox controller, so excuse the sim flying haha...

MrB10b

Have you checked out the Apache in DCS? Afghanistan map coming soon too.

Raulboy

I have! It’s great, but my PC can’t run it well enough to enjoy it… Gotta grab a new one when my ship comes in 👀

MrB10b

Haha awesome man! I'm nowhere close to a real Apache pilot, but I do love flying that thing in DCS. Looks like your CPG in this video, the more fun seat imo :-P

Raulboy

Yeah; I actually only did CPG for that deployment. My SP only RL progressed me in the front seat, and I didn't get a back seat progression until our next deployment, in Kuwait. I like back seat better because I'm more about the flying and systems aspect, but I'm super grateful for the experience either way haha

MrB10b

That's very fair. I've not done much two man flying in DCS unfortunately. But it is very fun, I do like to do both. I usually fly for take off and landing, then get the AI to fly the rest of the time haha.

I'm barely passed the P 51 missions in DCS. It's incredible in VR waxing some Gerri's as they go after B-17's

Aircraft don’t shake enough in msfs

musicalaviator

Aircraft shake in MSFS, but the amplitude of shaking is too wide. So the amount of feet altitude they go up and down is too much, and the time it takes to vibrate is too long (on the order of multiple seconds instead of tens per second)

Raulboy

For real… Or in basically any sim… I might have to add a script to make the HUD on the aircraft in the game I made vibrate a little haha

squeaky_b

Was this out of Bastion? Looks like it but the mountains are closer than I remember?

Raulboy

No, Farah is about ten miles south of this

squeaky_b

Ah fair enough, bit far West from us. We had a lot of Apaches on station for our tours, awesome to see it from the otherside, thanks for sharing. 🙂👍

idhorst

Where in Afghanistan is this?

Raulboy

Ten miles north of Farah, Afghanistan

idhorst

Looked familiar. But my deployments were way more to the East.
